Good food, friendly efficient service. Definitely worth a return visit.

Have eaten here many times before and it's been great, however, after my most recent visit I won't be returning. My partner has coeliac disease, meaning she must eat gluten free. We were told by the staff that the tacos were naturally gluten-free and that the only 'may contain' was in the cumin used in the meat options. We stressed that she is coeliac therefore cannot have even a may contain. She therefore ordered a vegetarian taco. Upon getting home, she had a serious and painful reaction and was ill for 3 days afterwards, suggesting this wasn't just cross contamination but something present in the ingredients themselves (even though we were assured this wasn't a risk). A reaction to gluten like this can cause serious and long term damage to the to the health of someone with coeliac disease, not to mention it being incredibly painful & upsetting on an emotional level. Perhaps if there is not a true understanding of allergy awareness, gluten free food should not be offered.

Lovely restaurant and excellent attentive staff - all ordered from our table. The lunch menu knocked a couple of quid off each meal and the range available was excellent. Our meals took a little while to arrive but they were all amazing - best Burritos I've ever had. Definitely give it a go if you don't want fish and chips - we'll definitely be back. Brilliant restaurant! Loads of options available including vegetarian and vegan options. Mexican beers and tequilas available too as well as cocktails. If travelling by metro it’s best to get off at Tynemouth and walk down towards North Shields fish quay.

4 of us booked a table here and were really glad we did, what started off as quiet soon filled up with hardly any tables left. Wide variety of food and drinks on the menu and every meal we ordered we weren’t disappointed with. Great friendly helpful service to top things off. We will definitely be back thank you

This is easily becoming our favourite weekend spot just before taking a walk on the promenade. We always have the burritos and they are massive and so tasty. We have tried both the chicken and beef versions and they are equally good. We have also tried the enchiladas and they were perfect. The design is quite quirky as well. We love it here.

One of my favourite places to eat at down the fish quay, tacos are amazing and they also do breakfast's.

Amazing fresh, zingy food that’s top notch!! Never had a bad meal here (or Little Lobo) Tostadas are fabulous as little sides or starters! I usually get the naked blackened prawn burrito bowl or 3 tacos.. outstanding food!! My only gripe is that you can’t get frozen Margs in all of them.. only Little Lobos in Tynemouth.. gutted! We managed on the normal margaritas however which were exceptional!! You just can’t go wrong here… I recommend going in the Dow space between the lunchtime crowd & evening.. staff super attentive & service speedy!! Good value for great quality!

Without doubt the worst meal both of us have ever had, Nachos was burned, cheese very oily and tasteless, steak tacos were inedible as the steak was very rubbery and stone cold due to the being completely covered in a flowery flavoured salsa and mounds of coriander. Burrito tasted exactly like the taco with the rubbery steak. Chilli fries were drenched in a hot chilli powder and inedible. Visited on a recommendation but certainly won’t return. Service was good and I paid the service charge despite the inedible food.

This restaurant is pretty great; excellent service and food; pleasant atmospher and surroundings. I will definately be going again.

Great mexican food, friendly waiter was the owner, did amazing though definitely they need another staff member to help! However, when our churros and coctail were late, they gave it to us on the house. Totally uneccassary as we were happy to wait but felt so special that they were so generous. Tacos were excellent, the steak and pork being my favourite!

Best Mexican food I've had in the UK by a long shot. I am from Texas and have struggled to find good Mexican here. We don't live nearby but will be making trips out here again!

Lovely meal. I am a huge fan of coriander but ngl this was a bit too much kind of overpowered the dish! Would come again though, I'd just try a different dish.

Called in for breakfast today and what a breakfast it was. I personally had the steak and eggs and it was brilliant. My Son had a huge portion of pancakes and my wife had the cali fry up. Everyone left full and happy!

Great evening with my wife & daughter. Even better as it was 'Taco Tuesday'. After some tasty nacho starters, we ordered every non-vegetarian taco, which is served in pairs giving us plenty of variety. We all had our favourite & agreed that they were all excellent & very substantial. Lots of filling & lots of taste. Drink options included some Mexican sodas which we tried. Service was prompt and excellent. Definitely be back very soon.

Ordered a delivery Burrito Box with a steak wrap and fries. I was disappointed with the 12 fries, and the steak burrito had mint in it, which was a bit strange. Not the best.

Popped in for a mid week early tea. No other customers in hence marked slightly down for atmosphere but it meant we got a great window seat to watch the setting sun. Service was great and I do it hi knit was because we were the only customers as it felt genuine. We both had the toasted sandwiches me chicken and the other half beef. Served with fries. They were delicious. Tender meat great dressings a real mess to eat but worth it Will definitely be back to sample more of the menu. Thank you

Absoulutely disgusted at the meal we have just had (or didn't have) The place was freezing. Took over half an hour to bring our nachos which were the worst ever. Then took the plate away and brought our main courses straight away and mine was stone cold. Sent it back waited another 15 minutes for it never arrived by which time my husband had finished his so we walked out disgusted. Totally spoilt birthday celebrations. We were the only ones in so how on earth could they not get it right

Walk in on a Tuesday, place was busy which was a good sign. Building was absolutely freezing cold which wasn't ideal. Food arrived and was luke warm at best. 10% service charge also automatically added when the bill arrives which is a pet hate.

