EDIT - Went back and now a full regular again. Lovely takeaway, staff is reallt nice. The prices are not erratic anymore and food quality has improved massively - EDIT Been going for 2 years now. We always get the same dishes. Sadly the quality has gone massively downhill in those 2 years and the price has gone from £15. 30 to £20.10 in those 2 years, 30% increase. When i checked the menu in the shop the total should have been £18.60 but got told these were old prices and online is better. The staff is lovely which is a shame but the lack of quality and blatant juggling of the prices means we won't go anymore, especially as prices will go up by another £1 per dish in April.

No curry sauce came even tho I blaintly said it over the phone and when rang back I first got told I would have to wait 35 minutes even tho the women admitted it was her mistake poor driver had to hurry back with it wich by that time my food was freezing and still tried to charge me for it wich I wouldn’t mind paying for it if I got it with the rest of my food but not when I have to wait for it to come back and reheat my Chinese again before I could eat the food the place is a joke first and last time of ordering from here! The rest of the food wasn’t great eaither to be honest never mind the mistake made. My advice dodge this place all together!

I’ll give 5 star for atmosphere because my favourite thing is walking in sober to get my takeaway and seeing all the drunkeds

Had a lovely family meal tonight! The food was delicious 😋 The Chicken and seaweed is amazing!!! It’s a must try for everyone! 10/10

Ordered the salt and chilli box and oh my god. I know it’s salt and chilli, but it was absolutely inedible - the salt must’ve been put on by the shovel load. Really disappointed as I’ve heard so many good things. Chow mein was decent. Smoked red chicken was awful, tasted like plastic

Ordered food for second week running. First week part of order was missing, but was enough food to not complain. The food was passable. The second week was to give them another chance. Once again the order was wrong, instead of a prawn meal we were given a chicken meal. My meal was a honey chilli with mixed meats. The meats were indistinguishable. The prawns or shrimps were from previous cookings, the meats were tasteless and poor quality. Give this place a miss.

The only good thing about this place is the delivery driver. The woman who took my order has a disgusting attitude & blamed me for her making a mistake & then made another mistake when sending out the replacement. Do not order from here unless you want to receive the incorrect order & receive attitude if you have the audacity to ring up & ask for what you paid for.

Most of our order was okay, just your ordinary run of the mill chinese food. However we ordered the crispy chicken in seaweed and it tasted unbearably sweet, almost as if it had been coated in sugar. It left quite a bizarre aftertaste, so put us off ordering from here in the future.

Used this place for a while now and had no problems. Ordered early evening, chips looked as if they had been refried, rice was also compacted and looked as though it had been reheated. Won't be using in the future, food was rank.

After waiting an hour for our dishes they were both luke warm and very bland and tasteless. Rubbish food which went into the bin. Have been a loyal customer over the years but this meal was slop.Will not be going back. Look else where for a meal to avoid disappointment Shame I had to leave 1 star as a rating Totally rank and disgusting

Ordered honey chilli chicken, chicken special and salt and pepper box. Food was quality and would 100% recommend.

Been going here last 3 year but sadly its gone right back portions are much smaller and the food is awful now been sick a few times with it meat is dry and tasteless sauces are weak and very watery and the price keeps going up don't mind if it was nice so we will be going somewhere else from now on Food: 1/5 | Service:

Come across this Chinese by a video on tiktok. Food was delicious and hot when arrived. Would definitely order from here again.

Completely disgusting. Ordered for 4 people a variety of dishes. Order arrived and was completely wrong with items missing. Rang to ask for missing items which were subsequently delivered but in meantime after tasting it, most of the food was inedible. I packed it all back and bagged it up and returned to the delivery driver when he brought missing items. He said what did I expect him to do with that? He wouldn't take it at first and I insisted. The owner of the take away then came with a refund of half the order cost. Insulting as we ate nowhere near half of the food. Photos are of what was sent back.

