Rice Fields in Basildon

Worst Chinese ever had ordered 1/4 duck we got the bones and fat and a little meat for 1 pancake ! Cost £10! Prawn fried rice tasted very plain the king pi sauce was like the Chinese sweet chilli sauce out of the bottle! Sorry but the wan ying house beet it hands down 👇

What has happened to Ricefields, it used to be lovely, I haven’t ordered for a while so I’m wondering if it has new management Placed my order at 4pm when they open, waited 1 hour and 15 minutes to be delivered, I rang to ask where my food was and I was told just another 5/ 10 mins absolute lies, egg fried rice was tasteless, chicken nuggets in chilli and peppercorn salt, no chillies in at all, nuggets tasteless and chewy, salt and pepper rips were dried up rubbish, loads of fat and hardly any meat, the satay sauce is £2.00 for a small tub, it was extremely thin and didn’t taste of anything, nothing like it used to be, I’ve been going to this Chinese takeaway for many years now, that’s me done, I will never order from them again

I ordered plain chow mein with gravy was very nice could not fault it I would go to to restaurant to have this it absolutely amazing

Since it merged with the Munchy Chicken shop the chinese side of the business has dropped so much. Tonights order has taken 2hrs to be delivered despite an hour ago being told its 10minutes away. Its cold and soggy and the customer service was just awful offering a can of 7upas an apology! Seriously?! Have loved this place for well over 15 years and this is the 3rd or 4th order since the new management and I'm afraid its not the last!

Ricefields chinese take awway pitsea orderd last night when it came after wating passed delivery time after trying bit of each order Nothing tasted nice in fact i just did not taste wright at all so went in bin and i was up with Verry BAD STOMACH needs to be inspected 🤮🤮

Online 20% system down so couldn’t order . Phoned up the restaurant but couldn’t use the 20% and was told the manager has sorted it . Obviously it’s not , she was rude with her attitude and told her we will go someone else she was happy for us to do that, bad attitude and costing this restaurant money as there is a group of 8 people . She needs sacking !!!

Dreadful, ordered @7:50pm said delivery by 9pm. At 9:05 pm it said delivered enjoy your food! I called the restaurant as was concerned, to be told my order had not left the shop and it's only 9:05pm. I was then told obviously it's busy, I asked when I could expect my order, the response was I just answer the phone Miss! I don't control the drivers! She then hung up! When the food eventually arrived @9:40pm the chips were over cooked burnt and greasy and everything was cold & tasteless utterly disgusting!!

Unfortunately I have to say how bad the delivery service has been the last two times I ordered. First time they missed a dish. Second time they never supplied the sweet and sour sauce plus all the food was lukewarm. In the past it has been spot on. We won’t be ordering again.

Over 2 hrs wait for delivery after they say be with u in 45 mins. We use them all the time but think time to change no sorry just it on its way shambles

Very bad food had to wait 1 hour for my food and they got the order wrong phones up to complain and they sent another dish out that was also wrong, went to shop to complain to find the manager standing outside was outside having a cigarette wearing her blue gloves to then walk back in the kitchen finishing people’s food with the same gloves on. Be aware the manager is very rude unprofessional and the food is the worst Chinese I have ever had.

Nice takeaway food at reasonable prices. Service is always friendly. Their ribs are very nice and I recommend the Singapore fried rice.

An order was placed at 17:55 for a home delivery and was told it would it take about 45 minutes, 1 hour and 20 minutes later I had to call and ask for an update and was told the driver had just left. I waited another 1 hour and 30 minutes and had been constantly calling, in total 43 times before I got through. I told them that two children in the house had to be fed and their Chinese takeaway treat was not going to be here for them to have. The excuse that I was given was that they were very busy, my response was if you couldn't cope have the decency to call me and let me know. This is the third time we have been let down and now it's the last, the food was dodgy at best and was luke warm. They have lost a long term loyal customer and we're going elsewhere from now on. Be warned.

Nice Chinese food, friendly service and reasonably priced. One of the better Chinese takeaways in the area.

After having previous curry takeaways from Rice fields we always found the food loaded with onions. We politely asked for less onions in our food but when it arrived the curry’s were full of them. The rice was cold and watery and the onions obviously compensated for the lack of King Prawns ( four per portion) The receptionist apologised and asked her manager to part or fully refund the cost of our below par meal, unfortunately he only offered a mere £5.00 hence I felt justified in writing this review. We won’t be ordering food again from Rice fields, but I also want to say thank you to the polite receptionist for trying.