Lovely food, well flavoured .Service and staff very good, nice ambiance but just a bit chilly could of done with some heating on or ramped up. Other wise a great experience would definitely return .My husband and son had the burritos would definitely recommend them .

Easily our favourite Mexican restaurant. Food is always delicious and well presented. They cater well for my partner who is Coeliac (GF). Staff are always friendly and atmosphere is great. Little Lobo in Tynemouth is also great!

I had a good experience here with the staff and the food was good. The ambience is quite nice and you can enjoy yourself. Juicy Steaks, well marinated.

Took ages for the food to come to table, over 30 minutes. Barely warm when it arrived. Chips were very greasy, almost sickly. Salsa wasn't the best either. Margaritas are very small. Staff are friendly.

First of all, the premises is freezing. We waited 20 minutes for our drinks and to order food. The food was very average which was disappointing because when we visited in February it was amazing. The food took longer than average to arrive which again added to the disappointment. After finishing, we were sat with empty drinks for 5 minutes and our finished plates. I asked a staff member for a dessert menu and I was presented with the bill instead? I then asked if I could have a dessert menu instead? The guy then disappeared for a second then returned with the bill and said we had 10 minutes on our table so couldn’t have a dessert. He then immediately said oh no someone’s not showed up so you can. In all my years I have never experienced anything like it, I understand you are allocated a time slot for a table but considering the service was so slow I think it’s unfair to pretty much kick us off the table. We mentioned this to the waiter after he kept a 12.5% service on the bill, he said “I understand” that we wanted this removed and then walked away? I would avoid this place during busy times

This might sound all bit too negative but I just want to start off by saying I did enjoy my food and it was a nice to place to eat. Food was great except they use so much parsley and coriander and other herbs as such that all the meals are just swallowed by that. Everything was fresh and nice though and didn’t take too long to get to the table. However most of the staff would stand at the bar and ignore us and the people next to us. When we first sat down the girl who greeted us then went and started making and serving drinks and then finally sat us down which was slightly awkward cause why would you greet us and ask how many of us for a table and then go do other jobs? It wasn’t that much of a deal until she sat us down and then forgot about us for ten minutes without any menus. Didn't prep table either.. Super awkward until one lady came over and said oh I’m sorry I thought you ordered you should’ve got menus. Ordering was fine, and receiving the food was good. But kept noticing the lad next to us was ignored throughout our whole meal without a drink or a menu. No one did a check back so I couldn’t get any Mayo. As someone that is quite shy it is hard to just raise your hand and get someone’s attention so I didn’t really help myself. The service charge was 12.5% which they automatically put on, unless you ask them to take it off, which I think is really cheeky. You feel embarrassed to ask for them to take it off. We don’t live in America we shouldn’t have to pay tip and feel obliged to. You pay the wages not me. Although I sound fairly negative in this post I did like the food and atmosphere but I would just be wary the next time I go.

Lobo Rojo is one of my favourite restaurants and I've been here several times! We love getting the tacos to share, the margarita's are fab, and I really have a soft spot for their ice cream taco's 😂 I also want to note that the team were fantastic when I went with someone who is GF/DF due to allergies - they showed us which tacos they could do GF/DF (which was most of them on the menu), and in the end, we went for all food that was and our friend had the best time being able to try whatever she wanted on our table. The team went above and beyond, and we always have a fantastic visit! Highly recommend!

Good food, great Margaritas, friendly service set in a very chilled out bar

One of my fellow diners got a container of tortillas.... containing no tortillas. I really wanted a tortilla dish as a starter but was told it was not possible. Despite that I am sticking to my favourable ratings because the young serving team were great and the food was good.

Amazing food, the best guacamole we’ve ever tasted, everything was so fresh! Cocktails were good too, 2 margaritas for £12! And they were lovely. We had a few other cocktails & shared 6 tacos between two of us, it was more than enough food for us, perfect for dinner. And Liam was lovely! Nothing was too much to ask, thanks Liam! We’re back on Saturday 😁 P.s we had eaten half the food before we remembered to take photos sorry!

