First time in tynemouth highly recommend

Food was good but very little choice music loud but I am 73 price reasonable

Went back to this place as visited two years ago as they say never go back as this was not as good as it used to be food okay but very run down inside and toilet disgusting thankfully we had eaten before going to it

Hard to tell really, no kids permitted after 7pm.

£7.50 for a pint. Seems a bit steep if you ask me

The venue could do with an update, but the staff were friendly.

Went there for the medical,but left the singer and us waiting for football to finish. Hundreds of places had football on, we came as music was advertised!

Good selection of ales and lagers, friendly barman, nice seat by the front window. Not too noisy or busy early evening. We enjoyed it for a quick drink but wouldn't spend a whole evening there, we'd go next door to Barca.

Popped in for a beer while down Tynemouth They had a singer on Sunday evening, he was devent, beer reasonably priced. Cosy settings It wasnt busy at all when we were there.

Great bar in a fantastic location. Friendly bar staff every time we visit. Cracking Saturday night watching Newcastle match then live DJ. We danced all night and drank some great beer.

Stood for literally 10 minutes waiting to be served while the man behind the bar served everyone else - people who had just arrived. Ended up walking out, it was infuriating just waiting without any acknowledgement and him seeing me just stood there waiting. No friendliness from the staff behind the bar, more life at a morgue

Great pub, good beers, and recommend Head of Steam own lager! I love taking my little boy there, too, as it has a few board games to use and keep the little one occupied. Why my wife and I have a cheeky pint (or two, shhhh).

The atmosphere is always good. The beer selection is great. Sadly service was really slow, two girls were running around doing their best and were non stop, but the guy was just aimlessly wandering around. But that aside, it's a great place for a good beer.

Should get a team of specialist cleaners. My feet were sticking to the wooden floor just walking towards the bar. Even worse was the staircase carpet. The whole place needs refurbishing.

Head of Steam, like every other one you get what you pay for £6:25 for a pint...

Dog friendly, the staff are lovely, made a fuss over my pooch which he loved, always have nice beers on tap too

Loved it, came here last year whilst on holiday, and will be back before we go home at the end of the week. Top marks all round.

Drinks were fine but the music was far FAR too loud it just became distorted through the speakers and bad quality. When I told the DJ he just looked at me with a turned up face.

No atmosphere poor service and music played to suit staff taste would defo not be visiting again customer service was very poor

Its says they sell pie in the window, but there was no pie.

Nice enough place, as with all Head of Steams there is a wide range of beers available. The place just lacks a little bit of love, you can see in places where this is missing. They have live music and DJs on at the weekends.

Amusing place, it's like a 'Tik Tok reel once the DJ starts.

My mam said there were so many cubicles in the ladies, it was very accommodating at busier times!

Been drinking on nights out for 20 years. Doorman who ive never seen before decided he didn't want to let us in because “the manager said they have stopped selling drink at 10:30”. It was 9:50. Absolutely shocking ego trip. Awful. People wonder why doorman get such bad rep.

Great bar, plenty of good drinks. Pretty quiet when we turned up around 2pm on a Saturday.

Not like the old chain head of steam.....where it had live bands, good beer and good crack. It was like a rave when I went in! No organisation at the bar your severed if they just see you! Will give it another try but maybe not the same night I visited on this occasion.

Had a great time at the Quiz night on Thursday. John set a great variety of questions to suit all age groups - general knowledge, picture round and film anagrams. Can't wait for next week.

Clean, good atmosphere quite a selection of beers and cocktails right on the front street and the steak and ale 🥧 mash, gravy and peas are absolutely delicious, this is well worth a visit.

We walked in on a very quiet Thursday night (27/10/22) and had to wait for the bar staff to acknowledge us - not a good start. Once staff noticed we were there, I asked if food was still being served please? 'No.' Not a 'Sorry, food has stopped', or a 'you've just missed it, sorry about that' - just an outright 'No'. Right... So we bought two halves, necked them and left. Awful service and lovely beer 🤷🏻‍♀️

A Saturday evening and pub was not very busy. Soon found out why - just short of £19 for 3 pints! Won't be going back as can't get a mortgage for another round.

UPDATE; I responded to you by emailing asking what further info you needed and you never bothered emailing back. Just re-e forces what I was saying about poor manegment. I visited here again 5th September. Bar staff on their phone, dirty tables can’t be bothered attitude. Bar staff spend more time sat on customer side of the bar playing in their phone than they do behind the bar. If you have time to lean you have time to clean and believe me behind your bar you have ALOT that needs cleaned. Staff need to learn to speak to customers and say please and thank you. They are rude and miserable. I think they need to visit the head of steam in leeds and learn how it’s done. Toilets are filthy the tiles on the walls havnt been washed in ages and why bother having poster frames that are all empty. Advertising food, milkshakes and snacks but half of what’s advertised isn’t available. Place needs deep cleaned and a new staffing team and a new inspirational enthusiastic manager to push this place forward.

Arrived on Friday evening @ 11.15 and refused entry by bouncer as it was closed, even though staff were still serving and intenet says it closes at midnight! I'm sobber and wanted a quick pint! No wonder it only had a few customers!

My partner and I visited for afternoon drinks. Pleasant bar with great window seats. Bar staff very attentive and friendly. Service is good. Pieminster is now the menu there. Absolute glorious pastry, meat or vegetarian options. Glorious mash. Thank you for taking this menu on.

Visited on a very quiet Monday afternoon. Friendly female bartender served us two halves of the ales on cask. Blonde Star lightly cloudy as barrel just about to go but still fine to drink. Would expect to have a better atmosphere when busier.

Well let's start positive. The place is nicely done out. Staff are friendly. However the ones in Newcastle have a great range of beer. This one doesn't for some reason. I was very disappointed.

First venue on our night out, offering a good array of beers & ciders with the draught Rekorderlig being a favourite of mine. Due to the proximity to the front street, all seats at the front are normally taken early which was the case during our visit so we secured the booth right at the rear, unfortunately the cleaning regime was lacking a little as the table was sticky & grimey! When another in the middle became available we moved. A group of males arrived & took our booth & approached the bar for cleaning products, proceeding to clean the table themselves, staff need to up their game a little, mind you they did come over & wipe our table down whilst we were seated, maybe that was missed as it’s not in sight if the bar!

Probably my favourite bar in Tynemouth, normally call in on a weekday afternoon. Get a drink and a seat by the window and watch the world go by. Lots of room inside as it goes way back and if it's your first visit lots of memorabilia on the walls.

I thought the head of steam was delightful, the staff were friendly and efficient, and so attentive, 6 star's if there was a setting, definitely be back with friends

They sell Timmermans on tap so I can't complain.

Some good world beers not found in other pubs. Staff not very knowledgable about what they are selling though. But nice place and some metal wall signs of the beers as in other branches.

Had to wait a little while to be served but the beer was good, I got the 11.3% beer in a bottle and my wife got a raspberry martini. The beer was great but the martini don't taste very alcoholic at all. Very well ran and clean aswell with plenty of space.

Favourite pub in Tynemouth. Great beers to try, not too loud or noisy.

Left a review on here about shocking treatment in Head of Steam. Head Office replied asking me to contact them. I contacted them and there was one back and forth email between us before they just stopped and never replied. Very poor customer service all round really.

Comfortable enough, but facing the accessible toilet door is not the best.
