Worst Chinese ever had ordered 1/4 duck we got the bones and fat and a little meat for 1 pancake ! Cost £10! Prawn fried rice tasted very plain the king pi sauce was like the Chinese sweet chilli sauce out of the bottle! Sorry but the wan ying house beet it hands down 👇
£29.40 For greasy small portions, my medium cod was small than a goldfish and dripping in oil even my cat walked away from it and large chips was a joke, if it hadn't been raining iwouldof taken it back and demanded money back. Much better chippy 's down other end of town that I'll be using in future.
I was out of my normal neighbourhood- providing childcare in Rayleigh for my friends to be able to enjoy a date night.
Usually when I look after their babies, I order an Indian, but this evening I fancied a Chinese.
Have to say, availability of a Chinese that delivers to Rayleigh is poor- there is a gap in the market!
So I picked this one on availability rather than recommendation.
The Singapore fried rice and king prawn chow mien was ok. Average. The crispy squid was crispy within an inch of its life so I would not recommend that dish.
They gave a bag of prawn crackers free of charge which was kind. Overall, average. I’d say just read reviews for recommendations!
It is always freezing in this cafe ! It’s actually warmer outside ? Not a very nice response from a member of staff when I questioned how cold it was . Spoilt my breakfast experience
We arrived at 3pm and were instantly informed that the tea room was closing at 4pm. We wondered if it was already closed as it was partly lit, with very dim lighting and we were informed that the heating had broken down, no apologies were given. The staff were extremely unfriendly and there was a distinct chill in the air not just from the lack of heating. The attitude of the staff was that they could not be bothered and customers were distinctly unwelcome as they were only interested in cleaning the tea room and tidying the tables. Whilst eating our scones that were delicious, staff were sweeping the floor around our feet as if they could not wait for us to leave so they could close up and leave. I bought a few products at the end of our tea and was overcharged by £18.00. When I queried the error I was told by three members of staff that the total charge was correct and when I insisted on seeing the manager he offered me £15-01 in cash even though I had originally paid by debit card. After further lengthy discussion and calculating I eventually received the correct amount of £18-00 in cash. We were extremely disappointed with the service and attitude of the staff, particularly the argument regarding the products purchased, where I was informed many times that I was in error. No apologies were forthcoming and I left the establishment with a nasty taste in my mouth that wasn't caused by the food I had consumed. The manager was less than helpful and when I contacted head office I was told that the errors and sub-standard service were due to staff shortages and inexperienced staff. We have visited many other branches of Wilkins tea rooms throughout Essex and found them all to be excellent with friendly and cheerful service and apologies for delays or when an item on the menu has been unavailable. I would avoid this particular branch like the plague.
Open times says Monday 10-6 . Arranged to meet someone here. We drove a good distance as it looked very attractive. It was closed and a staff member advised never open Monday. Very disappointed. Times need to be updated
Terrible service! Jumped up young lady on a power trip clearly had no concept of what subway ‘make it your way’ actually means!
Wasn’t allowed salad because her picture didn’t have any. And so rude.
Avoid avoid avoid Saturday afternoons.
Bought a steak bake it was stone cold . Asked for another only to be refused !!!! I wasn’t given an opportunity to have it warmed up . I don’t want to eat a stone cold steak bake . I binned it in the store . Staff were young and wasn’t helpful at all . On leaving I noticed how dirty the store was . Please avoid there’s other places to eat which is what we done !
I wasn't happy with my order the saveloy was stone cold n hard like it was left over from night before, and also I had cod roe it's meant to be plump and thick unfortunately it was really thin and salty which ruined it for me, and to be honest chips wasn't all that either, however lady who delivered to me was lovely n polite unfortunately the food let it down for me. I wouldn't recommend the chippy to anyone.
