CoHo in County Durham

Unfortunately this pub has the potential to Be a relaxing chill area, but The clueless staff and rude owners unfortunately let it massively down. Employing younger staff maybe the pubs downside? It also might be that the brunch is limited to 5 drinks and a tiny meal that is microwaved? happy to be proved wrong on a different visit, but I’d prefer the boathouse for value for money, taste and service skills. Happy for management to show me otherwise however feel that very doubtful unfortunately. Disappointed is the best description for this pub.

When the food came 4/5 plates were cold, complained about it but nothing was done. Ate what we could but ended up leaving most, complained again and we're given our drink free! Poor service from a waitress with attitude and very expensive for the portion size. Also went to the toilet after the food and they had closed while I was away, felt very pushed out. Would not go again.

Terrible coffee. Probably the worst coffee we have ever had. Espresso, cappuccino (soup style with added cacao without asking). Not only terrible but expensive too.

Had our work's Christmas do here and would definitely recommend. Mountains of food which was all delicious, cocktails were great too. Already planning our next visit!

Lovely little place. Food is amazing, staff are so welcoming and polite. Nice clean and sophisticated cafe. Will have to give it a try one evening on a weekend 😊

Bottomless brunch for hen do. The service and drinks were amazing in here, the waiting staff were great and a total credit to this place. The food was inedible and a few of us sent our food back but this was sorted at the time with ease. Was a shame about the food but still had a great time and would recommend it for the aforementioned alone but would not return myself.

CoHo went above and beyond for us when our venue for a babyshower fell through at late notice. The staff were fantastic, going out of their way to be extra reassuring for one of our guests with allergies. The food was great, and such a good price for the amount you got. Whatever we couldn't eat was boxed up for us to take away. There was a great selection of drinks available, including mocktails for those who don't drink. Highly recommend for afternoon tea. Thank you so so much.

Me and my partner came in for lunch. My partner ordered the burger which comes with chips and I ordered the toastie with a side of cheesy chips. When the food came there were no chips with my partners food but only the cheesy chips. We were in a rush so didn’t say anything. The music was extremely loud and felt like we were in a club. Service was quite slow with only one person taking orders and serving as two of the other workers were sat at the back of the room on laptops even though there was a continuous queue. Probably won’t be back.

Must have been the chefs day off, the breakfast was awful, sausage and bacon were burnt, hash brown was grey and dripping with oil, and the scrambled egg looked like a dog had been sick on the plate

We had a lovely lunch here, food was superb especially the chilled Asian Beef noodles, great location and fabulous staff. 100% recommended.

This is a cute place down on the water. When we arrived it says wait to be seated. No one ever looked over, so we just went to the bar and ordered. Drink prices are on par with a posh bar in Durham but does have a nice outdoor area. We will be back as we want to try the food.

Had an absolutely amazing whispering Angel bottomless brunch with friends to today and would totally recommend this. Definitely value for money, great venue, fantastic atmosphere and the best staff and management that make you feel so welcome. A definite must visit place if you are in Durham. 10 out of 10

Great calamari and spicy dip and Tequila Sunrise on a beautiful sunny day. Another day I had pancakes with Marple syrup and bacon. A large cup of Earl Grey tea and a perfect latte.

Lovely outdoor seating next to the river. Service was very good and didn't have to wait too long for some food. Chicken strips were really good and fries were also good. Staff were welcoming and friendly.

Nice atmosphere, but cold coffee... literally cold enough to down tablets with as soon as it arrives at the table. Second replacement coffee also cold 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️ won't be returning for coffee, thats for sure!

My friend bought 3 cocktails and got overcharged at £38. Sadly, we didn't notice until after leaving. Drinks are okay.

We had breakfast here while we stayed in Durham rather than use our hotel breakfast. It was good and worth a look

Food was fab ! Table service was a nice touch. Very friendly and comfortable atmosphere. Sunny day, sat outside, relaxing beautiful river view ! One of the nicer places we’ve frequented in Durham ! 🥂

Lovely afternoon tea at a great price using wowcher code, that includes a cocktail. Only negative was the loud music, which doesn't really go with an afternoon tea

Amazing staff, make great cocktails but… I’ve noticed that the male manager is sat in the corner watching over the staff working today… seen him have a go at them for the simplest things.e.g pouring a simple cocktail. They look under pressure even when it’s not that busy. May I add the staff are female. They messsd up a few pints and the look the manager gave the staff made me feel sick, I don’t blame them for messing up bearing in mind first impressions. 5 stars to the staff, 1 star to the manager

The staff were lovely and friendly an that's about it...the afternoon tea was obviously pre prepared and straight out of the fridge...the sandwiches were stale as a result and very cold...the pastries were also cold and could have been warmed up ... it was all tasteless...the cakes were non edible and nothing looked like the pictures on the site, I wish I had taken a picture now...very disappointed...cocktails were very nice however, but overall not worth 40.00 for two it's a good job it was paid for with a voucher....would steer clear unless going for the cocktails.......

