We were greeted immediately by friendly waiting staff who asked if we need a high chair or help with the buggy. They showed us to a table and were really helpful and patient. The sandwiches, scones and coffees we ordered were all delicious and well-priced. The manager even came over came to check that my husband didn’t want his sandwich toasted! Such a beautiful cafe with wonderful food and staff.

We decided to have a family 90th birthday celebration at these lovely tearooms. We were all warmly greeted by owner Stephen and his team. The tearooms were beautifully decorated for my mums 90th birthday. The food was delicious and there was a generous amount of sandwiches, scones and cakes. Quality of food second to none and excellent value for money. First class service and beautiful surroundings. Thank you Stephen and Neil for making my mums special day and extra special one.

We visited Tynemouth on the metro from Newcastle last weekend. Our party were all family and had travelled from London, Wales and Lincolnshire. After a very cold and blustry visit to the sea front we were all badly in need of a warm drink. We came across this tea room by accident and were very pleasantly surprised. It was both warm and welcoming, and beautifully decorated. Three of us had coffee and cake, and the other opted for the homemade soup. It all definitely hit the spot. Will certainly make a point of visiting again next time we are in Tynemouth.

4 of us stayed here overnight prior to a family funeral. The owner was very welcoming and the rooms were very clean and spacious with en suites, the beds were very comfortable and the obligatory coffee/tea making facilities were well stocked. Although on the main street, it was very quiet (we stayed mid week). Breakfast had a great choice and was well cooked. Staff were very attentive. Highly recommended.

Myself and partner have stayed before but this was the first time with our four year old, we stayed in Byron which is right at the top of the house and it was fantastic, plenty of room and a great view. Stephen gives a great overview, so much so that our four year old was disappointed he wasn't staying IN the room with us 😂. Everything you need is in the room including an iron and even a cafetiere and proper coffee, which is a nice touch. I'm very fussy about beds and these are perfect. Good quality mattresses and bedding and really nice pillows, so comfy. Shower room really clean and plenty of shampoo and shower gel available. The breakfast is lovely, quality ingredients and the coffee is very good. Service spot on, staff are lovely and our four year old loved it. Excellent value for money and perfect for a small family like us, we wouldn't stay anywhere else but book early as it is usually full! Tynemouth is gorgeous, we recommend Longsands Fish and Chips, Riley's Fish Shack, Lola Jeans, The Priory and The Surf Cafe. Plenty of great walks, we did 25k+ steps each day and our four year old did not complain at all!

First the accomadation ; excellent , very clean, terrific staff and breakfast was superb. Secondly the town : the parking was right outside the accomadation, and there no need to move the vehicle untill we left. The town was delightful with numerous places to eat and drink and good seafront / clifftop walks. Our main reason for comming was to visit Rileys Fish Shack on the beach front. We visited the shack but unfortunatley decided not to wait to be served. The shack is so popular that when we arrived there was a big que and upon asking someone who was just leaving our minds were made up. The couple leaving told us that '' the food was excellent and fresh, be we qued for above an hour to get in''. We watched for a while and saw couples on seats with a prime view out to sea having finished eating just taking in the view....lord knows how long before those places became available. It does though look a fantastic place to eat, just wished I was blessed patience. We ate out at a place called The Resolution, lovely food, clean light and airey and popular.I can recommend the accomadation and would stay here again

I've never left a comment on trip advisor, but feel so insesenced by my experience I've had to leave a comment. After a lovely day on the beach, me and my 3 year old thought we would have a nice cup of tea. Having originally planned to go to the vintage cafe in the land of green ginger, (as we've been before and the service was second to non), we thought we would give this place a go as we had never been before and my daughter loves having tea from a tea pot with cups and saucers, I thought this would be a proper tea room experience for her and it had a garden area were we could sit. After entering the garden we sat down and waited for service. A young girl walked passed us looked over saying nothing and took some dishes from some other customers that later left, thinking she was coming back we waited, and waited and waited. In the end we left as it was taking far too long, ( I wouldn't mind if it was packed, we were the only customers there) as I left I said to my daughter we were leaving as the people there were very rude. This was loud enough for the staff to hear me, no one apologised they just let us walk out. I don't know if they think the establishment should only be for adults or if they are actually that rude!! Either way they won't get my business and I'm will be sure to tell everyone about the experience and lack of customer service. Truly terrible.