Used to be good but sadly isn't anymore. Because it's been good in the past I've kept giving them more chances hoping it would get better but it hasn't so I'm not prepared to waste anymore money. Tonight the "crispy" duck was almost pure fat, the beef was undercooked and the vegetables still had dirt on them. There are several other Chinese takeaways in the area, go to one of them.

The service in the restaurant is very good, Especially the little girl at the front counter is very kind.The food here reminds me of my mom, I almost wanted to cry after eating.

Probably one of the worst Chinese takeaways I’ve ever ate. Went because I seen a girl on TikTok eat from here and it looked lush but sadly it was very bad. My fried rice had no taste, was almost soggy. Chicken curry was awful, the meat was disgusting. Really gutted it was so bad. Parking to pick up was also a massive issue.

Was good food, but I heard mixed reviews. Parking is terrible, but there's spaces about 100yrds down on the left.

Had the duck and plum sauce last night. Its gave me food poisoning. Been so unwell cannot keep fluids down. The other meals my partner had however were gorgeous. Still using one star cause if i didnt have this problem with the food poisoning i would of gave you more. Sorry

I had the best beef in black bean sauce I have ever had, and it was delivered to my door within 30 mins. Absolutely outstanding.

Clean fresh tasty, not greasy like some

Terrible delivery driver. Driving dangerously and speeding like crazy on 20mph zone.. overtaking on corners ect. Dark grey corsa.

Very disappointing, ordered for the first and last time today. Delivery very quick, driver polite. Sadly the food we barely edible. Everything was very greasy. Mini spring rolls greasy and inedible. Chicken fried rice was inedible, rice was over cooked, clumped together and greasy with next to no flavour. The batter on the chicken balls was very thick and inedible, again very greasy. Chop Suey rolls were greasy and inedible. An absolute waste of money.

We love the red lanton but recently we feel that it's going backwards I ordered a chicken chow and a beef and chicken fried rice..the rice was the same but the chicken in the chow looked like the chicken strips from aldi..and dry and no taste at all...so 😔

They’re using Spam in their meals to save dosh, and the fried rice was all stuck in lumps.Nearly threw up, went in bin. Such a shame, used to be nice. If you’re denying it, I’ve kept some spam back, I’ll get it tested, when it’s proven you pay costs and refund. Just reply that you agree so it’s in writing. There’s no mistaking that awful spam taste.

Wudnt recommend going here over 2 hours waiting still no food here rings shop said was on way 50min ago. Asked for refund there didn't no how todo it stick up where Sun don't shine

Absolute joke, almost 2 hours delivery, rang said it had left , 20 minutes later still not here . Terrible Update 2 hours 10 minutes later food has arrived COLD . We have got a full refund Definitely will not use again or recommend

(Only has a star to post the review) Avoid this place! Mrs cheng has the attitude of a teenage girl who can’t get her own way, they have taken money from my account and refused to send the goods. They are blaming the bank, the company and everyone else but themselves. They asked for proof I sent it and it wasn't good enough because then it was someone else’s fault. Trading standards will be informed and I will take this further. Disgusting way to talk to a person who is a paying customer.

I've used the Red Lantern for years and years. I had a delivery last night and mistakenly have given £25 over instead of £15 for an order of £14.60. I called to notified and they spoke to the driver and have refused to acknowledge this. I've used the takeaway countless times and have no reason to have made up this story to the takeaway who refuse to help. I'll never use this place again.

Ordered normal chips, salt and pepper chicken and curry, they had forgot the curry so they had to come back which means the food gets cold which is annoying but then I opened the container and all the food was covered in salt I know I ordered salt and pepper chicken but I wasn’t expecting mountains of salt all over making it unedible absolutely disgusting been here a few times and it’s normally nice but today it was terrible I don’t suggest coming here likely wont be going back.

