Popped in at lunchtime in the hope of some Chinese food. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and the freshly cooked food was excellent - tasty and a decent sized portion.

Ordered over phone food ready on time. Nice fresh food. Chip shop chips.

Best Chippy in the North East. The customer service is on top, the food is lovely. The prices are reasonable. Absolutely loved my visit. They took seconds to get my food ready. Great service.

Got food poisoning from their "chilli burger". The pictures look amazing outside the shop, but looks nothing like it. Literally hot sauce on a frozen burger patty.

Very nice takeaway reasonable price, lasted two days, quick service.

First off, delivery time was halved which was brilliant. Ordered the salt & pepper chicken which was soft and succulent, loaded with onions and chillis, fantastic. Also had the salt & pepper chips, proper chippy chips that were well seasoned and again, loads of chillies. Last up was Singapore fried rice. The spicing was more Malaysian than the normal madras curry powder flavour you get in most places. So, there was an initial hit of spice, but then it mellowed in to a more fragrant and aromatic dish. Top banana!

Chicken in lemon sauce, some chicken had weird taste and sauce was very thick, tried to thin down by adding hot water but did not mix together. Chicken fried rice, some chicken tasted funny and very chewy. We were both very disappointed, not sure what has happened recently because not that long ago it was our favourite eating place and take away, not now.

Awful! The guy serving me took my money before I ordered and then told me that the potatoes’ sugar were affecting the fryer and that why they turned out all brown. He assured me that they would taste okay. They tasted disgusting as you can imagine. No good chippies in Chester Le Street!😔

Love this place - been ordering for a treat for us at Mobile Elements. Food quality is always good, portion sizes big and tastes fresh. Highly recommend :)

After going vegan a couple of years ago we have struggled to find an Asian takeaway in our area. We found this place on the 'happy cow' app. Staff always friendly and do their best to accommodate dietary needs. Would be amazing if curry sauce could be offered in the future, and we did prefer the previous vegetarian chicken supplies before the switch. Still 5 stars because we really appreciate being included on the menu!

Been a couple of times now ribs are unreal fall of the bone. Chicken fried rice was perfect and the roast duck chow mein was next level definitely my new regular place just wish chop suey rolls where on the menu 😊

First time we had food from here it was great we just moved here and we we’re looking for a good takeaway. Second week not so good , we are going to try tonight if not the way it was first time round will be looking for new takeaway. Hope not because service is 100% But food must be good all the time will let you know later tonight if it’s still our takeaway.

Had some chips to take away and they were pretty good.

My wife and I called into what we thought was Clem's chippy yesterday afternoon, only to find it is now called Little Fat Buddha. Serving English and Asian cuisine. We decided to sit in and ordered Special Satay, fried rice and chips. Well, I cannot complement the chef enough. The flavour in the dish was sublime and cooked to perfection. The staff were really friendly, one of which was the chef's wife and co-owner. They helped to make the whole experience very enjoyable, so much so that I returned on the evening to pickup a takeaway. Chinese food is certainly a favourite of mine, I can honestly say that the dishes we ordered were definitely the tastiest and certainly as good if not better than restaurants / takeaways in Stowell street. Incidentally, there was a couple on the adjacent table eating fish and chips and in their words they said "the fish was lovely" they also commented on the large portion size. I have no hesitation of recommending The Little Fat Buddah and certainly can't wait for my next trip to my now favourite Chinese restaurant/takeaway.

Clean and tidy dining environment, enthusiastic service staff, and huge portions of food!

We moved to Chester Le Street just over a year ago and struggled to find a decent chippy. We found this one, Little Fat Buddha (formerly Clems) the Fish and Chips are beautifully cooked and fresh. One of the best. Highly recommend the food, and the staff are great. We wouldn’t go anywhere else now!

Burnt scampi. Why? Should never have been sent out.

Really bad food, used to love clems but just been in today and the fish were cooked terribly. Small fish had more bounce then a rubber ball, large fish needed a chisle to break through the batter. Very disappointed

Beefburger in a bun with chips was very nice. Plenty of chips even in a small bag. Will definitely be going back.

Although made to order the fish was uncooked and batter raw and soggy. Chips weren't properly fried and raw in the middle. All served by an impersonal assistant. Won't be going there again

We went Thursday 1st July 2021 and was very disappointed chip's were still raw and fish wasn't up to normal standard have since heard its got new owners they're going to have to do better

Had take away fish, chips and curry sauce. All cooked perfect, the fish was a good size and very tasty. Staff were friendly and polite. Well done in these trying times.

