The chips were under cooked, the fish tasted like cardboard

Honestly one of the worst chippies I’ve ever dared to put in my body. Chips were dry and mashy in the middle and cold, the fish was slimey with a terrible aftertaste, and the chicken burger was dry and chewy. No amount of mayo and ketchup could save these awful portions. Would not recommend, go anywhere else!

Lovely chippy but never open for lunch 3 times we been at 12:30 on a Sunday and the shutters are down state's open a 12:00 online but clearly wrong

I've been ill lately and fancied fish and chips and a lovely cold pickled gherkin. What I was given was fish, chips and disgusting mushy peas! The lady serving at counter was friendly and nice but she wasn't so busy that she should have made that mistake! As she picked it up she should have felt it was a tub as she said 'gherkin'. The food otherwise was nice but because I've been ill I was really disappointed by this mistake. Will I go back? I'm not sure

Pure chaos in the shop! Waited 25 minutes for a few sausages and a large chips. People ordering way more got severed quicker. Also the server was licking her finger then touching the food . . .

My partner and I used to love this place it used to be our favourite chippy we have ordered several times. The food was always lovely! However the last 4 times we have ordered something has always been wrong. My partner always gets the warrior box meal the past 4 times he has ordered he has asked for salad or cheese in his chicken burger even paying the extra for the cheese… it turns up with a plain dry chicken burger. Leading to him not enjoying his meal. Previously the burger has come with salad and Mayo! But not you have to mark it as an extra which we do but it always comes plain.

Tried one of the new specials from the chippy today. Seasoned burger patty, with bacon bits on top, sealed with American cheese. Came with chips, onion rings and a drink at a very good price point... Chiefs Kiss. Lovely service and great people. Highly recommend!

Had a relative over new to area . Decided would get chip supper . Sav chips sausage in batter, sav was cold as in freezing cold , far too many chips not great either Mince beef onion pie Luke warm And pasty very gooey , again too many chips and not brilliant . So disappointed not worth drive back and won’t be buying from here again Staff polite

Forgot my can of coke so I had to go back in and ask also I counted 12 chips in the portion they gave me. Takes the mick really considering what you pay for it. They did apologise for the 20 minute wait after though and they had good music playing in the background

Been a customer for a few years, been to collect and had delivered with no issues, shop is always clean, friendly staff, lovely fresh food cooked in front of you. Nice big portions, all reasonable priced.

Ordered food @6pm, rang @ 7.20 and was told next to leave, then rang again @ 8.15 and was told it had just left? but no show after 2 and half hours and now closed! Rubbish experience, will be asking for refund.

Don’t generally post - but this was not good - just had what was supposed to be a rack of ribs and chips - there was six ribs and they were awful- fatty and not very hot - will be giving this a miss in the future

The most awful take away I have ever had ! The chips looked like mash and tasted worse then they looked. The fish had no taste and the batter was soggy. My sons burger had a stale hard bun and a burnt hard burger inside. I purchased 5 meals and not one person could eat their food . Complete waste of money !

Ordered for pickup on their website only for them to tell me that they can’t take online orders then told me to get a refund. When I ordered in the shop I was wanting for 25 minutes for my food. When opened the cod was soggy and we had to cook it at home and the scampi was burnt to a cinder! Wouldn’t eat here again, customer service was terrible and the food was even worse

If you like waiting food that never arrives this is the place for you! phone them after hour. to to be told that it has just left. Then.a second HOUR later .still no food. Phone again to be told. . Is still with driver Its was not. Never got it. So, incompetent , refusing to listen to justified complaint does nothing Just argues, . I got our money back from Uber eats.

We have been here several times in 2023, and the chip shop has changed very much on quality since our previous years. The chips are always hot and fluffy inside. Nice sized portion, too. We have had the chicken burgers and burgers along with chicken wings and ribs all very nice. We continue to go back.

