Amazing coffee. Must be a very expensive machine to make it taste that great. I will be back!

Stopped in here on a whim and was not disappointed. Loved the food menu and glad that it was more creative than the traditional same old menus that most of the cafes and pubs serve in this area. Service was wonderful and the food was amazing. Definitely will be back again when in the area.

This place has really gone down hill. This place used to be amazing for brunch and coffee but not the staff are just rude and couldn’t care less about the customers. The place really needs a good clean especially the toilets! Far nicer places in Tynemouth :)

We enjoyed a Sunday morning coffee and bacon sandwich, (which wasn't the big BLT) but still sufficient and delicious... lovely place to sit and watch the world pass by as you try to wake yourself up ready for the day! Good vibes 👍

Toilet broke could be but more cleaner

Great food and staff, stop off and have a bite to eat while enjoying the sights of Tynemouth.

My favourite place to have drinks in Tynemouth. Nice selection of different style cocktails - please bring back the solero cocktail on the specials! Lovely chill atmosphere and trendy decor.

Burger was really nice :) good serving of chips too

My family went for food and the steak burger was to die for. All made from scratch. Highly recommend

Amazing food, we went for brunch and for evening pizza. Incredible food and tasty coffees, plus the fresh OJ, wow! The pizza was 10/10 The only thing that lets this place down is one member of staff who was very rude, which seems to be a theme on reviews. It felt like they couldn’t be bothered to talk to us even. And they didn’t make one of our drinks (unsurprisingly the one we ordered for our child), didn’t inform us of high chair availability (we only realised when we went to the toilet at the end that they have them!) this member of staff said ‘they don’t do kids’ which is confusing considering the baby change station set up is amazing and has lots of spare nappies in different sizes and wipes. It’s a real shame when one person lets down an otherwise amazing place! We were all kids once 🙂

Ordered African eggs with red pepper and Turkish eggs: eggs and red pepper came on time and were nice however the Turkish eggs were forgotten and were served late. Unfortunately eggs weren’t cooked. The Turkish eggs were removed from the bill however when the tall male server was told about the raw eggs he proceeded to throw the card reader down which was quite embarrassing he was rude and didn’t apologies It’s a shame we have came here a fair few times for pizzas but won’t be returning.

Terrible customer service. We were in there for an hour for simple coffees. Our server was rude and not good at his job; didn’t process our order - which isn’t a problem. But it is when there is no apology and haste to rectify. Not good.

Food great ...wine list needs attention!

We really enjoyed our late lunch here. I had smoked trout with poached egg and hollandaise sauce(pictured) on top of a homemade crumpet and it was utterly delicious! They were out of a few dishes and teas which was a shame, so I would recommend going earlier rather than later! Looking forward to visiting again and trying their pizzas in the evening.

Tasty as toast, we went for breakfast and weren't disappointed. Great quality and great service. There was so many good many good things on the menu I will have to return to try a few more.

Mint, and they have 2x2 beer on. Only criticism is they don't take cash... But accept cash tips? bar staff will struggle to get any tips if you don't accept cash at the bar because they won't have change.

Hygiene in toilets leaves a lot to be desired need a good clean ,people cooking need a hair net very untidy when handling food .

Bought a loaf of bread from here, the bread is delicious but as others have mentioned this place is very overpriced (£5.50 a for loaf of bread when other similar places charge about £3). I'd love to try some of their items but unfortunately I can't justify the high cost. If you can though its probably worth a try.

I’m really disappointed to write this as I’ve used Toast as a regular venue for my customers and clients for a while now because the food is great, however I won’t be after today’s experience. I have a local movement and well-being business and run regular classes on our local beaches after which I take my clients to Toast for a post class social breakfast or consultations. This morning I took 10 of my own customers in to have a breakfast and all I can say is that I was disgusted with the poor customer service and care for the well-being of not only their customers, but mine too. After repeatedly asking if the door could be closed as everybody was complaining of how cold it was inside of the cafe, we were initially ignored by the staff who then went in to open a second door door directly behind where myself and party were sitting. I challenged this with the staff who claimed that they are instructed by the owner to have this open to ’ let air in’. Well the cafe was neither stuffy or warm and we had chose to sit inside rather than outside as a member of our group suffers from raynaud’s and is extremely uncomfortable in the cold. However health condition or not, I don’t believe that anybody should have to eat their breakfast uncomfortable because of the temp of the room or wear their coat indoors. I also challenged the rationale behind this and questioned their level of customer care, to which the member of staff shrugged their shoulders in disinterest. I have to say I found the whole situation professionally embarrassing as I’d brought my clients into support another local business, that I’d recommended and but ended up having to deal with a whole host of customer complaints about the venue. One of the women who is extremely well known in the corporate world and specialises in customer service couldn’t believe how everybody had been treated from a professional point of view. It’s safe to say I will no longer be supporting this business with my own and will be looking for a new venue to host meetings and post class socials from here on in.

