The best pub on the seafront! Lovely pub, clean and spacious, plenty of seating on the promenade. Friendly staff, very good food, three local real ales, very reasonable prices. Can't recommend highly enough!
Amazing fish and chips. Hot freshly cooked. Beautiful large pieces of fish and lovely crispy batter. Chips were excellent too. Great friendly service too. Was my 1st visit but I will return as often as possible. Many thanks Marina Bay
Came to the pub with some friends for a few drinks and a bite to eat. Ordered cottage pie from the menu. It didn't state on the menu the topping was cheesy. But I don't like cheese. But my husband asked to be on the safe side. He was told by 2 staff member. It was normal mash. After my husbands food arrived, I was told the potatoe was cheesy. And they had to do me another one and said they were sorry about thr mistake. OK so I thought. When my food arrived I was shocked to be honest. I got a bowl of mince with mash potato plonked on top. on the top. Great looking cottage pie (not) that I paid £12 for. It tasted mew but I ate most of it. As I was very hungry and have just come out of hospital after surgery and didn't really want to make a fuss. But thinking about it I told my husband to say something. As this was not exceptabale. Thought would have been offered a free drink or some money off. Shocking. Well I won't be eaten here again after this. Great customer service and outstanding cottage pie. Which wasn't even a cottage pie. And it didn't even state the topping was cheesy mash
ordered 2 mixed grills chips were dry .peas were cold , chop was crispy on the edges, the pork loin was crispy, the gammon was the same and we ordered peppercorn sauce and you had to scoop it out of the pot it was that thick, we wish we had the carvery instead.
Disappointing Experience
I visited Jay Jays Beach Cafe after seeing their Facebook post advertising a “Winter Warmers - Two Meals for £20” deal. However, when I arrived, I was told the deal was no longer available, and there were no alternatives or replacements offered. The staff seemed unable to do anything to rectify the situation, which left me feeling very disappointed. It’s frustrating when promotions are misleading, and staff are not empowered to help customers. I also contacted the owner, and although they saw my message, I received no response, which only compounded my feelings of frustration. Winter officially ends in the UK on March 20th, and I was hoping for a warmer experience than this. I hope you can improve communication and customer service moving forward.
We visited as a couple with 5 children. We had prebooked.
We were seated quickly by a friendly waitress.
It wasn't overly busy, considering it was 5pm.
The drinks arrived quickly but the Frankie's Fruit Punch was the most tasteless drink I've ever had, we order it regularly at my local F&Bs and it's delicious and fruity, this one was watery and tasteless.
I wanted chicken parmigiana but it was out of stock, so I ordered hotdog. It was horrible, it was tiny, considering the price and it was just in a cheap finger bread roll. Definitely not worth the money.
The other meals were fine but not the usual F&Bs standard.
We won't be visiting this particular venue again.
