Visit this pub frequently with family and live in forest hall. It’s a lovely pub and we always call in for a drink on a nice day when walking the dogs. They’re friendly and welcoming to all of us, and we always get what we want. It’s a pub, so you get what you bargain for - we normally get two pints of Stella, and large glass of wine and a fruity cider of some sort. We usually get like snacky food to share, nothing too high end. Anybody giving this pub a low rating, for honestly can’t understand why (unless they really dislike dogs). There isn’t a waiter, it’s all bar service, but it’s honestly lovely and always and the staff are always more than happy to help

Had my daughter's baby shower there last Saturday, paid for buffet (very disappointing) felt like they had just got frozen bags of party food!! behind the bar - the fridges were empty - no bottles of beer etc not even any J20, he kept going to Aldi down the road to buy things! don't know what the hell is going on in that pub!

Decided to give this place another go when we heard the Jam Jar owner was getting involved in the management. Big mistake!! We asked for about 6 different drinks before we found something that was available, I am not talking complex cocktails just draft premium larger, cider or a decent bottle. We had to wait in between each question whilst the barman went to the end of the bar to talk to what I can only assume were friends or regular customers. We eventually got menus and ordered food which was actually ok, but when we asked for mayonnaise we were told by the barman it would be a couple of minutes as he was too busy. He then proceeded to go back behind the bar and talk to his friends / regulars.

One of the strangest dining experiences ever , when we perused the beer pumps was informed of the beers that were available as a few of them were not on , fair enough , no craft beers or cask, but never mind it was predominantly the food we were here for.

Where do I start? Excellent bar staff let down by one terrible owner who really should sell this pub or just let it die in peace. I feel embarrassed for the poor bar staff who have to explain to customers that there is hardly anything to drink. I hope Jam Jar man comes to the rescue and starts running it on his own. What a complete and utter shambles.

Have visited this local pub several times (it's close to my home) i was very disappointed, recently taken over as an alleged Gastro pub at approximately 7pm on a Sunday evening there was no menu's available, although condiments were on table's,a male appeared from the kitchen in a dirty yellow t/shirt (apparently the chef) followed by a member of staff who although the place was quite walked past my friend and I four time's before a pleasent young man (manager) greeted us and explained the discounted drinks procedure. Female's obviously under the influence and in charge of young children who were running riot, drunk female sitting at the bar puffing on E cigarette. It's a shame that this local pub has deteriated so much my only hope is the new manager gets a grip and fast.

I went here to have a late birthday celebration with family. The service was probably the slowest we have ever experienced and when the food did arrive 3 out of 5 meals were cold. They had probably been sitting around the kitchen waiting for someone to serve them. The BBQ sauce on two of the Nacho meals was inedible and clashed horribly with the mayonnaise. What a complete waste of money. Probably ok for a drink if you weren't in a hurry as they have a kids play area. Goodness knows how bad it is when it is really busy.

We ordered and waited ages for our food which was cold when it eventually arrived. I think the price far outweighed the value of what was corn chips with cheese and pomegranate with bits of chicken and chorizo as small as the pieces of sweetcorn one member of staff attending so I suspect the meal had stood in the kitchen for a while. Value at £8.50? I don't think so. Told the solitary barman and after briefly arguing the meals were hot he said he would inform the chef. Never again.

Called in with my wife for lunch. It took them half an hour to take our order then another hour for food to come to the table. Food was overpriced and not at all what we expected. Paid over £20 for the experience and came out feeling like we had been mugged. The place itself was quite pleasant and the staff were friendly but they just dont seem to know how to run the place. Dont think that we will be back.

We popped in to try the tapas after hearing the pub had changed hands . Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. We ordered 5 dishes of tapas between two of us thinking that would be enough, especially as that cost £17. We had prawns, calamari, chicken wings, crab cakes and pork. There were 4 bits of each . Absolutely gorgeous, but for £17 we felt a bit ripped off and we actually came away hungry still.

The staff are clearly finding their feet. They'd ran out of chicken and gammon for Sunday lunch so we were a bit nervous. However the beef and the pork were lovely and generous portions. I had a cheese burger and although I asked for it they did put sauce and such on however the manager was more than happy to exchange this for a new one. Ice cream and deserts were lovely and great portions. Waitress was more than happy to check if I could eat it due to allergies. And the kids were very happy with their mini egg gift! Will visit again!

OLA ! Senors SenoritasHad already tried the lovely burgers , or borgas, as us geordies say! so decided with some trepidation to give the tapas a go, was a bit worried as the last time we tried tapas was in Frigialana , a lovely Spanish village in the mountains ,(not the cheviots) and a pub in forest hall, no disrespect wasn't exactly the setting to compete! so surely they would not match the Spanish, well tell you what, they are not far away, opted for the 5 tapas with 2 glasses of wine, we were not sure whether to have 5 or 7 tapas but we compromised by having the 5 and a portion of the fantastic garlic bread they do , her who must be obeyed loves the garlic and I love the chilli, how about I just tell the chef to do half an half said the girl serving us, Perfecto ! love the garlic bread as it is served in the style of a tortilla so you do not get that stodgy too much doughy thing , that sometimes spoils some garlic bread, so to the tapas, very tasty potatas brava , nice piquent sauce, meatballs in a very tomatoey (is that a word!) spicy sauce, garlic mushrooms that were cooked to perfection and still al dente, some "Spanish" rice? and some prawn and crab balls , and of course the lovely garlic bread, my only regret we could have probably managed the 7 ! and will go for this next time because there definitely will be a next time, and the beef and chorizo in red wine will be on the list, if I could suggest improvement it would be top make the crab and prawn balls a little more fishy tasting but all in all a superb meal , served with a very cheeky red wine , one has always felt the merlot grape has a softness to it(awnlee kidding but sounds like ah kna worra terking aboot) now if they can get a decent and rotational real ale in, they will have ticked all boxes, a great addition to the local area and just what we need , I predict this place will go from strength to strength once word gets out , the challenge is maintaining standards and continually improving , staff are a valuable asset to any customer based service and can have a bearing on whether you return, the staff here seem genuinely customer focused and genuinely want to please . the Spanish call it tapas , we call it a picky tea and whats not to like aboot picky teas! adios amigos , Buenos noche