Great coffee and pastries available in trendy environment. Our toastie was a generous size with plenty of high quality filling. Our Croissant was made in house and made to perfection. Good location and friendly staff too.

Very tasty and very nice service. A little too loud for my taste although not very crowded and the toilets could get more attention. Otherwise, always again 😍

- nice to try. Felt a bit expensive but hey-ho - can be a bit of a wait to get seated. - pastries are real good, but sell out quick. Loved the almond croissant. - smoked mackerel was lovely and the eggs were poached perfectly - the haggis was alright. Bit claggy. The egg was overcooked. Would not reorder.

We visited this hipster millennial cafe seemingly staffed by disaffected GenZ waiters. They didn't give us a drinks menu, but then couldn't answer questions about what drinks they served. Drinks menu finally received we ordered that but then had to convince someone to come take our food order. Getting to pay was just as difficult. The food was ok but massively overpriced for what it is, and the place was loud and noisy. Not good if you want to talk to the person you are with.

Food is excellent, but the organization of service, clearing tables, etc. Isn't very good. Hopefully, with some staff training it will improve.

Takes a little while for a coffee when it is busy however.... No need to worry just eat one of their many fantastic pastries ❤️

Went for pie and mash - really tasty. Also been for breakfast, morning pastries, savouries and everything is very good quality.

This is a fantastic place. You will be surprised. The quality of the food is great. The whole concept of having everything built around the toast was so innovative. The staff were very accommodating. We will be back.

Popped in on Saturday for a pastry and coffee. Great range of pastries, interior looks awesome, fast friendly service and very reasonably priced. Looking forward to going back to try one of the massive sandwiches!

Food is good but the service really lets it down, drinks service is especially slow to the point where food has been eaten before drinks have even arrived.

The food was very high quality - really delicious. But I thought it was quite pricey. I realise what they sell is artisan and I believe it is all cooked on the premises but £4.20 for a breakfast pastry is a bit steep. However as stated the food is really good and the staff were nice and friendly.

I haven't had such a good coffee in a long time. Cortado was exquisite! And the pastry they had? Sooo good. The almond croissant was delicious, same with the pecan bun. I'd totally go there weekly if only I lived in town

This place is very nice. The pastries are really really good. The coffee is the strongest I've had in a while, which I really liked. This sounds like it should be 5 stars. The only issue I have with this is the price. Yes you're getting quality dishes, although my salt beef toasted sando was exceptional rich and I couldn't manage it all without feeling a little queezy, but for the prices charged you can get just as good quality at a lot of other venues for less. I mean £3.95 for a almond pain au chocolat is crazy to me. Artisan bakery near my house does them for £2 and they just as good. If I'm in the area and I'm jonesing for a coffee and a croissant I'll probably stop in, but it would be grudgingly. Their toast hour in the morning sounds great though. But again, a lot of money to cook your own toast.

Nice little bakery / breakfast cafe Good coffee and an amazing haggis breakfast… definitely the best I’ve had south of the border 👌🏼 Staff were all friendly and the place was clean. It does get quite busy but I managed to claim a spot at the bar. I couldn’t leave without treating myself to a takeaway cinnamon roll for later 😋 This was the perfect follow up to a dip in the North Sea 🌊 …I’d happily recommend to anyone

First time trying toast just popped in for a coffee and was intrigued buy the menu so had to give it a try. Service was warm and friendly food was great and tasty coffee and apple juice was both good quality. Would highly recommend

Have been to Toast a few times recently and the food is great, cannot fault it. The breakfasts are so nice, you know the food is good when not one word was spoken while we were eating!! The bread and pastries that are baked on site are too irresistible not to buy and take home. The staff are a credit to the place, all very friendly and the service is great. Will definitely be back.

Came in for the kebab night on Saturday night. Not too busy, nice selection of drinks available. The food was incredibly tasty, had the Chicken Thigh kebab. Starters were delicious too, has a bakery attached too. Nice ambience, feel to the place, the staff are very friendly as well.

Called in because it looked inviting and quirky . The food was delicious unlike anything we have had before. If you like something different with everyday food don't miss this place

Fantastic experience! On Friday night we could order kebab course. We made own style kebab with lamb shoulder and grilled chicken. Rasberry mocktail was great! I highly recommend this restaurant 👍👍👍

We were really happy to find Toast. A really nice environment with high quality service and great food. Everything on the menu looked great and included some creative options and local produce. They have done such a good job with the building providing inside and outside options.

Great concept - toast your own! Open fronted with out sales of amazing bread pastries and sausage rolls. THEY MAKE THE MOST AMAZING RASPBERRY PRESERVE too!

