The View in North Tyneside

The staff need training on how to serve, be polite, and generally treat customers. We've eaten here twice recently, hoping there would be better servers the second time - we were wrong. A simple dietary request was met with hostility, confusion, and rudeness. Be aware that there is half an hour when they don't serve breakfast and they don't serve lunch - this is not clear anywhere. The View used to be so well ran but it seems the focus is on their new venture now and they aren't interested in hiring good staff. Huge disappointment. The food is fine and the view is wonderful, but you may as well go to an alternative local cafe for good food and better service, followed by a walk on the beach.

Visited yesterday with my wife and son, service was top notch from Helen, will 100% be back. Fantastic view, brilliant service, breakfast was brilliant

What a wonderful setting, overlooking the beach. We were seated quickly and arguably at the best table in the restaurant, which we were very lucky to get, as you can't reserve window seats. The service was very friendly and quick. The food was good-sized portions and very tasty. The wine by the bottle was reasonably priced, too. We will be back again very soon!

Amazing place..... had the full English which was very nice....very busy but the staff went overboard to make sure we were happy... would highly recommend..... 😍

Would not recommend left after 30 minutes of not even being offered drinks or taken our orders thought we’d have a nice meal before visiting the aquarium for our daughters 1st birthday however wasn’t the case , no staff bothered to come over and ask for drinks or anything but still took everyone else’s order and we never got acknowledged

Walked out. Waited for ages after ordering a coffee and a tea. The place was not busy in any way. A great pity this place was so good.

Diana needs a pay rise!! I seen that on another post and truly believe this! I’m a General Manager and I know great service when I see it. Very pleasant and hard working she did not stop!!! Food and location stunning. Highly Recommend a visit

Nice place with great views. Food was OK but unfortunately the service was quite bad. We waited for ages after our meal to have the table cleared so we could order cake. It took so long I ended up just asking for the bill. Won't rush back I'm afraid as it wasn't even busy so no excuses for the bad service.

This is one of the most fantastic restaurants I’ve been to. I was traveling from Canada to visit family. They brought us here for brunch. Wow, was I surprised. The views are absolutely beautiful! I couldn’t take my eyes off of the beach and ocean. The food was perfect. I got a traditional English breakfast. It was cooked perfectly. If I ever make it back to Whitley Bay I’ll be heading here for my next meal.

We had a fabulous morning at The View and the main part of the experience was the attention put in by Jill, she has delivered excellent service combined with amazing communication skills dubbed with "yes we can attitude", food came fast and was delicious. She went above and beyond to deliver a bespoke experience which was unique. We'll be coming back for sure ;)

Absolutely amazing in every aspect...... I had the fish and chips and they were delicious.... the staff are so canny and nothings a problem for them.... and lastly the view.... one word.... stunning!!... 🤩

The food tasted like reheated frozen food from the supermarket and I spent the rest of the day in the toilet. We suspect it's the hamburger patties. Plus it's the service and views

Food is alright I mean it use to be way better. They should definitely bring back their Sunday dinners. I love to go here for a coffee as the "View" is just amazing!!!

Couldn't get seated in the restaurant so made do with take away, chips and gravy and a coffee. Once at the front of the queue, one girl serving while two 'cleaned' behind her. Took 10 minutes to get 2 portions of chips n gravy and coffees. Gravy not great and far too hot, like dangerous hot! Chips ok... expected better. Wouldn't return

Positives first: lovely view of Long Sands and friendly staff. Negatives: food was luke-warm, fries were cold and chewy, only one vegan choice (burger) and took an hour to arrive. Would not recommend.

Oddly I've only ever been here in the winter and sat outside when it's cold which isn't an issue because they have heaters in the beach hut booths. They are always busy but we have never had an issue getting a table and the food wait times are never too bad. The food is always well cooked and tasty and there is a wide selection of drinks. Most importantly the coffee is good. It's a great place to people watch. the staff despite being busy are always happy and friendly with a smile on their face. Definitely worth a visit.

