Piccolino in Cheshire West and Chester

Brilliant service and beautiful food, friends with benefits cocktail is so good! The staff are very friendly and fast service.

First the Good News. The food was excellent, especially the crab ravioli. Only the tiny oysters almost down to the size of a large mussel were disappointing. The Bad News The Design With so many hard surfaces a convex ceiling seemingly designed to reflect noise back into the dining area and very crammed space, AND we were really packed in!, everybody was shouting at the top of their voices. Even our teenagers, (people not usually averse to noise!) mentioned they could hardly hear the person sat next to them. We arrived home exhausted! £39.50!! for a bottle of Prosecco was way over the top and it took 1 1/2 hours from arrival to receiving our first course and the restaurant was not full. We've had the same meal in Piccolino in Hale, and have always enjoyed them, (hence our Chester visit) The ambience in Hale INMO was far superior. To summarise, The food was GREAT, apart from the oysters, but we would not return, purely because of the noise and the cramped space. We would however return to other Piccolino restaurants, especially Hale, but would check Trip Advisor comments first, re comfort and noise levels! Oh! and we would keep away from the highly priced modest INMO wines. This is a good quality chain restaurant but NOT a San Carlo standard restaurant.

Every dish we had was either horrible or tasteless. The worst experience ever.

The food was just fantastic. As soon as we walked through the door we were made to feel totally welcome. The service was impeccable. Our server Fabio was a star. Can’t wait to return.

Visited 29/10/24. Disappointing experience. Whilst my wife ordered the Lasagne, I decided to order the Calzone. Terrible mistake. We had our appetiser of cheese and garlic delivered to the table , this was nice but not very much garlic. A longer wait between this and the main course as they seemed to be struggling in the kitchen. We eventually received the main course. Lasagne was fine but the calzone was a large lump of pizza base with a disappointingly tiny number of what appeared to be meat balls and peppers, as I removed 70% of the dry base with no sauce or filling I discovered a stone cold filling which I sent back to the kitchen, I got a replacement calzone suspiciously quickly, at least it was hot. However when I prised it open the filling consisted of four small pieces of meat and some watery, but tasty tomato sauce, no peppers or anything else at all. After another complaint i wasn’t charged for this item of the meal, but I was charged for everything else and received no apologies for the terrible quality of the meal. I was also charged £5 service charge. Paid bill minus service and left. My advice is avoid calzone at all costs

If u like raw food this is the place to go.

Last night my boyfriend took me here as we stayed the night in Chester. The food was amazing and the staff were all lovely and friendly. Then little did I know my boyfriend planned a surprise for me so when he asked for the bill, they came over with a plate saying will you marry me and a engagement ring in the box on the plate. All staff and customers all congratulated us even one of the staff videoed it all for us. Made it really special for us. So Thank you so much

Piccolinos: Great food and service! We had a wonderful meal at Piccolinos. The Wagyu steak was cooked perfectly and the penne pasta was delicious. Our waitress, Faten, was fantastic and made our experience even better. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere too. We highly recommend it!

We had a nice meal there late on a Sunday eve. The food and wine were perfect and we had great, friendly service from our server Louisa. Recommended

We first started with a few drinks at the bar, quite a pleasant experience with the host of the venue being rather friendly. Once we were seated we were handed the wine and food menus, the selection of wine was very impressive some expensive and some affordable. We then were approached for our orders. I ordered a garlic bread with cheese for a starter for me and my partner to share. For our mains we ordered a margherita pizza and the salmon tagliatelle. The starter arrived within 20 minutes. The garlic bread was exceptional, the cheese blend that was used really was exemplary, it was salty but not over powering and the garlic was subtly yet tasty. The mains however did come out whilst we were still eating our starter. The main courses arrived whilst we were eating our starter however the presentation was amazing, both pizza and pasta dishes did not dissapoint. The salmon was by far the best dish of the evening, very rich in taste and worked extremely well with the pasta sauce. The pizza on the other hand seemed rather bland and boring. It felt like the pizza was missing something, maybe a different mozerella cheese blend would really improve this dish. As a whole our experience was pleasant and we would visit in the future, however the atmosphere is on the louder side than the usual small italian restaraunt. However Prices seem fair and the staff seem lovely.

