Fabios Italian Restaurant gin & cocktail bar in County Durham

Fabulous Italian restaurant. The food was outstanding, the staff were all lovely. The menu is extensive and very reasonably priced. Slight issue with our cocktails which we returned. The manager came back with fresh ones and apologised profusely, agreeing the first ones were not good. We weren't charged for them either. Shame we live over 200 miles away, wish this restaurant was local to us!

Love this restaurant and looking forward to having lunch there again once restrictions have been lifted - can’t wait. Excellent food at reasonable prices, with very friendly staff.

For the last few years we have celebrated my boxing day birthday here with 20 of my children/grandchildren and each and everyone loved it. This year of course that was not possible so our son and his partner kindly invited us to there's for the evening and we ordered Fabio takeaway, it arrived on time, hot and as delicious as ever. Cant wait for lockdown to finish so yet again we can take all our family and enjoy the personal friendly service we always get. Thank you FABIOS for making my birthday so special. We have no hesitation in recommending this lovely restaurant /takeaway you will find Fabios fantastic

Lovely lunchtime food. Been here a few times and this time is certainly the best. The soup which was part of their £10 special lunchtime deal was creamy, thick and delicious, I opted for the Caesar salad which I couldn’t finish so I took it away. Covid guidelines all met, track/trace and temperature taken. My son had potato skins and a chicken meal with a bechamel sauce. Service great.

Felt really covid secure. This is only the third meal out for us covid-anxious peeps since the pandemic began. We felt really safe, with the sanitizer at the door, enforcement of masks, temperature checks, insisting we scan in on NHS app, staff masks/visors and well distanced tables. It also happened to be the best pizza I’ve eaten outside of Italy. Lovely soft doughy base and the topping was lush. The mushroom starter was also excellent. The staff were consistently friendly and polite too. Can fault this place

Have been a few times in the past where I'd felt the food wasn't 100% and staff not very attentive. Last night they really upped their game.... good Covid19 application including temperature check on arrival and very welcoming and attentive staff. Food was absolutely delicious and cocktails at 2 for £12 were fabulous. We were in quite late and no one hurried us out.

An amazing very safe service.. Where all covid measures politelt met.. All staff frie fly.. Exceptional service and very good standard of cleanliness. The food.. Good choice on menu but we had the beef as lamb sold out. Great selection of vegetables and well presented with huge soft fresh yorkied. And ample beef... Gravy so tasty.. Wine was house that I had but it was good enough for lunch... Definitely will go back.. .

Wow what can I say, fantastic Sunday lunch choice of beef, chicken and Lamb all meats are fabulous just melt in your mouth. Was wonderful to be made to feel special after winning Sunday Roast for 4. Would highly recommend to anyone and no need to worry about social distancing. Fantastic service and wonderful food will definitely be back.

Arrived at peak time without a reserved table. Half expected to be turned away as the restaurant was busy.Waiter guided us swiftly to the waiting area where we received drinks promptly. 10 minutes later we were seated and food order was taken, food was to an exceptional standard as always, meal was finished with a complementary drink on the house to appologise for how busy it was & having to wait for a table. I my experience a busy restaurant shows the quality of food and drink on offer. 10/10 for politeness, food quality & overall experience.

This restaurant offers a good happy hour menu over most week days, however during our visit tables were pre-set , with pepper pots on the table which goes against Covid guidelines.

Booked a table for 3, 3 weeks ago for 2 of our birthdays only to arrive after travelling 11 miles to find the restaurant SHUT. We have dined here several times and when we arrived here, the owners were outside with workmen who were inside denying all knowledge of our call. Waste of time and money. Best Italian in Chester le street. The service is always amazing and the food is delicious. The cocktails are always lovely too. We come here regularly. Highly recommend.

First trip to a restaurant after lockdown had to go local. Fancied a Sunday roast and was not disappointed. Highly recommend the trio of meats, absolutely delicious. Shout out to the staff, always a warm friendly welcome quickly followed by a nice cold drink. Spot on every time

With Boris telling us all that we could at last go out for a meal we booked a table at our favourite local italian restaurant Fabio's five days after they were allowed to reopen.They have moved the tables upstairs to socially distance them (and I think they are using part of the downstairs restaurant as a bigger kitchen).The function room upstairs isn't quite as pretty as the restaurant, but the service and great food more than make up for that. We had the sharing platter to start (huge and delicious!) and pizzas and pasta mains. All superb, as good as we remembered pre-lockdown. We has a great night and it was a pleasure to support a great local restaurant that shut down to help keep us all safe. Go spend money here, this place is fab and deserves to rise again!

