Nice atmosphere. Soft drinks aren't ice loaded. Location bit out of way but handy if driving. Didn't stay overnight.

Fab place great staff. My new stop off point after work on a friday with the lads.

Stay away. Fined £60 as a customer for using the car park. Spoke with the pub and they said they would cancel it, only for them to cease communication and let the fine go up again to £100. Avoid avoid avoid.

We called in for a drink on our way home on a Saturday afternoon but were extremely disappointed, it’s very run down and generally uncared for. Car park is full of rubbish and broken glass, we took our dog but weren’t offered water or treats for him. There was a tiny paper sign stuck to the wall which wasn’t very welcoming for dog owners. Dark and miserable inside, broken light fittings and ripped seats. Nobody else in the place despite the beautiful weather, also outside space needs some TLC. This used to be a lovely little place such a shame it’s been left to rot. Won’t be going back.

Frozen food was mediocre at best.

Stayed at the pub over the weekend. Had a great time, good company in the pub, good food and also reasonable proced drinks. Stayed in the rooms above. Comfortable beds and good nights sleep. Would highly reccomend staying here.

Came for a quick drink after work with a friend not expecting to make the pub aware I was parking in their car park.. move house to find two years later I have a CCJ And £301 fine catch up with me! Absolutely disgusting robbing paying customers blind then when challenge it to get fobbed off for two weeks waiting for calls back. Stay well clear!

No fresh orange or pineapple juice so no cocktails of which I came here for zombies were out ! No chilli 🌶️ If it was my establishment I’d be off to the shop for stock . Place was empty! I no why

Parked in the customer car park, went inside the venue hoping to have a meal and was turned away due to being at full capacity. I then re entered my car and searched for another place to eat as I’m not from the area, 20 minutes after getting signal and eventually finding somewhere I left. 2 weeks later I received a fine of £60+ due to not registering my car. How on earth could I have registered my car if I was turned away at the door for being at full capacity? Honestly you guys hope you enjoy your £60 :) p.s. if you’re looking for somewhere to eat and not have to pay an extra £60 if the place is full, AVOID this place at all costs! Or if you have read this make sure you register your car whilst you look for another bite to eat otherwise you’ll be in for an expensive nothing :)

Food portion was massive . I got the proper catch and needed another plate to eat it all! I 100% recommend. Also shout out to the 2 staff who swerved us!

Stopped in on a Saturday in time for the Newcastle game. Food was excellent and value for money, and the staff were really polite and helpful even while it was busy with the game being on. Definitely will come back again

Room was really nice and Andrew was working on the bar and is the friendliest person you could ever wish to meet. If I paid 3 times what the room cost me I would not have been disappointed. Fantastic place great staff. Thank you will defiantly be back. 5 Star.....

I was staying in the Premier Inn across the way for work and I'm glad I came over to this little gem. For the same price I'd pay for a bland burger I got some really nice meatballs for starters and a creamy carbonara with some tasty garlic bread. Definitely coming back again.

I booked my Christmas dinner on the 23 December 2023 at 21.00 and I was told to come in 20.30 and the son of the owner booked it for the 21 December 2023, so at the end I got nothing. To started my Christmas did not go down well. I got dressed up for my eat my Christmas dinner and at the end walk out upset so I did not get my Christmas dinner at Holystone pub.

Went for a Christmas lunch. Enormous prawn cocktail to start. An equally large plate of turkey, Yorkie Pudding and vegetables. The impression is that this pub is really trying hard. Friendly staff and sensible prices. Seems like they run quiz nights, poker nights and bingo too. I wish them well as they don’t have a big catchment area.

Place was spot on for a few drinks. Lovely workers and friendly service all around. Will be more than happy going back.

We were met with a warm welcome and showed to our rooms. Rooms were much larger than expected, comfortable with en-suite, smart TV and tea & coffee making facilities. Good value for money food in the pub. Great breakfasts! Nice & handy for the metro and a Parkrun within easy walking distance (for all you runners out there). We look forward to returning for the next Great North Run event. Thank you Holystone!

Arrived Bank Holiday Sunday after a 10 hour drive to a very hectic atmosphere that was being delightfully handled by a very friendly staff all working towards one common goal to satis fy their customers and so they did. They were a sight to behold and as an old man who had not returned to my roots for 50 years they made me very proud to have been born and bred a Geordie. I shall return and my way back to Selsey from my other home in the Outer Hebrides. A big thankyou for the English Poet "Joey Jo Mcguire"

The food is very basic with no frills. A poached egg is like a golf ball, a piece of toast is like a piece of hot cardboard and a burger patty could be used as a hockey puck!

