I was having an absolute mare. My van had locked me out and the temperature was dropping, still in my suit, dripping everywhere. The kind staff of the surf shop next door had been patiently (twas a little cold-brain-addled) helping me figure out a solution to the issue. Recovery blokes on their way, and with the surf shop closing, I was welcomed warmly into the cafe. Hot tea and some deliiiicious food were very kindly offered and gratefully accepted. Despite my stranded situation, I was cheering up rapidly thanks to the welcoming community and care of the staff. (and warming up thanks to the radiators and carefully placed space heater at my side) I cant thank you all enough, and I'm looking forward to my next visit to no end.

Myself, my sister and my mum came for a meal after visiting the markets. We hadnāt pre-booked but they had ample room for us anyway. The venue itself is beautiful and the service was impeccable, making it a very pleasant experience. All of our food came promptly and perfectly cooked. My sister and I had a burger whilst my mum had steak frites, all three portions were plenty (not all of us managed to finish the meal) which made the prices perfectly acceptable. My burger was delicious and unsurprisingly an award winner. It is a dog friendly establishment, including in the dining area, not that we minded but is helpful to note. As a whole, we had a very enjoyable time and we have collectively decided to come again soon, I canāt wait!

Now I get the name of the place having the word shack in so I should not have been so surprised at some of the things that made me blink in wonder. Wooden knives n forks. Drinks served in the can. Shabby blankets outside. No shellfish at all on the menu. Maybe I expected more but when I'm paying Ā£25 for a bit of fish trying to eat it with a small wooden fork is impossible. It was rather over done and the side potatoes were over salted (and I like salt!!). So much so I could not eat them. My friends faired a bit better with their kedgeree and both said it was nice. What really did get me though was the service charge put on. Think it was 15% Not sure what it was for as we were seved 3 meals and 3 cans of coke. The cost was just under Ā£80. I had looked forward to a very long time to eating here and was so disappointed.

Low Lights was great - the food was tasty and fresh, the staff were really friendly. We visited with our 3 yr old son and our dog and were welcomed in with no trouble. Kids portion was giant but our boy gave it a good go! Weāre big fans of Sam Fender so just had to visit the pub whilst we were in the area (we live in Hastings) and how good to see the Brit award in centre stage behind the bar as a beer pump! Next time weāre in the North weāll be back for sure.

Service was ok. But I truly think the filled rolls are very expensive for what you actually get. I won't be buying another. The atmosphere is great but with it being quite a large space I did find it hard to have a conversation with my friend. It only succeeded with more shouting than talking. Disappointed that there seems to be no reward scheme for users who attend linskill or ntas on a daily basis. If there is then it's poorly advertised.

We were greeted immediately by friendly waiting staff who asked if we need a high chair or help with the buggy. They showed us to a table and were really helpful and patient. The sandwiches, scones and coffees we ordered were all delicious and well-priced. The manager even came over came to check that my husband didnāt want his sandwich toasted! Such a beautiful cafe with wonderful food and staff.

In the wake of my 5* review of January this year, I'm dropping that to a 3. Service is excellent as ever, the venue is clean, smart as usual, but to have no lemon (or lime) on the premises for a G&T is lowly. It is a town centre. There is a supermarket at 1 minute's walk away. My G&T, basically 8 quid for a double, but it looks like I am having an Alka Seltzer. Not a chic moment

We came here as a bit of a change from our go to place, and VERY pleasantly surprised. Food was absolutely amazing and the staff were really helpful about allergy information/ingredients. Massive portions too!

This place is like something out of a movie, staff banter, menu list and quality is outstanding. If I could rate this higher I would double it! In the picture there is a massive haddock there but it's covered in chips and batter scraps.. Nom nom
