Lucky Star Food House in Basildon

I have never seen more disgusting food in my life! I would not allow my family to eat this garbage! There is a state authority with which these are registered can i report I'm not sure that meat was ever beef! It was all green snot! The whole thing ended up in the trash!

I am ordering food for my family through Uber Eats today. We waited a long time, but it slowly arrived. The quality of the food was sickeningly disgusting, disgusting and inedible. I put the whole thing in the bin, but I took a picture of it before. I'm blocking card payments and I've also notified Uber about their unsuitable food! Chinese recipes are world famous, but you've put it to shame! I am shocked and frustrated that my children's dinner was delivered in such quality!

Absolute worst Chinese I have ever had. Apparently this is a chow mein, absolutely appalling. I also had a black bean beef which was too salty and the chicken balls were greasy.

Do not order from this Chinese. I placed an order last night Tuesday and spent £51 and was told it would be 1 hour, 3 hours later and numerous calls to the restaurant where the lady hung up on me numerous times I did NOT get my food!!! We were told our food had been delivered so no refund. We did not receive any food. I cannot believe this happened!

The worst place to get a Chinese meal. We ordered at 6.21pm on a Tuesday. Order accepted. They use their own driver. It's now 8.49pm and after several calls to the place, we have established it hasn't even left the premesis! The woman on the phone refuses to cancel. Do NOT buy from this sham of a food outlet. Absolute joke. We now have a choice. Eat something else, or wait until later to get food we no longer want, and certainly don't want to eat this late at night. Can't cancel our end either, as just eat won't allow it. Surprised they are still trading with the terrible hygiene rating which we only noticed after looking at the reviews. Unbelievably poor service. Lucky Star. Take note. DONT TAKE ORDERS IF YOU CANNOT DELIVER AT A REASONABLE TIME.

Rice was lovely, chicken curry was awful I'm not 100% sure it was even chicken. Used to be a great place to order from food was amazing but definitely won't order again, sadly has gone right down hill

Food was vile. Pork slices hard and stale, BBQ sauce I've no idea what the hell was in that but was nasty, gave up and binned everything, absolute bust. Don't waste your time and money

Okay so the food is fine. Expensive but quite good. Here’s the problem, when you order, expect the longest wait ever. Even if they give you 30-1hr slot expect it 1.5hrs at least. This has happened multiple times but today I decided I have to say something. I suspect they have very few drivers so one driver makes so many deliveries in one go. Just to mention, I have ordered at the weekend so I understand there would be higher than normal demand but….i ordered today(Wednesday) and it was still the same long long wait. And I can see that most of the comments on here reference the same issue

I wanted to put -25 stars but you can't do that I order from them and they said it will be delivered by 11.30pm but once I checked just eat it said it was delivered but nothing turned up there not answering the phone and they are not going to give me a refund

Saw all the bad reviews after ordering and got worried but arrived in time slot that was put on uber eats and food was hot and delicious 5 stars from me 🙂

Ordered various things from the menu to share with my family and we all agreed that every item tasted of nothing. The salt and chilli chips were flavourless and stale textured with barely any chilli or salt but for some weird reason they put carrot in there though. Also ordered was wings which were tiny with barely any meat but an excess of rock hard oily batter. Also ordered was salt and chilli chicken pieces that was also flavourless rock hard batter balls too with how little the chicken pieces were. Chow mein also just flavourless slop. Please order from any other place, this place is the worst Chinese we've ordered from and they don't deserve any business.

Always used lucky star regular all year,xmas eve ordered usual 2145 said del 23.05to 2330ish by midnight said been delivered on just eat at 23.05 and not left at front door.Never again using just eat and lucky star for a takeaway and looking for a full refund feom just eat.Great Xmas Eve went hungry!.😡😡😡

Ordered at 6.51pm, it is now 9:54pm. It’s been 3hrs, I understand it’s Christmas Eve but this is unacceptable. I have called twice. And the last call they said it probably hasn’t been cooked and he will prioritise it. Don’t take orders on if you if you can’t fulfill them. Still no food, 10:45 pm I take it is not coming. So will be expecting a full refund

Great place to get Chinese food in Basildon

I decided to order from here for the first time as I’m new to the area. Well I should’ve of known it was too good to be true when they said they had a 5% off promotion on . I ordered salt and pepper prawns and let me tell you it tasted as if they poured the whole bottle of salt on it. The house special rice was soggy and again full of SALT . When I called to explain I can’t eat this I was told no one else has complained and I should not order from there again .Very rude behaviour don’t worry I won’t ever need to order from here again and you should be ashamed to be serving such disgusting food to people. Please save your money and order from elsewhere!!!