Best Takeaway Sunday lunch and great service.We went last week and as I write this review, I have re-ordered. The service from the staff, from taking my order until picking it up was faultless. They offer a selective side menu to their Sunday roast choices. I ordered 3 beef dinners, pizza, potato skins and chips. I was amazed to see they all came in a suitable plastic containers which are handy to keep after. The food was piping hot and fresh. There was plenty of veg and meat on the Sunday dinners and the portions are ample. They also offer a delivery service for a £2 charge. Would recommend trying here one Sunday lunch.

Best takeaway for miles! Delicious starter, even better main. Compliments to the chef and delivery driver for being so quick. Highly recommended 👍

Got a takeaway delivered last night from fabios. My wife and I got the calzone fabio and a tagliatelle carbonara to share. I cannot wax lyrical enough about the food. Superb restaurant quality. Fresh, soft dough. Lovely container or marinara sauce for dipping and scandalously sinful creamy carbonara. Everyone needs a fabios in their life right not

Visited this restaurant on 29th February which may be the reason it was jam packed!!As we hadn't been before we didn't know if it was always that busy on a Saturday. We were a little early for our booking but were seated right on time.Once we had ordered, our food arrived in an acceptable time and it was presented well and was hot.The food was fabulous and all the staff were friendly and attentive.We would definitely visit again.

Excellent visit at the weekend to Fabios! Booked a table last minuet on a Friday, no problems. Upon arrival we were shown to the bar. Good, quick service and drinks reasonably priced. Shortly after we were seated an orders taken promptly. Gluten free options are not a problem with pasta dishes and pizza dishes available. Gluten free garlic pizza was delish! Main courses were quick, fresh and enjoyed by all! I can recommend the chicken dish with peppercorn source with a salad garnish side. Many pasta dishes were also enjoyed! Service was friendly and quick!The prices were good value for money and portion sizes good! Everyone left happy and I would 100% recommend to anyone in that area and I hope to return in the future!Thank you for a lovely evening!

I visited Fabios last night for the first time. Food was delicious. Prices very reasonable both for food and drink. They had entertainment in the form of a young lad singing and he was fairly good making for a good atmosphere.(we even had a conga later in the night) Waiters were very attentive even though it was packed out.The only down side is we were a party of 16 and had pre ordered food a week previously but one of the main courses did not arrive until half way through the rest of us eating ours. An apology was given by the waiter and it did not spoil the night. We enjoyed a lovely family get together and will definitely be going backWell done all the staff you coped well on a very busy night

The olives with bread & oil and the garlic mushrooms were lovely starters for lunch. The pizzas which followed (1 mushroom & 1 chicken Kiev) were both excellent; fresh, thin crust and generous size with tasty toppings. Add in 2 pints of Amstel & a pint diet cola and bill under £30 was great value. Friendly, efficient service. Clean facilities.

I was at this restaurant on a friday night recently in a group of four men.We had a booking at 8pm and arrived on time but had to stand at the door for 20 mins as there were no tables available - no apologies and we couldnt get to the bar as people were standing along the bar.We got seated and after about 10 mins we got the menu s and ordered a round of drinks.We ordered our food after another 15 mins. Starters came after another 20 mins and were ok (skins and pasta).We then had another wait of 25 mins for the main courses which were ok but the pasta had too much sauce in it.We had to ask for the bill as the waiters seemed more interested in a party of young women on the table behind us.The service seems to get slower and slower - we were there for over two hours for a two course meal and two rounds of drinks - and this is the fifth time ive been here with different company.The restaurant is busy but the service is so slow particularly if any big tables are in.We will not be returning - sorry.

Food and service here was amazing. The staff were attentive and the food stayed thoroughly hot. Cocktails was delicious and fairly priced. 100% would recommend and go again.