As advertised. Pretty good breakfast, very nice staff and decent coffee. Seven of us for 11am Sunday brunch and they weren’t busy. Great view of the turbulent sea and coastline even on a cold wet day. Paid parking along the ramp frown to the beach. Would deffo come back.

Perfectly placed right by the sea. What a fabulous view! The staff were great, despite being rushed off their feet. We hadn't booked, but they still managed to find us a table. The food was nice, Shane they didn't have curry sauce on the menu! The only downside was that it was cold inside the restaurant. I ate with both of my coats on. It was freezing outside, but I would have expected heating of some sort inside.

This is an absolutely stunning cafe with the most amazing views. Definitely worth a visit for the views alone and I hope to come back for another visit next time I'm in the area

Came forndinnwr at The View, after visiting the aquarium for my sons 1st birthday. Staff here were great! Very kind and friendly with my son and even gave him a free birthday treat. Highly recommend

It's a really nice place to go for breakfast I just wish they had a scrambled egg option.

Lush food atmosphere was great nice and calm waitress was having a good joke with us as I'm a picky eater never the less I had chicken bites chips salad sweet chilli sauce and salad was defo 10/10 would recommend it also would recommend fish fingers beautiful they were aswell thaught they were large batterd sausages hahaha belgian hot chock with all the trimmings was lush aswell absolute belta scran and service every time

Service poor, waited 45mins for food awas and was disappointed at quality, fish finger sandwich, fish was strong and not local, wife’s mince and dumping seemed ok. Long wait was the problem, tables not cleared. Maybe staff shortages, won’t be going back

A lovely cafe restaurant with excellent views (hence the name) of the beach. Inside had a nice cosy feel to it. Outside on the terrace, you can take dogs. Again, it has a lovely view. Food was excellent with generous portions and great service. A really nice place to catch a view and get some great food and drink.

Sat outside with dog. Due to weather it was cold. So should ok had outside heaters and lights in huts as broken.

Lovely place but been disappointed with food twice now Pancakes looked amazing when they came but they weren’t Floffy, very flowery Pulled beef sandwich came stone cold, had to ask the waiter to heat it up, it just tastes sweet from the bbq sauce no other flavour

We called in for breakfast and got a table quickly. The staff were brilliant, so friendly. Love this place, the view of Longsands beach is just wonderful no matter what the weather. I had eggs Benedict which was perfect and my hubby full English and a mini one for my grandson. Food was lovely and I highly recommend giving this place a try.

This is a lovely little spot for a light bite and a coffee with an amazing “view” of the beach and sea! The food was lovely and the cakes were amazing along with a great selection of cakes!!! It’s definitely a must visit!!

First time, and not disappointed great view overlooking the sea and the best fish and chips I've had for a long time

I recently visited this lovely restaurant on the beach and had the most delicious prawn scampi and fish and chips I ever tasted. The light, crispy batter perfectly complemented the fish and the prawns and were both served alongside delicious chips and a zesty tartar sauce that elevated the flavour. Paired with the ocean view and a refreshing sea breeze it was a truly satisfying meal. Friendly and attentive staff. This spot is a must visit!

Stopped in with my 5 year old and was served by the lovely Mel. Food arrived quickly, was piping hot and very tasty. Good portion sizes too. There is no typical dessert menu, instead it's the cakes, cookies and scones etc that are in the counter. Would go again.

Incredible food & service. We all had fish n chips, and it is absolutely delicious. The portion sizes make it worth the price. The staff were very attentive, gracious, and kind. I brought in a group of seniors from a care home, and all 9 of them said they LOVED the experience. The facilities are clean, wheelchair accessible and the perfect place for every age to enjoy the seaside. We’ll definitely be back again. (And a special shout out to Melanie-thank you for taking such good care of our group. x)

Had afternoon tea we pre ordered two weeks in advance. We weee a group of 14 Waited an hour for the food which was not ready one order was vegetarian and was served with meat on the plate? Afternoon tea is supposed to be served with tea or coffee, we had to ask for tea which was served in mugs no milk or sugar provided and a teabag in the cupboard pot of tea, no teaspoon Sandwich had no butter just dry bread a a fatty piece of ham slapped on the bread Even tho we had all preordered nit a single item was ready, none of the food was put in order we had no clue who's food was on the tiered platters as it was all mixed up. I ordered roast meat if the day sandwich ended up with a dry ham sandwich l. Cakes need to be fresh but honestly could t eat it For £19.99 total rip off Not a first bad experience but after a year thought we would go back Service well it's basically non existent as shortage of staff and think they need some proper training ! Would love to hear from the owner maybe I can assist in offering quality service to customers! Fabulous place, the staff were excellent and helped with my dietary requirements. Set in a great location and open all year!! We had cakes and a drink and it was all really good.

