Dragon Chef in Basildon

I was out of my normal neighbourhood- providing childcare in Rayleigh for my friends to be able to enjoy a date night. Usually when I look after their babies, I order an Indian, but this evening I fancied a Chinese. Have to say, availability of a Chinese that delivers to Rayleigh is poor- there is a gap in the market! So I picked this one on availability rather than recommendation. The Singapore fried rice and king prawn chow mien was ok. Average. The crispy squid was crispy within an inch of its life so I would not recommend that dish. They gave a bag of prawn crackers free of charge which was kind. Overall, average. I’d say just read reviews for recommendations!

2 hours since I ordered and still no food. Been trying to ring them for 45 mins but permanently engaged. Awful.

I can’t rate them enough food was amazing best Chinese in Wickford food was fresh the chowmein and the Singapore vermicelli and dumplings was lovely the service was excellent can’t wait to order again

I don’t usually write reviews but dragon chef deserves this I ordered a large takeaway for my sons birthday and the food really did impress me and my guests I think it’s the best takeaway in wickford by far

Nice hot food delivered before they advised. Ordered on a Saturday night so really please with delivery time. Good size portions. Would definitely order again.

ABSOLUTELY the WORST chinese ive ever had. Duck was more than 50% fat & skin. Chow mein was pasty, chicken balls tasteless and prawn balls were cold and obviously microwaved. Theres 3 of us, different ages and different food orders. It was horrible, i wont even give leftovers to my dog. I feel the duck was out of date so left it, it smelled and tasted of just wrotten meat. Im both disgusted and disappointed. Ive been looking forward to this all day and Been completeley let down at a time when i could least afford a take away meal. PLEASE PEOPLE DONT BUY THIS FOOD. Any good review on here MUST be a member of family or a friend. We left all our food and waiting outside KFC for food

We had a take away this evening from the dragon chef, Appletreewick way, this was the worst Chinese food I've ever eaten, and it cost me £40 for 2 of us!!! Steer well clear if you value your health!!!

Ordered almost £50 worth of food last night at 5.30 pm 3.5 hours later it turned up cold and uneatable. I called 4 times and was lied to each time, I was told it was on route when it had not been cooked. The person who answered the phone was rude and hung up on me twice. UNACCEPTABLE. I appreciate take aways are busy at the moment but it’s not an excuse for shocking service and bad food. There is plenty of other take outs in Wickford that will happily accept my custom.

This chinese takeaway is a stones throw away and the food is lovely. You can taste the flavour in each bite and the portion sizes are on par with a lot of other chinese takeaways. Always hot and offer good deals too.

We're not great takeaway people but my husband and daughter wanted pizza and I didn't! I chose Dragon Chef as they were on Just Eat and had really good reviews. For some reason my order was cancelled on Just Eat so I called direct and they delivered as quickly as they could. Often with takeaways, you're disappointed and wish you hadn't bothered which is why we don't bother but I really wasn't. Great service and the food was lovely. I ordered Hong Kong Style Chicken, beef and mushrooms and rice. The chicken wasn't what I expected but that was my fault but the beef was lovely, tender and tasty and so was the rice. Lots of food - I had the leftovers for lunch for 2 days and it was delicious. I will definitely be back. I cook a lot which is why we don't order in much and am really surprised that Dragon Chef hasn't been reviewed yet. I hope others will go and give them a try.
