Turks Head in North Tyneside

Used to get in here from 1990 until around early 2000's regularly with the Tynemouth mags, popped in and loved it again.

Good pub, reasonably priced drinks. The staff are friendly and helpful. Love the fact they allow dogs in here.

Called in today with my dog, dad and husband was made to feel welcome we had a lovely pizza and great beer

Went in for a couple of drinks in the afternoon.

We popped in for a drink or two. Green King pubs are usually good, but this is not my favorite. It looks good, decoration and nice atmosphere. Selection of ales and cider are good enough, staff friendly. But the BIG downside was the men's room. It was disgusting. It was narrow and tiny. There was one toilet at the end of the room and you had to pass the urinal area to get there. And the floor was covered in urin. So we had our one drink and went off to the next place, so I could find a decent toilet. Sorry, wouldn't come back to this place. It's a shame, because everything else in this pub is pretty much fine.

Went for the pub quiz in a Monday night and it was a true fun 'experience'. Supported by a very decent pint of speckled hen bitter.

You should be ashamed charging the prices you do ! The staff were very pleasant which was the only saving grace ! How can you charge £4.55 for a pint of Carling ??? The place needs a refurb. No wonder there were only 3 customer plus me and my hubby!! Shocking 🤯

Love this pub it's about as "British" as it's going to get for you, right by the coast but still in the market town of tynemouth

Our go-to ‘local’, even though we’re actually from Wallsend! We make it out most Mondays for the best prepared and most challenging quiz in the North East, and despite bang average results every week we still love the atmosphere. Pizzas are always incredible and the staff are great whenever you visit. It’s usually our last stop on a weekend night in Tynemouth too 👌🏻

Booked a table for the England game and was greeted by a lovely girl behind the bar who showed us to our table. Great atmosphere and the bar staff were all very friendy. We met four people from Stockton Martin, Katie, Sarah and Graeme who made the night even better( if England get to another final let's meet up in the same bar same place🤞). Great choice of ale and bottles at a great price. Thanks to all for a great night, shame about the result though

Called in for a few beers before concert and great atmosphere and staff BUT the gents toilets stink of years old stale urine.. stingy the nostrils.

I did not eat here I just tasted the excellent beer choices. It's had a revamp since I last set foot here and it is a great improvement. The staff are very attentive and I am looking forward to many more visits.

Great pub. Historic building with a stuffed dog to prove that. Friendly staff. Good range of beers. Only problem is pints are more expensive than anywhere else in Tynemouth

An old style pub where we could hear each other

Really good pub, nice staff, really good old traditional pub that has been left as is and long may it stay that way. Guinness was 5 times better than the new Irish bar. Always a stop off for us when in Tynemouth

Popular bar good atmosphere and a good range of beers

I love this pub and have visited many times over the years. Great place, friendly staff, good range of drinks But....the toilets really let it down! I know it's a very old building, but the mould is disgusting, black and wet and probably a health hazard! It won't put me off visiting again but it's a minging!

Lovely pub full of local history

Good bar lots of choice staff are polite and professional. Go see the stuffed dog in the case and read his story. Would recommend a visit.

Great pub, great atmosphere…went with my partner to watch the match on a Saturday night when something very strange happened. My partner & I were sitting on high stools facing each other when he suddenly turned his head in alarm after feeling someone blow heavily into his ear from behind. There was nobody behind him!! Btw….it didn’t disturb us we are just really intrigued… Can I ask are you haunted?!

First time here last week as I normally stay at the top end of Tynemouth and I’ve gotta say this is gonna be one of my favourites from now on, excellent service, good price on a wide range of drinks and Cory behind the bar was excellent too, friendly, nothing was too much and did everything with a smile I’ll definitely be back soon.

A gem of a pub, steeped in local history and defiantly old fashioned. While the rest of Tynemouth tries hard to be quirky, sanatised and modern, the Turks Head is a breath of fresh air. It boasts a great beer selection, lovely staff and a proper atmosphere. In my eyes the Stuffed Dog is arguably the best pub on Front Street.

Cumberland arms about 150yds down the road pint of San Miguel and a single vodka with soda water £7.45. Turks head pint of Peroni and a single vodka and soda water £10.25!!!! Please explain, either a pint of Peroni is almost £3 more than san Miguel or you charge almost £3 for a dash of soda water! Will be staying in the Cumberland next time, which I definitely recommend more anyway since the refurb and new management. Daylight robbery! Just to add the new tynemouth castle inn is only £9 for the same drinks! Come on! I see you have posted a reply! But no explanation of the extortionate price, I guess you don’t want to admit that you charge a stupid amount for something that costs virtually nothing?

