Longsands Restaurant in North Tyneside

We stopped in here instead of opting to eat on the Newcastle-Amsterdam ferry. Brilliant move as the fish and chips (cod) were outstanding. I'm a bit picky about fish and chips in general as we get very fresh fish over on the West Coast of Scotland. Longsands massively delivered as the fish was really fresh and the chips excellent. Food was on the table very promptly and the serving staff were super friendly and helpful. Not the cheapest perhaps but for such quality it is a no brainer. Also opted for the curry sauce which was also excellent. Would definitely do this again prior to paying £25 each on the ferry for very medicore food. The bill for 4 of us was only £65 at Longsands!!!

Spending the day taking a long walk along the coast, 4 hours into my walk & I am ready for lunch. The cod & chip from here are amazing. Set me right up for the return journey. 10/10

We went for the first time as the last time it was closed although it was after 20.30 Any way we decided to try the fish and chips so we went in , Fantastic place nice friendly staff could not believe the size of the fish good portion of chips maybe too many peas were also nice . We have decided to make this a monthly place to visit, Also the coffee ☕️ was nice and hot we had a 2nd cup .

We asked for our fish to be well cooked as if it’s not we have found the batter near the fish to be uncooked, once again the batter was uncooked ( soggy) The chips were lukewarm not a great experience

We walked past and saw with amazement the portion size of the Fish & Chips people were eating on tables outside, with a quick chat between us we lined up and purchased a Take Away to eat on the beach. I have to say it was the most deliciously freshly cooked Fish & chips I've eaten, full of flavour , tender fish and worth every penny. What really appealed to me was the Daily board of where the Fish had been caught and where the potato's are from, A Mitchell Star on the Way ??

I heard this is the best fish and chips in the north east.. and I’m not going to argue with that! Busy on a Sunday afternoon but a very slick and efficient service, a lot of chip shops could learn from how they’ve mastered this. They also do click and collect, and there’s some seating outside. Lovely girls working there too. £11 for cod and chips. Fish was amazing, batter perfect, great chips and a delicious curry sauce. A few other sauce options too including homemade tartare sauce, gravy and chilli jam. Topped off by being a few mins walk from the seaside so had a great spot to sit by the priory. Couldn’t fault a thing, so impressed. I’ll be taking my family here when they visit for sure.

Vorne im Take away war die Hölle los, aber hinten im Restaurant haben wir den letzten nicht reservierten Tisch bekommen. Haben klassischen Fish & Chips bestellt mit zwei Saucen. Service super nett und aufmerksam 👍 Es kamen zwei riesige Portionen die richtig lecker waren. Der Fisch mit einer knusprigen Panade überzogen und die Pommes genau auf den Punkt 👍 Flasche Wasser war kostenlos. Rundum einfach richtig gut ✅ Wenn wir mal wieder in Tynemouth sind, kehren wir bestimmt wieder ein.

Not everyone can cook fish to perfection but they certainly can here in the Fish Kitchen in Tynemouth. My wife and I had lunch there on Thursday 12th September and it was delicious.To say mine was just cod and chips doesn’t do it justice and my wife’s hake tangine was equally delicious. This accompanied with excellent customer service certainly makes it a place to visit and one we would throughly recommend.

Having been to the takeaway several times and really had beautiful fish and chips I wanted to show it off to my family. Unfortunately, the fish was very good, but the chips were awful, I couldn’t finish mine. They really seemed as if old potatoes had been used, past this their sell by date, very very disappointed. This was on 31st August.

We come here every year and are never disappointed by the quality of the food. Everything is freshly prepared and the batter is crisp as it should be. There is a restaurant but we had the takeaway and sat on the tables outside. Service is good - and worth the wait for the fresh food.

Absolutely stunning. Great food, great service at a very good price. As there were four of us we had a selection from the menu. Worked out at under £25 per head and that included drinks and a tip. The sweet and sour prawns and rice, the tempura broccoli - all amazing as was the curry sauce. Would highly recommend.

It was the first time I’d been here, but had seen it on many occasions. It was a great experience from start to finish. Points to note - The menu variety, friendly efficient staff, excellent quality and variety of food, nice atmosphere, food packaging of high quality, food temperature, were all above expectations.

A very competent and capable fish and chips restaurant. Friendly staff and good food, although butter would have been appreciated on the stotties instead of margarine.

The haddock and chips were perfectly cooked and the mushy peas were yummy. Friendly staff too. Lots of fish dishes on the menu but we stuck with the tried and tested.

What a great find! Service was friendly and swift, with a smile. Grilled haddock was delicious and so tasty, complemented with chips and mushy peas. Delightful! Very highly recommended. Didn't have any room left for a pudding!

A 2 night break in Tynemouth was made even better with a visit to Longsands Fish Kitchen. A fantastic fish and chips for each of us with what my brother described as the best mushy peas he’s ever had also . The food service and restaurant was excellent. Could not recommend enough 😊😋

Fabulous food & service ! We hadn’t booked but that wasn’t a problem we were welcomed by two lovely members of staff & seated by the window. The food was really good & plenty of choice, the risotto was the best I’ve ever had.

Great place for fish and chips it is quality food and with good proper quality food comes long queues we often walk past and see it’s either busy inside or it’s little trickles of families in the street!

Managed to get organised and book Good Friday in the small restaurant (around 30 covers?) attached to the relentless take away. Our table was not quite ready on arrival. Service beyond that was good and the menu offered a few surprises compared to the take away menu, including GFs cod and king prawn curry as she started the 1st leg of her planned hatrick of curries. The dish was excellent with the largest prawns we’d ever eaten. The rest of us kept it traditional and a little less expensive with good old fashioned fish and chips. Licensed with a small drinks menu. It’s an outstanding fish and chip restaurant and take away.

We had a really nice dinner here. The fish tacos were amazing!! Staff friendly and there was a lovely vibe. Would recommend.

Lovely food, good sized portions, friendly staff, well done. Good gluten free range of food as well. The second place we've been to in Tynemouth that doesn't allow dogs in the restaurant, so nice not to be surrounded by dogs.

Nice atmosphere on going into restaurant, had to book.table for 1 hour . Service was quick professional friendly & very pleasant . Food was good , I had haddock & chips plus bottle of Pieroni . Liz had cod tea bread butter , all came to £40 . Considering the quality of food , service & cleanliness of restaurant we couldn't complain . Are times so hard they have to charge for tomato sauce!!! Absolutely disgraceful that after charging premium prices that they have to charge for tomato sauce.

The good reviews and award are well deserved by the staff and management at Longsands. My wife and I both ate the outstanding fresh cod and chips and agreed that it was the best lightly battered cod that we had ever tasted, also the fish was a generous size and thickness. I would recommend Longsands to anyone seeking excellent value and quality matched with service from welcoming staff.

The best fish & chips place in Newcastle area, hands down. Light and crisp batter, not at all thick or oily (the plague of many chippies). The restaurant itself is nice, elegant and relaxed. And reasonably priced! Furthermore, one of us has food allergies and the staff were very attentive and understanding. Fantastic place.

Let me be honest. We had been working all day at an exhibition and I DID NOT WANT FISH for evening meal. We walked around and I was getting serious grief for being indecisive. Frankly I was bullied to go in. However I picked roasted Hake. OMG.....It was the most delicious flavoursome fish fish I have ever eaten. My wife had the Malasian fish curry which was also excellent. What can I say....I would have travelled 4 hrs just to eat that meal. Superb.
