Having been here many times before for food, drinks and overnight stay at the adjoining Travel Lodge, and always having had a good experience, our experience this weekend has left us very disappointed to the point we will probably never go again! We went to celebrate my brother’s 50th birthday and returned well before closing only to be rudely told the bar called last orders 15 minutes before, which would have been about 10.15; 45 minutes before official closing time. We wanted a last night cap and were refused. We were even refused entry via their establishment to the adjoining rooms where we were staying. Both my parents are disabled and the girl concerned expected them to walk all the way around to the main entrance. She eventually thought better of it and allowed us through. We even asked if we could take a drink to our room and have it added to our bill and were refused. There was no reason for this attitude. We were neither drunk or disorderly. Extremely disappointed!

Typical old style pub, and in my opinion one of the best pubs in Chester le Street, a place you will always get a very good beer and a wine, there is a fantastic selection of very well presented beers and lagers, its comfy and well laid out, very reasonable prices. Friendly attentive staff, very seldom is there a wait to get served.Great atmosphere, well done guys.

I couldn't physically eat here. Bins are totally over flowing, blowing rubbish down the street. I sat adjacent to the shop for a few minutes. A bird flew down and became entangled in the plastic rubbish bags. Dangerous to public health and wildlife. I've tried to notify Subway themselves and have been passed around. Waste of time.

5 item breakfast. If you are going to compete with the other cafes in Chester-le-Street you have to been good. There are a number to chose from and ones that have been established for decades. Cafe 91 has been going for a few years and I have visited about 2-3 times. I ordered a 5 item breakfast for £4.75 (which includes tea or coffee) When they say 5 item breakfast they literally mean that. One rasher of bacon and one small chipolata sausage. One slice of toast. There is an option for a bigger breakfast I would have chosen had I known. The coffee was a filter coffee although it wasn't made via a filter machine. So overall the food wasn't good and service decidedly average.
