Very watery massaman. Carrots tasted bitter and potatoes weren't cooked. Chicken however was extremely dry. The prawn crackers were fried oil and very thin. Hate to leave a bad review but it was a very disappointing meal!

Honestly 1 star is generous. I'm no Karen and I very rarely write reviews but this was such a disappointing meal. The massaman was so watery and didn't taste like any massaman I've ever had (UK or Thailand). The carrots in it were bitter, potatoes uncooked and the chicken dry. The panang curry was equally disappointing and the prawn crackers tasted nothing like prawn crackers but instead oily fried bubbles, they were very thin and yet so greasy. Sorry for the harshness but it really was terrible

Only had a takeaway last week. I don't think I've had such a poor takeaway in a very long time. I had yellow curry with prawns, prawns were so rubbery and didn't quite taste right, egg fried rice had no egg just a bit of soy. The sauce tasted ok but the prawns made it quite bad. My partner had a red curry with some rice and his wasn't much better either. Delivery was prompt though.

The food is really bland and the potatoes are not cooked evenly, the pai Thai tastes like Chinese food somehow and the white part of the spring onion is raw. Not worth it

Was disappointed at onion rings. I expected them to be home made from the description and price but they were frozen and soggy. Pad thai was lovely. Satay chicken only had about 1tbs of sauce with them.

Eat there a a-lot and have done for years. Still amazing food and so cheap. Best Thai food around!

Hate giving negative reviews as I know the hospitality industry has had it tough the last several years and are still struggling. But this was baaaaaaaad. Food was really bland, the beef massaman had a thick layer of oil on top and it tasted overly strong of fish (I know fish sauce is used in the base of the dish bit it was overpowering) The rice tasted stale like it had been sat around all day. The sauces for the curries were really thin as well. On Top of this we found hairs in both the rice and one of the Currys. Soon as these were discovered we were put off of all our food instantly. Can't really rate the service or atmosphere as got the food as takeout. Awful stuff. Won't be back. Don't recommend.

Possibly the worst Thai food I’ve ever had, even supermarkets can make better, more authentic tasting Thai dishes. The green curry I ordered was mostly bland and had far too much chili in it. We will not be ordering from here again.

We ordered a takeout meal via Deliveroo last week. We ordered Thai style noodles, chicken with chilli &Thai basil along with some sides The main dishes were tasteless, very poor. The chicken was very chewy, not enjoyable at all. The rice was stodgy, clumped in balls in sections. The prawn crackers were stale and soggy. Absolutely terrible. We ended up leaving the majority of the food. Very disappointed

great delivery. food was the worst food I've ever tasted. arrived with 5mm of oil on top of each dish. Both dishes tasted bad. Had a couple of mouthfuls and couldn't eat it. Even the rice was bad!

Food was awful. Satay chicken skewers were dry. Thai Hamouk curry was a watery mess - it supposed to be thick. I couldn’t eat it. The pad Thai was dry. Soup was ok. Prawn crackers stale. Won’t be returning. Delivery time was ok.

The food was not very authentic Thai cuisine. It tasted, and was presented, like generic westernised Chinese food. Sorry, I will not be back!

Just had a lovely meal here. It is my wife's birthday and we went early and had the place all to ourselves. The lady in the kitchen is lovely and the cooking was incredible. I had the Chicken Panang curry and my wife had the Trout with Ginger. And very reasonably priced. We will be back soon.

Food was delivered on time and was hot. Red Thai curry was good however prawn crackers were either stale or if cooked fresh, the oil used to cook them was old. Prawns in oyster sauce were okay, sauce were watery but prawns were of a good size. Wouldn't be in a hurry to order again.

Some of the dishes seemed like they had been previously frozen then microwaved or something else that would make the sauces split and not creamy.

I dont like to complain, especially to local businesses that may be struggling in these current times. However the food quality was really poor (yet the cost of the dishes are not). Didn’t taste or feel like authentic Thai food. Had better from a supermarket and that’s not easy to say. Food was late with no communication from the restaurant until I lodged a complaint with just eat. Whilst the food was hot when it eventually arrived, the quality was not satisfactory.

Really wish this place would sort out the quality issue . The beef is so chewy in the curry’s however the Tom yum soup is nice and the penang and massaman sauce is lush just the meat let’s it down big time really want to support my local business But not if they not helping themselves unfortunately

35 mins late so was cold, food contained more a watery sauce with little flavour so food was soggy won’t be ordering again

Why people leave this place bad reviews I will never know. First time we tried it as a take away and it’s absolutely delicious we had hot and sour king prawn soup which is the tastiest soup I’ve ever eaten. Beef massaman and chicken penang which were lush the food is really tasty can’t believe this place in on my doorstep and never tried it real taste of Thailand 🇹🇭 will be dining in next time thank you 🙏

The food here is really good, we had the beef and ginger which was really tasty and the red Thai curry was probably the best we’ve had (on par with that in Thailand I think) really cute little upstairs restaurant. Will be back!