Nice clean Fish Shop in the heart of Front Street, Chester-le-Street. Tasty fish & chips. Social distancing is tight when queueing as the shop is quite narrow. Helpful friendly staff. Payment is cash only & has been for a long time, their sign says they need a new card machine.

Went in mid October. It was quiet so I had to wait for my fish.. not a problem...staff were lovely to talk to. The negatives the place stank from old oil. It appears as if they were using oil well past its used date. Got fish n chips twice.. what a huge disappointment. Chips were stringy, thin and rubbery. The fish was small and covered in grease. By the time I got them home all of the paper was soaked in oil/grease. The fish batter was soaked and not crunchy.. had to bin it. Change your oil! Won't go back again.. on a side note I live near spenny and theirs are lovely

Good value for your money. Fish and chips were made fresh along with a cheese patty and a corn beef one. Would recommend a visit if your feeling peckish

If you want great tasting fish and chips then this is the place to go. No pun intended. They have large and small portions of fish and chips so if you have someone who isn't a big eater then the smaller size would be right for them, although they are still good sized portions. I can't comment on the other products that they sell as I only ever buy fish and chips (Regularly!)

The food I had was nice enough the only negative thing is the fact you don't accept card payments (takeaway end) considering the prices and the amount of money some people will be spending, not good, just my opinion.

Walk down memory lane for me and my parents. Lovely clean place and friendly staff.

Chips and chips with homemade tartar sauce in the restaurant very tasty for £6.75 5 stars there. No contactless payment and disappointed that no Heinz ketchup which I had to pay extra for instead of the free cheap option. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Went last Saturday to try and get some food and it was shut at 7.40. On a Saturday! It's supposed to shut at 8pm! Very disappointing!

Expensive and wasn't as good as before

Went in last week after coming back from the hospital. should have realised that it was not going to be suitable for disabled person, but had hoped that the seating upstairs would not be the same as downstairs. The food was expensive and to be honest quite mediocre, very disappointed as the last time in the shop in Shildon the food, service and seating was much better. When are proprietors going to realise that not every one wants to be or is able to be in seating for 5 year olds at a barbecue. I had just had a new pain relief device fitted and could not move. such a shame wont go back again

Take away got plenty of chips tastes nice

Went a 7pm and didn’t have any curry sauce or gravy. The large battered sausage was tiny. Very poor choice of pies, however fish was good.

Been to Clem's many many time over past years, and never been disappointed until last Monday decided to have a portion of chips to keep me going as had been to a hospital appointment .so went to my favourite fish shop got chips and sat on bench round corner . it was then everything went downhill not only did chips seem to be recooked and from the day before but were only look warm .I know it was only a portion of chips but I now am wary of going back in case same happens with fish and chips

Average nothing special little bit on the pricey side for what we got

My partner and I visited tip fish shop on 8th November about 2pm and had cod fish bites and chips. Around 7pm that evening we started to feel sick and my partner began vomiting really badly which followed by the run's which continued all thro the night. I was only sick once thank God. We use this shop most time's when we visit the town but after this experience think we will be giving it a miss

An actual joy to go into, even if a fish shop in the middle of Chester-Le-Street isn't bizarre enough, it's a restaurant too. Upstairs it's a cafe downstairs it's a chippy. It's well priced.

SERVICE 1 out of 5 - TASTE 1 out of 5 - VALUE FOR MONEY 1 out of 5 - Were looking forward to going to Clems as we had heard that it was the best in the area. However this this was not our experience - we went there purposefully to have a sit down meal in their restaurant area upstairs -4 the service was shocking poor and not a smile to be seen from the downstairs or upstairs staff. Still we ordered a large fish and chips and a nice pot of tea which cost around £8 a head. When it finally came to us after 30 minutes wait, it was cold looked like it had been warmed up and not freshly cooked and a small portion. We asked if it was a large and they said yes. So all in all my experience here was not a good one and wish I had gone next door to the Queens Head where i can recommend their fish & chips and burgers are superb, 8 even got a sub from Subway it would have been more satisfying. So sorry Clems that I've left this rather poor review but our experience really was not a good one. I am in no way affiliated to the Queen Head or Subway just I could see both from the restaurant window and remember saying to my fiancé I wish we had gone to either of them.
