Visited on a Friday night, lovely staff and very fast service, got a big order in less that 10 minutes. Came home with a very nice surprise of a free sweet and sour chicken dish! Thank you so much! Would recomend😊
Charming pub offering distinctly superior steak and chips, and a variety of burgers. Several cuts of steak were available. Our rump steaks were tender and well-flavoured, cooked accurately to medium rare as requested. Very thick cut chips were beautifully chunky and crispy, with fluffy potato inside. A smooth Malbec was available to go with them.
For meat eaters only.
Excellent fish and chips. The mini fish is anything but mini but very delicious. The regular chips portion is huge! Certainly plenty and more for 2.
Freshly cooked to order.
We'll return.
Stopped for petrol (reasonably priced) and stayed for lunch. Boss had aubergine katsu and I had breakfast. Both really good. Sausages and bacon were excellent. Everything cooked just right. Coffee was great. Service was attentive, professional and friendly. All in all a great place for a spot of lunch. We would have bought some produce from the shop but en route elsewhere so nowhere to store it.
the staff are polite and very friendly, the vegetables were fresh and incredibly delicious. I was particularly impressed with the hummus, it was the best I've had and probably will ever have
Found this little tea shop and it looked lovely. Friendly service. Cheese scone was lovely, warmed in microwave. Sausage roll, also warmed in microwave, was very greasy; probably better eaten cold. Both appeared to be home made. Decided against the cake as only two to choose from; we were going to order the cake platter and glad we didn’t as £14 for two choices would be disappointing. Unfortunately the view from our table was of the kitchen. I realise that this could happen anywhere but to see it is not good- the man decided to sort the bin. He took off the lid and arranged the full bag, then added some more rubbish to it. Yes I watched intently to see what he did next. Then he picked up a tea towel and began drying cutlery and putting it away. He did NOT wash his hands. He then went back to the bin and moved it, with the tea towel in his hand. He then came into the eating area and took an order. He then returned to the kitchen to start the order. At no point did he wash his hands and he was still using the tea towel that had most definitely touched the bin. We left and however cute this place looks, we will not be returning. They need to look at their hygiene rules and routines urgently.
When we pulled up on the car park my first impressions were a little negative and to be honest we turned the car around to drive off to some other generic pub for food. The outside of the Tavern looks a little dated but we decided to give the place a try in the end. I'm so glad we did! I ordered the rib eye steak and scampi. It was delicious! lovely tender steak and the chips were lovely and chunky, beautiful meal. My wife and son really enjoyed their food as well. Pudding was apple and rhubarb crumble with double cream, probably the best meal out I've had in a long time. Moral of the story is don't judge a book by its cover, this is a true hidden gem! Will definitely be going back!
We visited with family and friends with most of us having the roast. The staff were fabulous, super friendly and a great selection of drinks available. The friends that ordered from the pub favourites option looked great and were really happy. The rest of us agreed the roast was not quite a £22 roast unfortunately. Not enough meat and potatoes and we were still hungry if we wouldn’t have had puddings. The quality was lacking for the price. All the photos I could find from reviews were from the previous owners which we had before and was very good. Thornby Red Lion is a stones throw away and offer a much higher quality roast. Will still go back but would just order from the other menu next time!
A lot of pastry on Cornish pasty, heard a few swear words from behind in an accent, but I guess it was a bit busy. I was a little concerned, the front team were good. Coffee was nice a bit upset having to pay for a small sachet of brown sauce.
I went to the toilet the corner was mucky behind the tap.
I tried to call to place an order for a delicious chicken chow mein but the person on the phone was not responding and just hanging up. I felt mentally harassed because I couldn't get my chow mein. I heavily suggest you fire whoever was running the phone from 7-10 o'clock on the 7/2/25