Taken our daughter here for her 21st as the did linguine vogule. Fantastic service, delicious food. Will definitely visit again next time we are in Chester.

Nice food, lovely atmosphere, good selection of wine and cocktail menu.

£13 for a large glass of wine was only the start. We went on to have a half a slice of toasted bread with a tomato on it, called bruschetta, at £9 and the bill went on increasing from there. Yes, my arancini was tasty but needed a mortgage to pay for it. We waited 30 minutes between first course and the mains, with no apology or the attention of our waitress. When the mains finally arrived, my penne arabiata was nothing special, not even fresh pasta, and my wife's fish skewers were just about acceptable. The final bill, with no additional drinks except sparking water, came to £111.38 and that included an undeserved service charge. Needless to say I will avoid the Piccollino chain of restaurants, in the future - rip-off other tourists!

Just wanted to say what a lovely meal and experience we had . We had been in Chester for the weekend for the races . We ate on the Friday night at the very over priced , over rated restaurant across the road and were vey disappointed. So when on an off chance we got a table at picolinos on the sat night , it was a very good choice . Food was amazing , great atmosphere and the staff were attentive and efficient.

Starter olives were quite pathetic value, 8 ordinary green olives for £5.50 ! My pizza was ok, fairly priced but quite ordinary, others enjoyed sea bass quite well but so they should at the high prices charged ! Quite a lot of customers, guess mainly tourists unaware of better value alternatives in the city.

The food was lovely and fresh but the service was disappointing, we waited 1 hour for the mains and when confronting this concern with the manger, they suggested it was only “16 minutes”… in which we requested a complimentary drink which was not forthcoming. Needless to say I won’t be returning.

Lovely menu but limited availability pending on time of day at 3-30pm we were the only customers in the whole place and waitress was happy to be behind bar minimal dessert menu and for 3,50 a cup coffee was like sawdust classy fascia but not food we dined in.

On Friday 26th July me and my boyfriend visited this restaurant for the first time as we was having a night away for my boyfriends birthday, everything was amazing. The staff were so friendly and the food was amazing. They even sang to my boyfriend and gave a complimentary birthday cake. Would 100% recommend.

I came for a lunch with my friend and we had a lovely afternoon. The waitress was really kind and attentive and recommended us a lovely Rosé, and the food was delicious. We got the duck and the salmon pasta. Would definitely recommend!

Certainly speaking with my English friend who lives nearby this place has a good reputation. It is always very popular and this also explains its very elegant location. The food is of excellent quality, we had a bruschetta with tomatoes and garlic, a pizza with vegetables and a thinly sliced ​​beef. The place is very elegant and has an open kitchen. I visit my daughter in Liverpool every month, but this time we decided to visit Chester instead of staying in Liverpool. After several hours of being a tourist, we were very hungry and decided upon Piccolino. Really friendly welcome and we were shown to our table and given menus and told that a couple of things had sold out, as it was late afternoon when we arrived. There was a good choice of options. Don't be put off by the menu on display outside. That is only a fraction of the options available. The food is really great. I had the Bruschetta Classica to start followed by the Calzone. Both were fresh and really tasted wonderful. Despite eating a lot for the first two courses, it was rude to skip desert and we were not disappointed. We left with very full tummies and contented. The staff were really friendly and helpful without being overbearing. 100% would recommend