It all started with 1 ply napkin, Ordered chicken and steak baguettes. The chicken looked microwaved out of a Bernard Mathews packet. No seasoning. No Mayo. Tiny bit of lettuce. Really cheap produce. Everything seemed cheap from the 1 ply napkin to the asda everyday essential coleslaw. We did find a hair on the steak baguette. No staff did a check back. So we felt uncomfortable finding someone to complain to, as the one member of staff at the bar.. was making a phone call, however was on hold, on loud speaker for us all to hear.

So these guys have got a very close eye on you. They have arranged a company to manage their car park. Security camara's abd everything. For years and years i have used that pub. Fairly local to the area. For one day i had to use a space so someone could meet me to drop off a phone that I left in my office and some medication. I used 1 space in an empty car park for less than 5mins and about a week later i received a £60 fine. Threats to come to my door if i didn't pay. So good of the business to try and rinse the local community of cash during these tough times. I hope you are very proud of yourself. Advice for everyone. Clearly there isn't a care in the world. Dont bother going to this pub. If they place this money scam in their car park they clearly dont give a dame about anyone in the local community. And to even thing about 5-6 years ago when they took over the business and a struggling one at that. They asked the local community to help and bring it back which everyone supported. Funny how they have forgotten how they got where they are now. Avoid this s*it hole.

Old fashioned friendly customer service. Dropped buy for a light snack 6 fish finger in a sandwich with chips very good value just over £5 . Drinks brought to the table very chatty young girl and her chef dad, both maid us feel welcome, grand children popped in for ice cream nothing was a bother, we will be back fab value for money

Fell in love with the place after the first night the live music was amazing and the people all so friendly I do hope I can get back there soon. I did have an issue with my luggage but one of the staff kindly helped me carry my stuff up the stairs.

All was well, checked in for quickly changed off out. Looked a little dated and the corridor leading to rooms needs some work, but I thought for £55 for 1 night fair enough. However when I came back late at night to go to bed the cleanliness became a real issue. In the bedroom itself the bins have no bags so were not clean, inside draws are screws, dust and dirt, you couldn’t put your clothes in, net curtains falling to pieces, bedding with stains. Then the bathroom…. the walls are marked badly from condensation running down, also causing paint to bubble in many places, the areas around the base of toilet and sink unit were damp peeling and yellow, the shower cubicle had not been cleaned, glass door marked with water splatter and soap products, the plastic splash back looked like it had snots smeared that were green and crusty, I did not have a shower. Other issues in room were the bedside lamp does not work, no remote for tv, bedroom bin broken. The other issue here is the banging of doors, they are very heavy and loud, till very late at night. I understand it’s a budget rooms but cleanliness is a must, especially in the world we live in now. I did address the cleanliness issue the next day and the lady was apologetic and advised they were having issues with the cleaner.

We looked for a hotel in Newcastle as we were visiting for an occasion, however with it being the holidays we found it very difficult to find one at Reasonable price until we came across the Holystone pub, the rooms were a little dated and could do with some tlc but other than that it wasa nice stay very family oriented and nothing was too much trouble for the staff they were very friendly and went out of their way make our stay comfortable from start to finish I would definitely recommend this place if you are on a budget and would say its suitable for families.

My husband and I went for our tea I had chicken tikka masala which wasn’t nice at all ( the naan tasted as though it had been deep fried and the chicken in the curry was chewy Hubby had piri chicken which he said it was ok but below average We couldn’t fault the service though I was offered a refund for the meal I had

Since we live in Holystone it is great to have several pubs within walking distance but we are always disappointed by the food at the Holystone Pub…cold, rubbery, bland, overcooked. Staff is definitely not rude but they are not especially friendly. It’s a nice place to pop in for a drink though because if the location. However, the advertisements out front have become a blight on our village. My neighbours and I have been talking about how ridiculous it is that they feel the need to have so many signs out front…including photos of their exotic meats! Hopefully they will edit some of the signs soon. We put up with it durning lockdown because pubs were struggling but it might be time to contact the council if they don’t take some down soon.

Yo y 2 niños de 11 años fuimos a tomar el té. Los muchachos tenían pescado y patatas fritas (porción enorme) y pizza que se veía preciosa. Tuve el bistec de canguro con ensalada. La carne estaba cocida a la perfección y definitivamente la volvería a comer. Los platos principales se completaron con 2 postres para niños (con crema batida extra para un pícaro descarado) y una deliciosa tarta de queso con limón. El personal fue muy amable y, a pesar de estar ocupado, el servicio fue excelente. Encantadora comida casera fresca. Muy limpio y consciente de la normativa Covid vigente.¡Las mejores notas para este lugar! !