The owner is an astute business man and deserves a big high-five. With this management in charge this restaurant will undoubtedly go from strength to strength in a very competitive (some might argue saturated) local restaurant market. As a theatre company looking for a 40 person venue late at night - not a problem to Fabio's. They accommodated us after hours (after our show finished) with a fully stocked bar and staff. Complimentary starters, jovial staff providing excellent table service. The atmosphere was spot on after what may have been a long day for many of them. The food was hot, tasty and promptly served. Absolutely no complaints from me. I had an excellent experience and look forward to more of the same in future.

After a short period of abstance, our visit tonight was a reminder of why we enjoyed our regular visits to this wonderful restaurant. Our meal tonight was faultless, from start to finish. I commend the, staff on their professionalism in hospitality, the chefs, with their expertise, in combining the tantalising flavours, in the mouthwatering food, along with the fantastic presentation, creating an abundance of feel good endorphins, emulating from the whole experience of the evening. Fabulous Visited here Saturday late afternoon and the restaurant was very busy but we were seated promptly to our table. Staff were all really friendly, chatty to the children and we felt really chilled. Food was amazing, piping hot and fantastic portions for the lunch time special. We did pay extra to get different options from the £5.95 menu but well worth it. We had a lovely lunch and will definitely return again very soon. We did visit here after it first opened and we weren’t impressed but how we wish we had returned sooner - the only Italian in Chester le street now for us. PS Sorry took photos after starting so half eaten oops!

Visited for an inpromtu meal as a party of 4. We entered the restaurant at approxinately 8pm and the staff looked really disappointed to see us.

When you see a 3 course meal for £5-95 you become sceptical Quite honestly say very pleasantly surprised Fresh soup fresh pasta outstanding pizza and good service Beyond me how they do it Any wonder it was chockablock Recommended

We went to celebrate our son’s graduation. There was 14 of us. We all pre-ordered our food a couple of days earlier. It was our first visit. It has amazing decor and great atmosphere. The staff made us feel very welcome, especially my gran. All our food come out together and piping hot. Every dish we ordered was perfect. I have to recommend the spaghetti bolognese as it’s the first time I have had one without the runny juice being left in the bowl. The bolognese wasn’t runny and didn’t have big chunks of tomato, mushrooms or onions. I will return just for this dish in the future. We all ordered desserts and the chef special went down with us all. Excellent food and warm friendly staff. Great restaurant

Visited Saturday 14th December as a group of 31 amongst other party groups hence Fabios was busy ! I cannot praise and thank all the staff working that day.

Fabios to the rescue. After our original venue letting us down just 7days before our event. We called nearly every function room in chester le street. Only to find fabios was available. Lovely room freshly painted , bright big spacious room.

Another fabulous visit, for my sons birthday. Enjoyed great food and fabulous cocktails. The staff are extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble

We visited as a couple for early evening dinner after a long day at work. The food, cleanliness and service was brilliant with a lovely atmosphere . We love it so much we have been every Friday night for the past 3 weeks and its now our favourite restaurant in Chester-le-Street. Thanks to all the staff for making us feel so welcome .

First visit here, last night, but certainly won’t be our last. Owner gave us a warm welcome, always a good start! The starter we shared - Antipasto Platter - was a meal in itself and remarkable value. Pizza and lasagne followed, all tasty. There was a singer on, Tom Wyllie, who has an amazing repertoire and moved around the tables entertaining. A talented guy, very good.

Booked a table because told it gets busy. We were not impressed with the food , potato skins had no potato on them and Luke warm, spaghetti bolognese was tasteless mince was like something out of a tin . Bottle of house red wine expensive . Service was ok but will not be returning or recommending this restaurant to friends.

A name to match the quality , excellent food at a very reasonable price with very friendly staff . Highly recommend it .

Had a wonderful 12th birthday party here at 5 pm . There were 9 of us and the bill came to about £100 and we all had three courses from the special menu. The food was very good and the drinks reasonably priced including cocktails but it was the ambiance that made the party so good and the kindness and efforts of the staff to make it special. Had my sons 18th birthday lunch today at Fabios. Was really busy which was great to see as the food and staff were fabulous. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Thank you for helping make my sons day.

I visited Fabio’s with my two young children on a Saturday afternoon. We didn’t book but there were no problems getting seated as the restaurant was fairly quiet.

