Fantastic Sunday roast. All fresh vegetables and homemade yorkshire pudding.

First time visiting this pub on way home, so glad we did ,lovely food all made fresh, very helpful and friendly staff, halloween features very impressive, nice to see people make effort, well worth a visit, you won't be disappointed.

Just happened upon this pub while our driving one Sunday, decided to pop in for some lunch. Opted for the roast lamb.... and well, I have to say, possibly one of the tastiest roast lamb dinners I've had in years! (And I am not easily pleased!!!) I can't recommend enough. The staff were friendly and quite reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend 👌

Went for Sunday dinner with my daughter drinks pricey, dinner was average, meats were nice,but did not get much, mashed potato was not very nice it was in clumps and i nearly broke a tooth on a roast potato, they were from a packet and had been left in heat that long they went rock hard, i can honestly say it's only average nothing to shout about, would i go again probably not.

Stopped off at this quaint pub on the way back home from a day trip to Matfen. Astounded by the quality of food. Young couple sharing a starter, 2 mains and a desert. Worth a detour !

Stayed over in the Motorhome and booked in for Tea great food great atmosphere Mega dog friendly food was so good we booked for the next night Staff were so friendly and accompanied we were there with 6 adults and 4 large dogs and we were made to feel so welcome

We booked in with a motorhome on Friday night as we had an event to attend near by on Saturday morning. The food and staff were so amazing that we booked in for food on the Saturday night too. Definitely be back soon. Thanks

First time at carvery here, after being told about it and seeing photos of their dishes. . Simple traditional fare done at its best. All food freshly made and generous portions. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Will certainly return regularly now.

Absolutely delicious. My friend and I stopped in while hiking Hadrian's Wall. I got a spiced vegetarian chili that was just amazing after walking so far on a gray day. With a pint of Guinness...YUM!

Went with friends for lunch on a Monday, staff very friendly ordered food, I had mince and dumplings sorry to say not that nice, mince ok, dumpling very dry, mash solid. My friends enjoyed their meals. I did not say anything at the time as I had been invited and didn’t want to make a scene. Will go back but try different meal.

Came yesterday for Sunday lunch , what a great find , food was lovely, gorgeous roast potatoes and mahooosive Yorkie puds. Bar staff absolutely lovely and friendly will definitely be back for more, very family/child friendly, conservatory with toys for my "easily bored" children to play with. A massive garden outside with climbing frame which would be fab on a nice day. A total gem ✨️

Visited for Sunday carvery which was lovely. The gammon was tasty and all the veg was fresh, none of this frozen stuff you get in chain restaurants. Reason for the 2* review is not based on the food more the customer service. We started coming back into the pub when it got took over and were so pleased as the new owners were lovely and nothing was a problem. The owner and his partner used to go out of their way to chat and make sure everything was ok. There is now a different women on the bar and I have to say she is nothing like the owners. She is miserable and abrupt to say the least. You don't get a smile when you go to the bar to order you get a scowl and a sharp 'yes' when it's your turn to be served. Its such as shame as we really enjoyed coming back into the Robin Hood but the last 3 times we have been the customer service has been the same so unfortunately we won't be coming back any time soon. I hope the owners read this and start working the bar themselves bit more as they have brilliant customer service skills.

Worst customer service ever. Walked in to pub and no one behind the bar. Became apparent that the girl outside smoking was the bar maid when she walked in and said 'yes'. Obviously wasn't bothered we were waiting inside as she hadn't rushed to get back in to serve us. We asked for a table and was abruptly told to 'sit where ever you want' Went to bar to order food and was greeted abruplty again with 'Yes' Not 'how may I help you or anything'. Ordered our food and drinks was handed the card machine without a word and given drinks. I asked for some ice in my drink and got a huff and a puff before she disappeared into the back to get some. I stood and shook my head and looked at the man stood at the bar waiting to be serve. He told me she is always like that and that's why the place is dead. Food was served again without a word being spoken to us it was just plonked on our table. The food was delicious, piping hot and great portion sizes. The plates where not removed from our table after we had finished and where still there 20mins later even. Bar maid just stood behind bar doing nothing looking incredibly miserable. We finished our drinks and left. We regularly eat in the pub along the road who we thought had the most miserable and rude bar maid but this girl trumps her so we won't be back which is a shame as the food was lovely.

