The Lambton Arms in County Durham

Right in the middle of town and reasonable price per room

Called in for coffee , helpful staff nice surroundings.

I have never stay in the hotel so can’t make a comment about the rooms. Every time I have visited the lambton Arms, I have always had a warm welcome from the staff and felt comforted. The coffee is lovely, (you receive a loyalty card) and the food is always beautiful. This has to be one of my favourite places in Chester-le-street

Nice place like the menu staff great seems to be on the up .

Went for food with a group and the lasagna tasted stale it was dry and burnt. Everyone who has the lasagna said the same. Would not recommend or go again.

My wife and I had a sunday lunch recently and it was lovely.Marked down as I didn't notice that one yorkie was missing off the trio of meat lunch and a gravy boat would have been nice. We shall return again and we can recommend it for a sunday lunch.

Didn't stay at the hotel, just went to the pub for dinner. Standard pub food - nothing special.

We will never use this hotel again. We stayed there only because of its close proximity to the cricket ground. The room was not nice and not nice mattress not very clean only good point was it’s close proximity to the cricket ground and the two lovely bar staff . No remote for the tv even though we repeatedly asked and were lied to about it being delivered to us the following day.

Good location, great staff, uncomfortable rooms with very dated bathrooms and beds. Pushing the definition of budget accommodation.

rooms are a bit shabby and in need of redecoration. Bed wasn't the most comfortable. Staff are very welcoming and helpful. Food is well cooked and generous portions, typical pub fare.

Room we were given was in DESPERATE need of a complete overhaul Bathroom was awful!! Looks like the whole hotel part is in dire need of an overhaul Definitely wouldn't stay here again Worst place I've stayed

I have not stayed in the hotel but I regularly visit for a meal and a couple of pints of Guinness! A nice and very large area for seating of various types from cosy little corners to booths. The area with vinyl flooring allows dogs and the carpeted area doesn't. Outdoor seating and parasols at the front and a car park at the rear where you pay £1 and get the cost taken off your first order. Live music regularly, of a good standard and normal prices, what's not to like.

Came in here on a Thursday night for drinks only. It was quiet and they had sky sports on the TV which was brilliant. The woman behind the bar was friendly, chatty and polite. Drinks were reasonably priced too. Would come back again if I am in the area.

Service here is okay, not the price, paying upwards to £4+ for a single pint -_- Those are city prices, definitely not worth going anymore.

Being a Chester le Street resident my wife and I often call in to sample breakfast which is good value for money, however we think the staff serving at the bar need a big shake up they are very poor I would say verging on ignorant.On our most recent visit we were served coffee that was Luke warm on complaining in a polite way we were told that is the way it comes from the machine in other words take it or leave it, following that we were given dirty looks and ignored when leaving the premises, we will not be back another customer lost hello Wetherspoons.

Conveniently close to Durham cricket ground. Large comfortable room, warm & quiet with a decent clean bathroom. Plenty of hot water. Great breakfast too. But take your own shampoo & hair dryer

Bar and food were great but the rooms need a little TLC. Absolutly fine for what we needed it for

Staff often ignore customers whilst chatting amongst themselves, signage for car park says you pay then get refund but refused refund at bar then told I was wrong about sign, walls and curtains are paper thin in the rooms so good luck getting any sleep. Staff need basic customer service training, car park signage needs updating and rooms need bringing out of the 70s

Motor disabled access not recommended due to steps in the establishment. I only came to have a coffee. The place is superb, a pub where the atmosphere can be warm in front of a large TV screen in a slightly out of the way place. But the place is so big that you can sit further away to be peaceful.

Getting better. It's not as expensive for a beer now. Haven't tried the food.

Lovely pub, comfortable hotel room upstairs. Location is prime for bus travel for either Durham City or Newcastle City Centres. Excellent location for a home base for a weekend out.

Would I stay again. I certainly would yes. A cracking pub .
