The best restaurants in County Durham North East

This is our second visit for eats here in the last few weeks. The first time we were impresses, this time we were more impressed. The food is absolutely delicious and portions huge. You do not have to wait long for your food to arrive. The surroundings are pleasant and spotless and the staff are fantastic. TBH it's in our opinion the best place in Aycliffe to eat out. We would recommend to anyone and we will certainly be back. Fish and chips are awesome as is the parmo.

We have been to the Fox & Hounds many times over the last few years and once again we found it to be absolutely fantastic with a great range of lovely food - this was one of the last times that we managed to get away with our boxer dog as she died suddenly in July but we will definitely be back again In May 2024 with hopefully a new boxer puppy. We returned in May 2024 with Ruby our new boxer and as ever the food and beer were fantastic.

I went to Jumping Bean last week in a group of 4 and we ordered the Nachos, Currywurst Hot Dog, Stacked Burger and Texas Burger. All mains were delicious and everything was devoured in no time, even by my sceptical meat-eating friends who were very pleasantly surprised. We will definitely be returning for some more moreish vegan fast food!

We heard this cafe had been taken over by Clarendons in Barnard Castle so decided to see how much had changed. Happy to say that, as far as we can see, nothing had changed; it was as good as ever. We both had the Ploughmans which were platters and featured dressed salad, two types of cheese, quality ham, egg, caramelised onions, lovely bread and butter and house made coleslaw. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole meal which was very fresh. There is a Specials Board next to where you order. They are open Wednesday to Sunday until the end of October then will close for the winter. We will certainly return.

Sadly, this place never has any real ales that's not an IPA or Gold. Their ales are lighter than their lagers! They don't even offer any other darker ales in bottles?? 🤦‍♂️ This is now my third attempt to purchase a "bitter-type" ale from this establishment ... With no success... 😳😠 If you like fruity IPA's, you'll have something on offer here. If you're looking for a proper' bitter', best to avoid the place and grab a pint outside of the station.

Been going regularly (maybe a bit too regularly) ever since I moved to the area. Partly down to the people – it’s always nice when your local has staff who are unfailingly cheerful.

Love the new gaff!! Another exceptional visit to Manzo. The Sunday roasts were cooked to perfection and just the right portion size to also be able to enjoy a dessert, homemade tiramisu which was delicious. Cocktails were so good too. But the best bit was Beverly and team who gave us a warm welcome and remembered us after our first visit 18 months ago!! We'll be back.....just wish we were closer.

Beautiful meal - Steak night. Honestly one of the best cooked steaks I've had in a long time. All the food looked lovely, the woman serving was really friendly,excellent service. We need pubs like this to be in our communities. 5 stars.

Great restaurant, we have been searching for a quality, friendly restaurant for a while since the ones in nearby Durham have gone downhill. Plentiful food and of a high quality, staff were great and we will definitely be back and highly recommend this restaurant

2nd time here Myself and my mam and dad went for Sunday lunch and I have to say that it was absolutely outstanding. Sue is very friendly and her staff are also brilliant. The food was outstanding tasty and the puddings are also amazing. Would highly recommend it to anyone!

Very Nice Curry From Here Just Got The Simple But Lovley Chicken Korma + Mushroom Pilau Rice And I Enjoyed It A Lot The Restaurant Has A Very Modern Look With A Very Handy Takeaway Counter At The Entrance, There Is Loads Of Seating Area And Its Very Clean, The Smells When You Walk In Are Amazing 👌 Plenty Of Parking Outside I Would Highly Recommend This Place, I Will Definitely Be Back 10/10
