The best restaurants in Chester-le-Street West Central County Durham North East

This pub now named The Queens Head was formerly known as The Tap and Spile and is located on the front street. This is a mainly drink focussed pub although it does sell nibbles. It is dog friendly and is often populated with such. The pub is split in two by a corridor, with bar areas on one side and the lounge and games room on the other. To the external rear is a smoking area. This review took place over three visits for continuity due to the first two visits (a Tuesday and a Friday night), which saw the games room/lounge occupied with unsupervised young teens/school children. The bar area is welcoming but can get loud as tv's play sports and guests talk over this. The bar area could do with some tlc in areas as could some of the décor and doors. The toilets however are a good standard. A price list (with tying error) is enclosed for you comparison.

My son and his friends (aged 14) went to Fabio’s on Tuesday for a special treat. As they are teenagers and don’t have much money, they made sure that they arrived for ‘Happy Hour’. However, when they proceeded to order, they were told that they were 1 minute late for Happy Hour and had to pay full price!!!! Taking advantage of teenagers is not a good look! They will not be returning and neither will I. There are lots of alternative restaurants in Chester le street that value young people and their custom. Very poor behavior from Fabio’s.

Walked out twice recently, group of 4, staff only served people in front of them instead of noticing other people waiting at the 2 other sides of the bar.

Reserved a private function room after my mums funeral.The staff were excellent and very helpful. The buffet was also excellent. I Could not fault a thing. Thank you

Wow! Where do I start. Food is excellent and friendly staff. Probably the best Indian food around Kildare. I used to be a fan of another Indian restaurant which I won’t name but this wipes the floor with most. When you ask for a spicy curry that’s what you get. Exactly what it says on the tin. This will be my forever spot for getting Indian food.

First time ordering at figaros so we were a little apprehensive especially being next door to bridge end. However all I can say is it's the best pizza we have had anywhere! We ordered a 14" vegetarian with jalapenos. Quality and taste was incomparable to other places we have tried. We also ordered a portion of kebab meat which was very good (same as bridge end from what we could taste) can't recommend enough! We will certainly be ordering again. Possibly our new favourite 🙈

Unfortunately I stopped using this pub because of the poor quality of food a couple of years ago. The management have changed so I thought we’d give it a go. The atmosphere is better and I must say the quality of the food has improved immensely, I had a had a Parma and boy was it good, it can with salad and some of the best chips I have ever had. Nothing frozen just fresh, tasty and wholesome food.

Been coming here for 7 year the food is unbelievable but the prices have went up far to much I used to order 4 to 5 times a week but the munch box alone has went fro 11.50 to 15 pound and 6 pound for two little tubs of curry sauce feels excessive

Bar area nice . Hotel rooms very shabby and tired. Booked for a double , ended up with a twin. Room rates charged more than advertised on booking.com. Breakfast value for money , 2 for £10 Free parking .

Best in the area. Great portion sizes. Originally started to use the Welcome Inn when we found out the previous owners of the Evergreen at Fram were here, they have since retired but the food is still great. Recommended

Well after waiting 40 mins after the proposed delivery time and many calls to find out what was the hold up I decided to drive to the restaurant seen as they weren’t taking calls I was laughed at basically, horrible place won’t be ordering again and delivery is always 30-40 mins later than states. Delivery driver did eventually turn up whist I was at the restaurant and he’d been given the order 5 mins before delivery. Laugh all you want I hope people see what a disgusting place you are and attitude towards customers 😡