My daughter and I visited this restaurant last week and although she has eaten here before she was really disappointed when she was unable to order a vegan pizza because the pizzas bases they had prepared were none vegan.

Always good to find new places to eat out gluten free safely!

The food was EXCELLENT the staff were EXCELLENT and the prices are EXCELLENT. We had a midweek lunch £5.95 for 3 courses which we all really enjoyed. The staff were great nothing was a problem we were there for a leisurely lunch with friends the staff did not rush us at all.

First time here and sadly I wouldn't go back. Its a shame as the food itself was nice and the restaurant is lovely however the service really let's this place down. The service was really slow, we were there for 2 hours in total and were never offered any desserts. We also waited 25 minutes for our drinks order to arrive. When they came someone in the party joked they hoped the liked the cocktail they had ordered and the server relied 'Well you ordered it so you should". We found this person extremely rude and when we asked who they were we were told it was the owner! Not the service we would expect at all from an owner of a restaurant.

Our first visit having heard good things. Called in today onspec for Sunday lunch and we were not disappointed. The place was half full but then full by the time we left. The food was superb. We both opted for the Roast Beef which was delicious. It came with plenty of perfectly cooked veg, a huge Yorkshire pudding and lashings of hot gravy. Service was quick and very friendly. One of the best Sunday dinners I have had in a long time. Excellent value at £6.95. We will certainly return.

Back in Britain after more than 20 years in Italy we've at last found a restaurant that serves some genuine Italian produce. The appetizer platter is a meal in itself and the mozzarella and olives from Puglia just set the taste buds alight. The menu is varied offering a good choice of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes and the service is helpful and friendly. It is proving to be difficult keeping away from here.

We have just got back from our first visit at Fabio's and it was lovely. The friendly staff couldn't do enough for us and they made a fuss of our little girl (which she loved). The food was excellent and the price was great too. We will be back soon.

This was our first time visiting Fabios and we will definitely be back. We didn't have a reservation, but they found us a table straight away, even though, for a tuesday evening, it seemed busy.The food was lovely and the staff were friendly and professional.

Lovely friendly Italian restaurant, it opens at 12 and has a special menu for £5 or 6 for 2 courses with a choice of starters and mains or an ice cream or coffee or you can choose from the main menu. My friend and I sat nattering until 3.30 after we finished lunch and didn’t feel rushed at all , the food is excellent, cocktails are 2 for £8 until 7pm and staff are friendly, I would heartily recommend. There is parking nearby behind Argos which is very cheap

We went here on a lazy Sunday evening after some good recommendations. I was a little dubious going after the lunch rush but I was pleasantly surprised. They had everything we wanted and the food was great. The service was excellent with the staff talking and carrying on with the children and great value to. I would highly recommend.

We were visiting Durham County Cricket grounds for a gig on Saturday night and we found Fabios in the local high street. We were attracted to the 3 course meal for £5.95 deal and I have to say we weren’t disappointed. They slotted us into a very busy night and the service from the FoH Staff was First Class attentive despite the fact they were so busy. Food was good, I’m vegetarian and I was pleased with my choices. Would definitely recommend for a great deal and quick turnaround.

Visited again today, great improvement with gluten free range and staff knowledge, well done and thank you. Food was great, I prefer my pizza to be slightly more well done, this wasn't an issue, quickly resolved, gluten free bases are often difficult to get just right, friendly staff, the owner is lovely.... Just back from Fabios . It was quite busy but the wait for food wasnt bad. Served with drinks within a few minutes. Food was excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back. Highly recommended

I have visited Fabios a few times now and every time has been amazing. They offer all pizza and pasta gluten free and the staff are great regarding cross contamination (wouldn’t put the left over pizza in the same box as non gluten free pizza, GF pizza came out on a different style plate). The GF pizza was delicious! The garlic sauce with the potato skins is the best I’ve had! They also have lovely cocktails so there’s something for every occasion, whether it’s a meal, or drinks.