So sad to be leaving this review cos this used to be my go-to takeaway. Been a customer approx 5 years but tonight has been the last order. In store service is incredible, the girls on the counter are unreal but they don't take card so you have to order either Just Eat (which they switch on and off when they feel like it) or their own website if you don't have cash. Placed an order via their website, 40 mins late, barely warm. Such a shame cos the bait is so good. This is a theme though, if you order for a specific time they just lash it out whenever they fancy. The food is seriously 10/10 but the service when you order online is appalling. If you want a great Chinese, order via phone and pay cash in branch when you pick it up.

Not very nice food today. Chow mein in sauce was like a jelly, chicken tasted weird, ordered chips and a pot of curry and got chips n curry, and it was dry.... won't be going back.

Food was nice but part order was wrong, only found out when I got home to eat it that they gave me sweet n sour chicken balls when I asked for prawn balls though.

Love the food and hot which is bonus compared to other takeaways I've been to. Only thing they like adding chillies to dishes not normally or compaired to others. Has been top of Chester for many years shows it's good.

Always good food. Have eaten most things on the menu over the last 8 years. Often busy, but that's cos they are good and popular. Cash only which is odd, but no problem, when you phone in order they tell you up front how much it will cost.

Food was not good and what ever they put in every dish I get has me drinking water all night after it, I suspect it's MSG, and yet another business refusing to accept card payments even though the goverment are encouraging us to use cards you are expected to go to a cash point and pay to withdraw money, well sorry but I will not be back.

Just ordered £25 of food.crispy sweet chilli chicken.salt n pepper chips.salt n pepper ribs.king prawn chicken curry.the rice was cold the chips were cold and hard felt like yesterdays left overs .i dont normally complain.but we didnt enjoy that at all .The curry was also bland. used to be really nice.whats happen.?

Little drynot much special in the special fried rice

Preordered at 16.45, so it would be one of the first out when they opened at 17.30. I got a delivery time of 18.15 which then changed to 18.30. At 18.30 i got a text to say it was on route, at 18.50 still wasnt here so i rang the shop to be told it was on route i live less than 5mins away. At 19.10 i rang again as still not delivered and got told it hadnt left the shop but it was ready to, i told them they had 10mins to deliver my food or i wanted a refund. I got a phonecall 5mins later to say it wouldnt be here in 10mins as the dumplings take 15mins to cook. My order hadnt even been cooked. I asked for a full refund as my order was nearly £50 they have missed out on a big order and i will not be going back absolutely disgusting and poor customer service.

Favorite takeaway for Saturday night Will have to go elsewhere now they have changed the cook and the curry is now very bland spoilt the meals

Just spent £31 on food for my 40th birthday and it was 40 minutes late, barely warm and had little taste. Ordered chicken chow mein with sauce and it came with Brocoli in it which I thought was bizarre. Will not be ordering again.

Phoned at 7.52 for a delivery and was told it would be 45 mins max. 2 hours later, no food and phone obviously taken off the hook. Lovely food but terrible service. Won't be ordering again.

Salt and pepper spare ribs were very nice and the special chown mein was quite tasty.

The 'beef' in my curry was like nothing i've ever eaten before. Had the texture of cheap meat and wasnt even chewy. Fried rice had egg shell in it and blackbean sauce was like thin gravy. Typing this two hours later feeling quite sickly....

Ordered from here quite alot they are VERY hit and miss when you get a good meal its sooo tasty but when you get a bad meal its very bad. Last night i ordered the usual house special vermicelli (they forgot to put the prawns in) with satay sauce which was extreamly watery and had a bad taste been poorly all day today.

This is the worst food I have had.I worded beef chowmain it was more like beef in bisto gravey .You could not stand in shop without the smell catching you breath and making eyes water .There was children running around behind counter and kitchen with food in there hand and coughing .

Velly Good! Arrived within 30 minutes. And the food was excellent. I will complain and point out faults if need be. But I genuinely cannot complain about this order and delivery. For me, everything was perfect. Food is lush, just what I wanted, delivery was prompt and everything was exactly the way it should be.
