This restaurant boasts beautiful views of Whitley bay sea front. I had high expectations from reading reviews and looking through photos. For starter I had the soup which was described as having mussels scallops and prawns. Now this must be a typo because what was served can only be described as tinned soup with one tiny prawn, one tiny mussel and I couldn’t find any scallops until the last few spoon fulls but I kid you not it was the tiniest scallop know to man kind! So disappointing. The starter is normally my favourite part of a meal but not today. It was almost as if the chef was playing a joke on me. The lack of seafood was laughable and frankly embarrassing. I’d probably take the dish off the menu or at least describe it correctly to avoid others from being disappointed. I understand that seafood is expensive I would sooner pay a supplement on the set menu than serve one sad mussel, scallop and prawn. On a separate note the one mussel I had was overly fishy and tasted a little sour. It was rancid, I hope I’m not ill tomorrow. Not a great start 1910! My partner ordered a twice baked cheddar soufflé which was divine! We both opted for the confit shoulder of lamb roast dinner. 10 out of 10! The meat was delicious and tender, the potatoes were creamy and seasoned well. The gravy was the show stopper. It was rich with depth of flavour that filled my mouth with joy and the cauliflower cheese was one of the best I’ve tasted. Service was standard. Will I go back? Definitely to order the soufflé and the lamb, This restaurant describes its self as a steak and seafood restaurant and from my experience the seafood side leaves a lot to be desired.

We were there for the festive menu. We first had a champagne in the bar. In the restaurant we were welcomed by Ryan and shown to our table. Although it was 3 courses we opted for 2. Our main turkey dish was well presented the turkey was very tasty as were the veg and pigs in blanket. We drank a glass of merlot with the main. For dessert my wife chose the Christmas pudding and I had the ice-cream and sorbet. The service was very good

We have visited many times before and never disappointed and this was the same. The service is great from the drinks in champagne bar before and after to the service in the restaurant. Mr Blake and his staff are great. Food also good. Get loads of prawns with the starter and mains and desserts great too. The views over the seafront are fantastic.

We live in Whitley Bay and when one of my wife’s cousins came to visit us , we wanted to make sure we showed off our lovely hometown to its best. It was a no brainier to book a table at 1910 for dinner one Friday evening. A great night isn’t just about the meal for me. It starts when you arrive at the Dome, when you see the sea and the coastline and when you enter the building and hear the pianist playing. It gets better when you go upstairs and enter the bar and see the view. Through to the restaurant and it’s better again with a table in the window looking out towards the lighthouse. Staff were excellent. Service was very welcoming and (having visited before), I can say there’s been a big step up in this respect. Well done. We had the early evening menu. It’s great value and no compromise on quality. Wines were reasonable and at under £9 for a glass of champagne, you can treat yourself. On our previous visit, the food exceeded our expectations and it did so again this time with one small exception. My sea bream was terrific but my wife thought the steak tasty but on the tough side. A shame as the rest of the meal was a joy. A couple of notes if you plan to visit - it’s only open for dinner at weekends and you can’t reserve a window table. Whilst every table has a view, not every diner at every table does so just be aware. Our bill for three diners was great value - we’ve paid the same just for two in many places. A leisurely 2 hour dinner was topped off when staff all wished us goodnight as we left - and it seemed very genuine. Highly recommended.

First time here but certainly won’t be our last. It has the be one of the best meals we’ve had eating out. It’s amazing what’s on your doorstep as we live in Durham. My wife & I opted for the fillet steak which was gorgeous. Only a slight criticism is the chips believe it or not, could do with triple cooked ones like most restaurants or even go for fries if you’re not keen but I wouldn’t mark them down on chips as it’s an individual thing isn’t it. Others may love them. Our main server was Ryan who was professional from start to finish along with the other staff. Drinks in the bar area were great before hand & again staff are polite & always willing to help with anything. See you again soon 1910.

Wow, what a fabulous restaurant, with a beautiful sea view, lovely friendly staff and just the place for a very special evening. The only down side for me is that parking is a pain although it does have a car-park attached so other than that one gripe, a thoroughly enjoyable experience. As we were guests of our friend I can't comment on value for money but we enjoyed the evening so much so that my wife chose 1910 Steak and Seafood for her 79th birthday treat. I had the fish soup to start, followed by the half-lobster thermidor and finished with cheese and biscuits. My wife had the soufflé to start, the roast north sea cod and fished with the apple and hazelnut tart. We all had a delicious "amuse bouche" before our starters and an equally enjoyable palate cleanser before our desserts. We had a really lovely meal and will return. but only for special occasions, otherwise it won't special!