Brilliant Place, with a Great Vibe....lovely Coffees & Pastries. They have their own Bakery, baked on site, Great Selection. They have a bar too & Provide a Lovely Menu of Food.....& toast your bread, with a toaster ( on each inside table) as you stated you table. Very Friendly Staff 🙂

What an experience and a great concept

Lovely little cafe, quirky with great tasting coffee and a menu that is a little different to your average place with a few fancier but not overly pretentious dishes. Nice to see local produce is centre stage too. Lovely staff and very relaxed atmosphere.

The food was absolutely delicious, and the premise was quirky and original. I'd never heard of a toast restaurant in my life until my group and I walked in out of sheer curiosity. The staff were very accommodating, and even gave us a few pitchers of water since it was a hot day. The only downside is that it is relatively expensive, though given the location that is understandable

If you're into brunchy Mediterranean/Middle-eastern flavours atop some seriously tasty homemade sourdough toast with a poached egg to boot then you'll love this place. They have a great deli style counter with an assortment pastries both sweet and savoury, as well as their famous sourdough loaves to take-away. It has a very chilled and inviting vibe, with bench seating indoors, and an open air decked area to sit and have a latte and watch the world go by. Totally worth a wander down for breakfast, brunch or a takeaway coffee and peach & vanilla Danish. Absolutely lush!

Food is average and overpriced 10-30% compared to similar places in the area. It took a good while for the breakafast to arrive (>25 min) considering we were just 5 people in total at the place. And to top all that not only they try to sneak a 20% tip by default in the bill but also if you buy any "take-away" pastries they also try to overcharge that 20% on top of the price as it was on the same bill. Waiter was quite nice and coffe was decent.

Absolutely incredible food and cocktails

Never been in yet so can't give proper review yet, however it had its music Blasting at 7.15 this morning ( Sunday). Which is annoying, maybe turn the volume down till 8am, would help the residents.

I had the cheese and pickled walnut grilled cheese and it was really good. The portion sizes are good as well. The service was quite slow though and we had to just go up and bring our drinks over ourselves as they were just sat there for ages. The people who work there are really nice though.

Brilliant cafe/bakery on Front Street, Tynemouth. Danish pastries are on another level!

Recently opened cafe on Front Street. The menu is a little uninspiring given the owners reputation. Bread is made in house, which is good. Dogs are allowed. I didn't enjoy this, as dogs were often level with the low tables when people were eating and looking over their food. I think they should stay outside. The entrance door is also annoying as it doesn't close properly and let's cold air in constantly. As such the café is very cold. For me, the place would be improved addressing the needs above. Passable but disappointing.

Great TOAST, love bringing the kids and the dogs here . Great staff and top nosh toasties . Bread is unreal ! Freshly baked on the floor . If you’re the in sociable kind and prefer to sit on your own I’d suggest a table on your own somewhere else ! :-) great to connect with others

New eatery / bar on Tynemouth Front Street. Great outside terrace for people watching. Coffee, brunch, evening meals and drinks so a good all rounder! Nice range of craft lagers on tap, haven't tried the main meals but the nduja pork sausage rolls are a taste sensation! 🐕 friendly too. Can be extremely busy but staff manage it well.

First visit to the new 'Toast' (3 adults) all tables taken but 5 seats at the bar, we asked the young waitress if ok to sit there, she said yes thats fine. We were looking at the new menu, which does look great, when she came back over and said sorry could you move to a table with other guests because the manager is sitting on the end (Poor girl was so embarrased). There was no manager there but there was a laptop behind me (isn't it easier to move a laptop rather than 3 customers and why have 5 stools if only 1 can be used). We were gobsmacked, we looked at other tables where others were sitting and thought it would be a tight squeeze three of us on the end of someone elses table and also because of these uncertain times it didn't feel appropriate to invade another families space. So needless to say we left and 'Dil and Bear' got our custom. Thankyou 'Toast' brilliant customer service skills.

Lovely friendly staff. Food was delicious! Would defo order the salt beef focaccia again! Their house IPA also VERY nice. Four of us left there very happy and satisfied for under £50.

Beautiful new venue in Tynemouth, some fantastic craft beers on offer. We both had the fresh pasta on the evening menu and it was delicious. Connor our waiter was very friendly and informative.

Poor first impression of this new venue in Tynemouth. Myself and friends went there on Friday 25th March. There was no lager available, so no a good start for me. My mates tried the fraught beer, which they did not enjoy at all. No bottled lager was stocked, nor any bottled beer, just cans! We won’t be in a hurry to go back. It was formerly called Coast and Kitchen and it was a great venue

Lovely place, with some great craft beers in the evening and some nice breakfast too. Really cool inside and love the idea of toasters on the table with unlimited toast.

Brilliant new addition to Tynemouth. Just what the village needed. Excellent quality bakes, vibrant deco, canny staff.
