Have been quite a few times before I felt ready to write a revue. The staff are friendly and helpful. The place is normally quiet and unhurried. The breakfasts are O.K. But the lunches are pretty poor: as the meals are cooked then kept under hot lights they are usually not the freshest-tasting. But they do good baked potatoes. If you want a sit-down and a quiet snack, it's alright. But I can't recommend any of the pies: definitely avoid. 3 stars overall. The food lets it down.

Por desgracia fuimos para una patata chaqueta un almuerzo. vi la recogida de patata con mi señora dedos sin guantes, después de tomar dinero en la factura. He sugerido al supervisor que hizo un reciclarme con su personal sobre higiene! ! Se ofreció para ponerlo a la derecha, pero no ir allí de nuevo.

Mientras compras en Debenhams tomamos café. El personal era amable y los precios no están mal. Ofrecen un pequeño menú de comida, pero me dijo que sólo quería un café. ¿Por qué no llenar cuando no tienen leche no lo sé. Esto no sucede cuando la solicitan. (No vas a preguntar). Se llena bastante y parecía estar haciendo una buena compensación. Una pena que no fue limpio.

We quite often use this restaurant in debenehams for a stop off when we are out shopping. You can get a nice cup of coffee and cake. Occasionally we have had other food in here but not very often. You get good customer service in here, and nothing is too much trouble for them. We will definately carry on using them.

Spend your money elsewhere... Went shopping on a Friday afternoon, my partner found a coat and we went to the tills to pay, there were 2 ladies behind the tills but they said we couldn't pay there as they weren't logged on, could we go to the other tills on the other side of the floor? No problem, went to the other tills, there were 3 there but one was broken, the other 2 both had customers with returns/complaints and were taking a while to sort. I asked why there wasn't anywhere to pay to be told in a huffy voice I could pay downstairs, this was from the department manageress, no eye contact, no apology for the delay. Had it been items I had bought I would have dumped them on the floor and left. Appalling customer service, an effort to open enough tills should have been made, a smile and apology, even if not genuine, goes a long way. I complained to head office about this incident some 2 weeks ago and despite saying they're looking into it have heard no more. Save your money, spend it where your custom is appreciated!

A nice convenient place for a quick pick me up whilst shopping. Staff are friendly & helpful. Food is costly.

We visit Debenhams for lunch and we came away disappointed and wished we had gone somewhere else. By time we all had our food half of it was cold. Won't be going back again. Small menu, prices don't match portion sizes. Tables and service not great.

Went at the end of lunch time and menu and staff were limited. Asked for soup and my friend had eaten her lunch by the time it turned up. Perhaps we should have arrived earlier

a very good Store,lots of variety and we did actually find a couple of bargains.Restaurant better than most in this type of store.Well worth a visit.

My wife and I recently had a lunch time meal in the Basildon Debenhams restaurant. The dinner options were a chicken pie, a vegi mushroom pie, a roast turkey or a meat loaf meal. They do have fish and a pasta dish as well. We chose the chicken pie. Nothing special about it just an average pie but the choice of veggies that we could have was brilliant. I had roast potatoes, brussels,peas, a mixture of other roasted veggies, a yorkshire pudding and stuffing as well. My wife has roast parsnips and mashed potatoes as well.We couldn't get more on the plate and all this with a double helping of gravy in a nice serving bowl. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for the staff. They were very polite and made us feel very welcome. I have read a couple of the other reviews and all I can say is that we had a very pleasant lunch and would certainly go back again.

Whilst visiting the shopping centre at Basildon on Saturday 30 August, we decided to call in Debenhams restaurant for lunch. We use our local Lakeside Debenhams restaurant at Thurrock quite regularly and have never had cause to complain. Unfortunately however, I regret that the same cannot be said about the Basildon branch. My wife went to order the meal whilst I obtained a table. My wife ordered cottage pie and vegetables and I chose to have fish, chips and peas. The first thing I noticed was that there was no peas with my fish and chips (despite having paid for them). As my wife had placed the order she went back to complain to the assistant who had served her. She was told by this incompetent assistant to bring the plate back and she would put some peas on it - what a way to treat a customer!!!!!!! Meanwhile I checked my meal which I found, apart from the missing peas, was totally dried up and almost stone cold, certainly not fit to eat. This time I took this disgusting meal back myself and complained very strongly to a young lady who appeared to be in charge. In fairness to this young lady, she did agree that the meal was not fit to eat and had a replacement meal cooked for me. This however meant that my wife had to eat her lunch (which in her words was "adequate" but the vegetables were very watery) whilst I waited for mine to be replaced. Not really what I had in mind when we decided to go into Debenhams for lunch TOGETHER. Take my advice and keep well clear of this appalling restaurant, there are plenty of better places to eat in the shopping centre. Stewart & Hilary Essex

As much as I do not like to 'plus' the fry-up, I have to say this is a rather good breakfast comparable with Hintlesham Hall (and that is saying something). Eggs cooke on-the-spot, sausages with taste, and helpful staff and service. Well done Debenhams and Kitchen staff!

Chose Debenhams in Basildon to have lunch ,although ample staff milling around and nobody waiting to be served must have waited 10minutes until we were asked what we wanted. I chose Macaroni Cheese which was no better than what you get in a tin and cost £6.50 (disgusting price). To drink I picked up a lemon and lime water as I didn't want a sugary drink. After paying on reading the contents (although it said water on the label) found it was full of sugar. Not impressed at all and certainly would not go back.
