Very highly recommend. Lovely food, very reasonably priced and a nice atmosphere. Looking forward to our next visit.

Great atmosphere and, beautiful food

Unfortunately steak was massively over cooked but when you pay that little for it you can't really complain. Staff were very accommodating and offered reparations without prompting.

Really good local, 2 good pool tables, darts, sport on, foods good, good choice and a decent pint. Always go there when i visit the area, oh and great quiz night, nearly won (Not!)

Went to the powder monkey for a meal with friends for husband's birthday and the atmosphere was fantastic we had an amazing meal the staff were very friendly and welcoming.highly recommended for food

Do not eat here every bit of food is massively overcooked blacked and charred like a stone. The kids chicken nuggets overcooked hard. The stake was supposed to be medium rare. Clearly the fryers are too high burnt oil and the grill is clearly not clean .Then when you mention politely look can this be recooked the chef comes out and argues Infront of everyone in the pub her food is absolutely fine not burnt and tries to make you look stupid. Can't take criticism.

Been in today, was nice service and friendly staff. Used to go here alot. Get together with friends as singer on and we like a dance. Unfortunately there were too many kids running about the bar and dance floor with their toys. Didn't feel like a bar. Shame for singer as she was good.

Xmas dinner a disaster, main course pigs in blankets couldn't stick fork in ,all frozen veg and turkey off a roll.first and last time there.went back next morning spoke to the manager, was very professional and sympathetic, explained things and had a satisfactory conclusion.

I cannot fault the staff at all, really friendly and helpful. However a group of us went for the Festive Menu, the Christmas pie was bland and undercooked. The fish on the normal Menu was overcooked and treacle coloured outside and cold inside. The puddings weren't hot either. The pub itself was far too noisy aswell as the music speaker was allocated above us in the conservatory and the obnoxious fall mouthed man doing the quiz just completely ruined the whole festive experience.

Spent 17.50£ per head for a disappointing xmasadinner not proper turkey frozen vegetables undercooked yorshire puddings very hard to cook roast potatoes terrible ,and Christmas pudding so meagre will not go back again .

Visité esta tarde para una comida rápida con mi papá, no había estado en unos años a pesar de ser local. La comida ha mejorado drásticamente desde que solíamos visitar hace 10 años, estaba muy impresionado. La comida era muy buena, el personal era amable y el ambiente era agradable, sin duda volveremos más regularmente.

Visitando durante la noche y tuvimos nuestra cena aquí, absolutamente encantador, la comida fantástica y el personal era tan amable, mi compañero es sin gluten y dijo que era la mejor comida que ha tenido en mucho tiempo, sin duda volveré la próxima visita

The fish need to be cooked a bit more. But the coffee is nice even if the cup was a bit full afters was nice I recommend chocolate sunday and the chocolate cake was very nice chips was good so was the beans where ok to. My son had scampi he say it was lush but his peas where a bit cold the chips where so good as he say .I did ask bread and but wich was nice but I ended up with Wight instead of brown. Wich did in the order. Over all I think a far score is 4 for the place I would of gave it 5 but the fish needed a slightly bit more time in the pan.

I took my friend for a nice quiet Birthday breakfast. Ellie who was serving was very pleasant and nothing was a problem. The food cooked my Sarah was lovely.

We go there most weekends as it’s a nice place and staff are very friendly

Our meal was very nice, an Italian lamb, scampi and chips and a hunters chicken with salad. The salad would have been better with cucumber with the tomato and lettuce. As for the desserts, husband asked for apple pie and custard which he got. I asked for one mango yoghurt. When asked which one I said the one with two scoops. We ended up getting and being billed for apple pie and two of those - Mam had one rather than take it back, it was also her turn to pay this week. The waitress looked new to the job, could do with a bit more practice. Looking at answer from owner it shows what kind of people opened this place as he or she can't even spell correctly. I suggest using a spell check in future.