This is the worst Chinese delivery I have ever had in my life!!! My delivery was late! The food did not come in a plastic sealed bag, it was all separate in the drivers bag! When I phone the lady was extremely rude!!!! And she blamed the driver for the food not coming in a bag! Absolutely disgusting and I can see why they have a bad rating! The shop should be closed down!! I would advise anyone to never order from this place!!!

Food is ok, but not to the expected level. I wanted to taste real Chinese, I don’t think I got that fortunate. Delivery was late for 1 hour, it’s not acceptable. I just have reviewed this place 4 years ago, we have been using it we been loving this place but today I have to change it to 1. I was so shocked when I received worst comments from the lady who took my order. I was at the restaurant ordered my food as usual the way I have been doing normally, and I gave her normal instructions she just nooded and yeah yeah. When I received my order it was completed wrong. First she got me wrong tofu dish. Even then I said sorry about the confusion. She didn't like it and went inside sounded bit aggressive and I called her again for my fried rice it has egg inside even though I clearly mentioned when I placed an order. She got very angry told me I should learn how to order, swearing at me. I was so shocked I simply said just refund me I will don't want my food from here and I will leave. She said no the chef is making it. Again very aggressive told me are you gonna teach me how to do my job, even she asked me shut up even though I wasn't even saying anything. And ask me to get out and don't come there again.she was showing me menu that was hilarious and told me this is the dish name learn to order and even I said about my dietry requirements she said this restaurant is not for your dietary requirements 😔 I was completely speechless and shocked about her behaviour. I have been ordering from them for last four years no problems. Does she really expect me to go there again after the way she spoken to me. I feel bad for her tbh. Even the delivery man said she is like this don't worry 😔. The food I received wasn't good at all. Never going back.

Authentic Chinese food in town, fast delivery service

When £20 doesn’t fill you up. Definitely using cheap commercial ingredients yet charging as if fresh local. Actually going to have to order a second takeaway.

Worst customer service iv ever received. Made me pay TWICE for the one takeaway. I cancelled this and was refused a refund for the over payment which resulted in me paying nearly £60 which is double what it was supposed to be for a takeaway I no longer wanted. Would never order from here again. & would never recommend.

If I could give this takeaway 0 stars I would do. I ordered the honey crispy beef and it was horrible. The beef was chewy and stale, and the sauce tasted like some sort of cheap syrup. It came with this pot of red goo which either came with my girlfriend's food or mine (wasn't sure as it didn't taste like anything we had ordered) which had the flavour of fruity body odour.

Got 1/4 duck and it was so slimy I could literally scrap the gunk off of the meat, the salad part again was slimy and the rice was hard.

Most disgusting customer service ever!!! Ordered food from just eat at 7pm delivery time was between 8.05 and 8.25 hadn't turned up by 9 tried to contact phone constantly engaged then a message to say on way , half hour later it still wasn't there so we decided to just go to there the orders were backed up about 30 waiting to be delivered ours was still there !! The lady was so rude she said that Just eat had automatically had sent its on its way which I know isn't true as I have worked with just eat no apology ! I said I didn't now want my order to which she just took it put it out back and said she'd cancel the order I will never order from here again!! Just be honest! They had a list of delivery's still flying out of the just eat machine disgusted !!

After waiting 90 minutes for our takeaway and being advised our order was on its way we didn’t receive it! The restaurant have said they delivered to unfortunately not to us! I now am waiting for a refund. I will never use this place again

I ordered crispy aromatic duck and eggfried rice. The duck wasn't crispy, I might as well if just ordered roast duck for quarter of the price. And the rice wasn't even egg fried rice, I was given prawn rice. I didn't realise this until I had a mouthful and ended up vomiting as I am extremely allergic to prawns. It tasted so bland. Never getting food here again.

2 hour wait absolutely shocking when calling disconnected calls

This was my go-to Chinese takeaway in Basildon.