Unfortunately had to send the 1st eggs Benedict back it was still raw. But the second one was perfect, nice sauce, not enough rocket salad for me tho. On the whole very nice. Excellent views from inside and the oudoor seating

Lovely views out across the sea. Staff were friendly. However I felt it was quite expensive and the quality of food did not match the cost, chips in particular quite dry and poor quality. Little in the way for craft beer fans, with just neck oil in a small can the best offering in this regard.

Food was cold and not tasty. Burger was dry. Food took a long time to arrive, and there were not alot of people in the restaurant. Staff was nice.

Called for breakfast, food and view to die for. Prebooked our table due to how busy it can get.

The food was lovely well priced ..the BBQ pulled pork loaded fries were outstanding!! Amazing view believe it or not even better when you saw the rain come over just spectacular!! Downside screaming kids....parents just ignoring it and the staff said nothing. Kids are kids but that was ridiculous! Staff couldn't hear themselves or us ordering I felt for them.

Great food and coffee with a stunning view over the beach. We popped in for takeout coffees before our walk along the coast, and spotted the fish and chips being served which looked absolutely beautiful. So decided to double back later to eat. Great choice! Well presented, well cooked and very tasty. Came with both mushy peas and tartar sauce on the plate. Light crispy batter and a very good portion size. Couldn't have asked for more. All staff were friendly despite being fairly busy, and the two coffees I had were perfect. We also took home some muffins (packed to take away in plastic cups, a genius move) which we thoroughly enjoyed too. I can't wait to come back!

Lovely relaxing cafe/restaurant with amazing views of beach and sea. Went for breakfast, which was outstanding. The bacon was cooked to perfection as I like my bacon crispy, and I got it crispy. This is one of the best places to come for breakfast. Staff are so friendly and helpful, and nothing is a problem. Lovely selection of cakes

Great location and amazing staff but food wasn’t anything special. Ordered a ‘steak burger’ and wasn’t asked how I’d like it done or anything came out as a pretty standard beef burger.

I hadn’t been inside this venue before so decided to give it a try with my family. We booked a table in advance and it took a little while to be seated. We ended up moving to a slightly bigger table, one of the wait staff snatched the cutlery up from the original table and threw it down on the new table without saying a word, it was very rude. We were told it was table service and someone would be with us shortly, it took half an hour for anyone to take our order and the woman who took the order was extremely unfriendly. A couple made the mistake of sitting at a table as they were tired of waiting for someone to sit them and the same woman wait staff loudly berated them and told them to get back to the sign that says wait to be seated. The food arrived cold, the poached eggs were hard boiled and when we sent them back the same woman was again very rude rolling her eyes and being abrupt. I’m not sure if she is potentially the owner as I’ve never experienced wait staff with such a poor attitude. The experience was very poor largely based around this woman’s awful attitude. So the food and drinks took almost an hour to arrive from when our reservation was, the service was appalling and overall it was just a terrible experience. The gentleman working the bar/ coffee area was polite and apologised for the food so we can’t fault him but whoever the woman was that was working that day she was rude, borderline aggressive and I saw many customers sharing looks and talking about how rude she was, it needs to be addressed. Would not recommend unless you’re just popping in for a pint.

We only went in to buy a plastic bucket for the beach but had to go up to the restaurant where we were not warmly greeted the staff were obviously under pressure and were not happy and I was glad we weren't staying longer

Had a table booked for Saturday gone and enjoyed The View . Lovely inside, with superb views over the sea and sands. We all had various sandwiches and a glass of wine. Very tasty, pleasant staff and sensible prices.

