Ship Inn in North Tyneside

Good vegan food, girlfriend loved it and her family, who were vegan, were very impressed and loved how it was vegan, but wasn’t making its “veganess” the focal point of the pub. Felt like a normal pub so the atmosphere was great!! amazing location. Our server at the bar was lovely, helped us when needed and was sure to clear the table as we sat down. We played a game of Guess Who, which was great fun, the selection of games was great to see and nice to see people off their phones and enjoying eachother company. Overall, would definitely recommend the “chicken” burger, the BCT or something like that!!!

Went here on a bustling Saturday afternoon for drinks with friends. The atmosphere was great, full of people and a good vibe about the place. Good selection of drinks available and service was relatively quick given how busy it was. Would recommend and return again!

Saturday 15th April, a sunny afternoon, we waited 40 minutes for an olives and hummus dish with a toasted pitta bread. We asked three times why there was such a delay for what was essentially a cold dish. When it eventually arrived I asked to speak to the manager JS. The manager claimed the delay was because everything is prepared to order, in order and that they were exceptionally busy. My view is that operations at this premises are not efficient.

We had a really nice afternoon meal at The Ship Inn last weekend. The place was quiet when we arrived and the staff were welcoming and friendly. We ordered a couple of local beers and some food. We really liked the place in general. Food arrived quickly, I had a burger and my partner had the falafel wrap, we both loved it. We were starving but the portions were quite big so we were stuffed. After a short while the place got busier with chatty friendly people, couples playing board games and even a cute friendly doggo. We left very happy. Highly recommend :))

Spend loads on a round and cant even shelter from the rain outside. What a joke ! Very unhelpfull staff. Waiting for taxi in rain and asked to leave 😪 😴 😒

Great breakfast and coffee with detail to the presentation of the breakfast, very helpful in getting refills. Great room, clean, it was a shame the restaurant closed early. Isolated location but nice.

It was my birthday and we weren’t told the kitchen closed at 18:00. When asked if we could at least order takeaway to the pub this was declined Despite good service here previously I won’t be visiting again

Lovely early afternoon few few beers in the Ship Benton x the blonde cask ale was spot -on - as was the service and company - both bar staff and customers were great. Bar felt very safe and everyone was so friendly. Will deffo return, thank you xxx

En Nochebuena, durante muchos años, hemos ido a The Ship Inn, ya que vivimos localmente. Siempre ha estado lleno y tenía un buen ambiente. Mi hija, que trabaja lejos, siempre se encuentra con sus viejos amigos de la escuela. Este año, fue tranquilo, así que fuimos a otro lado. Sus amigos la contactaron para decirle que estaban en The Ship y que le habían comprado una bebida. Regresamos a las 10:45 p.m. y a mi hija se le negó la entrada a un hombre hosco en la puerta, diciendo que no había más entradas permitidas y que su actitud era inútil, extremadamente inflexible y grosera. Creo que él es el gerente. Nos fuimos muy molestos y no volveremos a visitar, ya que muchos de mis amigos también se han quejado de una falta similar de servicio al cliente recientemente.

Had a great Sunday lurch here after reading a recent recommendation by the Evening chronicle. Found the staff very friendly and the pub had a nice atmosphere. The food was very tasty with the beef being cooked perfectly, veg had a nice bite, tasty Yorkshires and roasties served with a nice rich gravy. Will return soon.

Servicio al cliente horrible! Nunca volveré. Mientras esperaba en el bar, un bar muy enojado sigue recogiendo un letrero del área de servicio del piso y lo golpeó exactamente en frente de mí, después de moverse, ella continuó ignorándome a mí ya mi compañero y movió el letrero más allá. Ella no hizo ningún esfuerzo por explicar que el lugar donde estábamos parados se había convertido repentinamente en un área de servicio e incluso después de que otros clientes me indicaron que estaba delante de ellos, ella siguió ignorándonos. Cuando mi compañero le preguntó cuál era su problema, ella dijo que él era el que tenía una mala actitud.

The pub had ceased trading. Hopefully someone new will take it over soon. Indicentally several of the reviews on this site are clearly on the wrong page. It's a pub in Benton not a restaurant in Byker 😕

Este brillante pub se encuentra en Ouseburn East Newcastle, lleno de carácter y sirve excelentes comidas veganas. Está literalmente debajo del puente Byker.Acceso - OK, los autobuses son un paseo por la orilla, no hay una estación cercana de METRO, en una ruta ciclista tranquila. El aparcamiento se paga junto al pub. Hay varios lugares interesantes cerca, The Cluny, un gran pub con mucha música en vivo, el centro de libros para niños Seven Stories National, los establos Stepney Bank Riding y Ouseburn City Farm compiten por su atención. El acceso está en el nivel pero no pude ver un inodoro discapacitado.El pub - una gran sala con un bar en el medio. Hay amplios asientos al aire libre. Fantástico restaurante vegano! Al principio estaba un poco preocupado, pero definitivamente recomendaría esta gema. ¿A alguien incluyendo a aquellos como yo que disfrutan la carne? La comida es tan buena que comí tofu que no había probado antes y estaba delicioso. Una buena variedad de cervezas y cervezas de verdad, así que no tengo ninguna queja.

Fantastic vegan restaurant. It's a superfood restaurant with fresh food and amazing flavours. They have vegan alcohol and the portion sizes are huge. Absolutely phenomenal and very reasonably priced. Best place for vegans in Newcastle in my opinion.

Always low stocks of beer if any invariably no real ales run short very often. Shame really always been a favourite of ours for 55 years. Cant rate restaurant as only does Sunday dinners we don't go. Which they say are very good

Popped in for first time in years as was closed last time we were in area. Hasn't lost any of character - proper local boozer, comfortable and warm, great reasonably priced beer - the Theaston's Shipwreck was excellent. Helpful friendly barmaid - will return x

Popped in for a pint and ended up staying till closing. Good range of cask ales and wine was sold by the bottle if you wanted. Pleasant staff and an added bonus was a really good band called Palladium playing who had the locals up on their feet dancing !