The staff at Piccolinos were extremely attentive and good, recommending certain dishes and wine etc and topping up drinks and serving the table very well. The food however was not as great as the staff. We ordered the Olive Piccanti which was fantastic and the Pane Della Casa which was not great, but okay, for our starters. For our mains my partner had Casarecce con verdure, which was very tasty, I ordered a Capricciosa pizza, which unfortunately was dismal. The base was very wet and all the toppings fell off the pizza, resulting in me having to use a Knife and Fork to eat it. The ham tasted cheap too, however this could have been because the base was so wet, maybe this had an affect. For sides we ordered Fries with pecorino & truffle, these were fantastic, and the Rucola e Parmigiano, which was just rocket with cheese on the top, which was nice at first but became rather bland rather quickly. For deserts we had a Tiramisu which was just average, what you'd expect really for a Tiramisu and a Panna Cotta, which my partner really enjoyed. Overall the food was not great, but okay. However the issue I have is the price, as paying £120 inc service charge for food which barely filled me and was mediocre didn't seem good. There were some other issues as well, however these were a bit out of the restaurants hands - Firstly our starters went to the table behind us, they didn't say that they weren't theirs and proceeded to eat our starters, the staff were very apologetic, but this meant we had another 15/20 minute wait for our starters to arrive. Also there were a rather large family, including young children sat right by us that were very badly behaved and very noisy, this kind of ruined the environment and atmosphere which otherwise - was fantastic. In terms of the decor/ambiance, other than the young children, It was very good. The restaurant also gave us 2 free shots, I assume, because it was my partners birthday. Overall, I would probably recommend to a friend.

Lovely place but the service and staff were terrible. We were completely ignored from the moment we sat down, and when we tried to catch a waiters eye for some service (just to order drinks before food) it was just impossible. They were all rude and short tempered. The only time they were quick was to bring the card machine. Won't be going again.

We booked for Easter Sunday. We were excited as we had been to Piccolinos several years ago and it was brilliant. The staff were all very friendly and helpful; service was good. However, sadly, the food was not so good. The bruschetta was bland and my husband said his carbonara tasted strongly of vinegar. The rest of the food was ok - but nothing special. Its a shame as it is a lovely venue but we won't be back in a hurry.

So disappointed! We had seabass and Carbonara. The Seabass was burnt and the Carbonara totally dry and soft! I returned the Carbonara and requested for more sauce and was left waiting for around 10 minutes for its return whilst my partner finished the burnt seabass. Then I received the smallest portion of spaghetti I have ever seen. A £1.99 ASDA ready meal is bigger! I had to call into the chippie on the way home! It's £60 I'll never get back but it's a customer they'll never get back!

Visited on a week night and had 50% off food. My pizza was acceptable but my wife's was quite poor.

Lovely evening. I go every six weeks or so and always have a great time. The food is lovely, and good vegan/vegetarian options are available. Faten, who served us throughout the evening was very helpful, friendly and engaging. I am looking forward to our next visit in a few weeks.

loved this place but unfortunately the meal we had Liguine All’aragosta was half a very small lobster with a huge mound of pasta and prawns and no taste , a bottle of wine and side dry salad £ 173 00. we did say it was not good but waitress said fill your self with pasta. never going back there it’s ok for pizza but so is a lot of places

I have been in this restaurant twice. I was impressed by the quality and beauty of the furniture. We were served very quickly and our pizza was ready in 10 minutes. This is one of the best pizzas I've tried! It's definitely worth a visit!

Worse meal ive ever had they ran out with most of stuff on the menu, can't be bothered going through detail about it but one of the things is that u don't have roast beef on roast dinner its raw steak, never in my days have I've been so angry coming out of a resteraunt again I'd be writing on here for half an hour if I was to describe what I've had to put up with, ruined mothers day for my wife, nice one

Sent Caesar salad back twice as the sauce tasted wrong . Eaten at this chain a lot as a member as do my family. I know what Caesar should taste like, it’s my favourite dish there, I’ve lost count of the amount I’ve had. I only had one cocktail, 1 red wine & cheesy g/b. 1am violently throwing up. What came up? Caesar salad! Undoubtedly the cause. Chain tried saying a 3rd party investigation was carried out (they pay that firm so how is that not a conflict of interests), I didn’t go Environmental health as tried to be reasonable however here we are. Asked for food refund & service charge, nothing else £50! Denied. Offered Prosecco IF I GO BACK!!!!! Not a chance! Shocking behaviour from a chain I showed loyalty towards. San Carlo all the way from now on