Best view you can get off Tynemouth beach.

Hard to go past a divine seafood lasagna served with a view like this. We were extremely happy with our lovely corner table, the food and the excellent service, particularly from Karlee. It’s also very good value. Highly recommend 👍

Had high hopes but unfortunately had a really disappointing experience. Booked for afternoon tea for an 80th birthday 2 months in advance and rang the week before to reconfirm the booking. Despite this, when we turned up on the day and after being sat down for half an hour before anyone came over - we were told afternoon tea wasn’t available because there were no scones. No one had called to notify us, and it was booked for a very special occasion. When we were reluctant to order from the main menu they somehow found scones “reserved for later” so after an hour our order was finally taken. We hadn’t even had drinks at this point. It took us over an hour and an half to get food and drinks which were average at best.

My sister treated us to lunch, the food was all freshly made and tasted good but Julie the staff member who attended to us was Fabulous and a great asset to the business her banter and sense of humour as she was serving us had us in stitches and just made our day and made the experience that much more special and welcoming deffo would go back again and again.The human touch speaks volumes for any business and if every business had a person like Julie I'm sure more and more customers would keep coming back she went above and beyond what good customer service is about,so Thank you Julie for being you and making our day your a 🌟☺️

Had breakfast at The View, sat in a window seat. The view out of the window was stunning. Staff were attentive and extremely friendly. Coffee was excellent and arrived quickly as did our pancake stack. Absolutely delicious - good quality bacon; plenty of maple syrup & nice touch with crunchy onion and micro herbs on top.

A nice cafe with a good view to the sea. The drink and cake were very good. However, the service was really slow in getting a table, got served and paid the bills even though we just ordered teas and cake. The toilet looks okay but smells really bad. The menu has quite good selections of gluten-free options. They have daily Gluten-free cake that you need to ask as they do not put it on display to avoid contamination, which is great.

Positives are the superb view even on a miserable day, and the dining space which is very nice (booths could be cleaner). Staff training/attitude/experience is lacking. Ordering without a menu is difficult… Being squeezed into a table is a pain, salt rubbed into wounds by waitress complaining to us that there wouldn’t be space for all the plates… it really was quite surreal. Food was disappointing. Fish was good but the batter fell apart. Underside was soaking with grease as were the undercooked chips (not many chips either). Mushy peas and tartar sauce were good. Strange there were no usual chip shop favourites like curry sauce, battered sausage etc. I’d consider coming back but would probably try somewhere else first.

Food was average, service was shocking. Some of the younger staff members were quite nice but this was overshadowed by the older woman serving us. Have enjoyed the view for years but can't see myself returning any time soon.

What is wrong with Leanne the waitress? Never been served by someone with such a terrible attitude.

I had a terrible experience when I had pre booked a table 3 weeks in advance and called once to pre order my food and then the day before to confirm. They seemed to have no idea about my table and the staff were extremely rude and the fish and chips were dry and low quality. Its a shame at the establishment is lovely but unfortunately I won't be returning or recommending.

This restaurant is well worth a visit. Very tasty sandwiches reasonably priced and our waitress Leanne was amazing!

Loved this place. Sat outside and the view was lovely. Bacon sandwich and chips were lovely. It's dog friendy outside and there are bowls of water for the dogs. It even sells dog ice cream

Food and view was amazing. Some very loud kids kinda spoiled our first time there but everything else was on point.

Slow service. Food is good - Once you get it, wait over 30 mins for a lost order. Latte has choc sprinkles which I hate. which also arrives cool. Great views in and out. Seating outdoor if with dogs, five shelters with heating otherwise in the open with cool seating and bowls of sandy water provided for your dogs. but once a big group arrives most of the chairs and tables get taken as no big tables for them. The sign says no smoking or vaping but we noticed people vaping in the shelters and smoking nearby. The staff did not correct them.

