We arrived just after midday and already the restaurant was packed (a good sign!) We were promptly seated and ordered at the bar. The Sunday carvery and dessert deal costs £19.45. We were served 2 large slices of meat (4 choices) and helped ourselves generously to the wide selection of potatoes, veg, cauliflower cheese etc. Food was good, staff were friendly- can’t fault our experience.

We were visiting on holiday from Birmingham We've had many carveries but this was amazing and the best carvery that we've had Food was fresh and hot with lots of different food choices Lots of vegetables and roast potatoes and the meat was cooked perfect and you were given a generous portion The Yorkshire pudding was so yummy. The food was more expensive than most but absolutely worth it You could have dessert included for a special price Staff were friendly and helpful The place was clean and tidy Would 100% recommend this place

We could not wait to go to Castle Carvery after reading such good reviews. For 4 people we paid £51 and we had 1 point from 5 points ordinary dinner. Meat which was put on the plate was maximum 30 gramms even if we asked to try all meats. Potatoes were cold and burned. Pasnips were not possible to chew. We waited 7 minutes to have some sauces. Yorkshires were chewy. We paid nearly 4 pounds of each person for dessert bar then we found out that this is only for 1 piece of certain pudding. For 16 pounds we paid for 4 small slices of pudding we could buy 4 big cakes. Absolutely dissapointed. Chef special apple pie with the custard was not eatable. Please look at my photos before going there. Never again . Be aware it's not DOG friendly even if they advertising this!.

Absolutely awful experience at the Castle Carvery Caister. Staff rude and very unhelpful and the carvery deck was a mess with serving spoons mixed with different veg and potato selections. We have visited regularly through the years but now it is a Red Cat owned restaurant they only worry about the profit and this is reflected in the attitude of the staff especially the discourteous management they now have.

Greeted by Callum a very friendly highly informative, helpful member of staff! We had a 10 min wait to be seated...We expected it to be considerably longer on Sunday for a Carvery. Within 6 minutes we had ordered drinks and food at the bar and were sat down having collected our choices from the Carvery which was and excellent choice of meats and fresh vegetables! The selection was all well presented! Nothing burnt or dried! A Most pleasurable experience! Thanks to all staff!! Eddie C

Have been here in the past and it was lovely but on this occasion it was terrible at the enterance there were cigarette ends all over the ground even though there was a bin!! The lady at the bar was happy and bubbly greeted us with a smile and a brief chat and took our order, as we went to sit at the table i heard her shout through to the chef for carvery she then did this twice more before he came to the carvery deck and he brought out a leg of lamb with him which we had as the other meats looked really dry ! my grandaughter couldn't eat her gammon and for a 4 year old to say it was dry and chewy it must be bad!! the veg was disappointing carrots looked old and past their best then you had frozen peas and sweetcorn the cabbage and broccoli were dry and the cauliflower cheese was minging we asked for fresh perhaps we should have done this for all the veg!! everything sat under hotlights which is normal but they could at least cover the veg with lids to stop food getting scorched the yorkshire puddings were dry and crispy and hard we couldn't eat them .. since red cat have taken over it's all gone down hill fast and it seems they are all about profit and they don't care about the customers eating experience they have also bumped up the prices twice in the last year but portion size and cheaper foods used to make money .. we do occasionally go to the other castle carvery sites, yes the food isn't as great as it used to be but they do try harder to keep things as fresh and inviting as is possible red cat you need to stop cutting corners for better customer experience !!!!! Wish i had taken photo's

We absolutely love coming to the castle cavery, for cavery and normal menu. All the staff are nice, especially Sophie she's so lovely and our children absolutely love her! Was so lush when my baby put her arms up for a cuddle and Sophie did give her a quick cuddle while she was checking our food and everything was OK! My 3 year old always hopes Sophie is working when we go, makes eating out that little bit easier when the kids get to see her lovely face!

An amazing carvery on a Sunday afternoon, delicious roast with everything fresh and hot. So much choice and you can order from the main menu too. Exceptional value for money and a lovely restaurant but the stand out for us was the brilliant service! I asked if there was any way the restaurant could accommodate 15 of us, as a walk in, on a Sunday and they couldn’t have been more welcoming. We had a short wait where we ordered some drinks and sat in the lounge area, then got a call to say our table was ready. My nephew lost his jacket and the lovely waitress took our number in case it was found and went out of her way looking for it. We will definitely be returning, thanks for a lovely meal.

Went with my parents as it local and easy access for them. The only good points. Wish we had collected and driven bk to gt yarmouth but mum believes in supporting local places never again. Arrived just after 12 for lunch no pies left had to have from carvery not main menu. Husband wasn’t impressed. I wanted sizzler but removed from menu. No light huge or desert menus available. Tried to order a second fish meal as dad didn’t want carvery pie they had to check as till showing only 1 available. Food ok but not great. 2nd visit with parents son and his family so baby could use play area. It was manic in there and far too hot for him. His hair was soaked after just a few mins. We ordered from light bites and took over an hr for meals to arrive. Which is crazy when ordering rolls and jacket potoes. Don’t have private functions if you can’t cope with them plus normal restaurant. No butter on jacket and tuna was far too wet. Won’t giv them a 3rd chance.

