Buddha Lounge in North Tyneside

Had the bottomless here today. Two course and drinks. Felt absolutely worth the money, staff were on the ball and I defo had enough drinks with my meal. Great experience and great food. Would defo return. 👌

Thoroughly enjoyed our experience here. We got the sharing platter between 2 of us and it was really good value for money, we were both stuffed! Our server was Emma and she was lovely and so helpful.

Takeaway was shocking. Really expensive for what we got and they didn’t even give us the right dishes. We ordered sweet potato croquettes and got a single bao bun. The sharing platter was pitiful. Won’t be back

Absolutely amazing!! There was 2 of us and we ate and drank so much for only £60. The food was spectacular and the service was fantastic.

Had to ask numerous times for things. All the ladies toilets were out of loo roll and the food was average at best. Such as shame as it’s been ok the last few times we’ve been.

We had another great meal at the Buddha Lounge on Saturday. The food was delicious and served quickly. Jasmine was our waitress and looked after us very well. Several times she came and checked that we were ok and had everything we needed. It is rare these days to get good service so all credit to Jasmine, thanks. Espresso Martinis were great too. The only negative is the music is too loud but we knew about that before we went. Maybe they could create a quieter area for oldies, we are in 60s and took my mother in her 80s.

Diced carrot and a couple of tiny broccoli florets, poor excuse for a dish. Tofu fine, but overall a vegan let down.

I have had good lunches here, but this was our first evening meal. The service on a busy bank holiday Saturday was understandably slow and take a Sherpa with you if you need the washrooms, but the food was superb, plentiful and reasonably priced. The bench seating is a tad tight unless you are sylphen. We'll be back tho'. Strangely the tip is included in an evening bill (still optional), but not at lunchtime. Tends to be quiet during the day so no need to book. Special lunchtime menu which has 3 starters and 3 mains. Probably enough choice for most folk. Drinks are a tad expensive, but then it is a bit special. Update Never noticed before that there is a £2.50 surcharge on lunchtime bill if you choose prawns. No deserts on menu so went to Allards next door for them and coffee.

Went today with my dad, felt very welcome lovley staff and amazing food. So beautiful inside I'm a huge fan of the trees and art. Highly recommend to everyone. Thankyou for looking after us we had a blast

The flavours were surprisingly decent. The atmosphere was a little over the top for lunch but made for a great lounge.

Great place to eat, food was delicious, staff friendly and helpful. Popped in to day at lunchtime. Whole experience was just like first visit. Special was worth it and food delicious.

Lovely food. Bit of a sly trick asking if we’d like some prawn crackers whilst waiting for food to come and sticking £4 on the bill. Other than that would go back.

paid £12 for comically salty takeaway curry sauce and a fried chicken breast then was charged for rice without being told, constantly tried to upsell us, didn’t ask about allergens or check back once. bad craic

Pretty empty, nice Buddha, food pretty basic even though waitress said it was a big menu. No dessert menu. Didn't get the prawn crackers. Asked 3 times if we needed more drinks.. when we each had 2 full drinks. Greeted by a male in a formal shirt, walked over casually with hands in pockets. Steep stairs to walk into the restaurant and then more to the toilets, hand rails are very oddly low, so very hard for someone in heels to hold onto the handrail.

Very impressed by the Buddha Lounge! We didn't have a reservation but the welcoming staff found us a table within a minute despite it being busy. All the staff were friendly and very attentive. The food was delicious and there were plenty of vegan options. There's a superb offering of drinks too. It's a stunning venue that creates a great atmosphere.

Booked a table for 6.30 on a Sunday night. Place was quiet - food was underwhelming. We had a couple of beers and paid the bill. Was approached at 7.15 to be told they needed the table back in 5 minutes. We were decidedly unimpressed with the whole experience. Avoid!!

A great place to eat a good variety of food and drinks. We had a family meal Their and the staff were great and patient with the kids orders. Would definitely be visiting again. A good location with a few bars in surrounding area.