Visited the new coach inn tonight with my girlfriend for tapas, walked into a lovely ambience & log fire, ordered drinks and as we were in the 5-7 happy hour we hit button and received 25% off our drinks! We opted for the 7 tapas for £22 with 2 free glasses of wine and we were not disappointed, the tapas menu is simple but at the same time has a different variety, the crab prawn & chilli balls were outstanding & along with belly pork, patatas bravas, chicken wings, garlic king prawns, garlic mushrooms & meatballs I must say this self taught chef MUST be tried, the bar staff were very attentive & friendly & all in all the new coach in will be definitely be visited again! The beer garden is very cosy with modern furnishings & fairy lights making an extremely cosy comfortable environment, this place is newcastle/Jesmond standard on your doorstep without the bustle, 12 out of 10 coach inn, we will DEFINITELY be back soon!!!

Waitress / barmaid great but run off her feet. So understaffed. Kitchen service awful. Brought mains with starters. Sent mains back but when we got them back they had obviously been kept warm on a hotplate. So chips cold and rice hard. To be fair the waitress gave us free drinks and didn't charge for the meals we returned but she was totally let down by the kitchen staff. Actually, the food seemed to be of decent quality if it hadn't have been cold / hard / reheated. This place could be so good if the kitchen was better organised. Get some more / better staff and we might return. Until then .....

Rumour had it there was a new owner and new chef and new menu , always been a bit of a boozer in the past so went there with some trepidation, but glad to say massively surprised, menu is limited but that's not a negative because quality over quantity seems to be the principle , they seem to specialise in very special burgers but the Pad Thai caught our attention, but we were guilty of unconscious bias because we were not expecting much , surely only thai restaurants can do a decent thai, but hey what came was quite amazing, and they did not skimp on the chicken so great value, A USP was the fact they offered it mild, medium or spicy , , we were well impressed and we followed it with home made fudge ice cream, now we have many home made ice cream places at the coast , so they had something to live upto, this effort was superb, to be honest we find some of the ice cream parlours have the ice cream too rich, so it was as good as we have had doon the coast,we were served and very warmly welcomed by a lady with a southern accent, who was really friendly and genuinely concerned that we were enjoying our meal. my only minor niggle is real ale was off but the pint of boddys was next best thing , I understand Sunday lunches are good if anything near the standard of the evening meal we had they will be worth having - we will be back and thanks for the discount vouchers, hope you have success in an area that was desperate for something a little different

Myself and 5 others have been going to the pub every Wednesday for the last 2 years, its noisy and not the cleanest of places but the staff made up for it, we turned up last night along with about 30 others (first time since before Christmas) to be told that the pub was under new management and the quiz would not be on.... the quiz master was not needed, they would be starting a quiz up at the end of the month.... it was a ludicrous situation, we ended up all of us including the quiz master at another venue nearby.. needless to say they were delighted to see us on a very quiet Wednesday night and happy to have us there every Wednesday.. The Coach Inn was left empty and shall be most Wednesdays from now on....

When to the Red Lion for dinner, staff very pleasant, bar area nice and spacious and generally clean ,that’s where it ends ,myself and wife sat at table no 42 facing the corner opposite, where four dogs were congratulating with there owners ,lovely dogs ,so lovely they had a dogs water bowl on there table ,the dogs sat on the seats next to there owners ,and even due to the fact that the owners put dog blankets on the seats ,the dogs just walked over the seats ,I do believe that the dogs found the tables ok for there use ,but call my old fashioned it was not acceptable to me and my wife ,please note iam not saying anything detrimental about the dogs they felt at home ,you may ask the question why I ordered the meals in this situation, one reason is that my wife does not like confrontation,so I kept my mouth shut ,the meal my wife wanted was not available so she chose another ,I chose Irish burgers Wow wow What a pile of rubbish ,mind you the dogs kept looking over at them ,but iam not cruel I love dogs ,would not like the vet bills if they ate them The icing on the cake was when my wife went for the salt she picked it up and low and behold they had not put the bottom on ,this in due course allowed the salt to pour out from the bottom ,method in there mad ness more salt kills the taste no complaints This is fact oh and do not drink the beer unless you like warm flat ale

I went to watch the Liverpool vs. Southampton match. The place wasn’t too crowded; there were still seats available, and I arrived on time. The people there created a great atmosphere. I liked that it was pet-friendly, as the presence of pets added a nice vibe to the place. It was cozy, with good pints, and the staff had a very friendly and helpful attitude.
