Bar 23 in County Durham

I went to lunch today with my daughter and had such a lovely time , the food was delicious. I knew as soon as the food didn’t come straight out it was being freshly prepared and cooked and it certainly was. The weather was sunny and we sat outside in the terrace area which is lovely…..Very impressed 100% recommend

Been here a few times now and it’s always been a good solid bet Albeit last time the Parmo was mushy but still tasty That was until today, upon entering we were seemingly dismissed as there was fewer people going than our booking but eventually we were seated, unfortunately beside a rowdy crowd of women who thought it was acceptable to Vape in the premises and cause a general nuisance We ordered food and whilst the drinks were served quickly we waited approximately one hour for the food to arrive, despite the restaurant being pretty much empty (can understand why it’s rank) Upon recieving our food we were shocked by the poor quality of it, my partners loaded fries were sticky and covered in grease and the meat within them was rock hard and almost impossible to eat My Parmo was quite simply the worst I have ever come across, it was both dry and mushy and had a strange taste to it, almost like it was off The chips had absolutely no taste to them either What a waste of £31, we will never be going again Also the staff need a lesson in customer service, especially the brown haired women who speaks and acts in a very unfriendly and unprofessional manner

Great place for food and drink and it comes alive on a weekend evening wow

I was amazed by the quality and taste of the food. I usually go to somewhere more expensive but just popped in. it was not full and Sunday lunch was the best I've had in years, well done

Had the wife's 30th party here and hired the bar out and it was amazing. Kristy was amazing to deal with and the food from Mcgreey in the kitchen for the party was amazing 🤩

Never been in since it was the 'Gamecock' so it must be an improvement 🤣

Called in today for food the service needs improvement we had no check backs and had to get our own cutlery even though there was one other table in our server seemed like she didn’t want to be there as she was just stood at the end of the bar talking to other people who work there food was lovely but could of been brought out all together instead of bringing sides out after I was nearly finished my meal a don’t think we will be returning

Got the half plain parmo & the cheesy stake parmo flipping tremendous, highly recommend it , friendly staff , good value.

A wonderful and not to expensive restaurant, great range of food on offer including loaded fries. Food was cooked well and served hot. Friends who had steak said it was perfectly cooked. Customer service was excellent and felt very welcome. Friendly too. Clean and tidy, highly recommend this place for a meal.

I had a great catch up with my friend this teatime. Not one for taking food photos, the chicken Caesar salad was delicious and the shwarma chicken looked lush, portion sizes are on the large side but not complaining. We shared a crumble and custard and safe to say we’re both stuffed. Great service from Sam, Toni and Keisha (& the girl off to Ibiza on Monday!) they can do enough for you. Pass our compliments to the chefs who always do a stupendous job behind the scenes 💖

Excellent place. Fantastic Food, Excellent service and drinks, the cocktails are great. Daughter came up from University for the weekend on 27th May to celebrate her 21st with the family and we had a great day.

Been a twice now as the menu excites us. We first went for the parmo night 2x £20 and wow what value for money! 10/10 for parmos no complaints , flavours, portions , sides etc. Second time I returned I went for the surf and turf sharer which looked amazinggg however the steaks weren't the best which let it down but beautiful diane sauce!! Staff need cocktail training I will say that... Will continue to come back here and I've already recommended people to do same

Visited yesterday (19.4.23) for first time & we were both impressed with the food & service. Wendy was first class & Kitchen staff served one of the best Parmo's ever. Keep up the good work ! Onwards & Upwards !

What an unbelievable curry night! I'm only half way through, almost defeated by the portion size but the flavour is great. Whoever made these Bhaji's needs and award!!!!

Amazing! We’ve been a few times now and never been disappointed. Love taking my 2 year old there too, it’s the only restaurant he will sit happily in, and all the staff interact with him too which is so lovely! Thank you for making us always feel so welcome, we can’t wait to come back again 😃

Absolutely beautiful food and bar

The staff were very apologetic and friendly however there were no veg ( chopped salad was served as a substitute? )no diane sauce the chicken was dry and the salmon fillet very small. The dessert while nice took 30minutes to be served and the staff had to be reminded 3 times. We were so disappointed as we had been previously for the tapas which was the total opposite a great foodie evening. Such a shame.

The food was delightful (best chips around!). Pleasant fast service. Deffo be going back x

Went for first time to day ordered the steak oh my god I'm 60 and travelled the world that was the best I have ever had will be going back more now I know its there , If in Peterlee I recomme you go

As king Charles said to liz truss oh dear oh dear , we called in today to give the new place our support but we were left traumatised to say the least . I know its early days and teething problems but it took an hour for our meals to come when they arrived the food was nice and we both enjoyed them. But the noise was incredible lots of kids running about and scraping chairs in and out (may need felt on the feet or something to stop the nosie bouncing around )and there was an issue with the lights flashing on and off or off all together, the 2 waitresses were run off there feet having to do bar work take orders and serve food , so I don't know whether they were just short staffed or didn't expect so many clients but they weren't very well prepared, we were just about to leave after waiting for so long when our meal arrived but we were pleased to get out away from the trauma and get home needless to say we won't be returning in a hurry ...

Hopefully just teething trouble for them but honestly food was bland. Had to send a meal back due to mash potatoes being raw. Items weren't on the menu. People that came in after us were served before us. Meals are over priced for what they are. Also Hand dryer didn't work in the gents. They discounted the food but honestly I wouldn't go back place seems chaotic.

The food was delicious, i'd definitely recommend the pizzas. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The place looks nice inside and you can tell they must have put a bit of effort into it the decor. We will definitely be going back.

Booked a table for two on opening night, the decor of the place is amazing, very trendy and cozy, the whole place looks to have been refurbished and it does not disappoint! I had a pizza and my other half had the fajitas, awesome stone baked pizza, all perfectly crispy on the base and the toppings just right, again fajitas were amazing, lots of flavour and generous portions, all at a very decent price! It was like being in a trendy big city centre bar/restaurant but with affordable pricing! To say it was opening night and the place was packed the staff were brilliant, constantly attentive but not intrusive, the second my drink was finished our waitress was at the table to check if we would like another, they were quick, polite and knowledgeable! Topped off with a classy live singer! There is no other place like this in Peterlee, even in the county maybe! Book a table while you still can!!! Thanks for a great evening