Mi pareja y yo viajamos desde Edimburgo después de un vuelo. Se retrasa todo el camino. Llegó a Tyne y usé. Hambriento y cansado. Se habían reservado otros 2 establecimientos, por lo que no había almuerzo del domingo. Este lugar estaba de camino a casa, llamamos por casualidad. Sophie nuestra camarera era encantadora. Muy atentos. La comida estuvo estupenda. Hambrientos y sedientos nuestras necesidades fueron satisfechas. Cena de sopa y cordero. Fantástico.

pedir champiñones de ajo en ciabatta cuando venga estaba flotando en la leche un poquito de ciabatta de 3 pulgadas de largo sin sabor a ajo escuché al propietario decir que se han quedado sin ciabatta ten en cuenta que fuimos los primeros en el pub. mi pareja pide mariscada viene 2 langostinos rebozados 2 pedacitos de pescado de 1 pulgada cuadrada rebozados 2 aros de calamar un cuenco de arroz que se coloca en el centro del plato y la ensalada. Parece que un niño pequeño acaba de ponerlo en el plato de arroz. Parece que se ha cocinado entre 3 y 4 días antes y se ha calentado en el microondas. Pido pollo con salsa de camarones y papas fritas caseras cuando llegó, se ve como una porción para niños 1 trozo pequeño de pollo en el medio del plato con salsa de camarones en la parte superior Aproximadamente 8 papas fritas se ven como el día anterior no están crujientes ni frescas. el menú era viejo y parece que había estado allí durante años, las esquinas acurrucadas no se veían muy limpias después de que ordenamos, el menú se volvió a colocar sin limpiarlo, tenga en cuenta el coronavirus. He estado en este pub 3 veces antes y la comida estaba bien. pero me temo que esta vez me decepcionaron y no volveré. si un pub o restaurante no puede mantener los estándares. No me quejaré, solo caminaré y no volveré

Moved in to the area 6 months ago so my partner and i went for a few drinks in The Holystone and thank god we did. After seeing food being served from the kitchen we couldn’t resist ordering and we were not disappointed. We only popped in for one or two drinks but we were made to feel so welcome by staff, who when finding out we were new to the area, introduced us to different groups of people who regularly go to the pub and we were made to feel like this had been our watering hole for years! The bar girl and management let us both know what bands/singers were due to perform, when quiz night was, they even have a jazz afternoon what more can a local pub do. If you haven’t visted the pub would highly recommend

Well today me and my girlfriend went for a meal at the holystone bar and I must say very disappointed with the whole experience not just the food on entering the bar very warm nice place done out nice while wating for my girlfriend I was looking at the menu at what was available when my girlfriend arrived we ordered our food I asked for the ultimate burger NO BACON she ordered the scampi and a chicken masala to share and extra fries And some potato skins with cheese and salsa. The member is staff come back and gave me 3.49 and said the scampi that was delivered was only very small so that was a good start. Well 39 mins later the food come I was thinking the had been to India for the curry. But when the food arrived the but to my disappointment the burgers had bacon on it and no salsa on the skins. I twice i went to find a member of staff nowhere to be seen the atmosphere in the pub was just disgusting racist talk and swearing management not saying anything at all and to be honest it's not the kind of atmosphere where you would want to bring your kids unless your members of the edl then all is good but it was my first and last time I will be coming to the holustone and my girlfriend just thought what mistake I had made bringing her to the bar and being mixed race myself the continued use of the work p%#is along with other words loudly in front of the staff and management just shows what sort of environment the holystone is accommodating so I will be avoiding this place like the clap.

One of the best experiences of my life it’s shocking the way people view this pub as it isn’t racist or derogatory at all I felt welcome and fulfilled at my entire time although, whole heartedly enjoyed my experience at the pub

Well in all honesty I thought this would of been a good meal but it wasnt on the whole.The facilities are warm and the staff very courtesious the food however was poor,both myself and my girlfreind thought it was overpriced as were the drinks.I do not consider heated to death food good.The presesentation was not bad by the way but generally its not worth the high price being paid in fact its a total and utter rip off,I have frequented other resraunts for less cost and obtained a better value meal.The drinks costs were steep as well on the whole my experience was not a good one to be frank or my girfreinds.I dont mind paying a reasonable price for good food but come on this is takeing the mick.I wont be returning the place was like this when it first opened and I avoided it until it improved, as being a local as well its handy but I wont return now until signficant improvements are made and the prices drop.I wont be recommending it to my freinds or family or visiting trade company's/workers as I have done previously by the way.