Ordered in advance at 16:15 for a 19:00 delivery time. Get a text at 19:00 stating that it in on the way. 19:30 - still no food. Try to phone the restaurant - rings with no answer. Go through JustEat and get an uodate that delivery will be at 20:00 due to high demand. 20:10 and still no food. It eventually arrived at 20:15. Food is cold and not particularly nice. Through JustEat only the £3 delivery charge will be refunded because of the delay. We now have to rush dinner in order to get to work thanks to the delay. Absolutely disgusting service. Will NOT be ordering from here again. So disappointed. Avoid!

Recooked, undercooked, vile, oil soaked tripe. Even the dogs decided it wasnt for them. Nor would I let them eat it. Probably will not even make good compost. Avoid.

Just received my order. Had the platter… ribs, chicken satay, seaweed and not sure what the rest was… pile of crushed filo pastry. All inedible due to be recooked. Not fresh! Shocking! If i could post pics i would.

Please please please AVOID this place it’s awful chow mien over cooked and the beef was raw in the middle looked anaemic . Chips like cardboard sauces watery and sauce was spilt in bag all over food . I feel I’ll please avoid this it’s a waste of money I feel sick

Absolutely rotten!! Everything we ordered was completely undercooked and raw, the rice wasn’t even cooked at all! All chicken potions we ordered was stone cold from out the freezer with just added sauce that was warmed up put over the top of the lot!. Chips disintegrated and fell to pieces where they were clearly nuked in a microwave. Order over £30 quid of food on Uber eats from this embarrassment and have been refused a refund. If I could give this a no star rating I would. Vile!

Ordered last night took over 2 hours to deliver and food turned up cold, couldn't even contact them as ordered through just eat and they had closed by the time they delivered after midnight so food just went to waist.

Food was not fresh but heated in a microwave, smelled of fish even though no dishes contained fish, far too much salt. Won't be using them again.

Usually order for Little Kitchen in laindon but they was closed so I tried this Chinese. We ordered £60 worth, one of the dishes they gave us was wrong. I phoned up to have the right dish. It arrived quickly with some free prawn crackers too. Only reason why I’ve gave this a 2 star instead of a 1. The food is a bit bland. Not much flavour. The fried battered chicken/ squid seems over cooked or not cooked fresh. Chips are warm but hard. Chow mein and rice is alright nothing amazing though. I would just order from little kitchen from now on.

The food was absolutely disgusting so was the price. £5.80 for 6 dumplings size of "£2" coin served on a bed of raw cold onion chunks!!!! £6 for sweet'n'sour chicken that wasn't sweet but sour as battery acid, bland and again raw chunks of vegetables stirred into that concoction !!!! By the time I got to tom yum soup I couldn't taste anything but acid in my mouth so can't really judge but given first two it's probably good job...... The only thing that was acceptable were "free" prawn crackers that after paying hefty bill for shambles didn't feel like free.

Absolute disgrace of a “restaurant”!!! Over four hours to arrive, ordered at 6pm, crashing at the front door past 10pm - beyond starving at that point but the food was inedible, cold, bland, oily and even just having a mouthful of each dish made us both feel ill. Restaurant weren’t answering calls whilst waiting for hours, nor to receive our complaint. Shambolic, whoever owns this dive should do the decent thing and shut its doors.

I placed my order via Uber eats at about 7.30 Friday the 22nd. Wasn’t a massive order. I was given an eta 1955-2015, by 2030 the order hadn’t arrived so I requested an update via Uber app. I never received one so called the restaurant. Was answered by an extremely rude woman. I asked where my late order was and she just said not ready wait an hour. Then she hung up on me. I waited till 2045, 30 mins after the latest eta given. I called again and got the same woman who called me darling and told me it was coming and hung up again. It finally arrived at 2100. The order was complete but was not worth the wait. The chips were dried up and hard, the curry sauce was in fact runny oil that slightly resembled a curry taste. We never ate either. The fried rice and chow mein was ok. However the chicken in black bean sauce was gross and was also left. Chicken Chinese style was just edible. In all would NEVER order here again the food has to be the worst Chinese I’ve ever had!!!! 🤮

After waiting two hours for delivery , the food arrived cold and the food appeared to be lefts overs from the day before - reheated absolutely disgusting! So please be so careful when ordering from here!! Ok so I have emailed and tried to call but being ignored….. I ordered food last night from the lucky star food house in Basildon! They charged my £17.50 for a chicken curry, boiled rice and prawn toast! What I received was so bad it made me sick! Obviously I didn’t eat the toast as it was like concrete, but I ate some of the curry before seeing just how bad it was. I’m putting this out there because I don’t want anyone else to be sick, I read the reviews on tripadvisor after! Just see, looks like I’m not the only one with raw food 🙈 I only hope that the food agency will take this further!