I took the family(10ppl) for a meal here and wasn't expecting the food to be as good as it was, it was actually one of the nicest pub meals I have had I ordered first round of drinks at the bar, there was about 2people waiting to be served before me, staff need to notice who's next in que, as someone came in after me and jumped ahead of us(could have been a friend of the server), but nevertheless I got served I ordered the food via the app which was easy enough to use Didn't have to wait long for the food, very good service and polite waitress The food was absolutely lovely, everyone enjoyed their meal Nice friendly staff Good atmosphere Highly recommend We will be back

Good local pub, plenty of choice, food is very popular and children allowed in until 9pm. Lot's of tv's to watch sports. Staff are polite and professional. Friendly pub would recommend a visit.

Went In at 4:30. Bar staff were fantastic. Ordered mixed grill with rare steak. Chicken, gammon and sausage cooked OK, decent. Rare steak was way overcooked (well done), onions, mushrooms and chips underdone. The menu change is not great either.

Good food but had to wait quite a while for our food although the pub was not busy.

We did manage to be in the pub when manay people had finished work in thr bar area so it was loud. But good atmosphere.

Jean and carmen were absolutely amazing in terms of making sure we had everything we needed and making the birthday we were celebrating that much better. Michelle in the kitchen made sure all the food was amazing.

I booked the conservatory for my husband's 60th surprise party. The staff were amazing. Everything was done to perfection. Everyone at the party praised the lovely buffet. I couldn't have wished for a better night. A good time was had by all.

Staff and food and drink were spot on

Staff were amazing with us. We have had a hard and stressful day with car breakdowns, missed ferries and improvised repairs. What we needed was a little hospitality and we found here was far beyond that. A smile to welcome, football on the telly, and a nice cold pint has completely rejuvenated us and allowed us to look forward to our adventure with hope. Amazing what a little comfort and atmosphere can do!

Staff we nice and polite, I'd say this was more an upbeat local bar. Food was pretty bland and expensive for what you got we would have given it a 3/5 overall but dropped to a two when my 3 year old daughter told us her corn on the cob was cold - when we checked we could see it was actually still frozen, we asked for it to be sorted they must have microwaved the same piece for a minute and sent it back out with the poor kids teeth marks still in the corn. Also they forgot to bring out her pudding, we had to go and ask them about 40 mins after her lunch. *I can see the value has replied below - we were only visiting for the weekend to see family - their feedback is that it's usually brilliant food and they are regulars there, so there is no need for us to call or expect any thong from you and in the staffs defence it was very busy that night with birthday parties etc, so we can see how things get overlooked but they were still worth mentioning on the review. Nice meal, l friendly staff in comfortable newly refurbished surroundings

Food that was ordered together didn't come out together. One of our party waited ages and ice cream was melted by the time it was brought out. Plates only cleared from half the table and left there when deserts were served. I won't go back.

Went in with 4 grandchildren . Food came my chicken burger was shocking. The macaroni cheese must have came out a tin. My grandson steak was fatty. We had puddings that did not reflect on the description. I spent 90 pounds which i expected to ( not for poor food) wont be aranging to go back . Dont go expecting decent food .

Cracking pub, cracking staff and amazing food. We travel from blyth just to come here. Best local pub I’ve ever been to.

My son ordered steak when it came it was blue , he does like rare but thiz wasn't cooked, it was took back 2 times to be cooked more ,still not changed was blue At the finished we asked the girl to take it away , no offer of a free drink or dessert or money back , waste of money , Disappointed isn't the word

Drove past and saw they had a new menu so decided to pop down for tea, I had the chicken tandoori skewers and they were absolutely lovely, the rest of the family had enjoyed the meal aswell. Always a good atmosphere when we have been and nice to see a change to the menu.

It’s rare when a new menu comes out that you get more! This was the big breakfast I got this morning, truly sorted me out!

Went for lunch and to check out the new menu ,was not disappointed,we were served fairly quickly at the bar ,couldn't fault the service from the start to the end , the food was delivered to our table in a reasonable amount of time , we ordered the chicken feast and the boss burger ,the food was very well presented and tasted even better, definitely return soon .