I ordered a vegetable pad thai, satay chicken and fried tofu. The vegetables in the pad thai were rotten. It was disgusting, unsafe and inedible. The chicken was rough and old. I couldn't eat it. Very possibly the worst food I've ever been ordered.

Great food. Very quiet upstairs restaurant. It can be easy to miss because it is just a door at street level.

My delivery was late by over an hour, despite it saying on just eat that it had been delivered by 9pm my food did not actually arrive until after 10pm. I tried calling the restaurant numerous times however did not get an answer, and also did not get a response via just eat asking for an update until an hour after my food arrived (2 hours after me asking for an update) By the time my food arrived it was freezing cold, with the quality not being good either. Both chicken dishes were very dry chicken, and the curry itself was so watery it has zero taste, and oil sitting on top of it. By the time I tried to raise this issue again I could not get any response from the restaurant as I imagine that had closed. I would never order from here again down to this experience and not only did I completely waste my night waiting for this food which was by no means enjoyable, I also completely wasted money on it.

Despite being likely cone of the first orders, the food wasn’t particularly warm. The prawn crackers were soft, it was as though they were leftovers from last night. Although they were tasty, the fish cakes were extremely dry, chewy, and inedible. The spring rolls were ok, but they could have been crispier, and the sweet and sour chicken was ok as well, but the chicken could have done with some seasoning. Overall a rather disappointing first visit to this takeaway, and not one we’ll be repeating in a hurry.

Although the delivery was slightly late the guy did apologise very politely, and the the food was so so delicious it more than made up for it. Would definitely order again.

We had a birthday party at Bankok Palace the food and service couldn’t be faulted . I would highly recommend. The only reason I am giving 4 stars not 5 is because the decor is dated .

Food was watery, strange ingredients - like the restaurant had run out of the proper vegetables. We've ordered here before and it was good but this time was disappointing and as it was a treat we felt it was a waste of money. Very little chicken and prawns and it didn't taste that great. More sauce that food. Really sorry we won't be coming back as WB has very little Thai food.

Terrible, just avoid. I ordered the "Thai Style" Beef soup and got a pot of beef stock with peas, carrots, celery, potato and a token gesture of beef in it. About as Thai as King Charles. Also got the chicken satay skewers. The chicken was barely even warm and bone dry. I guess the sauce was kinda ok but could have benefited from being heated. Maybe that would have warmed the chicken some more, too. Then I got the seafood salad which, again, didn't evoke any impressions of Thai food. A weird mess of chunky tomato wedges, cucumber, carrot, cabbage, spring onion, celery and onion dumped on top of a few green lip mussels, prawns and squid bits which were all cooked into oblivion and were more reminiscent of rubber than food. The entire affair was then doused in some nondescript dressing which just tasted salty but not of much else. Well, chillies, I guess. The concoction was quite spicy. So yeah, might as well have taken the 20 quid and chucked it in the bin, which, coincidentally, is exactly where this absolute tragedy of a meal will end up.

I’d definitely recommend eating here! We had the prawn pad Thai and the choo chee curry and the portion sizes were amazing for the price and the food was gorgeous. 10/10 will be going back

Thai food is my favourite and I have never eaten from Bangkok Palace, so I was really looking forward to my takeaway, a change from my usual Chinese. So when this meal arrived I was very disappointed. The food on the whole was bland which is not something you would normally associate with Thai. Except for the basil and chili beef where the beef was like rubber.. such a shame.

We have had meals from here lots of times and it always tastes lovely. Tonight though, it was absolutely delicious! We tried some different meals off the menu including the Thai beef salad. Everything was full of flavour! Thank you for a delicious take away.

Food was rather cold when it arrived. And the satay didn’t arrive with any peanut sauce. Rice was also rock hard. The tempura veg was very stodgy, and it is hard for tempura to travel well I get that- but this was over battered and not tasteful and there was no chilli sauce. Which was what the menu said it came with. Unfortunately I won’t be ordering again. The delivery driver was very nice and apologised for the delay.

Such a shame that the meals were very obviously sauces with whatever meat added at the last minute , in fairness the sauces were tasty but when chicken is just added and tasteless it spoils the meals completely, yellow Thai chicken curry consisted of a few carrots and a bit if chicken, Thai green had peppers, onion and bamboo shoots so was more substantial but less chicken May have been an off night as looked at previous reviews but we won't be back.....