We tried to get a table one Friday night a few weeks ago but was fully booked . So we rang and booked up just to be on the safe side . We ordered a mixture of starters and mains . Food was tasty and presentation fabulous. Tacos were our favourite portion size was quite small we thought . Cocktails were absolutely beautiful. Bit pricey 🤑 overall definitely will return. 😋😋

Lovely cocktails, delicious food, and super service! We've been several times, and will be back again. Having 3 varieties of my favourite Tequila on offer is also awesome! Just wish it was cold, but that's a personal preference, and by no means a criticism. The 4 chilli sauce (name escapes me) is absolutely mouthwatering! See ya soon, Lobo Rojo! 😊😊😊

Came here for a birthday meal. The food was great, reminded me of some of the more authentic Mexican food I've had in the past. My wife and I shared some nachos, asada tacos and carnitas, all of which were very nice. Loads of fresh ingredients and well cooked, beef was lovely and soft in the Carne Asada. Ordered the tray of salsas, they were very well made, one of which was very spicy, made with what I think was habanero and not scotch bonnet which is often a mistake with Mexican, just doesn't provide the right flavour. We also had some cocktails, these were very nice and refreshing too. I'll definitely be back, maybe try the one in Sandyford first as it's a little closer.

Had a meal here 2 weeks ago then had food delivered on the following Sunday and everything was burnt on the bottom a waste of 65 pounds never will have food delivered

We have waited to try this place for a while and only living up the road. We are disappointed with our service. Staff were too busy talking to each other or with the chefs and leaning on each other Infront of our table whilst giggling with the chefs. It was far too loud between people talking and music from the restaurant and the kitchen, we found it hard to talk to each other and we both left with headaches. Food was average but laced with coriander on everything. The service charge added was quite rude considering we had to ask for everything including just going to bar to pay on leaving. Portions for the price are small and not really full meals unless you ordered a buritto which looked a standard size meal. We sadly won't be returning or recommending to others.

A quiet lunchtime at half term. Took my aged parents for their first ever mexican food. Mum has advanced alzheimers. Dad and she shared 6 tacos, their first ever, and enjoyed every bite. My children had the Big Juan Burrito and some tacos, and really loved them. I had a lovely beef and rice dish which was full of favour. If that was all, then yes, it's enough for lots of stars, but the waitress was also cheerful and lovely, and helped with everything we needed, being unphased by wheelchair and all that. Made it all the better. Thanks

The wait for the food after ordering was almost 50 minutes. Fries with cheese came and it looked like they had been scraped from the bottom of the fryer after being there for the day, trying to hide it with the cheese. Small portions, very disappointed

Our second time coming here, and the foods always lovely. We got 2 Pollo tacos, a steak and prawn burrito, with some pollo fries and nachos. All really nice, the quantity of food is never an issue, but I always feel it just needs a liiiiittle bit more something something. Maybe just a bit more seasoning or spice. Still. Lovely time, staff are great, but I do think a pre-placed gratuity to "support our workers" is a sly move. If you want to support your workers, give them a comfortable living wage, and don't put customers in the awkward situation of having to ask the gratuity to be taken off if they chose to do so.

Nice breakfast, comfy but not greasy. Ask for pineapple sala, only if can handle the heat.

Recommended booking as it was rammed, even on the Tuesday night we attended. Great selections of different mexican food available on offer. Decent selection of wines, beers and cocktails. Service was fast and friendly. The atmosphere was great with a view of the kitchen area too. Will definitely be visiting again.

Yum! Gorgeous place and great staff made this whole experience brilliant for a birthday (and left me wanting more!). I had shrimp tostada and steak tortas which were excellent. Lots of fresh flavours. Love crispy nachos and crust fresh bread. Steak and shrimp were cooked to perfection and generous. Cocktails were also delicious and there was great choice. I had the Shields sunrise and my mates had some special margaritas not on the menu. Birthday person gets free tequila. Really recommend here. I'm dying to go back

Would of been 5 stars normally really good service the foods always good but was a let down I asked on the phone to sing happy birthday to my friend and didn't, come over with the cake and said sorry the candle went out on the way to the table no effort what's so ever weren't busy either am not normally a one to complain but this was the only let down for me this time round then added a service charge don't get what that was for we would of tipped but not if it was gonna be effortless don't come here if it's anyone's birthday! I didn't say anything when paid and left but didn't want to make a scene or anything just wanted to try and embarss my mate abit 😂 Ps will be back but only for food not for any birthday's :)

Despite passing by many times, I had visited Lobo Rojo before but I had good reports from other family members. When we needed somewhere on the fish quay for a casual lunch and a beer with family, it seemed ideal. It’s quite a large restaurant so although you can book, you may get a table as a walk in most times. It’s an informal vibe - Mexican themed with a mix of larger tables down to tables for two. It’s dog friendly at lunch time (although you will need a table in the bar area - same service/food). Staff were friendly and efficient and the food exceeded my expectations. There’s plenty of variety, seafood, meat and veggie. Portions vary from tapas size up to big plates. I had a prawn burrito which was both large and tasty . Excellent place for a casual meal with friends.

Recently visited Lobo Rojo for a birthday and I can confidently say that it was an incredible experience. The food was simply amazing - every dish was bursting with flavor and made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The attention to detail in each dish is evident and the presentation is stunning. What really made my experience at Lobo Rojo stand out was the exceptional service provided by the staff. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of my dining experience was perfect! Overall, I cannot recommend Lobo Rojo enough. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff are truly exceptional.