Whilst visiting my sister-in-law in Laindon yesterday (24.02.23). We ordered 3 cod specials. Friendly helpful staff and the food was lovely. Thankyou and will definitely be ordering from you again. ☺️

Laindon chippy is the worst chip shop becouse they say 30mins for delivery but it is 1hour and 30mins ,so not order from here

Woeful, hour late, missing items, the stuff that did arrive I wish didn't in the end terrible standard

Chips that are almost raw and inedible completely ruined my evening. Couldnt go back for replacement because kids already late for bed as we have just grabbed some food on the way home from fireworks evening out. Sausage in batter also on the undercooked side. Ended up with a pot of curry sauce and nothing to dip into it.

Last minute order for 90 residents. Louise took my order and couldn’t be more helpful. We were let down last minute with our cookers and had no food ready for residents.

If you fancy waiting two and a half hours for food to arrive this is the place for you! Had to phone them after 90 minutes to to be told that it has just left. An HOUR later it arrives and the driver tells me she’d only just left. So, incompetent and liars too, the owner is rude, refusing to listen to justified complaints. I wouldn’t let a dog eat there.

Ordered from here at lunch time today around 2.30ish for cod and chips the cook /chef was chewing gum and swatting flies away with earphones in I thought she is happy for one reason or another.. anyhow I got home and the fish stunk the batter was soggy an fish tasted sour defo not right I'd suggest avoiding this place whilst the Mrs trunchball wannabe look alike is doing cooking I have reported to environmental health and council waiting for a call back they are taking it seriously

I ordered chips and curry sauce, which was a regular but it came like a small kids portion, I’m not one to complain, but this can not be a regular portion of chips?!

Worst food ive ever been delivered in my life! Over 30 mins early! So the food being cold Due to delivery is no excuse. The chips were brown! Like they were old and tried to be reheated! Or just sat there! The fish was just pure sogginess! The sausage in batter was like a sausage that had a donut around it not wven touching the sausage ! Sauces missing! This used to be a really good chip shop untill whoever has taken over has no xare in their food! And clearly cant cook!

Thought we would come and try this chip shop while coming over we see 2 ladies outside the back smoking when we walked in the ladies came in and tried to serve without washing their hands!! No wonder this place has 2 stars.

You know what, the food isn't bad, but there are one or two people that work there that are absolutely disgusting. Shouting at customers is horrific, would order again but would never walk in again...

everything was greasy and pretty tasteless, but fortunately the hair in the sausage meant I was put off eating the rest of it

The food was absolutely disgusting. The chips were clearly reheated, saveloy were freezing cold. The sausage batter was just about edible. The curry sauce tatsed like a pot of salt. When we called to tell them about the order, the staff just gave lots of attitude and suggested that the potatoes they used were brown and that is why they were that colour. They have no customer service skills what so ever. If they had even had a tiny bit of compassion or even been apologetic I wouldn't have written this review. I would suggest to just order elsewhere.

Gorgeous fish served fresh cannot fault it ...........but staff need to be more friendly and less frosty x

If you like nice fish and chips trust the customers that have giving just one star or if they could no stars. I called them to tell them what I thought of their batter for the fish and the chips they had just served to me. I had taken the package back home for lunch and as soon as I opened the box it was obvious to see the the chips were like they had been reheated from the day previous batch. Most people like twice fried chips but that's normally on the same fry. So they were dry and stale. The batter mostly fell off the fish and I do not know how the rest hung on for where it was sodden wet with oil. I simply do not know how down-to-earth Laindon people put up with this. Large cod and small chips just shy of 10 sovs so families beware. Just to add when you call to complain you will waste your time as well as you're hard earned money. The language you can receive can be colourful. I will say I ate the cod because I normally waste nothing but the batter is in the bin . I have retrieved the box now and I can only show these chips where they clung to the box the rest are with the batter, binned where it belongs. New shops I have never been to I will be trying the chips before I buy , never done that or even better check them reviews saves taken out and taking straight back if as awful this meal. Update even though I have put this to bed after thinking that I might help other people on here, I just seen this notification on my phone in answer to my review. I should have gone and got my money back in person in the shop after I bought the goods in the shop in person but experiencing what the staff are like when they answer the phone and the colourful language I just knew that I would have aggro in a public place that is why they have so many cameras in the shop they are used to it. What a nonsense pathetic reply. Why would anybody want the food replaced if you cannot get it right the first time you're just going to get the same chips and batter from from an amateur fish and chip fryer. Just don't open yourself up for this. AIl I can can say to sum up up is I just cannot believe anybody can carry on going back a second time after being unlucky or not have had read reviews and believe them. laindon chippy has gone down hill for the last 3 years, went in tonight spent just under £20 for chicken nuggets and chips savaloy and chips pie and chips and drinks, The chips are awful nearly every chip has a black mark on it, savaloy was cold the pie was luke warm and the food just tasted like fat, the owners Dan and veena have just let it go the staff turnover is so high someone new every week, these young girls need training how to cook/fry even peel potatoes dan needs to go back to basics otherwise he wont have a business going forward just look at the reviews. We will never go back and i will let all my friends know aswell not to go there.