Took ages for food to arrive and also the coleslaw was pickled cabbage and beetroot and not what we were expecting. I loved the Halloween decorations, but that isn't enough to make us come back

Stayed overnight in motorhome on carpark. Met with friends for Sunday carvery. Lovely meal, brilliant and pleasant service. Very busy, book in advance.

We enjoyed our meals and sat out in the sun I had fish peas and chips the other had mince, potatoes, peas and dumpling and the other had steak pie chips and peas very nice

Food has taken a step back. Never in my life have I had sausage and mash like it.. Small, plain, no flavour breakfast ones on microwaved mash. Scale the menu down to save waste and promote quality over quantity.

Was overcharged £16.90 for family meal didn't even say sorry .Just told me it would be returned to my card in next few days. Food ok

Newly refurbished play area outside is great. We sat in the conservatory so we could watch the children play. It was a very very hot day so unfortunately the conservatory was extremely uncomfortable. Not the staff or pubs fault at all, we can't control the weather. Staff did what they could putting the ceiling fans on, opening windows and doors and we couldn't fault their efforts at all. Maybe some free standing fans plugged in there would help on hot days as none of the above really made a difference. Service was great however and if we were to return we just wouldn't sit in the conservatory when it's 25 degrees outside. Overall a lovely visit.

Friendly welcoming pub with a growing menu and drinks range. Dog friendly throughout, child friendly (outdoor play area too), pool table and have certainly upped their wine game under the new management.

Me and some family ate here last night and they were short staffed and the pub was quite full so we were expecting a bit of a wait for the food but it came out within 10 minutes and to say the food was tasty would be an understatement! The cowboy burger was to die for. I will definitely be back!

PERFECT for a puppy party!!! We celebrated our golden retriever litters 1st birthday here.. they have a gated garden and a lovely conservatory which we had all to ourselves. We had lovely food and the Pups had bowls of water on demand. They also have a lovely play area outside and kids corner in the conservatory. This pub is perfect if you have Dogs or Kids! We will be back! Thank you all so much!

We often called into The Robin Hood years ago but heard new owners had taken over so popped in this afternoon. This pub has the potential to be a great old fashioned country pub again the owners are very friendly and in the space of a few weeks have created a nice homely atmosphere. The food was excellent and recommend The Robin Hood is the place to go especially after a walk in the miles of tracks surrounding the pub.

Hired the conservatory last night for my daughter's gender reveal as was a perfect space for a small family gathering. Owners were extremely helpful throughout - couldn't do enough to make sure our evening was as we wanted it - checking in to see that we were okay and if they could help with anything - will definitely be back

We used to eat here at least once a week when the old owners had it. Then they sold it and the new owners took pool table away changed whole menu and hiked up prices. Now Stacey and Mark have taken over. It’s fresher the real fire was burning. Small menu great choices. Food and service was fabulous. They are also renovating the back garden for the summer.

had high expectations from it being took over however from walking in with my partner we had to go grab our own menus ourselves and find a table. we asked how the food was and what was recommended and was told that the chef is amazing and the loaded fries and wings, ribs were fab. it was absolutely awful food, everything tasted bland, mushy and frozen nothing fresh whatsoever. left all of the food and didn’t touch anything and was only asked what was wrong once actually paying for it at the bar. wont be going back.

Came for a Sunday lunch, booked in advance. Informed once we had sit down and ordered drinks that there was no chicken available. We then waited 20 minutes to order food, by the time we were served there was no lamb available either. At which point we decided to leave. To add to the poor experience any respectable establishment would gave the drinks on the house, especially when we ordered drinks before being informed of the lack of food choices. Overall a poor experience, poor staff and won’t return.