Second time I've eaten at the Buddha lounge and it most definitely doesn't disappoint. Amazing restaurant with amazing food. Next time I'm in the north I will be booking here again. If you haven't eaten here then I highly recommend

Always love coming here, love the food, service and the decor. Down marked atmosphere as we were the only ones in (lunchtime weekday). We had the express lunch, which was hot and delicious!

Gorgeous building. Would like to know its history. Chicken chow mien was not good. Thin noodles with 2 pieces of green pepper. Chicken was warm and then cold in parts. Plenty chicken biy couldn't eat it. Poor staff didn't know how to respond to me when I said the Chicken was cold and I couldn't eat it. She asked did I want to take it home. Staff training obviously needed. Didn't charge me for it. Others in the party enjoyed their food.

Just had starters. All the food was good, apart from the honey spare ribs, which were very fatty and not much actual meet. The waiters in general were polite but the guy showing us to the table and taking our order did not seem to care. He had his hands in his pockets and just seemed a bit aloof and not really interested. For me, having worked in the hospitality industry for years, it seemed a bit strange and detracted from the experience. I would definitely go again but would hope he was not on shift.

Outstanding service 👏 My daughter and her fiance treated myself and his mother to a nice meal. They couldn't have picked a better place, the food was amazing 😋 🙌 a the staff are all first class. A big shout out to Eric, Rui and Jackson who never left us unattended and kept the cocktails 🍸 flowing. You certainly get the 5 🌟 treatment. I will definitely be back and would highly recommend anyone to eat here, such a lovely atmosphere. Keep up the good work guys Xx

Absolutely stunning restaurant. The overall vibe of the place is amazing, great music and at a level that you can still talk and hear your own thoughts, and the food is absolutely stunning. It's mainly focused around Asian tapas which is actually really refreshing. First time of having anything like this other than the weirdness of Wagayamamas but here it works so well. And was absolutely delicious - the katsu was lush, salt and pepper chips, and the Satay chicken was tasty as out!!!!

Food was good when it eventually arrived, but chips came after meal finished, and only after I asked twice where they were. Trying to get a drink took a very long time, with 3 different staff apparently serving our table. Shame about the service as lovely place inside.

Lovely place. We went for our anniversary dinner and were given free prosecco and wished a happy Anniversary. Very kind and thoughtful gesture and just added to our special day. Look forward to eating here again.

I’ve been to Buddha lounge many times from day time lunch to evening bottomless brunch. I have to share my experience tonight. Both me and my husband are vomiting after this evenings meal. Our chow mein was swimming in grease and the beef just did not taste right/ was also greasy. When the waiter asked how our food was we highlighted our concerns and they were ignored. I have never felt so sickly off a meal, and I’m assuming it was the amount of grease on our plates. I will Not be back in a hurry after being a customer for the years it has been open. Although I have had positive experiences here the lack of consideration from the waiter and the results of this evening has 100% effected my experiences here. My recommendations are: teach your staff to deal with concerns and go back to the old chef If possible!!!

Had a great time. There was 9 of us for my daughters 21st, including my 7 and 9 year old, and the rest were adults. Service was really good and quick, and they brought her out a desert with a candle and started singing 'Happy birthday' and the rest of the punters joined in. Food was very nice too. Would defo recommend and will defo be back

We joined the team at Buddha Lounge for our anniversary dinner last night, and everything was just great! Online booking was easy, and when I called to confirm my booking, as the email ended up in my Junkmail, the host was most accommodating. From the welcome at the door, the friendly staff, the romantic table selected for us on our special occasion, the complimentary glass of celebration Prosecco, the awesome music and the delicious food: We had a lovely time and we will definitely be back. Sorry - No photos of the food! It was eaten before we could even think of reaching for a phone. YUM! Also, some great Gluten Free options for me, at no extra cost, which was very refreshing.

Absolute Chaos. Firstly, I was given a knife and fork to eat my sushi?? Almost impossible as it falls to bits. Prawn crackers were offered, as we'd waited so long for our food. When it eventually came, they gave me chicken instead of the prawn katsu curry I'd ordered. I waited and waited. So I started eating when everyone else was half way through. Wrong drinks were given. I don't know what they're issue is, but they need to get their act together. I won't be returning.