Booked a table two days prior for my friends birthday. Booked for 7:30 we arrived at 7:25 to find a queue waiting at the door. I squeezed past to ask whether we wait with everyone else or whether or table was already set for us. Asked the blonde woman behind the bar, she dismissed me immediately before I even finished my sentence and told me to speak to a guy called Antonio. I went back to the queue, to be ‘greeted’ by Antonio who asked what I wanted. I explained I had a table booked, he denied. ‘There’s nothing booked no you haven’t’ I explained I booked online and had an email confirmation which I was about to show him until he wafted his hand in my FACE and said, ‘You have not booked with us, no one told you that!’ To then assert his attention to the next couple in the queue who he led off to a table. I was left standing in the doorway after basically been told that I’d lied about a booking but to have a grown man in service waft his hand in my face as dismissal. Absolutely appalling. Left instantly with my friend as I couldn’t actually believe the rudeness. Even if my booking hadn’t have come through (even though my email confirms it) he could have easily said there’s been a mistake and would I just like to join the queue instead. NOT an arrogant and disgusting gesture. Will never ever go here again and believe me, I’ll tell others the exact same thing.

This was my first visit here and the food was very good and the service was excellent. My only criticism would be the Vegan options, although the restaurant advertises as Vegan,staff seem a little vague when customers ask about Vegan options.

Came as a party of six on Father’s Day. Restaurant was busy and staff appeared to be flustered . Starters came quickly and were enjoyed by all I was brought the wrong main course and my husbands didn’t come at all, the waitress very brusquely asked what we’d ordered and fetched it straight over after a heated conversation with the kitchen staff. We ordered 4 fudge cakes that came but my husband never got his ice cream. Food was very nice but service left a lot to be desired

Reserved a table early on Saturday morning, with no confirmation until around 2pm, 4 hrs before the booking. On arrival we were not asked about a reservation so shown to a table for 8 instead of 3 liked we booked. First drinks took 45 mins to arrive with the main meal around an HR after. Although the food was nice, the general demeanor of the staff was 'hurry up and leave' After we asked for the bill and paid, we were asked to leave the table even though we still had drinks left to make way for more punters. Will never go back there again, we feel disgracefully treated, giving 2 stars for food quality only, otherwise would be 0

Came as a joint birthday with family. The staff were so friendly and accommodating! The service was great, and the restaurant was lovely and clean. They do great set menus and have plenty of choice for everyone. The food was so good, I had potato skins and bolognese pizza and both were lush. They also do great cocktails, so many to choose from. Would definitely recommend here as the food is great and the staff are great too

A Group of us came in for lunch since Fabio’s is the nearest restaurant from church. We asked a table for 12. The floor manager was accommodating but abrupt.

Yet another fabulous meal at Fabios. Husband had garlic prawns for starters and goats cheese for me. Followed by meatballs penne. Fantastic. Customer service is amazing. Will not be our last visit.

Staff couldn't be more helpful. Lots of gluten free options, child friendly, nice chilled atmosphere. Slightly expensive for what it was but we didn't go in happy hour. Would definately revisit and recommend.

I have eaten here several times now both as a couple & with friends. The food is very good & the staff work very hard, especially Sulo who is a very endearing waiter who always makes time to befriend people even when he is so busy.

Absolutely fantastic meal, service and drinks . No waiting in-between starters and main which main meal was spot on, full of flavour and good portions defo have the same again and loads of different meals to choose from. Service and staff where attentive and no waiting , very good . Here is the BUT ..... whats happened to sticky toffee pudding ! Previous it was like home made with all the ingredients of a proper sticky toffee pudding , BUT this was (as by the shape of it) a pre bought , porbs frozen tasteless dessert , and the picture on menu was not this served up. PLEASE please revert back to a good sticky toffee pudding !!

Truly amazing meal the wife and i had. Food was delicious the staff were brilliant. Couldn't fault them in any way. If your ever in the chester le street area you must pop in.

Don’t know where to start with this one, was really looking forward to a night out with our friends after having a previous nice visit and recommending we go. Well the starters went okay and were quite nice but that’s where it went downhill from there. Totally forgotten about, ordered wine,wine came, drank the wine, still no food, and still totally ignored.