I haven’t been in so this isn’t a negative or positive review but it’s not a café. It’s clearly a bar and right outside HM Passport Office it’s a shame they aren’t open for coffee. Looks pretty from the outside and a lovely location.

Very nice place with lots of outdoor seating. Unfortunately staff weren’t friendly. We had to wait for our friends there and we ordered tea and coffee all the time but feel like they tried to kick us- looking at us all the time, my coffee was still in my cup but they asked not very polite if we are finished…good place but poor service

Such a nice bar, staff are pleasant and polite, make you feel very welcome. Drinks are out of this world. Will be coming here more often.

It's a nice cafe in the mornings but it gets roudy from dinnertime onwards. The hot drink and breakfast roll for £4 is great value and the bacon was really nice and the staff were polite. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. It's situated opposite the passport office which is what brought me into the establishment. My reason for the 3 stars and not higher was that the toilets didn't look like they'd be cleaned in a while. There was 2 empty toilet rolls tubes and no actual toilet roll and it's embarrassing to have to ask for toilet roll in places and also the soap dispenser didn't have soap in it and probably hadn't had any for a while as there was a replacement bottle of soap on the side of the sink that barely had enough soap in the bottom of the bottle to wash my hands with. It didn't look like it had been checked or cleaned from the previous night as this was at around 10:30am that I was there.

Just Wow! We're at here in CoHo for afternoon tea and a cocktail. The staff are so friendly, helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The afternoon tea is gorgeous, very fresh and tasty, loads of it. Lovely cocktails, good music Watching other people in the restaurant, all the food looks fantastic, we're definitely coming back for tapas Highly recommend this place!

What very friendly pleasant staff having coffee while waiting for passport appointment

Been here twice now for lunch/cocktails and have enjoyed both times. The 2-4-1 cocktails were delicious and brilliant value for money, and the food I had was really tasty. The riverside location is really nice to escape the hustle bustle of town and provides a calm atmosphere to catch up with friends. Would recommend!

I had a fantastic French martini this afternoon 🍸

I attended for afternoon tea, I wouldn't recommend it. The bread for the sandwiches was extremely dry. The cream scone was disappointing as it was squirt cream, not clotted cream. This was my first time coming here, unfortunately I wouldn't come back.

Good bar right down on the river. Plenty of seats outside for when it's sunny and great music.

Small, and intimate establishment, which will probably suit the longer days of summer with it's outside areas on the side of the River Wear.

Brilliant service, brilliant food and drinks. Fancied a Mr Porky burger but asked to pay the extra and have an additional burger! 2 for £10 on the cocktails at the time too so 2 with food but the real star of the show was the hazelnut espresso martini, cracking after dinner drink and staff more than happy to do stuff that isn't on the menu!

Not bad needs live bands on for a bit atmosphere and food very over priced for what you get

If first impressions count I'm not going back. Uninterested staff, disorganized & when the hot food & drinks arrived they were cold. Not a pleasant smile from any of the staff. It was the 2nd time my friend had been, she also said never again.

Staff very polite. Very nice atmosphere although not many people there, but it was way before lunch time. Willdecinitly visit again for breakfast or lunch.

We stumbled upon on this place as part of a stag doo and what a place it was. We were quite a large group but we were welcomed by the manager and given an outside seating area together (all socially distanced of course). The staff were amazing so friendly and always on call to take another drinks order and up for a laugh. The manager on duty that day was amazing so friendly and good banter with all the lads but still managed to keep all us in check. The female waitress was also amazing we all had a good bants with her and she was super friendly even when we were getting a bit rowdy 🤣 This place was only meant to be a stop off but we ended up staying for hours and all had a great day. Best Mojito I have ever had in UK. I will definitely be visiting again maybe next time just a coffee though as I'm never drinking again 😉

First time here, looks brilliant clean and tidy throughout, staff pleasant. Unfortunately coffee was lukewarm, food order came wrong and the burger only filled half of the bun. Didn't try a beer but imagine its a good place to sit and enjoy one, but disappointed with the food. No children's menu.

This is the third time I have found a hair in my Bacon sandwich. Otherwise they serve a nice sandwich.

Visited on 22nd Aug for lunch and a drink. Food was delicious, i had eggs benedict and my husband had pancakes, syrup and bacon. Service was speedy and with a smile, what's not to like. So much so, we popped back the next day, ordered our drinks and sat outside chillaxing. We will visit again on our next stay in Durham.

Visited post COVID we all felt very safe and the one way system worked very well. We had excellent service from Aaron who made us feel very welcomed.

We were early in returning to the coach pickup point after a day of sightseeing in the city, CoHo is right next to the pickup point, and whilst I thought it was a Bar, it also a cafe during the day. Good welcome, we ordered coffee, and a strawberry slice, both were reasonably good, and it allowed us to have a quiet break before catching the coach back to. Our hotel after a long day on foot in the town

Always kind of quiet whenever I've been but a great place to find a space when Durham centre is packed tight. Great views of the river and a wide selection of gins, with a varied cocktail menu and extended happy hour offers.

It's the hottest day of the so far the air conditioning is Off. Trouble with the pumps....so half price later hic.