Absolutely terrible breakfast. Only my partner and I and one other couple in the whole restaurant yet breakfast took over half an hour to arrive at the table. The worst part is that everything tasted reheated. Sausages overcooked, bacon was inedible, tough and did not taste nice (I actually ended up spitting out what I had tried to chew), mushroom was dry and tasted like it had been cooked a week ago. Tomato looked as though it had barely been in the pan/grill, scrambled egg was tasteless. Only acceptable part was the hash brown but let’s be honest, can you really mess up a frozen hash brown? On top of the bad food, I felt incredibly uncomfortable as it was as though the woman behind the bar was staring at us and looking down her nose at us. I really wish I had just gone to Tesco and gone back and cooked breakfast at the caravan we were staying in, in California. Will definitely not be returning. Such a shame as it’s a lovely looking place, everything else just lets it down.

No draught beer, only lager.I was showing the woman 'waitress' that the app was only showing this and she took my phone from me, without my consent, and started going through the app on MY phone!!! Not only is that downright rude but with COVID-19 still around I found it completely unacceptable. What a lovely experience, it has changed in that you order at your table which the staff seat you. Huge portions, larger than I would have picked but all 3 of us cleaned our plates. And table service throughout, so a big "thank you" to David, Lilly and Brad. Please do yourself a favour and visit, but phone and check first just in case if you're going especially for the 50% off.

Where do I start!!Known this place since it first opened! Know the situation where they plate the carvery up for you! Came hear on Friday with my daughter, daughter-in-law and grandson, we all work for the NHS so don’t get to see each other very often! So we sit down and get a list to tick to see what individual stuff we want of the carvery! Very time consuming! Considering we turned up at 12.30 we thought like it normally is would be packed inside! Shock! Completely empty almost and by the time we left at 3 it was empty! Food was ok but under cooked! Then the bill came and I’m not surprised it was empty! Tener for a carvery! But it wasn’t actually a carvery as it’s platted up! So £55 later and a couple of drinks shock! Don’t be surprised if this place don’t close! We are in a pandemic and this place is putting prices up! No wonder it was empty! We actually asked the waiter and he told us the prices had gone up! ♀️

The guy was very helpful and professional. We Had a drink while we waited I had a Ghost Ship, which tasted so nice. I think this shows they look after their beer well. We then got sat down in the area near the play area. I noticed how covid secure the place was the manager and staff should be proud of how they have done during these trying times. The food was incredible everything was hot and tasted fresh the meat was so tender, I loved the whole experience and cant wait to come back again soon.

We stayed at haven caistor for four days and used the castle carvery every day and we could not fault it so clean and friendly staff and a good choice of food I would definitely recommend it and the staff are working so hard during covid 19

Visited here for lunch with the family. They have a wide variety of options on the menu including carvery which you can choose exactly what you want on it. The food was nice, my partners steak was cook perfectly. The desserts were especially yummy. There was a nice atmosphere and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Nice large space which is perfect for social distancing. Also got to meet the local pub cat.

I don’t even know where to start. The place it’s self looks lovely but that’s where it stops. Welcomed by a not very ‘welcoming’ host. We had booked as with everything happening thought best too, and was sat in what felt like a front room with a telly over our heads. Which wouldn’t of been fine but when you’re trying to eat and you have people looking over in your general direction it’s kinda of putting. We did ask to move but apparently we couldn’t as wasn’t no spaces, but there were plenty of empty tables and we can see why. All the staff seemed grumpy and in need of a clean up. It isn’t hard to tuck a shirt in or brush your hair. Me and my friend both had carvery and have to say it was the worst carvery I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a lot of carveries. The meat was dry and slabbed on, the pancakes (yorkies) were dry and burnt. All the veg tasted like a chemical from which I assumed they buy in like. The only things nice were the sausages and the gravy. But still dint make it worth while especially when it’s no a cheap place. I assume it only has customers is because it’s the only carvery in the local area. When I tired to complain I was ignored, so just left. Won’t be returning which is a shame as feel this place has great potential.

Went to this place for a second time, and it was just as nice as the first time! The Carvery has a great selection, all cooked really well. The choice of desserts means anyone will have something they will like, from chocolate cake, to a range of cheesecakes, to apple pie.Definitely recommend people go and check it out!

Love castle but not anymore, 3 30 in the afternoon and not busy at all, caesar salad was lettuce and thin dried over cooked chicken, scampi was overcooked with cold shrivelled up peas and minimal chips, asked for ketchup and 10mins later went to the bar to ask again, I noticed all 4 tables had to ask for their food, charged for 2 pints when only had 1and a half. Majorly disappointed by today, sorry castle don't think we're going to recommend you or come back..