We dined here on Saturday night and had an excellent experience. The hospitality was fantastic- we were warmly welcomed by the restaurant manager and taken to a seat in the bar area to have a drink before being seated for our meal. The staff we so welcoming, especially our server Faten, who was attentive and helped us to choose our meals. Food was delicious - fresh and tasty. We ordered steak, liver, carbonara and spicy king prawn pasta. We highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Attended for friends birthday, very poor service of the food (waitresses very nice), prebooked party arrived at 19.45pm starter served at 21.00hrs! Food mediocre 😕. Manager advised that they were busy!!!!!!! Obviously don't go when they are busy to serve you!

Surprisingly fresh and authentic food for a chain!

Place was beautiful. But service no ,got my order wrong ,waited 20mins to be seated even tho booked in advance. 50mins for a starter to arrive. Food was basic.

A bit slow to review, yet still necessary. We were a little nervous going into the restaurant, as we were dressed in ordinary clothes. We need not have worried. The staff were very welcoming and made us feel at ease. The food was amazing. My wife had a pizza. I had the lasagne. All in all it was a great find and experience. Would definitely go again.

Our 'go to' local restaurant simply because it ticks all the boxes: not the cheapest, not (perhaps) the slickest, not (I'm sure) the most sophisticated food but simply a cosy place to eat, relax and enjoy. We ate there for the nth time yesterday evening...all expectations fulfilled. Fabulously served by Faten - thanks for getting us registered with Club IR Faten!

Monday nights in January can be pretty lacking in atmosphere, however Piccolino's managed to provide a great balance of buzz and service which made for a really nice experience. We were celebrating my wife's birthday and our server, Faten went out of her way to ensure that she had a great evening. The food and service were excellent and we made the most of a January deal which meant that the price was also very reasonable.

Had a wonderful experience at this fine restaurant with my wife and our friends. Greeting was really warm and welcoming by the staff, the place was immaculate and the food was incredible. All the staff we met were so polite and courteous but a special mention for a young lady called Ashliegh who is a credit to your establishment and company. Simply outstanding. We went to Picollino in chester with friends in December for a little Xmas get together it was 7 of us and what a brilliant night we had, the food was absolutely amazing and the service was even better fafy was our server that night she recommended good wine and help us choosing the ideal starter so we could all share ! She went that extra mile. Such a friendly and very professional person! We will definitely be back! Thank you Fafy for making our night absolutely amazing.

Out with work colleagues and had a superb night, service is EXCELLENT, great ambiance and location. Menu is expansive, catering for various tastes, a delight from starters to dessert the food was on point, started with prawn starter, followed by the duck. Stand out was the duck out of all the dishes at our table, easily missed on the menu, perfectly tender meat hidden under a delicious crispy skin, safe to say I was not disappointed. Desserts again beautiful. Overall great food, great atmosphere and great service .

We ordered two carbonaras and food came with in 3/4 minutes of ordering, not only was it dry but also not very warm. It was as if they had a big batch pre-made and just served us that. I usually would say something however it was so busy and loud that I just wanted to leave so I asked for the bill. Somehow took long for me to pay the bill then for my food to come to the table. This was a recommendation to me through family but I can’t say I would return again especially seen as it was supposed to be a very high quality Italian. I was left very disappointed and hungry.

The most family friendly restaurant in Chester with excellent food at all times and exceptionally good customer service! It’s our go-to place for years and not once disappointed! Faten goes the extra mile to make guests welcome, nothing is ever too much to ask for, our kids absolutely love the relaxed atmosphere and the special attention from staff! Cosmo seamlessly combines professionalism and friendliness and the restaurant runs like a clockwork under his leadership and management! Strongly recommend Piccolino for any occasion, whether it’s a business meeting or a family gathering!