Couldn’t find a local Thai takeaway and eventually found this one. The decor is very tatty and basic- really could do with a refit. But the food was really really good. I ordered pad Thai. It was the perfect balance of sour, sweet, savoury, and light with spring onions, peanuts, fried egg and a slice of lemon. Just the right balance and consistency and delicious without being oily. Really good. Tasted very like the local pad Thai I had in koh toa and kanchanaburi. The only place better in the UK for pad Thai is ting Thai caravan in Edinburgh.

I always knew this place existed but never actually tried. It was an incredibly hot sunny day, so the rest of Whitley bay were out in the sunshine and my partner and I had the restaurant to ourselves! The waiter was very helpful and talked us through some of the dishes we had never tried before. Food was fresh and delicious. Very reasonably priced for both food and drinks. Probably only about 6 tables inside, so recommend booking if you want to give it a try!

My husband doesn’t like Thai food. I ordered a Thai meal and he loved it! Now, after 18 years of Mairrage I can order Thai take out. Thank you, Bancock Palace.

No issues with ordering, and delivered promptly but food was sadly not up to scratch. Starters OK, but both main dishes had serious issues - yellow curry watery and separated with hardly any chicken, other dish essentially curdled. Disappointing.

Dropped in whilst away on a business trip. Yes the exterior and entrance is rather tired but do not let that put you off. The service was Quick and food fresh and tasty. Great value for money too. Will return if in the area again.

Order delivered wrong with multiple wrong food items

Our food was cold, the battered mushrooms and fish cakes were limp and soggy and it was delivered late despite us ordering before the restaurant opened.

Thai fishcakes weren't as nice as we've had elsewhere. Curries were lovely though.

This is my first takeaway from Bangkok Palace and I am really impressed. Satay chicken was delicious followed by red Thai beef curry. Good size portions with plenty of flavour and good tender meats. This was good value for money, I will definitely eat from here again.

On my first visit I have found that this place is how can I say amazing. I have lived in the area for the past two years and have been aware of this Restaurant but I have never ever been able to get there. This evening I decided to go and have a look. When I got in I asked about gluten-free and was promptly told by the staff that pretty much everything was and they only pointed out the stuff that wasn’t. So I decided being hungry that I would start with a soup followed by a couple of starters and then a main dish. It was very quiet that evening however there was a steady turnover. My food came out quite quickly and was very hot. The flavours were amazing and so were the spices. I have eaten in other restaurants that are chains that sell suppose it Thai food however I have found that this one was not a chain and is independent sells authentic Thai food and the dishes that they supply are very reminiscent of food that I ate in Thailand. It is very reasonably priced and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. My only regret is that I have not been to this place sooner. But I will definitely definitely be going back again and recommending it to friends and family

Absolute perfect food. Fresh ingredients. I was 2 weeks in withley bay and eaten 3 times there. I wish this restaurant and take away is closer to my home. One of the best I ever had. And I travel a lot. I am also a trained chef. Thank you very much.

Good food, arrived slightly early but no problem.

Worse starters i had in my life. 7 burnt, cold and soggy onion rings, same with the chips cold and soggy. The mains one was ok beef curry, but the chicken cashew nut was disappointed. All submerge like in a pool of water and oil. Overall i will give another try just in case the chefs were having a bad day :)

Green curry was nice, but side of fried tofu and spring rolls were dry and overcooked - I ate some and binned the rest. Delivery took 90mins to arrive (15 mins later than their latest delivery time) and was lukewarm. Driver was nice and apologised for delay. Maybe a one-off bad experience but it’s put me off ordering again.

Best Thai food I’ve had outside of Thailand and in such a nondescript building as well! Genuine hidden gem - you have to give this place a try!

Let me walk you through my experience…… When I entered the floor was extremely sticky. And the place just looks out dated. They do not take COVID into consideration. The menus seem like they have never been wiped down. PERIOD. I ordered lemonade for a drink. The first cup I received had black dots floating in it. I asked for another and it tasted flat. Later on, while eating our mains the waiter asked if we’d like a refill. He brought the bottle of lemonade which looked like it was opened days before because there was no bubbles. I understood THEN why my drink was flat. Do not order the ribs or chicken satay as appetizers. They tasted like they were cooked from frozen. Was just absolutely terrible. It was like it was put in a microwave and placed on a plate. The ONLY good thing on the menu was the green curry with my mother ordered. Honestly, don’t waste your money. It’s over priced and you’ll be drinking detox tea for like the next 5 days to get it out your system. Like what I’m currently doing now -____-
