My Masala in County Durham

Lovely little takeaway indian restraunt we use a couple times a month when having a child free evening and don't fancy cooking. The staff are lovely especially the young lad who takes our order he's always friendly welcoming and helpful . Food is really tasty and portion sizes are large we order 1 meal between 2 of us and it's more than enough.very good value for money.

Classic box cold when delivered I’am a bit puzzled only live 3 minutes away told food was hot when left driver needs better sat nav he did go to one wrong address how many others I don’t no the box is very poor quality for Indian food

We ordered a takeaway online. Unfortunately as there are multiple branches across the UK we didn’t realise we ordered it from the Durham branch. As we are around 3 hours away this wasn’t an option to collect. We rang 2 mins after processing the order and explained our mistake and requested a refund. This was REFUSED! And they said it wasn’t possible. They wouldn’t even have had time to light a burner. Despicable service!

Very good BIR food. Almost identical to the curry house I worked at back in the early 90s. Just needs to sort out a more efficient delivery service. Still the best for price in the area.

Tried numerous dishes from here and never had a bad take away. curries are lovely and the muncie boxes are excellent value.

I had grandson (7) for the night, and he wanted to learn how to sew one of his Pokemon characters. Obviously, I wasn't going to have the head space to cook, so I ordered from My Masala. My food arrived promptly, delivered with a friendly smile, and was absolutely delicious. I chose chicken mango delight, which I hadn't tried before.

i had rangeela khana with mushroom pilau and plain nan with 2 popadoms it was very good price and food was amazing will definitely be returning also best indian takeaway in chester le street

We stayed just a short 10-minute drive away from this fantastic takeaway, and we were blown away by the friendly and hospitable service provided by the staff. The food itself was equally impressive - we ordered tarka dal and were pleased to find it was both delicious and served in a generous portion size. The papadoms were also noteworthy, as they were surprisingly grease-free. Our kids especially enjoyed the chicken tikka, while my wife couldn't get enough of the palak paneer - in fact, everything we ordered tasted amazing! If we ever find ourselves in the same area again, we would definitely reorder from this takeaway without hesitation. Highly recommended!

Pay a ridiculous price for a curry and you don't even get the meat that was supposed to go with it. My order clearly said it was meant to be included on the receipt. Strangely took longer to prepare than usual despite it being a non busy time & day, bringing it near to closing time when done, very ideal for them considering the shop was closed by the time I discovered this, so it was not possible to get in touch about it

2 hour 45 minute wait for my food. The restaurant blamed it on bad traffic due to fireworks night. But my Google maps said there was no traffic and it was just a 7 minute drive. Food freezing cold and a delivery driver who said he will remember me next time and sort me some good food. 😂 What a joke ordered at 7pm eating tea at nearly 10pm

I ordered mixed kebab starters only had 2 bits of chicken and a seek kebab no lamb. I also got a chicken tikka starter the chicken was very dry. I wouldn't recommend.

The food was unreal! Really can’t find any other places in the area that have food that can even come close to being as good as there’s. Really would recommend this place and the staff is soo friendly. If you wanna treat your taste buds then this really is the place to go

Am never ordering from my masala again I think the cook is trying to be a chef and failed drastically it was one of the worst mails I have ever had they should be ashamed of themselves for putting that kind of Crapy food out on people's table's

The reviews dont lie, lovely food ordered a butter masasl but think it was more like a korma dont know if they picked me up wrong because my scottish accent, anyway wasnt an issue as the food was top class very tasty and warm.

Ordered a madras and got something else entirely. Offered a replacement for just the curry despite everything else being delivered and getting cold. Pointed this out and was told I could get money off next time. Obviously not going back there so money wasted.

Called tonight (29 12 21) as I hadn’t eaten all day due to work commitments,and as I’d been before the manager recognised me,as I got the curry/rice/chips all in one carton,so I was going try something different(although the madras,I had last time was splendid)he recommended the pathia,and it was absolutely amazing,a taste to behold,well done to you guys,I will definitely be back….SUPERB 👍

First time we’ve tried My Massala and wasn’t disappointed. Starters were delicious and main likewise, although I’ll probably go for something more spicy next time, and there will be a next time. It’s a breath of fresh air dealing with a business with great friendly service. Got an email to say the order was ready (bang on time) for collection and afterwards, a message to say enjoy the meal and let them know how it was. Customer service at its best showing they really care about their food. Well done!

Brilliant food, Brilliant staff, what's more to be said

Food was perfect, in cls no one can compare with this takeaway just behind the front street a hidden treasure. The sabka maza was great aswell as the tarka dall my partner had the jhal jhul roshun and thoroughly enjoyed. Naan breads were soft and full of flavour and the rice was seasoned to perfection. Tried all in durham and this was the best and the mrs agrees too recommended to everyone and will be back soon.

This was the first time of ordering after reading the reviews online. The food was absolutely delicious and plenty of it. Delivery was really quick and I was able to pay via a link sent to my phone. First class service and will definetly be using again.

Tried here last night for the first time and got to say really, really impressed - chicken absolutely cooked to perfection, delivery early and piping hot on arrival and the curry sauce spot on - the bhajis and rice really nice too - I think this could be our new regular....

