Usually call in for drinks when visiting Tynemouth, but decided to have food this time. Amazing..... We had the Salmon Teriyaki with crispy noodles and the lamb dish with rice. Quality exceptional. Great staff. Highly recommend. Lovely atmosphere. Can't wait to revisit.

Staying nearby stopped off for a swift drink, good service & clearly popular as quite busy, loved the bare stone walls, the flowery paper looked liked something from the 60ās lol

Looking for something simple for lunch and settled in here. Place was very quiet for lunchtime. Bar staff were friendly and orders for food and drink quickly taken. Sitting at the window watching the world go by on a beautiful sunny day. Had the Freeranger pie (chicken, ham, leak and egg) with mash, gravy and mushy peas. Perfect it his the spot for a tasty lunch for us.

We returned to The Grand last night after an extended lockdown for us, and from the minute we entered the lounge it was sheer bliss. The calm, sumptuous seating, overlooking the sea is just so wonderful for the soul. Fab service. Drank our aperitifs and just relaxed. We then decided to have a meal in the restaurant, again a beautiful room, a warm welcome from the staff, and another beautiful sea view. Food was delicious, every morsel, scallops beautifully cooked. Portion size perfect. Wine list very well chosen and the red we had was excellent. Such a blissful night.

Have reviewed 29 bar and Kitchen before and was not impressed then, We decided to give them a 2nd chance after a walk in Tyne mouth, On Tuesday afternoon. That really was a bad idea, there was no one in, that should of been a warning sigh, but the biggest problem and complaint I had was the bar man standing on the bar walking along it with shoes on and no covering on the bar, cleaning the brass glass rake with the glasses still in the rake, This should NEVER be done when the bar is open, if it needs cleaned then do it out of opening hours it is not a important part of the cleaning, ( I just hope they wash all these Glasses before they use them ), There was people coming in and walking back out and to be honest I donāt blame them, I wish we had. I also suspect the other reason that it is empty is because most people only come in the watch the sport on tv as the tv are permanently on sports channels, there is no atmosphere the staff are unfriendly, if fact it seems like an effort for them to serve you, this does not make an inviting and pleasant place to spend your money and time, I am sorry to say as all places need our support, But we will not be give them a third chance. Come on bar and Kitchen wake up you have the potential for a cosy enjoyable pub you just donāt seem to care, or is it the chain pub that owns this bar donāt care, and the staff have lost all intressed

First time visit in years Fish was small overcooked and tough around edges It looked like it had been cooked days before and just kept warm Chips were ok but again just warm Over £23 for two fish and one portion of chips with a small portion of mushy peas Will definitely not be back
