I went to watch the Liverpool vs. Southampton match. The place wasn’t too crowded; there were still seats available, and I arrived on time. The people there created a great atmosphere. I liked that it was pet-friendly, as the presence of pets added a nice vibe to the place. It was cozy, with good pints, and the staff had a very friendly and helpful attitude. It was a very pleasant experience.

We returned to The Grand last night after an extended lockdown for us, and from the minute we entered the lounge it was sheer bliss. The calm, sumptuous seating, overlooking the sea is just so wonderful for the soul. Fab service. Drank our aperitifs and just relaxed. We then decided to have a meal in the restaurant, again a beautiful room, a warm welcome from the staff, and another beautiful sea view. Food was delicious, every morsel, scallops beautifully cooked. Portion size perfect. Wine list very well chosen and the red we had was excellent. Such a blissful night.

Staying nearby stopped off for a swift drink, good service & clearly popular as quite busy, loved the bare stone walls, the flowery paper looked liked something from the 60’s lol

We took shelter from a storm in here & enjoyed visiting. They were short staffed so there was no table service at the time. We ordered & paid for our food at the counter & had to collect it from there when it'd been cooked. We had chip stotties, battered king prawns & a battered sausage. All were freshly cooked to order & tasty. The floors were very slippery due to the wet so take care. They have a great selection of fish on offer, including seasonal catches.

Have reviewed 29 bar and Kitchen before and was not impressed then, We decided to give them a 2nd chance after a walk in Tyne mouth, On Tuesday afternoon. That really was a bad idea, there was no one in, that should of been a warning sigh, but the biggest problem and complaint I had was the bar man standing on the bar walking along it with shoes on and no covering on the bar, cleaning the brass glass rake with the glasses still in the rake, This should NEVER be done when the bar is open, if it needs cleaned then do it out of opening hours it is not a important part of the cleaning, ( I just hope they wash all these Glasses before they use them ), There was people coming in and walking back out and to be honest I don’t blame them, I wish we had. I also suspect the other reason that it is empty is because most people only come in the watch the sport on tv as the tv are permanently on sports channels, there is no atmosphere the staff are unfriendly, if fact it seems like an effort for them to serve you, this does not make an inviting and pleasant place to spend your money and time, I am sorry to say as all places need our support, But we will not be give them a third chance. Come on bar and Kitchen wake up you have the potential for a cosy enjoyable pub you just don’t seem to care, or is it the chain pub that owns this bar don’t care, and the staff have lost all intressed