Ordered 2 bacon n egg sandwiches with 2 sides of beans.my sandwich was undercooked,egg(very gloopy)with a soggy bun and undercooked bacon.our beans never turned up so I approached the bar staff to get a refund and to be told my beans hadn't been ordered yet I got charged £10.54........this does not tally with the price on the menu.its a shame we've used this place for years but one too many mistakes for me.i did attempt again to clear this problem up but standing waiting at an empty bar with no staff around to clear the refund up was beyond a joke

Since this pub was refurbished the food coming out from the kitchen has been rubbish. Below standard and over cooked.

Came here today to celebrate my mother in laws birthday as we had already reserved our table we waited to get shown our table.As there didn't seem to be anyone available after a 20 minute wait my husband finally found our table.We ordered our food and drinks online we were there for 2pm didn't get our drinks until 15 minutes later than were told our meal would be 30 minute late as we had already paid we had no choice but to do that. It came actually 40 minute later I told the woman it was disgusting waiting this long she said that there was only her and someone else on hand so obviously need more staff,although the food was nice when my husband asked how long the delay would be on the dessert she said 45 minutes!!! We just left after that your service is appalling and I won't ever eat at this place again!!

Booked a table for 2 o'clock. Arrived five minutes before. After waiting for over 15 minutes i wandered off to find the table I had reserved. The app was slow finally ordered food at twenty five past two. Then I was Informed that there was a half hour delay. When at ten past three we finally got our food, I asked if we ordered pudding how long it would be and was told it would take forty-five minutes.I decided not bother. Very disappointed with the service i think it takes the mick that when you pay on the app the first thing it asks is what size tip you were giving. Left feeling very unsatisfied will not be going back. This establishment has certainly went downhill in the past year seems to be very under staffed.

There was a long delay waiting for our food. No maple syrup was supplied with the waffle meal and we had to remind the waitress of a missing meal. There was not enough staff on duty.

Food was not anywhere as nice as precious times. Mine came out later then the rest of the meals as I had to ask where it was, the chips were also half done too. The pint tasted old and flat, the nicest part of the food and drinks I had was the Pepsi my partner had

Popped in for lunch. Been redecorated since last time was in so it looked good. Enjoyed the meal and handy to pop in to B & M. Would go back there again. Would recommend it.

Greeted with real warmth and friendliness. Showed to our table. Went and ordered our meals. Came promptly. I had sizzling chicken fajitas and my husband had the hot dawg (which he said was amazing). My fajitas were fresh and delicious. Really enjoyed it.

When ordering was told food would b 30-40 minutes, came out after 35 minutes and was all nice and well cooked. Ordered sweet at same time as mains and had to wait about 20 more minutes was told they were short staffed AGAIN.

First time here, early on a Sunday afternoon and the place was less than half full, so was wondering why. We didn't need to worry. Meals turned up quickly and were excellent. We both had the standard mixed grill ( brilliant idea to serve it on a bed of sizzling onions ). So glad I didn't opt for the large option, would never have finished it. Will definitely be going back there soon.

What a fantastic team here, with a lovely atmosphere, great food and exceptional customer service. I came for drinks with a friend, which was lovely, quick and friendly service by Carmen and Jean. My children with multiple allergies came with my husband to have a meal later in the afternoon…we are often nervous when ordering them food but we have never had such unbelievably good service and care for our family than at The Powder Monkey…the chef Michelle personally came out to discuss once we had ordered (we hadn’t asked her to, it was because she cared so much). In 4years of going through this process, we’ve never felt safer and happier to enjoy a meal (which was DELICIOUS!) The food was served by Ellie, who was a delight as well. This is one of the nicest pubs we’ve ever been to and shall DEFINITELY be returning!!

My friend has a gluten allergy and usually feels uncomfortable coming out for food but the staff at the monkey walked her through all the steps and helped her safely chose a meal with their glass onion app- absolutely amazing!!! Then the same staff member came out with the cutlery and food and my friend said she felt really safe because of this. Thank you once again