We booked up for Mother's Day and when we arrived the restaurant was full, and had a lovely atmosphere, with a nice touch of mother's day balloons on every table. We have only been to Fabios once but the staff recognised us and made a huge fuss of us which was lovely. We ordered from the Mother's Day menu and chose gnocchi, salmon fillet and pork belly. There was unfortunately a slight mix up with my mam's order but the staff bent over backwards to make it right. Mam's meal was on the house and they were extremely apologetic and sent over some prosecco to us all for the inconvenience. That being said, the meals were great. My dad didn't stop talking about how great the belly pork was, my salmon fillet was delicious with a tasty lemony sauce and my mam said the gnocchi was the nicest she'd had. We also ordered desserts which like the mains, were very generous portions and the pink gin cheesecake was a big hit. We also had our photograph taken by a photographer and were presented with a free keyring of the picture at the end, which again was a lovely touch. The food here is fantastic, but it's the staff that make it a cut above.

For all my gluten free friends all I can say the pizzas are absolutely gorgeous. I had a cheesy garlic pizza as a starter and a pizza Parma for my main course. Both had a thin light base and gorgeous toppings - highly recommended. Then to top things off I had a triple choc cheese cake and yes I asked three times to make sure I could have it. Top makes for Fabios.

Visited Fabios for a family 18th birthday party.Couldnt fault anything. There was 18 of us and everything ran smoothly.The meals were pre booked so everyone got what they wanted.Food was superb and I have to say the Garlic bread was the finest I have ever tasted.Well laid out and spotless restaurant with a good bar.The staff were really friendly and attentative.Nothing was a trouble to them.Would recommend booking in advance as was full.A rousing chorus of Happy birthday rang out from the loud speakers as the birthday cake was brought out.An excellent choice of starters,mains and deserts to choose from.A great night and everyone enjoyed their meals.A birthday to remember and 18 satisfied customers.

I've been to a lot of Italian restaurants and ate alot of home cooked italian meals given that my family are italian on my grandads side.

Family meal to celebrate a birthday, can't fault it. Everyone enjoyed their meals, starters, main and dessert. Restaurant is modern, tables well spaced out, staff friendly and helpful. Rices very reasonable. We will return.

We visited Fabio’s with it opening recently in Chester-le-Street, having booked a table this was ready for us upon arrival.

Nice restaurant, nice staff, and food not bad. Good menu selection, and Good drinks menu. We'll be back

We visited Fabios this evening for a family meal. We took advantage of the the two cocktails for £8 , they were fantastic. The group had a mixture of pizza and pasta each being really taste. Would recommend

Amazing food & too die for cocktails. If you haven't been it's a must, super clean,all the guys bend over backwards nothing is a problem. We had the surf & turf & crab ravioli with king prawn in lobster bisque sauce with sides, the violet martini is a must. We need to re-name it Fabiolous!

Having visited Fabios for the first time at Christmas & having a great experience decided to revisit for a catch up with a friend. The restaurant was pretty quiet so we were attended to quickly..food was lovely, well presented & tasty however the service was not as I had experienced in Dec. The waitress went to take my friends pizza from her while she was still chewing & asked if she had finished when there was still half a pizza on the plate!! We were never approached once after eating our main course to ask if we would like desserts, coffees or more drinks !! We sat chatting for a further hour with no approach from any staff & just half a glass of coke. Then once we decided to leave had to ask for the bill..

Had lunch today at Fabio's with 24 friends and we weren't disappointed. The service was prompt, the food tasty, plentiful and hot. A lunch time special only costs £5.95, very good value. We had a lovely time.

Visited the restaurant previously for happy hour food but this evening thought we would try something from the main menu. We had starters of mussels and calamari which did not disappoint. They were delicious in fact! We also ordered a side of garlic bread which was a mouthwatering giant garlic pizza bread.

Called for an evening meal after being here last year.We had booked a table and were seated on time after ordering our drinks at the bar beforehand.Orders were taken after about 15 mins and we all had starters and main courses.The pizza calzone and another pizza were poor with a feeling they are not freshly made particularly the calzone.The other two dishes were ok - fish stew and pork fillets.Two sweets were ordered which again disappointed and then they ran out of Moretti @ 745pm.Pasta is nice but pizza s need to be improved.

It's lovely to see a restaurant in a small town busy of a Saturday evening.

Childs birthday celebration, staff were tremendous, absolutely nothing a problem even from changing drink order. Food was excepional, good selection for the specials, perfectly presented and very yummy! Excellent portions, we could not eat it all. I would recommend Fabio's above anything else in Chester le Street. If you don't like it you are hard to please or nit picking. Brilliant, Good wishes to owners, chef and waiters. Thank You.