Disgraceful that the manager is wondering around like queen bee without any face covering.clearly no leadership. Customers not being challenged, and walking to the bar without masks. I have reported to the local council

Visited without booking shown to a table straight away. COVID distance very well organised. Staff very helpful , polite and smart all wearing visors. As a family of 4 all grown ups. We decided on the carvery upon visiting the counter you could plainly see that ALL the meats were not processed and were freshly cooked joints. There was only a couple of people in the queue so didn’t have to wait long. The food was delicious and will definitely visit again.

Went for Sunday dinner booked table and asked over phone best time was told 3.00 pm got there at five to three told table not ready and put on table by door not happy. No distancing everyone standing by us then told one hour just to get up to get food. One hour ten mins to get up to get food all the time others getting told tables not free even when booked complet muck up never seen customers complaints in such a short time.I would rather be told we have no tables than sit around all that time have customer getting up tight messed up my dinner and this is just part of the very poor managed booking system.

We came here for a 4pm booking we pre booked way in advance. Once seated we were told we would need to wait an hour to go up to the carvery. When we questioned why they would have a pre booked table wait so long we were met with a disgusting attitude from what I assume was the manager. The table next to us had waited 1 hour 20 minutes for their slot to then stand in a queue for a further 15 minutes. The food was horrendous and in no way worth the wait. I highly suggest you avoid this awful place like the plague unless you want inedible food and awful customer service too!

After my familiar Carvery being fully booked I had to give up on the idea of a decent Toby carvery I then went to embrace castle carvery for a second time this year, after spending double on what looks like processed meats burnt potatoes and cranberry sauce so bitter I couldn't finish the left side of my plate, and honestly train your carvery rather than a nice few slices of meat I got a whopping door wedge.I'd love to say you pay for what you get but that would just be plain lying...no I am not looking for the management team to reimburse me or offer me a free meal for these whole family and Patrick from next door.I don't even review often but got damn this place was good once upon a time and I feel like the people in charge needs to understand standards need to change.it's too late for me I'll never be returning but do it for the customers that can't be bothered to drive to tobys for a banging carvery

Attended the carvery Sunday afternoon after booking a table for4.30pm, only to be told there was over an hour's wait, surely if tables are booked then timings should not be a problem, staff seemed more interested in talking than serving tables were being moved to accommodate more people and had no relevance to social distancing but more intrest in making money, felt very uncomfortable. Perhaps they need to look how others are working safely and making there customers fell safe. Sorry I feel the need to write this as we have in the past had many happy meals there

We booked a table to eat and this restaurant and upon arrival we were shocked at the lack of stately measure being enforced. Social distancing was not in place with table an arms length from each other (less than a meter) and tables marked as unusable due to distancing were still being used instead of turning (non booked) customers away. This meant it was extremely uncomfortable to sit at a table without feeling smothered especially with a high risk person with us. When talking to the staff about this there was a complete disregard and were simply told to move table to another which had exactly the same problem. It was obvious that they were trying to cram as many people in as it was a Sunday. Due to the overcrowding the table best to us ended up waiting over 90 minutes just to be served at the carvery despite booking ahead. Due to the lack of distancing and the delays in food we decided to leave before ordering.

We love a good carvery so Castle Carvery was the obvious choice after a morning spent at Caister Castle and Motor Museum. The pub is quite large with an outside children's play area and outdoor seating around the back. The car park is large and well kept. We hadn't booked and even though they were busy, we were seated straight away. The staff were friendly and service was quick for drinks and food. All in our group had the carvery and this was well organised in light of Covid restrictions. Staff informed you when to leave your table to go up and the carvery was served by the kitchen staff behind screens. The options for meat, veg, potatoes, Yorkshire's, gravy and sauces was good and portions were decent. The food was good but not excellent. Nothing was bad though and we enjoyed it. The Yorkshire's were a highlight as these were obviously homemade and very good quality. If we were in the area again we would come back and would definitely recommend it to anyone staying in the Haven caravan park as it is miles better than the onsite restaurant there.

We went to Caister-on-Sea last week for a family holiday and visited the Castle for a meal. The food was good, but what made the night for us was David, the Manager. Although he was struggling with walking from an injury he was recovering from, he was relentless in ensuring that all customers were happy. During the time we were there, he made us feel like we were a real priority and was within reach and responsive at all times, despite it being a busy dinner time. We salute you David - keep going, you’re doing a fantastic job. The Beaumont family

We went for a meal on our last evening in Norfolk. We sat outside because we wanted our Dog to come which was fine with the pub. Well organised. The food was delicious. Generous portion's too. The staff was friendly and the price was reasonable too.

We have been staying nearby and decided to go here for dinner on Monday. Everything was well organised and explained when we arrived. Only 1 person to go to the bar to order and if you have a carvery they will let you know when it’s your turn. Food was lovely and we decided to go again on Weds. A positive experience, we wished we lived nearer!

Booked a table whilst on holiday last week and found the place heaving with people with an hour long wait for very bland food. Guests were not using the hand sanitiser and we did not feel safe.

Bit of a last minute decision, but fancied a Sunday roast and the PotP usually delivers. As hoped for it was excellent. Almost too good as I had no room left for the apple pie and custard ☹️, maybe next time.
