Gorgeous cocktail and tapas bar... its underground and has a rounded ceiling...we fortunately arrived during happy hour and all cocktails half price and 2 bottles beer for a fiver....defo come here again and recommend others to come..staff very polite welcoming and friendly

Lovely cocktail bar and eatery in Chester on Watergate Street, below street level. The cocktails are fabulous, music great and staff helpful and friendly. We had a great night.

Rare night away staying over in Chester and we both love Mexican food so we booked into Havana Chester. It was quite busy when we walked in with groups of young lads and girls taking advantage of the 2:1 cocktails bar staff really helpful but she seemed surprised when we said we’re having food she recommended. I ordered two rounds of cocktails as they were coming close to the end of happy hour which I thought was really good customer service. The drinks delivered and we ordered starters, ribs, and chorizo tapas. Didn’t start well because chorizo Tapas was missing the ciabatta bread. The waitress was not around and I had to get up and find her. She was engaged in conversation with the chef by the kitchen no apology and said they’d bring the bread over I knew then it was not going to be a good experience! The ribs must of been from a day old piglet or cat they were the smallest ribs I have ever seen 3 tiny little ribs. When the chicken fajita and steak fajita were delivered the waitress asked would you like any extra sauces and we said no thank you that was the last we saw the waitress. She did not come back and check if the meal was ok. It was far from it. The place was now dead and there was only one other couple who had been eating every one had left as happy hour had finished. The steak and chicken were burnt and dry and the peppers and onions in the skillet were raw!! We did not feel like calling over the staff as all 3 of them were eating food at the bar. We asked for the bill and the Barman came to take payment and we said the food was not good. He replied with why didn’t you say when the waitress came over and checked if meal was ok!!!!!!!! This was blatant lie from the waitress! He did apologise and said he would speak to her. When I checked the bill in the morning they had charged me for a round of cocktails I did not order!!!! We had to walk into town in the morning for the refund. I wish I had read the reviews as the last couple had given them one star. Good for weak 2:1 cocktails not for food.

Really cool atmosphere and delicious food - the burrito bowl had the just the right amount of spice, and a good portion size. Cocktail selection is also great.

There are about 5 steps down into the venue. We had a sharing board, the waiter suggested 5 dishes which was just right for two of just. Everything was delicious, especially the sweet corn hummus! They had a good selection of mocktails and lots of cocktails. The music wasn't blasting out, which I appreciate, it was very chilled out. Staff friendly and welcoming. We really enjoyed our visit here and it's reasonably priced too.

Expensive drinks not worth the money. There was far too much cordial / mixers, v sickly. The tables were very sticky and could do with updating. Also lights were out in the bathroom.

We visited Fiesta Havana during a recent visit to Chester. We ordered 5 tapas plates to share between my husband and I. Each of the tapas was beautiful. We had several cocktails all excellent. The Espresso Martini with Popcorn in who would have thought how well that worked and the cocktail with Bounty Bar bloody beautiful. Staff were all excellent, and the place had a great atmosphere with music playing, then a DJ started later. Loved our visit. Would definitely return when we visit Chester again.

We decided to come here again after loving it the time before. To start off the cutlery was dirty thankfully didn't use them much. Although the drinks were ok the tapas was extremely disappointing. We ordered a sharing platter of 5 dishes. It arrived not as a sharing platter but just on normal dishes. This would have been fine but the food was so bad especially compared to last time. The Cajun chicken tacos were so bland and nothing like the menu had described. The chill cheese fondue was a joke, fries on the side were bland and obviously bought in and frozen, no flavour at all. Ribs were just fat. Patatas bravas were mushy and smothered in a horrible sauce(Bland) The only saving grace was the baked avocado dish which was ok compared to the rest. Ended up leaving most of the meal paid the bill and looked for somewhere else to eat because we were both so hungry .Was a huge disappointment as we had both raved about it last year and were so excited about returning. Service poor, no one came to check on us or ask how things were going. Didn't ask when I was paying. We were in the restaurant for no more than 30 minutes and no one seemed to find that odd. We were talking about bringing the families in for a meal because of how highly we rated it. But after this I can say we will never be returning. If you want to run it as a Latin American tapas bar make sure that is your niche. It feels like it's more of a cocktail based place now and the food is just something extra when it should be the other way around.

Great 50% off deal but it was a shame that all food was delivered on cold plates so dishes went cold very quickly. A basic tip to heat plates would make all the difference Food was average and unfortunately the cocktails we had were inconsistent in their flavour Have been here o several occasions in the past but this visit didn’t live up to expectations

We called in at lunchtime having looked at several other places because we were struggling to find somewhere that catered for lots of different tastes. We were seated immediately and drinks brought over really quickly. There was a bit of wait for the food however once it arrived it was really hot and tasty, we all cleared our plates and really enjoyed the food. The building is really nice with a good atmosphere and the staff were welcoming and friendly. We all said we will go back again and try more things on the menu as there was lots to choose from. Overall, we are really pleased we stumbled upon this place as being local to Chester it will be easy for us to go back.