I took my parents and my fiancée out here for dinner, and I am glad we made that choice. The venue is spotless with a great view over the links and the beach. The staff are all very well trained, and know how to do their job well - a massive pleasure to be waited on professionally and pleasantly. The food and drink are of very high quality, and the menu is extensive. We opted for the three course dinner at £31 each, and each dish was beautifully prepared and presented. The portions were good - just enough to fill you but not leave you bloated. The restaurant is nice and quiet - no shouting over loud music, and the whole ambience and setting was perfect for us. I would say we got very good value for money - not the cheapest place I have dined, but certainly the best run, with the best food and drink.

Our third visit in last few years. Only interrupted by lockdown. The service is exceptonal. Friendly but professional. It feels homely and special at the same time. Food was excellent. Wine menu is good and ranges from reasonable to classy. Views are both relaxing and inspiring. After a three course meal which included perfectly cooked steak and an indulgent lobster thermidor, all preceeded by plump Lindesfarne oysters and interludes of amuse bouche and predesert, it is lovely to just sit and listen to the pianist in Spanish City. Thank you all for a consistently high standard.

We visited as a treat for the family and thought the setting was superb. The service we received was very good and the 2 members of staff looking after us were charming.

Four of us ate here on a Saturday evening to celebrate a birthday, the meal was so lovely. The staff were attentive and friendly, the food was delicious and the views beautiful. The steaks were perfectly cooked and the scallop starter was very tasty. We shared desserts as we were too full to manage one each, but they were just as good as the starters and mains! Thankyou 1910 for a lovely meal - we'll be back!

1910 is beautifully situated with a fantastic view across the bay. That's where the positives stopped for me. The food was mediocre and over priced - I had Queenie Scallops and Lobster Risotto. There wasn't altogether even one scallop to be found. The minute pieces were dotted around the dish smothered in herby breadcrumbs, most expensive breadcrumbs at £12:50. The risotto was okay, 3 stars for taste and 4 stars for texture but certainly not worth £22. I suppose there must have been shreds of lobster within. One of our party had pork, looked good, and apparently it was quite tasty. If prices and pretensions were dropped, this restaurant may be recommendable. Next time, I would suggest having a drink or two in the bar next door on the same level, to enjoy the view, and eat somewhere else.

Very quiet on night we attended. Fabulous view over the sea and towards St Mary’s lighthouse. Ryan was very knowledgable and attentive. Food was excellent and would definitely come back again.

Just been to 1910 for afternoon tea. What a treat. Restaurant is besutifully set out with truly amazing views. The food is delicious. Good variety. The staff are brilliant and they pack up anything uneaten to take home which is a good idea as you get so much. Lovely treat and highly recommended.

Tried this place for the first time. Absolutely beautiful. The food was some of the best I have had and the view across the bay was a treat. All the staff were lovely. It will be on our definite return list. Some people have commented on price. It is expensive but then you do get what you pay for.

Arrived at the restaurant, had to walk through the champagne bar which was slightly confusing, quite surprised in the sized the restaurant, about 10-12 tables, so booking is a must. Decor is beautiful(clean and modern) as is the view, right across the bay to the lighthouse. We were escorted to our table by a friendly member of staff, table nicely presented with plush seating. Unfortunately on sitting down I noticed a considerable draught. I was unsure if it was from an air con unit or the large window above or vents in the floor. The staff made a concerted effort in trying to stop this. Unfortunately nothing changed it and I had to sit with my jacket on all through our visit. We decided to go for their set menu, there was a nice choice of dishes. I chose the white onion veloute to start which was delicious, hand made dinner rolls also accompanied this, with a choice of butter one of which was a whipped beef dripping, all delicious. I then chose chicken with pomme puree, chicken was slightly salty but the potato was amazing. Dessert was mango and passion fruit cheese cake with ice cream, this again was delicious, no faults. Presentation on all dishes was beautiful. Value for money, slightly on the pricey side if you pick a la carte, set menu worth while. So to conclude, well worth a visit and I will definitely be returning to try other dishes and Sunday lunch.