Just called in today for some lunch with family ordered the roast beef sandwich with chips and gravy food arrived just warm and had to send back to receive fresh chips, the roast beef was very poor and in my opinion should not have left the kitchen and not for human consumption very disappointing.We have used this place before and no problem it seems that the kitchen can’t cope when full and just send anything out regardless and hopefully it doesn’t come back . The owners need to address this problem I won’t be going back

First time visiting The View. Arranged to have lunch here with friends, did not disappoint! Absolutely lovely, it does not matter where you sit, you have panoramic views of longsands and out to sea, the food was delicious, good variety, nice size portions, service was excellent, staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We also opted for desserts after mains..wow is all I can say.. we were full to the gunnels 😁 We will be back again, hopefully sitting outside when the warmer weather arrives. If you are visiting, I would recommend booking. There are a few car parks nearby, which are pay by card at the machine or using the parking app. Please be aware they can get very busy, however it's a short walk to the restaurant.

Great spot for a bit of brekkie, we have the veggie breakfast and the eggs florentine, great coffee and service too. Would defo go back. The view on a sunny day was amazing, I’m sure it would be the same on most days.

Not the best experience, granted it was a bank holiday however we booked for afternoon tea 3 weeks ago as a birthday treat from my daughter. My daughter telephoned 24 hrs prior to give our order as per the email received. She was told she didn't need to preorder. On arrival it soon became apparent there had been some kind of mix up and we were ushered onto a table for 2 (there were 3 of us) and given the normal menu. We decided we would just order from the normal menu as we weren't prepared to pay £29.00+ each to be squashed onto a table. We had 2 drinks by the time the food arrived, which took 1 hour, fine with that as it was so busy. As tables were emptying we asked if we could be moved to a bigger table and were told 'no' as they were booked. I'm sorry but so were we booked.... One of the staff clearing a table asked if everything was ok, I said no as we had booked 3 weeks ago and were stuck on a small table and she said she would speak to the manager. The manager explained they had a problem with the booking system and tables had been double booked. She offered to pull another table as it was pointless moving because we were nearly finished eating. We were given a slice of cake of our choice as an apology. I certainly wouldn't be using their booking system if you are booking for a special occasion as you will be sadly disappointed.

Food looks great and the staff are lovely but easily the worst pint of Guinness I’ve ever had

Staff were very friendly and helpful. I came with my mother and we asked for ‘small’ fish and chips each but it wasn’t small. The meal was excellent except that it was too big. Resulting in a lot of wasted food. I would prefer a smaller meal option - I don’t know if there was one. I had a peach Melba for desert and it was nice but slightly disappointing. There was only a tiny slather of peach. That said, we enjoyed our meal and it won’t stop us returning.

Fabulous views of the sea and beach through huge floor to ceiling windows. Service was more than we expected given how busy the restaurant was. Food is traditional pub food (fish and chips of course). Good decor and clean.

Lovely place for lunch with friends. Food is good, staff are friendly. There can be long waits for food to arrive and it can feel a little cool inside, but that's to be expected with so much glass.

We visited on a Friday morning and it was weirdly very quiet! The views are amazing, food was good although it did take a while to arrive and service was very prompt and friendly, couldn't fault it! It was our first time but we'll definitely return again!!

You should definitely come here, just for the views, it's an amazing cafe with incredible views across a beautiful beach. Food is good but not brilliant. The waffles are pre-made, and avoid the breakfast ciabatta. The large breakfast is good. Don't get me wrong, the food is good! Just a tiny bit off top notch. Service was slow because they're busy. BUT this is such an amazing place. You should definitely come.

I cannot recommend highly enough. After a disaster Mothers Day morning with with weather and Sat Nav sending us to wrong place, our original plans were ruined. We tried the View as we have been several times before and its always been great, but we did think it would be fully booked. They were extremely busy, with the place being full of Mothers day bookings, but they still managed to squeeze us in. The food was amazing, but the staff and the service were second to none. They were so good with our two kids, they were so lovely and reassuring whilst we waited for a table. A special mention to Jill who was so lovely to us, getting us sorted, and then came to check on us at the end of our meal too. I cannot thank them enough for salvaging what would have been a disaster Mothers Day morning for us. Thank You!