Agree with all the other reviews management changed around a year ago food is sub standard normally bits missing and takes forever to turn up. We used to use here at least once a week and now everytime we give the benefit of the doubt we should have learnt! Don't buy a takeaway restaurant if you have no experience running one! Seriously save your money and go elsewhere will never use again

Absolutely shocking, I ordered a month ago & the order was totally wrong got charged for things I order. Gave it a second chance tonight and son shocking, waiting over 1 1/2 hours for good-originally said 40 mins, called girl answered phone said tough, no skin off her nose go somewhere else!!! I will do & will tell everyone else to do so too!!!

HORRIBLE- haven’t ordered from here for a while but definitely gone down hill and will not be going back . Waste of money the food is tasteless

I don't like leaving negative reviews but sadly my last order was aweful. We've used Ricefields for years and they have always been tasty and reasonably priced for what you got, however this order had gone up in price... which I understand but then the portions have reduced and I suspect you have to pay an extra pound to get the old portion sizes which are large.. everything was tasteless and they gave us the wrong spare ribs and no bbq gravy for a second time! Sadly we won't be using them in the future felt extremely ripped off and dissappointed at how it's changed. I suspect that people will sadly be avoiding this Chinese for the same reasons. Advice to owners would be don't charge more then give less your customers are not idiots and doing this will cost you business further down the line. I'm happy to pay more for the same item if it's the same size.

What has happened to Ricefields, I used to recommend them to all my friends, the last 3 takeaways were just not great, I kept ordering as I was thinking it was just an off night! Salt & pepper chilli ribs were lovely but £6 for 5 ribs I feel a little OTT ( however everything is going up in price) special curry was tasteless very bland, meat rubbery and sauce was extremely thin, egg fried rice was lovely, lemon chicken, the chicken was so dry it would have made good soles for my shoes, why is the satay sauce now disgusting, completely different sauce to what they used to do, portions are much smaller, I do get that though with costs for everything rising, the telephone and delivery staff are always lovely, can anyone recommend a good Chinese takeaway in Basildon apart from Ricefields ( obviously)

I ordered from this place once and it will also be the last time! I've never experienced such poor communication and delivery at any takeaway I've ordered from before! Was an hour and half late, could not contact it was really bad, ended up driving there to see where My food was they couldn't tell me where it was, eventually it came , but as you can imagine I was super angry as that takeaway was a treat for myself and my daughter and was so late. I will NEVER order from here again!! Food was also overpriced and not the best Chinese food I've eaten within the area!

We have previously been customers since this place opened , having moved away from the area we used them 12 months ago and was still good but had changed slightly. Well how disappointed tonight , ordered tonight was told 30 minutes waited an hour , the food arrived luke warm , the chicken balls resembled McDonalds nuggets no sweet n sour sauce , the chicken curry was bland very little chicken or veg no sign of any mushrooms . Half a bag of chips defo no a portion , special chow mein. Had a few prawns , very little chicken and nothing other than noodles an onion the carton of curry sauce we ordered did not arrive nor did the free prawn crackers. 63.00. Bill. Sadley tried for 10 minutes to call and complain unable to get through . Not a good experience all round sadly we won't be using them again

Ordered over the phone for a pickup, one of the advertising box. Arrived on time and is ready, surprisingly quick. The girl that served behind the screen like she’s working in Soho, bikini top, terrible! When I start eating the food, everything seems tasteless, chips, ribs and wings. They taste dry, over cooked and only bones no meat on the ribs. £14.50 for this rubbish, never again, perhaps not my day! Or you get what you pay for.

We have now tried this take away several times. We always phone the order and have it delivered. Our only niggle is that the phone line is often very busy, which I suppose is indicative of a popular business. Ordering is simple and quick and delivery times usually within 30 to 40 mins. The food is of good quality and to date we have not been disappointed with anything. My score is based simply on reasonable food , good value for money and delivered promptly. What more could you ask? We will continue to use.

Always order from here. Never had a bad meal. Our last order was for a family night and didn’t disappoint. My brother lives in Stanford and now only orders from here. Food is lovely and always fresh and hot. Definitely value for money.

Well we have had some very nice dishes delivered to us for Saturday night takeaway but tonight was not good at all!!! After waiting over an hour then having to call them again to find out where our order was and being told our order was still being finished then waited for another 20 min for the order to arrive the dishes were cold we had to warm them in the micro, when we phoned them they were no help at all, the curry was congealed, beef was tough, noodles no taste, what a let down. Will not be ordering again.

Sometimes food is great and really hot other times it leaves a lot to be desired and not very hot. Service is something that varies quire a bit so you toss a coin as to weather you go there.

Just about the best take away in the local area very fast delivery and great food never over the years have a bad meal from them and all prices are good

this place has all the usual choices you would expect to find in any chinese takeaway, we have our favourites like anyone else, but the chow meins are extremely good, the orices are not expensive but on a par with most other places in the area.