I didn't even want to give this place a 1 star but if I didn't I couldnt write how disgusting and filthy the food was that me and my partner waited for. It took 45minutes for it to come and when it did my chips were mouldy looking, bruised, green and chewy. My savaloy that I ordered was gritty and hard inside, I wouldn't even feed it to my dog, I had to throw the whole lot in the bin, absolutely disgusting! If I could upload the photos I would.

Was recommended this "chippy", I should have realised things would go from bad to worse as it took 3 attempts to hear the numbers on my card, was surprised that they said it would take an hour to deliver some 3.5 miles away but okay it was Saturday night! 3 chasing calls later and the delivery lady getting lost (despite giving details of where our house was), we then spent another 15 minutes warming the delivery up again. Still like that old "Who" song "we won't get fooled again" and I strongly suggest that unless you want a repeat of the above you give this service a very wide berth!!

Had fish and chips for two tonight had it delivered was warm not hot at all and the chips looked like they had been cooked twice and it was late didn't enjoy it at all

Lovely food the fish is always so tasty and hot and the chips are good too. My nanna will only have fish and chips from here as nowhere else does the fish so nice. Savloys and battered sausage are delicious too! The service for us has always been extremely fast.

The 'Chippy' in Laindon.. Awful chips, awful chicken, awful curry, awful cod roe, awful salad.. I would be embarrassed to serve such food and charge people money for it.. How this business is still running serving terrible food like that is scary..

Delivery took 2 hours rung shop various times to chase and after the hour it said it was going to be here the lady said I have your order in front of me it’s leaving now, so the hour it was supposed to be delivered in it hadn’t even left the shop! Second time of using the Laindon Chippy first with family so reasonable size order and solo order this time. Each time delivery early, food was warm and tasty and very good Size portions. Used just eat ordering simple service charge 50p delivery charge £1.50 and orders have to be over £10.00 you can order and collect.

Waited 2 hours for food, when it got here is was disgusting. Greasy, tough as old boots, the only think that was any good was the mushy pea's

Reasons for 1 star: 1. 30 minute late delivery 2. No salt and vinegar on both portions of chips 3. No curry sauce which was paid for 4. No bread rolls which was paid for 5. Forgot half the order and when I rang up they charged me delivery fee to get them delivered which turned up 3 hours later. Stay away

The first experience was amazing. Fish was cooked beautifully and arrived on time (we ordered early). Second time we were still waiting after an hour and phone calls were not picked up. (We ordered for peak time delivery). All of which leads me to believe they need more delivery drivers!

Said delivery would be here at 6:40 didn't arrive till 7:10 asked for the chips to be fresh as last time was reheated and burnt. The food was cold none of it was fresh the chips tasted like they had been left in oil the pie was burnt. Asked for the person to call when outside as myself an partner are self isolating no call knocked on the door

Ordered from here yesterday (11/04/20) order confirmed at 5.45pm. It arrived at 9.40pm. That's nearly 4 hours! Food was freezing, chips like cardboard. Everything was tasteless. Even my dogs turned up their noses up at it, wouldn't even touch their sausages! They never turn down food!