We visited the restaurant for a family meal .Excellent service Excellent food .Will definitely be visiting again .All the staff were very helpful and friendly .

I visit this establishment regularly and have always had a warm welcome and nice food with a variety of well stocked drinks.In a small reply to the comment below I was also here for Xmas dinner and was on crutches at the time and found the disabled access fine as the surrounding roads are not the responsibility of the public an but the local authority, and for me the food was delicious and priced the same as other bars in the area, once the price is known I find it irrelevant to complain afterwards but that’s just me.

One of the best local pubs around with great service and friendly staff would definitely recommend to anyone thinking of having a venture into this establishment

I stayed here before going on a cruise, firstly the staff are amazing. The food is soooo good!! The hotel perfect for my stay clean and comfy! Highly recommend

I stayed here overnight at the start of August whilst visiting Newcastle. The room was nice and tidy and had all the main features we would expect.

Llegamos al Holystone Bar and Restaurant para una estadía de una noche, antes de ir a un crucero. Recibimos una muy cálida bienvenida. Tuvimos una buena cena con unas pintas en un ambiente agradable. A la mañana siguiente, David, el dueño del bar, amablemente nos llevó a los 4 en el puerto de cruceros en su 4 x 4, que fue fantástico. Recomiendo encarecidamente alojarse en el pub de David, fue perfecto para nosotros.

Somos clientes habituales de The Holystone para comidas con la familia o para eventos. Nunca he tenido una mala comida o una mala experiencia aquí. Kelly y su personal son encantadores, cálidos y acogedores, y nada es una molestia si la comida necesita ajustes. Todo tiene un buen precio, buenas ofertas disponibles durante toda la semana. Las porciones son muy generosas por el precio pagado.

Mi compañero y yo llamamos a Holystone en nuestro camino a casa desde el trabajo un lunes por la tarde alrededor de las 5 pm. Este bar y restaurante se ha convertido en un habitual mío con amigos y familiares. La comida es excelente especialmente las pizzas caseras y hamburguesas. En cuanto al domingo el almuerzo no puede fallar. Carnes frescas, verduras y pudines de gran yorkshire. Lo recomendaría altamente. El personal es muy amable también. Sigue con el buen trabajo?

Can honestly say hand on heart, worst meal I have ever had. I ordered the beef burger and my friend ordered the beef in a black bean sauce. Both were sent out freezing cold. My burger was serverly over cooked and the black bean meal stone cold. Fair enough, they rectified this for us which was much appreciated. We opted to go for the two chicken burgers, one with peri peri sauce. Well, the food they sent out this time was worse than the first!!! It was just two chicken breast fillets in a big standard burger bun you would get in a burger van on the motor way. My bun was covered and dripping in grease. I took one bite and could not eat anymore. My friends burger had her bun sodden through with the peri peri sauce it broke when she lifted it to eat. We complained again and just got a simple ‘the manager will be over’ 20 minutes later still no-one. So I went to the bar and asked for my money back. The girl behind the bar said just have a seat and we’ll be over. 10 minutes later she comes over and says my meal can’t be refunded. I can’t understand why because I didn’t eat it. I would understand if I had eaten the full thing but this was inedible. I pointed out that I could see the manager behind the bar and it almost looked as though she was avoiding speaking to her very unhappy customer. Well about 10 minutes later she comes storming over with a right attitude and made me feel in the wrong. Safe to say I will never be back and I will never recommend this to anyone. It was a Thursday evening and although I saw peope drinking, I never saw anyone eat. I wish I never ate there. Avoid at all cost!!

Mi esposo y mis amigos organizaron una reunión sorpresa para mi 60 cumpleaños y fue genial. Dave y Kelly, los dueños, fueron geniales, al igual que el resto del personal. La comida era excelente excelentes pizzas y pieles! El entretenimiento era realmente bueno y en general un ambiente fantástico. Nuestros amigos se alojaron en una de las habitaciones recién equipadas y disfrutaron mucho de su estancia, recomendarían a cualquier persona especialmente para comer.

A really nice Sunday lunch! I had beef with homemade mash and Yorkshire’s. My husband had the chicken, shame he didn’t get stuffing ! Kids had childrens chicken dinner the portion was probably big enough for a adult. Good value!!