Rude. Waited over an hour for a delivery although it stated a 25 min maximum wait. When the food arrives we are missing chips and curry sauce, we ring to get them re-delivered and that takes another 45-1hr by which time we have finished eating of course. When I ring back to ask how long the re-delivery will be and complain after the long wait, the woman pretty much talks over me the whole time saying the driver is near and then hangs up, then they don't answer the phone. The woman is rude and babbles over you so you can't get a word in. Food is average and slightly dry.

SImply love the chicken balls and the salt chili chips! My favorite. I must order from them weekly! Highly recommended!

Me and my gf decided to order from this Chinese takeaway as we haven’t tried it before. Wow, to our amazement, the food is simply awesome. The crispy chili beef and the King Prawn chillli is delicious. Will definitely come back!

Food is fantastic, just wish they had better customer service or at least someone but understood English better and at the receipts printed in English not hieroglyphics!

Used to be good before lockdown. Collected an order last night chips were disgusting and the rest wasn't that great and the prices have increased. They also no longer offer the free bottle of coke. Spoke to one of their ex delivery drivers who said it has gone down hill since the new management. Time to find an alternative

Good food but if you order takeaway at home check your order slip ups do happen especially when you order a bottle drink and don't get it

me and my friend ordered from uber eats booked a time slot and it was 60mins late we phone up 3 times and they kept saying it had left and would be a few mintues the man on the phone was rude. the food was cold and needed to be put in mircowave. never again there are much better chineses around basildon

Received curry’s beef uncooked Couldn’t eat it. This is the first time I have received a curry that I’ve not eaten.

Service is very efficient. The chefs are hands on.in delivering tasty food.. it's my lucky restaurant.

Placed an order last night (22/11/20) @ 20:52 through Uber Eats to be delivered between 22:15 & 22:45. Got a call 5 minutes after placing order to be told it would be here early, which would have been great. Sat watching tv and 22:15 came and went. We rang the takeaway at 22:24 and was told it would be with us in 10 minutes.... 22:45 passed so decided to ring again but got no answer so tried again at 23:00 - No answer again - By 23:05 we just accepted the fact that we were £22 out of pocket and no meal so ended up cooking pizza and chips. Long story short - If you want Chinese food DELIVERED don’t order from Lucky Star! Luckily enough I managed to get my money back through Uber Eats but it’s not the point. If they don’t want to deliver after 22:00 don’t have it advertised that you’ll deliver between 16:30 - 22:30.

Unimpressed to say the least. King Po Chicken contained a stray bone, (we assume it was a bone), and the chips with chilli and salt were not only overcooked, or left overnight and reheated, but included no chillies and very little salt! The crispy shredded chilli beef was tougher than one would expect with limited flavour, and I imagine eating my shoes would be easier than chewing the duck rolls. The chef special chow mein was, to be fair, not too bad, and the prawn crackers and seaweed were nice, but this is not enough to offset the immense disappointment generated by an overall car crash of an excuse for a takeaway meal. My recommendation would be that this takeaway service is avoided.

Was told an hour delivery time. 1hr 45 later I phoned, they said it was on its way. Phone half hour later and it was closed. Starving, no chinese and my birthday treat ruined.

Forgot one item, got another one incorrect, sent a roast pork chow mein instead of a special chow mein & the food was pretty cold by time I plated it up. Was happy with the flavour though.

Had an amazing experience with this Chinese takeaway, they catered for a birthday party turned up on time and piping hot, the food tasted amazing and there was loads of food everyone loved it, staff was brilliant and very friendly

Sorry to say as we have ordered many times before and had a fabulous meal but tonite it was awful.... it was not hot ... the sweet and sour sauce was like water, the chow mein was bland, the batter on the balls was soggy as if they had been in the bag for a while. The Shanghai chicken was bland .. no prawn crackers or drink... very disappointing guys .... what went wrong 😖😩