Had such a fab meal today. Highly recommend the posh fish finger sandwich, which was just lovely and the double cooked chips were perfect. My friends had the quiche, which we had a very short wait to receive it freshly made, they said it was absolutely delicious. This was also accompanied by double cooked chips, crispy and golden and also homemade coleslaw. Staff are just so lovely, always so attentive, nothing is too much trouble. Definitely worth a visit and enjoy fresh homecooked food x

I had the pork dinner and it was perfect. Everything cooked so well it melted in my mouth, even the vegetables after a satisfying munchy crunch or two. The crackling was the piece de resistance. Definitely my best Sunday dinner out and borderline best ever,...

Sunday lunch for 5. Huge portions, best garlic mushrooms as a starter we have tasted in a while Tomato and red pepper soup was very nice. Lunch was very filling no room for dessert. Sam and staff are very attentive and cheerful.

Went here as a recommendation by someone who goes regular, arrived for opening time and asked for the menu and was advised the special was liver and bacon or pie. Ordered three portions of the liver which arrived quite quickly which was a very small...

My wife and I, with friends who live locally, went to this pub last night Fri. 5th August and it was our first visit since the new owners/tennants took over. We arrived at approx 9pm, and I say again, Friday night. Apart from one other person, who transpired to be a member of staff, it was totally empty. The "olde worlde" decor and decorations have been stripped away. The old large tables which seated up to 8 people have gone to be replaced by non- descript uncomfortable modern furniture. The bar stools have been removed permanently which will put off single drinkers. Who wants to sit at a table alone? The menus, which are now printed on plain white paper and apparently intended to deter diners, have increased in price in some cases by more than 100%. Fish and chips were £5.95 under the old ownership. Now £12.95. Some of the most popular beers are being removed which has already stopped some regulars from going in. In these days of cheap supermarket drinks a pub needs an"angle" to entice people to come to the pub, especially a pub so far from the beaten track. This pub is now totally devoid of atmosphere and unless something drastic happens, we will not be returning. These new owners appear to be hell-bent on closing this pub for all time. The brewery need to be made aware of the situation here and the new owners turfed out otherwise it's bye-bye to this formerly very popular local village pub.

Good local pub good food and drink

Only one 'real ale' which was good. Sadly the Gent's toilets were shocking - extremely smelly, no hand cleaner and a hand dryer which didn't work. If the toilets can't be kept up to a good hygienic standard what does that say for the kitchen?

Nice little pub in a very quiet area, good beer, dog friendly and they've just updated the menu, the pizzas are really good! Good seating at the front and also have a good size enclosed area at the back with a small play area for kids. Lovely place to spend a warm afternoon.

Since the new management Carl and Sam took over the running of the Robin Hood on 11th April 2022, the place has changed dramatically over all aspect. The inside is much cleaner, brighter, and reducing the number of tables has made it a more relaxing...

First impression was the double prices. We were told that it had been taken over new management. The old owner did beautiful home cooked food. We were told that the food the previous owner served was not fresh. We had gone for years and the food was home cooked and wholesome. We were told the prices now reflected the quality of the food which we would find was all fresh local produce. We waited a good while for two very poor meals. It was obviously anything but fresh. The pie had obviously been microwaved. The beef was tough. Twice cooked chips were hard. The meal was tasteless. Not a patch on the previous owner’s food. Small portions which was just as well as food was awful. But we were hungry! We won’t be back.

We used to really enjoy coming here, but since the ownership change the menu is not as good, but worse the play area in the back has been closed completely. No info if they plan to reopen it, it was completely overgrown and locked over Jubilee weekend. I'm pretty sure I could have driven nails with the dumpling on my mince, too. Portion sizes for what entrees are still on the menu have dropped dramatically and quality was down. Prices, like everywhere, are up. No pies, I don't think they do curries anymore, etc. Hoping it's just growing pains with a change in ownership and they'll level out eventually, because this used to be a gem of a pub. Three stars because you can still get a pint and the outdoor seating out front is still nice 🤷‍♀️

Came for Sunday Lunch, was ok. Beef alittle over cooked, veg not much taste & watery Gravy. (Swap cauliflower for Brocoli) Was expecting changes to pub but nothing changed except moving around of tables. Very overgrown back garden. Couldn't even see picnic tables the grass was that big. My little one was gutted as he always liked to play outside. Hopefully a new revamped back garden & kids equipment will be on the cards and we will return.