Keep lying. Over 3 hours wait. And the staff want an apology from us. Extremely poor service Dont order from them

WELL WHAT CAN I SAY!!!!!! AMAZING!!!! the timing on just eat was way off and delayed an hour which we weren't too concerned about tbh as it helped us work up an appetite. It was definitely worth the wait the portion sizes were amazing! Everything was hot!!!!! And my god the rock! We haven't been able to have rock in ages! It was to die for. CHIPS WERE INSANE!!!!

Slow and unclean, shockingly poor hygiene precautions given the current national circumstances. If they can't manage the most basic social distancing during a national crisis, who knows what state their kitchens must be in during normal times.

Since new owners have taken over much better food and service. Lovely clean friendly chippy kids love the food

We had large rock and chips, large cod and chips, ribs and chicken. It was delicious and knocked spots off fish n, chicken. The chip portion was great and they were some of the best chips we have had, both in portions size and taste. Highly recommend and will be going again soon. Wish I had taken a picture.

Great chipshop You can really taste the quality of the potatoes in every chip. The oil tastes fresh and the curry sauce is always exceptional. Located right next to the station and is always my go to chipshop.

I only ever bought chips but they are always huge portions and tasty

Paid by card but they overcharged me by £4.00. So I requested it back, which they reluctantly did but when I got home I had nothing but cold chips in the bag. Funny enough they were closed so I could complain... shockingly rude and the chips were stone cold. Scammers

Got pie and chips for 2 people,one was still in cellophane the other wasn't,gave my husband the one on cellofane,I ate 2 mouthfuls of mine and it was barely warm and tasted weird,I didnt eat anymore,woke up at 3am with vomiting so it must have been off,wont ever go there again!

The worst fish and chip shop I've ever been. The lady who served me looked at me as if I was a burden to her. A simple order for a fish and chips brought hatred from her rudeness. The owner should sack that lady immediately. Whilst there, she refused to talk to a customer on the telephone after he was complaining about dreadful food he received from the place. Avoid this place like you would avoid Syria, Afghanistan and many others !! If you don't want to be insulted or have to complain about the poor standards of food delivered to you from this fish and chips dump located opposite the railway station, then go somewhere else that would give you a good or better standard of customer care and food.

If I could give no stars then I would. Food was absolutely disgusting. chips tasted like they hadn't been washed. I worked in a chip shop for 15 years. There is no way these potatoes were prepared as they should of been. The chips tasted like earth and dirt. Awful awful awful. Avoid at all cost. Was my first and definately last time ever stepping foot there again.

Ordered as a takeaway a handful of times. Although the food is good value and tastes nice, it isn't worth the wait. Over the last two months, the timings for delivery time has been very hit and miss. First time, food arrived within 40mins. Think you are off to a good start with them. The next few occasions, the food was an hour and then the latest order 1 hour 40mins after ordering. They said it would be 1 hour, then 1 hour 20mins. No update was given after that until i called to enquire. I was told they had one delivery driver. If that is the case, keep your customers in the loop and consider sorting the issue out.To top it off, my partner and I were extremely ill overnight and the next day. We are the same food and had the same stomach issues. This is worrying if your customers are falling ill after eating your food.I would suggest ordering if you have a decent supply of immodium and all the time in the world.

Had to give it a star to do a review, I definitely wouldn’t have otherwise! Shocking... chips green and black overly greasy... sausage roll heated up in microwave still in plastic wrapper, and uncooked spring roll, and I mean uncooked! Awful!!🤮🤢🤢🤢🤮 Had to throw it and get a dominos

This is my second review & just can’t believe it, walked in there tonight before closing time & asked for cod & chips & the answer I got was we have no fish becoz we are shutting in 15 minutes.Good god I do cooking in an conventional kitchen at home & it don’t take long to cook a bit of fish .This place is a joke & the food isn’t the greatest !!!

every time I prefer from here the food is hot fresh and great portion size for the money, it always arrives sooner then stated , a great service a must try , ordered a variety of what is on the menu and it's all been lovely

Surprised at all the rubbish reviews, it came really fast. Had Gravy instead of curry sauce that I orsered, but the gravy was good.. so that wasn't the end of the world. The buttered roll was a burger bun and didn't actually have butter on it, but the gravy solved the dry issue. Good service, pretty cheap as well so can't complain.