To call this pub a restaurant is an absolute joke. There were signs everywhere including a blackboard outside stating food could be ordered but when we went to order we were told this stopped at 6pm. It was only 7pm when we asked not exactly an unreasonable hour. This is no reflection on the staff who were brilliant or the live music which was the only reason we stayed. Even the beer garden sign was posted on a private door?! Please update before many others have to starve!

This is the second time we have been. The weather was good so it was crowded outside and busy inside. The drink choice is very good and the vegetarian food is varied tasty and well presented. The veggie teriyaki burger was fantastic. Service was good for a very popular pub and the staff are helpful and friendly.

Decoración pub tradicional, que aún mantiene separada, aunque vinculada, zonas que evoque el bar público. sala de estar y sala de días. Un par de cervezas normalmente disponibles y sólo £2. 20 una pinta cuando visité la semana - entiendo que esta es la política general de ahora. Vale la pena apoyar -como pubs están desapareciendo rápido y te perderás de ellos (y la camarera de la amable acogida) cuando están ocupadas.

First visit here since change of management, food, staff, service, portions as good as they were in the past. All fresh veg, proper good sized and tasty Yorkies, always the acid test for Sunday lunch. Meat plentiful and tender. Give it a go.

Volvimos al barco para comer el domingo y inn eran muy decepcionado con la comida. Hemos estado aquí muchas veces a lo largo de los años y siempre he dicho que sirven la mejor comida de domingo en Newcastle, pero no ahora. La comida era insípida y tenía lo que parecía varios artículos congelados o en lata.

Excelente relación calidad-precio casa cocinado asadas, opciones de carnes más pequeñas placas, bueno para los niños.

Este lugar tenía un gran ambiente y los parroquianos nos dio la bienvenida. Fuimos por unos tragos, pero pensamos volver para comer el domingo después de oír cosas buenas. La camarera (Gerry o Jenny?) fue muy paciente con nosotros cuando no podíamos decidir qué. Ella nos dio su completa atención aunque estaba muy concurrido. Ella parecía saber un montón de clientes personalmente que es un buen toque en un pub local.

The Sunday lunches are to die for, it does get busy so either book or go early to avoid disappointment. I have been a few times and everything is fresh and made from scratch.

Great place for a quick pint or two. Clean, friendly and plenty of choice for drink too. It has Sky Sports, plenty seats, a restaurant and parking nearby.

Visited The Ship Inn today for the first time for Sunday lunch. We went on the recommendation of Eddie Eats secret diner from the Sunday Sun local newspaper. I had reserved a table and pleased that I did. Despite a few diners being in the pub when we entered, we noticed quite a lot of reserved tables and the pub soon filled up. From entering and being seated, our experience was first class. The service from all staff was superb - professional, helpful, friendly and approachable. We ordered our lunch and drinks from the friendly staff and weren't seated too long before our meals arrived. You can have a choice of 4 roasts, beef, pork, lamb and chicken. The small roasts are around the £4.95 (I think), but we went for the larger roasts. One of our group went for the roast beef and another and myself went for the chicken. The food was superb. The vegetables were all freshly cooked (no frozen) and consisted of roast, mash, carrots, turnip, cabbage and parsnips. There was a huge, home-made Yorkshire pudding and when you order the large chicken roast, you get half a chicken. The food was simply delicious and the est pub Sunday roast I'd had outside of home cooked. I couldn't finish this and will be downsizing at my next visit.

Popped in to one of our favourite places for Sunday lunch, the Ship Inn. It was just 2:20pm and when we tried to order food at the bar we were told that they had stopped taking orders due to high demand. They advertise food served between 12 and 4pm but obviously not so today. Really disappointing, the food here is normally very good however today seemed like organised chaos.

Be a mug and get ripped off by the drunk barmen trying to fleece you with his drunk mate standing on the customer side of the bar. I popped into this local pub for a beer, the barman appeared extremely helpful, if a bit worse for wear of the drink. His pal, a customer, offered to buy my beer. I insisted on paying. The barman took my cash and put it in his pocket, before then taking it out his pocket and giving it to his mate. When I asked for my change, the barmen insisted that I hadn't paid. Really! Is this how a so called friendly local pub wants to operate? Perhaps it would be better closed. I for one would not drink in this pub if it was the last place available.

A Great local Bar,with very friendly staff & a wide range of local & imported beers,a must for a quick drink or stay allnight.....

We go here regularly as a family for Sunday Lunch, what we like is the meals are consistently good, Lamb always tender and great value at £5.95 for a large lunch. Always mash, roasties, and three or four veg By the time you mess on in the house its far easier to go to The Ship. You can even get a take out at the same price complete with tub of gravy etc.

Good beer served in the traditional way. Staff are friendly and helpful. Not many establishments like this one left.

A nice, old fashioned pub, where good company and service rule. They care and look after you well and I have never seen any bother there. Go for a pint and enjoy.

This place is amazing. Home cooked meals, which are amazing. The ship is really under rated. I think the chefs from here could enter master chef and win it. The beers are brilliant and so is the cider. When ever you walk in you are welcomed like one of the family. Amazing !!!

Went for Sunday lunch for first time on recommendation from a regular. Pub was very busy mainly families and it was difficult to find a table but we managed to though it wasn't where I would have chosen to sit (near bar and front door). which was draughty with people coming and going. Food was ok but not great though it was reasonably priced. It was also a bit noisy as there were a lot of young children. I prefer to eat in a calmer more relaxed atmosphere not having young children myself.