We had booked a table for 6.30pm but turned up a bit earlier in hope of getting a drink while we waited but our table was ready so we got sat down immediately. The choice of cocktails is amazing! It took us a while to choose one but there is also an option to buy a cocktail for the kitchen which is a brilliant idea as the staff work so hard. The choice of food was just as incredible and settled for some tapas and a sharing plate but could have had everything. Such a great atmosphere and the staff are so lovely. We would absolutely recommend coming here for just drinks or food as well.

We ordered tapas. 7 dishes . The patas bravas were cold and very bland. The meatballs were frozen then covered in a watery tomato sauce. 4 prawns only in the pil pil prawns. The calamari was tasteless. The corona beers were served warm. We went for my partners birthday. £74 pounds lighter and not the best experience. Sorry but the meal was well below par🥲

The venue was very nice clean . All the staff were very friendly and welcoming The food was brilliant . For the whole party. I hope that this complaint finds Stonegate in the best of spirits, as it appears your customers’ spirits are of no concern to your “GM” (general manager) at the Fiesta Havana. I am writing this bad review to express my deep dissatisfaction following the misfortune of having to deal with the GM at this restaurant. Having read some of the other reviews, he seems to have also upset a number of other people with his rude manner and lack of empathy. Me and my wife were in Chester for our anniversary and decided to have a little walk up and down Watergate Street to see if we could find somewhere to eat later on. We saw a sign outside the fiesta Havana saying “half price cocktails” between 5pm and 8pm. It was 4.55pm so we decided to try it out as it looked inviting. We went in, sat down and having checked my watch (It was 5pm), asked the lady behind the bar, “Are the cocktails half price?” She said, “No they’re two for one but you have to have the same one” (Different from what it said outside and also implying that this is what I would get right now) I don’t really go for cocktails but my wife wanted to try one so I said, “Ok can I have two Pornstar Martini’s then please?” The drinks were brought and we decided to try a couple of starters. The food was nice and the staff seemed OK, so great! We’d go home, get changed and come back. However when we finished, I asked for the bill and I was charged almost £20 for the two cocktails. When I asked why we had been charged for the two, I was incredibly told that my order had been “put on the system at 4:59pm and 40 seconds!” and that there was nothing that they could do... The lady behind the bar said you need to speak to the “GM” (She did look a little nervous mentioning his name) and she went off to go and get him. This is when a man, similarly described by a number of other people on TripAdvisor comes bouncing over to the bar. I explained that we asked about the deal and was told we could have two for one and so that we ordered it but were being charged for two. He checked the till and said the deal was after 5 and that he was there when I ordered and heard the lady specifically say “after 5” (At 4:59pm) and called me a liar – certainly not the case and not a great start to the conversation! I was basically told “Computer says no” and that he can’t do anything about it. @Stonegate, the receipt was dated 8th September 2023 at 17:20pm for your records to check. I told him I thought that this was ridiculous and that it felt like I was being ripped off. This is when he started to gaslight me and tell me I was being aggressive! I laughed and said, I’m not being aggressive I’m just trying to express my dissatisfaction and that I don’t believe that he can’t do anything about it. (What if a member of staff made a mistake on an order? Would the “system” not allow them to change it?). I’ve worked in retail and I know that this is incorrect. However, this guy continued to try and wind me up and tell me with statements like: “Why should I give you £10 out of my own pocket?" “Got a problem? Speak to Stonegate”. Unbelievable! I really wish there was CCTV footage for Stonegate to review. At one point he even said “There’s three of us and only one of you!” What is this supposed to even mean? In retrospect, I now know that under consumer law, food and drink prices must be “As clear as possible”. The restaurant failed in its’ obligation in this case and I would be in my rights to contact the trading standards. I was tricked into paying double. I should have simple written “paying under protest” on the bill or simply left my name and address. However, it was not about the £10 (Even though the GM said at one point “I can’t believe your complaining about nine quid”) it was the principle. I was going to return later, however I was utterly taken aback by his lack of professionalism, empathy and basic courtesy. I also asked for his name but he point blankly refused to give me it and said “Go and stick your bad review on TripAdvisor and email Stonegate” like he didn’t even care. So all I know is that he is the “GM” (as it seems all the staff are made to call him). Such a shame as the food was nice, the other staff seems nice and the place rustic. All let down by an extremely rude general manager with no sense of customer service or empathy who seems to think he’ll get business no matter how he acts because he has a place on a touristic street in a beautiful city. This encounter left a nasty stain on our one night out without the kids for our anniversary. Luckily though, we found a lovely place not too far away called the Artezzan. Here, the staff and food were absolutely amazing and they couldn't do more for us (Going to write a review there too after this). So the experience might have turned out to be a blessing in disguise but I will be warning people away from the Fiesta Havana and avoiding it completely when entertaining staff or visiting the racecourse in the future. This place could be so much better and has so much potential if customer care was considered a priority.

Stayed in Chester for the night and luckily came across this fantastic restaurant. We shared tapas which we both enjoyed having a mix of meat, fish and vegetarian. Wish I liked cocktails/alcohol because they looked great, hubby enjoyed the 2-4-1 beers. Staff were very friendly but not too pushy. Will definitely visit again.
