Wallet Attack I'm afraid I'll have to leave a negative review simply because of the pricing. I ordered a pint of Fosters Lager, I'm normally a beer drinker but I wanted a quick thirst quencher. I nearly fell off my chair when I was charged £4.30 - this sort of price for what is, the cheapest lager on the market is ridicules in a village like Fram' I certainly won't go back there at these prices, my pension just won't stretch that far. On the upside it is a tradional pub, doesn't serve food. I'm not sure about the telly tho' Smudger

I visited with my two children for lunch during the Christmas period. The pub was rather busy but we managed to get a table ok. I ordered at the bar as table service is not available, this wasn’t a problem. There was an extremely long wait for the food which I was not informed of upon ordering, not ideal when dining with two young children. The food was ok, can’t really have any complaints as it was very cheap.I don’t think we’ll be rushing back to the Queens Head in a hurry.

Can not fault the serving staff they were great and very polite and helpful. What let it down was the food. The veg was over cooked to the point the sprouts and cauliflower were practically water. The roast veg was really greasy and rock hard at the same time. The Turkey was dry and had a weird taste. The prawn starter was a average and so was the xmas pud.

Booked a table in advance to accommodate a wheelchair and this was provided. Food order was one fish and chips, one pie and chips and a baked potato with chicken in mayonnaise. Of these the pie was by far the better option, nothing to complain about. The fish had been overcooked, very dark brown hard batter and dried up fish. The chicken in the baked potato was hard and dry, served with a side salad of mixed leaves that were wilted and past their best, should never have been put on a plate. I don't think that the pub serves many salads, looking around at the other diners. We will probably go back as there are not many places that serve the type of food my elderly mother eats within walking distance of her care home.

Actually a double Xmas treat as we visited here jus prior to Christmas and again last week. On the first visit I sampled the steak and ale pie whilst the other half opted for the all day breakfast (Brunch to you and I) both meals arrived piping hot and both were very generous in portion sizes. The other half in fact struggled to clear her plate. All it all it was cracking value with both choices coming from the two meals for £ 9.49 menu. So including our drinks the bill was still below £15.00.

we were walking passed an took a chance after seeing a sign that said food served till 9pm. went in and got some drinkies and sat down instantly picking up the menu and talking about what we were going to have to eat. Spent say 15 min deciding what to eat, went the bar and was served by some one I would not recognise again if I passed him in the street. table 22 I say and about to give my order mr bar tender replys were not serving food, I ask what time is it, mr bar tender points to the clock saying we stopped serving at 7 and it was now 7.15, But you have just watched us sit down and consider food why didn't you warn us then that food was soon to stop. getting frustrated I then went back to the group and announced no food. I pointed out rather loudly that the sign also stated food served till 9pm, having decided we wanted some dinner and to move on, mr bar man comes over and says chef will serve you, erm too late no thanks. then I got back from a lovely little Chinese checked out trip adviser and though after seeing the food web pics I may have been saved. result rubbish hospitality from the queens in chester le street. We visit Chester le Street around once a month to see my mother in her care home and take her out for lunch on the Saturday. Venue depends on the weather as she is a wheelchair user and can't access normal vehicles. We often go to the Queens Head as it isn't too far to push her and she likes simple food like chips. It's usually busy and noisy with music and kids. This Saturday was no exception. We'd found a seat near the door and got her organised (foot rests, coat etc) but it was only after ordering the food and drinks that I noticed a sign advising that the seats near the door are considered a sports area and can be noisy. It was noisy but tolerable until 15 minutes later they turned up the volume of the TV showing football to a level that made conversation impossible but did not drown out the kid having a screaming tantrum. I checked for other tables in the upper level of the pub, even though this would entail going outside again and around the back of the building. One was available in the centre but not large enough to accommodate a wheelchair and not without disturbing half a dozen tables of other customers. I had no alternative but to cancel the food order and leave the drinks. The 3 star review is because the manager refunded the food costs, as to be fair they hadn't started cooking it. We pushed my mother the extra 10 minutes up the street to the Wetherspoons where we had similar food in a less hectic atmosphere and just managed to avoid the rain on the way back.
