An Excellent Cantonese Restaurant ,not cheap but the food was wonderful and despite the place being mobbed out the service was impeccable! Would highly recommend to book to avoid disappointment not to be missed!

The best Chinese restaurant in chester. Fact All you can eat deals.. loads to chose from.. Best thing about this all you can eat (other than amazing food) is that you don't have to leave your seat.. amazing value for money. Been going here for more than 15 yrs and it only improves. Staff are lovely. Very friendly. Very quick service. Unfortunately there is not a disabled access. There are 2 small flights of stairs to enter... besides that i can not fault anything at all. Very clean place. Parking available . Discounted to £1.50 to £3 depending on how long your stay is. Beers available. Wine. Soft drinks. If you don't want the all you can eat buffet (prices vary on certain days ) there is a seprate menu. I can guarantee you will not be dissapointed. Children welcome. Delivery service available also

Ive eaten at several Chinese Restuarants, over quite a wide range of the country, but I have never eaten at a "buffet" style. I was really surprise at the variety of food that was on offer. You picked 1 starter to start with. When you have finished that, you can have another starter (if you dare, the platters are very good value and loads of selection, including veggie) Once you have eaten enough starters, you then pick your mains. I had the Luka Vegetable Curry which was spicy and lovely, extremely well cooked. The other 9 in our party had a huge selection; Beef, chicken & Pork, with lots of choices of sauces to cook it in. Similar to the starter, once you have finished your main, you can order another main. Personally I was stuffed, but I watched several colleagues order different mains and woof it down. Good service when it arrives, a little slow if you say can you give us 5 mins, it takes 20 mins for them to return, so be warned. Very good prices £18.95 for as much as you can eat which exceptional variety to chose from. Really enjoyed the food, excellent value for money. I would highly recommend this place.

Really busy place considering it’s a little out of the way-doorway next to Iceland. So very friendly and informative staff. Very efficient. Lovely clean place with semi open kitchen. Nice decor. I d never been to a ‘banquet’ before, only buffets. You choose up to 6 starters per table. Then choose your main meal and extras. Then, if you ve got room, you can order more starters or another main. Lovely, fresh, hot and tasty food. Limited but nice desserts. Variety of drinks. Well done Slow Boat!

I visited this restaurant today and I have a digestive problem so after looking at the menu I decided on the Malaysian curry as it states it is a mild curry. I ordered this and my family ordered a chicken curry. The girl said that my curry was just a lamb curry and I stated it was to be mild. When the food arrived my curry was identical to my families and very spicy. I could eat much and I asked the girl what was the difference between my curry and the chicken one and she said no difference they were all the same. I might add that I was very unwell that afternoon and think the restaurant should remove this from the menu if every curry is the same, it’s false advertising and I’m sure trading standards would have something to say about this. Nothing outstanding or overtly surprising, just straightforward Chinese. A good range of items available in a sort of to order buffet. You can order upto 6 items at a time as an all you can eat platter. And then, order 6 more if you like. Follow up with a main dish and dessert. 16£ to 25£ depending on day/time and age. We saw couples, families and a large group having a birthday party. Also, they are doing a huge take away business.

To be honest we have always avoided this place as we thought it was an all you can eat buffet style restaurant. How wrong we were. The service was excellent, quick, the food arrived well presented and hot. The food was amazing, really couldn’t fault it at all. There were six on our table. We all had starters . The spare ribs were huge!! Very tasty too. Others had salt and pepper prawns, chicken wings and different kinds of ribs. All delicious. The mains were equally as good. We shall certainly visit again.

Had such a wonderful meal here. My partner and I are always on the hunt for good Chinese food and this place is one of the best. The staff were so helpful and attentive. The food came out quickly and hot. Can’t wait to come back.

Been coming here pretty much my whole life! Love the system of ordering! But it needs a re vamp. I have images in my head of being here at maybe 7/8 years old and it has the same decor. ( I am Now nearly 28). There seems to be a turnover of staff as of late! Some familiar faces which is great! The paying extra for prawn crackers always annoys me, just increase the price and include them. Pint of coke is nearly £4 which I think is strap but maybe that’s because of the food prices. Would recommend it for groups as it has something to suit everyone. Will always be a family favourite as there is no where like it! Their salt and Pepper chicken is one of the best I’ve had!

Party of 6 came along on a Sunday afternoon. 3 or 4 tables occupied. A few months ago full. Raised some suspicions. All starters deep fried . Main courses sparce. Not encouraged to order more. Bill came to £160. But wanted us to pay extra £2.50 for prawn crackers Bit of a rip off.

The "buffet" banquet is excellent. All the food is cooked to order so there is no queuing for shrivelled up offerings. Service is really good, attentive enough without making you feel rushed. My only criticism is the price of drinks. A definite re visit place.

Cannot knock the food here at all ! really tasty, reasonably priced, great staff and good service. Last time I visited here was 2016 still looks exactly the same, same old carpet and dark inside, nothing at all on the tables, a placemat would be nice or a coaster! resembles a school canteen or a cheap all inclusive restaurant, not very inviting at all considering they do well here you'd think they would just revamp the place a little especially with the competition with choice of restaurants these days. Wouldn't rush to go back.

Food was really good drinks were really good but the service we received from our American waitress was absolutely excellent. Nothing was to much trouble, she’s a genius served and gave time to everyone in her charge but didn’t keep anyone waiting. Pure magic to watch

We started using this restaurant after our usual one in these times of pandemic, still refuses to take card payments. All I can say is I am so glad I tried it as the food is excellent, delivery (via deliveroo) is very quick and the prices and deals are fantastic. Pretty standard menu so you know what to expect but everything tasted similar. I have Chinese food delivered quite often by a few different restaurants and it’s always MUCH better. We had a banquet where you could choose 6 starters and every one was fried in batter including spare ribs which is a new one to me. Everything a little greasy. Boring dining room with nothing to suggest it was Chinese. Waiters quite efficient but still I would never return.