Fantastic service from start to finish, staff really helpful at all times even changed our table so we were on the lowest floor with me being on crutches made us feel very welcome. Food was out of this world arrived fairly quickly and was beautifully presented. Think this has been one of the restaurants we have been to and will definitely be back. Good food good customer service 👌.

Food and service was excellent but can only give 2 stars because of entrance - there is no handrail on the main steps and as my mobility is not the best I found this not good customer service at all - I felt as though I was being discriminated against - surely there should also be a toilet on the ground floor - such a shame as I thought that everyone in 2022 is supposed to be treat the same

What’s the point on being on Uber eats when you just cancel the orders. Rubbish service, bet if my order was £100 rather than £20 you’d have had the money. Another here today gone tomorrow joke. Seems you have a lot of other bad reviews with no response. Shows how much you care.

Had an amazing meal here with the family 2 adults two children. So much menu choice, especially being vegetarian. The food portions are amazing aswell as the quality. Colouring packs were offered to the children which were great. Would highly recommend.

Serving staff, first lady was very nice who took our order and the young lad who served our food were polite. The lad behind the bar was very rude when I asked twice for the music to be turned down, I was having to shout over the music to make this point. Lad said 'well it is Saturday'. I couldn't care less, it's 6pm with families inside with young children, it's a restaurant not a nightclub!! This annoyed our table before the food arrived. But I wish I saw the ladies toilet before food otherwise I wouldn't of bothered and gone elsewhere. Flooded toilets, water all over in each cubicle, every toilet blocked with paper and one let's say for better words one had not bothered to flush after a no.2. Absolutely disgusted.

Food was very good, especially the sticky toffee pudding , and the staff very attentive.

Decent food. Good wine. A right laugh. My default dinner destination when back up in Tynemouth. Great variety of food, plenty for veggies and vegans. Excellent wine. The place is just fun. Doesn't take itself too seriously. There's a tree and a giant golden Buddah inside. Which is hilarious when you know the history of this venue: a Presbyterian church, an antiques store, a night club with a lighty up dance floor, and now a restaurant. Last time we went the portion sizes were generous. The food is half decent. Nothing world changing, but one of my favourite places to go for dinner.

Only giving this a 4/5 because we never actually had food there.. but it smelt and looked amazing. We went here for 24£10 cocktails and they were tremendous. The woman on the bar making drinks with dark hair she really put passion into each drink which I respect alot. Proof is in the pudding! Ps. Try the mango sticky rice cocktail TO DIE FOR

Large place, great staff who are attentive, was a bit disappointed with the taste of the green thai curry, which was ok but I've had tastier, sorry.

Food has been superb but, with a 6.15pm reservation I didn’t expect the music to be so loud that I felt I was in a nightclub. I couldn’t believe that me, who loves loud music, would ask for it to be turned down just a touch? My friends and I had to shout across the table to be heard and still struggled. Is this a restaurant? A club? A nightclub? Such a shame as food really was lovely…

Amazing food and atmosphere. Didn't have a booking and they couldn't have been more accommodating. Every member of staff we interacted with were friendly and engaging. As parents that rarely get a night out this high level of service, food and drink is something we really appreciate and made it all the more special.

Appalling. I could never recommend this restaurant to anyone. I had been a few times previously and never had the best service but the food was always great. Unfortunately this time the food couldn't make up for the shambles we witnessed. It was exhausting. Took 3 hours for us to all get fed. We constantly turned food away that wasn't ours, had to chase up food that was ours, got charged on the bill for stuff that was out of stock, got served frozen inedible food. The list just goes on and on. Apart from the manager apologising and refunding for the frozen food served to us, it felt like we were an utter inconvenience for the staff. We asked for paper menus and were told to us the app. The app has no explanation as to what the food contains. So you're basically ordering something you like the sound of. I would urge anyone to avoid this place like the plague. I will never ever go back.