I'm a fan of traditional tea rooms so called in here one Sunday afternoon. Sat in the quaint walled garden and ordered two teas. Teapot arrived with tea cosy and two cups one of which was cracked, and saucers. Tea tasted very weak so checked teapot and only one teabag contained within pot for two. Finished the tea and I approached the proprietor(?) (middle aged lady with dark hair) with payment and mentioned the weak tea and one teabag (instead of two for two people). Indignant, she announced "that was a mistake!", "I'll charge you for one". No apology was offered and irritation at the complaint, clear by facial expression and attitude. One essential customer service rule; if a concern is raised and justified, it should be accepted graciously and apology offered. Such rudeness in a tearoom, usually a place of civility, is most unattractive. Tynemouth is full of places to eat and drink. I recommend taking your business elsewhere.

There were 3 of us in Tynemouth for breakfast and I recalled this eatery from a previously pleasant visit around 2 years ago. I understand that this establishment is primarily a B&B who open the dining room to non guests for food. 3 full English breakfasts and 3 coffees were ordered. I noticed that there was only 1 member of staff in attendance who waited as well as cooked the food. Coffees arrived quickly (a cafetiere for 1 and 2 Americanos) and were warmly received. The waitress/cook also handed us a couple of papers to read. This was maybe prophetic as we waited a full 20 mins for our hot breakfast to arrive. We were in no rush at all but we did remark to each other about the wait so it was clearly a bit too long. The breakfast was very good. Quality sausage, one slice of bacon, tinned toms, a beautifully cooked slice of black pud and a wonderfully presented fried egg. You also get a slice of toast. The price is £6. The breakfast is supposed to come with mushrooms too (I was not aware of that until one of the group mentioned it later on after we'd eaten). The waitress offered no mitigation for the AWOL fungi which was possibly an oversight, although she did give us an extra coffee each which never featured on our bill so we were not at all upset and speculated that maybe she had run out, forgot or was a bit busy as she was on her own. The breakfast was actually very good. Good produce cooked well. I personally would have preferred an extra bacon and slice of toast in the package but that's me. I wasn't left hungry but felt the breakfast would be much improved by this relatively cheap but significant change. I was impressed by the food, the decor and the waitress/Cook was very polite and accommodating but she would have benefitted by an extra pair of hands. The three of us enjoyed our food and coffee and all agreed we would return which says it all really.

Visited in the autumn. Nice warming home made soup. The problem was with the service, they had tea room customers in the guest house lounge too and the staff were stretched thin. A request for more coffee was ignored, and no one could be attracted to take a dessert order, so we had desserts elsewhere. What we did have was nice though, and we have been before. Will be nice if you can catch it at a quieter time.

Have some very happy memories as a child with mother and grandmother visiting here for morning coffee or afternoon tea.Not as chintzy/cottagey as I remembered, which was rather disappointing, but friendly/nice service, limited but adequate menu for a coffee, light snack or afternoon tea - the cakes looked yummy!!!

We held an after funeral reception at No61. For a small funeral this was a perfect venue with excellent service and top notch catering for a most reasonable price. They even provided super gluten free food for my daughter. Barbara couldn't have been more helpful from beginning to end and it was a stressless, relaxing climax to a difficult day. Would thoroughly recommend.

Every time I visit this old fashioned tea room I come away well satisfied. It has a cosy atmosphere, with friendly efficient staff. The outdoor seating is especially attractive when the weather permits. The hand knitted tea cosies are sold for charity.No.61 also does Bed & Breakfast, but I've never had occasion to stay there.

Having visited the market at the station we had a stroll down to the front, and decided to pop in here for a drink. A very pleasant waitress took our order, just coffee/tea, scones and tea cake. All were excellent, and I think the scones were home made. Other tables were having sandwiches, which looked very nice - made me wish I'd had one.Definitely a place for a quick bite if you're in Tynemouth.

Lovely tea room with a real fire and a garden for the summer. Amazing that they cater for gluten free in their brekfasts and their gluten free scones were very nice!

Came with quite a large party of women. The sandwiches and homemade cakes were lovely but very poor portions. The staff were friendly but and left us to fend for ourselves, but we left feeling hungry, as on previous occaisions at other tea rooms we could not eat all that was on offered.

I have visited Darcies a number of times now with my Nanna who might I add swears by this place. They always treat her and her friend like royalty and always go the extra mile to make sure they are both happy! All of the food there is home cooked to perfection and tastes amazing. I’ve had the Yorkshire pudding wrap multiple times and it never disappoints potions are huge and good value for money. Lisa and the rest of the staff are lovely! There’s no doubt that she knows exactly what she is doing. I will happily be returning to Darcies and can’t wait to try the chicken nuggets my nanna raves about!

We asked for our fish to be well cooked as if it’s not we have found the batter near the fish to be uncooked, once again the batter was uncooked ( soggy) The chips were lukewarm not a great experience
