ALERT! Do NOT take your children here. Seriously. Read on:: Be extremely careful before even thinking about going to the place or even booking: Please look at their website carefully, look at the photos posted and read their A4 page carefully on their terms and conditions. The cancellation policy is ridiculous - if need to cancel it be £15 per person and you have to leave ALL your card details INCLUDING the 3 digit security code on the back of your card - outrageous and not sure sure if that's legal? They have not updated their Privacy Policy since 2018 even though we were told they had. SO if you enjoy eating out and paying over the odds for an expensive meal whilst surrounded by graphic S&M pornographic pictures and cartoon type prints of women vomiting into toilets or sitting on them, then this is the place🤮 Talking of toilets- into voyuerism? Then this is also the place - one can't even go to the ladies without being overlooked. Lastly be very careful when the bill comes as you will be charged a huge Service charge. Not such a nice place.
Family went for Sunday lunch. Prices are very high for roast dinners and there was nothing special at all about the food. The meat was poor. Very fatty and not much meat even when paying a supplement for “all the meats”.
All in all quite the disappointment. When factoring the price tag it’s even worse.
On the positive side the staff were lovely, attentive and kind. Just let down the by the kitchen and price. Also had tartiflette which contained no cheese which is not a tartiflette, it’s just potatoes!
Excellent pub. Good food which exceeded our expectations. Great service from the lady behind the bar. Let us order despite us cutting it fine near cut off time just before 2PM and even allowed us to add desert. Warm and welcoming with roaring log fire.
Ideal if you are visiting Hickling Broad nature reserve at the end of the road.
We look forward to going back in the future.
After a lovely walk round the Saltmarshes, we choose this bakery for lunch, due to it's welcome indoor seating, as despite it being a sunny day there was a slight chill to the breeze. Staff are friendly & welcoming, the food was wonderful, thoroughly enjoyed my crispy bacon in a brioche bun and the coffee was great. I also brought a lemon and raspberry bakewell slice to takeaway, it was delicious.
The carvery and the week lunch time menu was amazing. We had a carvery on Sunday which was all fresh meat, potatoes and vegetables- all of it was delicious 😋 we then had sandwiches and chips at lunch time on Monday before we travelled home and it was one of the best lunches we’ve had in Mundesley where we visit every year!
This is the third 2 magpies bakery cafe we have been too. Both Blakeney and Wells are brilliant.
The one at Holt was poor , floor needed sweeping, we were told 3 times they were understaffed. The food selection was very poor, no scones at all. We had to wait to be served, 2 other couples near us waited for ages to be served.
I went to pay and had to wait ages.
This is not the normal standard we expected from the 2 magpies, will not go to the Holt cafe again. Will carry on with the other two

The staff in this place need a dammed good shake up!!! I've visited twice in the last month. First time food took 45 minutes to arrive, even though I'd seen her plate it up and leave on the side for over 5 minutes. Coffee is absolutely vile. She was also extremely rude and not welcoming at all.
2nd visit there were no number cards so I couldn't even make an order and the lady at checkout said "Youll just have to wait wont you". So I ended up walking out.
Very rude and arrogant staff both times I've been, they are a disgrace to Morrisons.
Some of the staff obviously do not enjoy their job in the restaurant, I appreciate its busy on a Thursday due to Market day but come on please just smile!
Stopped on the way back from the coast and fancied some plain wholesome food. We had hot dogs between us and we were very happy. Nice flavour sausages and packed into a toasted soft roll with onions. The lady that served us was very friendly, chatty and I noticed she was very familiar with some of the locals she was serving and knew their names and orders the second they arrived. If you're looking for just the good ol' plain hotplate burgers and hotdogs then this is it.
Very average coffee. The staff where nice enough, but it seems strange that a place will have "bean" in the title, yet use the cheapest, basic tasting coffee beans?
Visited on a cold day and the inside was very warm and welcoming. The coffee is excellent - a large mug of tasty coffee at a very reasonable price. Very busy but quick efficient service - shame the staff don’t smile otherwise a great place to visit. Food looked nice too!
We booked ahead based on the reviews. We were met and greeted by a friendly chap sat in the doorway and shown to a table and given two menus. When we asked what all the crosses meant he said he didn’t know. We initially asked for water to start and just over half a glass each was delivered.
Turned out due to issues around 80% of the meals were off!
We duly ordered and the food was promptly delivered, with just an ‘enjoy’.
No one returned to our table, for drinks or a courtesy visit.
When they cleared the table we asked for the bill. 15 minutes later, and no one coming near us, nothing, I went to the bar to pay.
‘Was everything ok?’ I’m asked. So I recounted the issues and all I got was a ‘oh, sorry’. End of conversation. No interest. We got the impression most of the clientele were locals.
So, food was ‘ok’, but the customer service definitely needs reviewing??
Absolutely fantastic pub. We have been on the Broads (North and South) for about 10 days now and the pubs have been really disappointing, no music, gentrified, restaurant like not pub like etc.
The King's Arms was the opposite of all of that. Proper pub atmosphere , music from a jukebox, a separate restaurant if you're feeling formal, friendly staff, good beer, it made my day.
We also ate and the food continued the high standards. I had a pizza and it was the most loaded pizza i have ever had and tasted great.
They also do a carvery weds and Sundays but we mis-timed that as I'm guessing that's also going to be top quality.
Garden front and back. Can't say enough good things about this place. It has restored my faith that there are still pubs out there that are a joy to be in.
I complimented the landlady who was very appreciative. We are going to moor in Ludham again later this week so that we can return here.
Well done all involved.