Quiet Thursday night but expensive

We didn't have food so that can't be rated but if you're looking for a proper traditional pub the Turks Head (Stuffed Dog) is the place to go. The pub was nicely decorated for Christmas with the fires burning and we had only intended staying for one but stayed there for three. Warm, good choice of drinks and prompt service.

Beware!! There charging over £5 a pint of Stella. That’s taking the mick. I travel around the country so I have a good idea of what the price of pint is, sadly won’t be back.

Called in just for a quick coffee and we were made really welcome. Going to go back at the weekend for proper drinks...

Had a lovely time visiting Tynemouth, but what topped it off was this pub! It was a bit chilly in the evening so we decided to find somewhere cosy with real ale. We were not disappointed and stayed all night. The beer was on point and the staff kept a smile on our faces all evening. Go and pay them a visit of you're in the area!

Decided to meet up with some of my friends I went to school with and this was a fantastic place to meet good choices of beers and ciders bar staff was welcoming and fast serving definitely be back again

Nice pub in a great area, lovely and well kept. Had a pint of Estrella which was lovely and they had a pretty wide variety of lagers. Dog in the wall is kinda cool too 🙏🏻

Called in a week ago with friends, quite busy for a Thursday night & had some great banter going with a group of locals, we would’ve stayed longer but there were quite a lot of fruit type flies around so we drank up and left such a shame as it’s a good pub with a great selection of drinks, always make me sad reading the dogs story & seeing him in the case though.

Lovely pub, the range of beers was excellent and a decent price. No food which wasn't a problem as the landlord was more than happy for us to bring food from the local chippy. Friendly welcome unlike one of the bars nearby.

After a nice coastal walk along the coast from Whitley Bay, we had a pleasant hour or so at The Turks Head. Friendly staff and an excellent selection of well-kept beers. Pubs like this are, sadly, becoming scarce. Highly recommend!

I lived, I laughed, I loved, I got charged £3.30 for a pint. Sound place. The quiz on a Monday was a transcendent experience. 10/10 would lose again.

If you want returning customers dont charge £3:30 for a rubbish draught coke for the designated driver

Was having a lovely afternoon in Turks head until a strange rule applied of no kids after 6.30pm.. no signs in pub to suggest this and we had a 15 year old with us.. won’t return for this stupid rule

Another visit for me while in Tynemouth. Was last there in December 2022, and the Stella Artois had been removed, gutted. There last week and was in two minds whether to pop in while passing, glad I did, Stella has returned. Great boozer, lots of choice drinks wise for everyone. Hoping to visit again later in the year. Definitely recommend.

Great little pub. See Wandering Willie the famous stuffed dog here. Changed layout since I was last in ( while ago). Stella £4.50 ish a pint. Few real ales normally available.

Although there are plenty of food reviews I turned up with a 20% off voucher (after investigating on Trip Advisor. THEY NO LONGER SERVE FOOD!!!!

I recently visited the Turks Head in Tynemouth and had a fantastic time! The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable, and I loved the selection of draught beers. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a great night out!

Great pub. We popped in here after sampling a few bars along Front Street and stayed. The drinks, music and atmosphere was the best here. Chilled vibe and with no aira and graces. Perfect.

Great pub in the best location. Went in with my partner and 10 month old just after lunch. The hospitality from the, what I assume was the manger, was absolutely phenomenal. Warm and friendly an pours an awesome Guinness. A true professional running a great venue. Will definitely return next time we’re in the area.

At last an old fashioned pub, correctly untouched by it’s owners. We only went for a drink but I was particularly impressed by the bearded barman. Even though busy, he found time to carry two stools to make us comfortable. Later he came over to offer a more comfortable table. Rarely do we see this quality of customer appreciation.

Great barman Phil. Wide selection of beers. Nice atmosphere. Central location in Tynemouth. Recommended.

I would like to say the service from the bar man I found out was called Phillip. Was unforgettable In all aspects of service, you ask he will jump high for whatever your needs….. I will be coming back for more after the last thrill I received on my last experience received….

Lovely pub, great atmosphere on a really busy Friday night! Staff were fantastic, not at all flustered, poured amazing pints all night and treated us like old friends! Superviser (think her name was Becky? Vickie?) Handled some unruly customers with ease, defusing a potential issue...

Out for a walk along the coast and popped in for drinks. Lovely staff very friendly, fast service. Wine was lovely and my friends neice said the cola was lush and did they do refills 😄 Will definitely be back.