Have visited this pub on numerous occasions when we have visited family in Newcastle. They have recently started to rent rooms out to stay in l, so we decided to stay here for 5 nights over the weekend. The rooms are lovely and the staff are very nice, friendly and welcoming. If you need somewhere decent to stay... Or even just somewhere to have a nice meal and drinks, make sure to check this place out! :)

Had a very nice evening here.staff were very friendly.Nice location. But food ordered for the function was very disappointing. We ordered the most expensive option. I think it was about £9 a person. I was very surprised when we were supplied with mainly sandwiches. There was some other food - a quiche, some very small samosas and spring rolls, some pizza, and a very sloppy chicken curry. But over half the food was sandwiches. There was plenty of it, but it was poor compared to other functions I;ve organised or attended.

Having spent 4 days over Easter and dining at this establishment i woul d recognise as awesome food is delicious plenty of choice and quantity this is typical english quality pub food served with a smile excellent staff very happy n cheerful & only 5 mins walk from Holystone Premier inn

Just visited the Holystone for lunch. Had a Candy-floss prosecco it was amazing! You must come here and try one!

We visited the Holystone for a meal after a morning at the beach. Food was delicious, kids loved the pizza. Atmosphere is great and the staff are really friendly and helpful. Will definitely go back.x

We chose the Holystone as we were passing with the kids for some tea. It's a lovely bar very clean, has a vibrant atmosphere and very friendly staff. The food was amazing and very reasonably priced too the chefs were very accommodating for my 2 fussy kids which is also an added bonus. I've recommended the rest of my family to come in for food and we also will definitely be returning

Come to this pub quite often. Staff are 5 star will do anything for you. Foods top notch. There is live bands and singers on most weekends and a quiz night. Everyone is catered for. Would highly recommend:)

We enjoyed a lovely family meal at the Holystone during half term this week. It was my sons choice as he remembered from last time that the pizza was good, it was as well I sampled it! The menu has something for everyone so other kids, husband & I were all happy. My chicken skewers were delicious. The staff were lovely & the service efficient.

After a hellish week, we called in here for dinner on Friday evening. It was very quiet which was a shame (especially for a Friday) but we sat down and looked at the menu.

We went for a family meal. The menu was varied with something for everyone’s taste. From pizza, pasta to spicy . Good sized tasty meals, nicely presented. The ultimate burger was huge and fabulous! Good helpings

This bar looks great now, has a welcoming atmosphere and the bar staff were friendly.

We are always on the lookout for somewhere new to go for a meal, a friend told us to try here the other day so we dutifully went today. We went early evening the staff were very friendly .

Lovely lovely lunch. Food was good quality, tasty and service was fab. Great banter with the staff which we loved. Vicki and Anna were just Gee whizz fantastic! and thanks to Eddie in the kitchen. Lovely and we will be back soon. X

We decided to give the holystone a try but were very disappointed.

We thought we would give this restaurant a try as we were in the area. First impression is good from the outside. We looked at the menu and desided on the home made burger and fries. Food arrived within minutes of placing the the order which we thought strange for homemade burger. The burgers were more like meat balls squashed together to form a lump of meat rather than a shaped burger as you would expect. The accompanying salad was ok though the homemade coleslaw had a different taste than normal. Good menu selection though the not many customers in when we arrived and no customers in when we left though it was around 5 in the afternoon. This pub and restaurant has a food hygiene rating of 1 as of the 28th April 2017.

Both myself and the kid visited here for an impromptu sunday lunch... having eaten here before (heartily recommend the fish and chips) and enjoyed it.

Heard evening news of the standards of this place ....so out dated and wrong ...I went today with family of 5 ..amazing food and service so typical of the place first class ...I go there,a lot ....go and trust me you will be amazed..after my concerns and ringing before I went there straight away put on to the manager who assured me this was not the case ....and all my family had a fantastic meal....I would go back again and again 10/10//

We both had the biggest burger on the menu. It came as a pretty standard looking meal but I can confidently say that it was one of the best burgers I have ever had. The patty was more of a giant slightly squashed meatball and had the most succulent texture. I have no idea why it was so quiet, especially considering the variety of beverages (including a couple of really good ales) and very reasonable prices. 4 pints and a giant burger with dessert came to about £30. Well worth it!

My wife and I visited whilst staying at the nearby premier inn which was having the attached harvester refurbished. We were both very pleased with the prompt and friendly service provided by the staff. The bar and restaurant were well decorated and had a cosy feel to it. The food was good with generous portions. We were annoyed that we did not find this pub on the first day of our stay and will give the harvester a miss and visit the Holystone when we next visit.