This isn’t the place to go if you want a fine dining experience but it is certainly a go to if you want to have nice, tasty Chinese takeaway style food.All food is prepared and brought to you, compared to other all you can eat restaurants where it is all kept under a hot lamp for you to go and help yourself to. Me and my sister came here on the 19th July, We had been told how lovely it is here and we couldn’t have been more disappointed. The food was cold the chicken and ribs starter was hard. Myself and my girlfriend arrived and the waiter informed us that it was all you can eat we order a main each which where very small so after we finished them we asked for more mains and we decided to order 2 each this time,the waiter refused and said we had to finish everything we already had which we had already finished, again finished our mains and ordered another dish only for the waiter to return with a small starter rather than the mains we initially ordered! Visited on Fri 17th July for a late night meal, arrived at about 9.50pm..Meal was outstanding, had hot and sour soup which was delicious (and had a huge prawn in it) and siu-mai's which were superb followed by salt and pepper chicken platter for 2 and chips/curry sauce. Add a couple of drinks each and the bill only came to £42 which was great value, took a box full back to the hotel for supper.All of the staff lovely and toilets very clean, cant wait to come again.They also offer a 20% discount for NHS staff if you mention this when paying the bill so we saved another £8.Thank you Slow Boat

Amazing take away on Saturday night, having had chippy Chinese for the past few weeks it was so nice to have restaurant food delivered to my door. Quality food with so much flavour Thankyou Slowboat we will be back

This is a high end Chinese restaurant in Chester currently offering a takeaway service as a result of the Covid 19 crisis. Food was really good but totally spoilt by the mis-representation of the 20% discount offer to NHS workers in their menu.Right below the deliveroo logo they claim to offer a 20% discount to NHS workers, only to say that it only applys to collections, as I was asked to pay cash on the doorstepNot impressed by mis use of NHS to in such times and in the end an expensive experience compared to the local Chinese takeaway which I will return to next time

Me and my partner recently eat here. We order the allYou can eat menu, absolutely lovely. The staff were very helpful, greated is and seated us. We were served promptly and the food was fantastic. The atmosphere was beautiful and we had a lovely evening and enjoyed the whole experience.

Myself, my partner and our daughter visited the slow boat this evening for her 8th birthday after her asking to go to a chinese restaurant for her birthday. We arrived and were quickly take to our table, drinks orders were taken and we were given time to look at the menus. We ordered from the all you can eat banquet as it appeared good value for money. The food was OUT OF THIS WORLD. I can’t exaggerate this enough. Each course was brought out piping hot, fresh and absolutely delicious. My daughters favourite were the chicken wings and the crispy duck, mine were the wontons and the fried fish in honey and chilli sauce. The setting was lovely, the restaurant was busy and the staff were very attentive. At the end of our meal the staff brought over a mocktail for my daughter with a sparkler. This was a lovely touch and made her night. Thank you guys - we will be back and we will bring the family. The bill was also perfectly reasonable for the food we had and o would happily pay it again in a heartbeat.

Fantastic food and service every time, the Sunday buffet is a real eye opener but the real star is the a la carte, huge range of dishes all cooked to perfection. The service is great and even when busy the staff go that extra mile to ensure everything you need is provided.

If you are ever in Chester and like Chinese this is a must, I would book it though its so nice its always busy. they do a set price for a banquet and the food is flowing all the time and you can ask for more of whatever you want. Stunning food and great service.

Arrived around 6, restaurant very fully, lots of Chinese customers, which is always a good signOrdered Christmas special, buffet, choice of soups, plus starter, plus duck, plus mains, plus banana/icecream Skipped soup, ordered 6 of the starters, very nice then duck/pancakes, then mainsOur duck was taken to the wrong table giving us a 20 min delay, our mains were also delayed Plates appeared about 15 mins before foodAll the food tasted good, but service was awful, along with unacceptable waiting timesLooking around most people had come for the entire evening to just eat, any course could be repeated, and we saw people having 3 lots of 6 starters, plus 2 lots of duck.Not sure how they make any money, unless it's on the drinks

We enjoyed our meal at the Slow Boat but with hindsight should have perused the contents of the Lunch Banquet Adult menu in more detail or asked questions regarding some of the items contained in the Banquet menu as they were not all to our liking.In saying that, we enjoyed the meal and experience and have no complaints.The restaurant is quite large but it didn't feel stark as it has great character and there were several large parties seated at other tables.Our banquet for two cost £31 plus we ordered another £7 worth of "off menu food" which we enjoyed.The two waiters who attended to us were friendly and courteous.

Had gone off Chinese Food the last few years as many places just have average gloopy MSG hangover food. Not this place!! Fresh, flavoursome, delicious dishes. Nice staff. Highly reccomend

Haven't been to the slow boat for many years so as our friends live near Chester we decided to book. So glad that we did! Amazing food, all fresh and hot and loads of it. Set banquet and so much on it. We had hot and sour soup which was delicious, followed by a platter with spring rolls, chicken wings, ribs,etc. Then after another platter arrived with satay, samosas, and all other bits OMG so much food. After that was crispy duck and pancakes then the main courses, by which time we were so full. The restaurant was packed esp with it being Christmas, highly recommended and will defo return

Large portions of amazing food, we ordered for two but there was enough for four. Staff are extremely friendly , great service!

Came here for the Fat Belly buffet on a Friday evening with my son in laws to wet the baby’s head Food never stopped coming and the service was good also the wine was reasonably priced - would recommend a visit