I ordered from the 4 course Sunday Special menu last night. I have heard many good things about the food here from friends recently and I was not dissapointed. I ordered onion bhaji starter, chicken tikka madras, veg pilau and bombay aloo all for £10.95. I ordered a cheese naan extra for £3. I will start by saying, this was the best Indian takeaway I've had in a long time, the tikka madras was rich with a thick sauce that was full of flavour. The Bhaji starter was crisp outside and fluffy inside, just as it should be! The vegetable pilau was tasty enough to eat by itself, and full of perfectly cooked vegetables. I couldn't fault anything. In regards to value for money, in the local area nothing comes close to this menu. The portion sizes are very generous (trust me on this) and the staff were very welcoming too. I can't recommend this place enough!!!

Fantastic food each time we order from here. The Mango Delight is possibly the nicest curry I've ever had but tbh all of the food we've tried is top notch. The lad who serves at the counter is nice and friendly too.

I have tried most places in CLS however this was the best, a hidden gem in the backstreets of Chester le street food was fresh tasty with large portions and great customer service as the young lad behind the counter was very friendly and even gave me popadoms on the house! I ordered the chicken tikka starter well spiced and tasty, chicken madras which was very nice and wasn’t all the one spice as you could taste the spice and flavour, a mushroom pilau which was large and flavourful and a garlic Nan to finish off which was soft and had plenty garlic in Service 10/10 Food 10/10 Overall rating 10/10 Would recommend highly guys

Ordered a mixed kebab magic box at a cost of £13.95. Was supposed to have cubes of chicken, chicken tikka and donner meat. Had five pieces of the smallest chicken you’ve ever seen. I had to search the donner filled box to actually find them. When i rang up I was told I would get more chicken next time I ordered. Not a chance. I took it back and demanded a refund. Forgot to say I waited 25 minutes in the shop after the time it said it was ready for collection. It’s no better than it’s Mr Spice predecessors. Should have gone to Cookson Spuce. It spoilt my night.

First thoughts: WOW Food was amazing..probably one of the best curries I have had if not the best. Indians are my favourite, Currys have all had different flavours, were hot tasty and beautiful..and not all just the one spice usually the typical indians but this was very different. Food coming from a little takeaway like this is great and 5 star hygien reeled me in...but I loved every bit of it i have been 3 times last week but the portion size lasts me double that pwarrr.. Time to get through all of this menu AND I am not exaggerating!!!😍😍 Have told all my family/friends and they enjoy it too You can class Matty as a reglar now..wish i found this place sooner!.

Really great Indian food. I've had a couple of takeaways and they have been delicious. Chicken tikka dupiaza, starters (pakoras, bhajis) and chips, naan bread are really good. Highly recommend

Great takeaway. Hot and tasty food the best Indian i have had in a while will definetly becoming a regular here. Ordered Sunday night special 6 course and with extra garlic nan. Soft breads which were very nice, and the currys were lovely. Mixed kebab is also very nice. Keep it up. 5 stars.

My husband stepson and I decided its sat nite get a Indian. Wrong We waited for over two hours for food... My husband is a diabetic so he shud of already eaten everyme we phoned we was given different stories it's out for delivery then when we phoned again waiting on driver coming back so my food as been sitting there for ages was told will be hot so now cancelled but told can't cancel... Fuming is not the word. Food is eventually here two half hours later. Like warm but because we was starving we had. The poor driver got it all but I said sorry to him not his fault... Will not be coming back..

We found this Indian takeaway in the back street at the top of Chester-Le-Street while out for a a walk. We ordered four meals to be delivered, which were the ; chicken tikka Jhal Jhul Roshun @ £5.95, Lamb madras @ £5.95, Chicken Podina Zal @6.95, Shatkora Goshtm @ £7.95. served with ; chili pilau rice,( had loads of chilis in it) garlic pilau rice, keema pilau rice, and mixed pilau rice, A £40 total cost. Meals were all very nice and tasty, and the Chicken Podina Zal was very nice and spicey with plenty of small green chili's in, and with plenty of meat in. The Shatkora Goshtm was supposed to be citrus tasting but was not very limey tasting, needed more lime in . The Chicken Podina Zal was very minty tasting and smelled of mint. The only thing that spiolt it was the lack of normal chicken meals on the menu, as the majority of the chicken meals were "Tikka". The restaurant offers a 10% discount for direct online orders, which in our case paid for the delivery charge. The app on the website estimates the time of delivery. They gave us two free poppadums' for four meals, should have been four poppadums' really for four people.

We decided to try a different Indian takeaway in Chester-Le-Street. We had ; chicken Tikka Jhal Jhul Roshun priced at £6.95. Lamb madras priced at £5.95, Chicken Podina Zal priced at £6.95, Shatkora Gosht priced at £7.95, served with; chili pilau garlic pilau, keema pilau, and mixed pilau. the cost was £40 with a 10% discount for direct online orders which actually paid for our delivery. All four meals where really very nice and hot where required with a plentiful supply of fresh green chilis to supply the heat requirement's. The menu has a lot of chicken Tikka dishes on it but very few normal plain chicken dishes on it. The online app tracks your order and lets you see where and when your order is delivered.

Brilliant takeaway, I would recommended My Masala to anyone as it is the best Indian takeaway in Chester le Street. I have already recommended to friends and I hope this develops to grow in the region, now my 3rd takeaway in a month.
