The Charnwood Tavern is a little off the beaten track. The Decor is not the best. The welcome was great and the staff were really good. The food that came out of the kitchen looked really great and going by what we had was excellent. We had a Dressed Crab and prawn salad and they were outstanding. Highly recommended if in the area.

Having been here several times before the site is run by different people who I found to have very poor customer relations. Staff members behind the bar were swearing whilst children were present. The pub car park was like a tip with rubbish all around it. Unfortunately not a very welcoming place anymore. Location is ideal with great potential but changes are a must ie staff

Staff was so friendly and welcoming and the food was so good. The homemade steak pie special with homemade chip was so good 10 out of 10. My parents ham baguette with salad and homemade coleslaw was good and great value for money.

We stayed two nights mid week in our camper van at Charnwood Tavern. Luckily for us we had the whole field just for us, perfect ! The site was to the side of the pub, private and sheltered surrounded by trees. The toilets and shower block were very clean. We called in to the pub to find steak pie on the specials board we ordered and were not disappointed, it was so good we made a point of visiting the following night for the recommended carvery equally as delicious !. Good luck to the new owners and a big thankyou especially to Mark the manager who looked after us so well.

Staff were not interested in our concerns when we complained . Meal was the worst one we had whilst on holiday , gammon was poor quality , undercooked & full of not rendered fat . Chips were thin , more like chip sticks than chips . The whole operation is amateur, unfriendly, poor quality & verging on aggressive when complaining . Our advice AVOID , they need to up their game big time .

Staying nearby for a week and saw a sign for the Charnwood Tavern, so we had a meander down. It's a bit out of the way, but believe me, well worth the visit. Lovely quaint place and the lady who was behind the bar and also served our meals was lovely. My husband and I had the special which in his case was 16 ounce rump steak and mine was Barnsley chop. I haven't seen my husband enjoy a steak as much in years. Meat was cooked to perfection and so tender. Served with proper chips and peas. I had gravy on mine which was tasty and made with the meat juices. Prices very reasonable. Honestly we have been to more upmarket places and paid twice the price for food that wasn't half as tasty. So good, we're going back on Friday to sample the fish and chips.

Just stayed on the campsite, unfortunately there were no guide lines where to pitch, no fire regulation spaces between or any COVID restrictions. We went out one day on return found we had been surrounded by a large group - maybe 8/9 camper vans. One had pitched right up up our awning, we moved away a few feet to give the recommended fire break- then 2 more vans arrived and parked right in front of us!!! We were now surrounded it spoilt our break away, we felt intimidated as they were a very large, noisy group. In these times of COVID there should have been more consideration, we were told we could move.... we had been there 3 days already why would we move? Would not recommend at all

No estaba fría, hacía mucho frío!

A character pub in a country setting surprisingly only minutes away from busy Skegness roads, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and the warm welcome that we received. The landlord here is relatively new and has made a great effort to make improvements lately and for those who have not visited the pub for a long time - its worth going to have another look. Outside was attractively decorated with hanging baskets and flowers making a nice area for a drink outside too. Inside there is a spacious eating area and a conservatory and everywhere looked clean. There is a very wide range of food on the menu. Our food (we ordered steaks) were well cooked and with ample portions and all the trimmings. There were starters on the menu and also some home made desserts. We had some lemon cheesecake which was also homemade and delicious. We were surprised that considering how nice everywhere was that there were not more customers there. I am sure that this pub has improved much recently and I hope that the landlord will be given a chance to succeed. Its probably just a matter of people realising that its there. I understand that Sunday roasts are also served.

Came back here after thoroughly enjoying it the last time we came. Food was very good apart from my husbands crumble wasn't cooked. It was the atmosphere that was the problem. It was smelly which my 4 year old kindly pointed out very loudly I think it was something they were burning on the log burner. There were a lot of people in who must be local patrons as they all knew each other so we felt a little like we are intruding. Also they had brought their dogs! The dogs were well behaved but I really don't like sharing a restaurant with animals sorry. Probably won't come back next year unless it has a full refurb!

A hidden gem. Situated next to a lovely church. May appear in need of a lick paint on exterior but don't be fooled interior is warm and inviting but the best thing is the food. M eals are home cooked by Dean and the range of dishes extensive. Try home made curries and steak sizzlers. You won't be disappointed.

Greeted by a not so welcoming host, ordered food that was to be fair "cheap" but when it came we soon realised why, my partner and I both had the ribs that we had to cave the tough meat off. My daughter had the pizza and the cheese tasted foul. We visited based on the previous reviews but wont be coming back again!

On the last day of our stay in skegness we decided to try the charnwood after reading the reviews on here. On arriving first impressions were it was lovely out in the country side easy to forget you are only 5mins from butlins. The place was pretty empty so with a little apprehension we went inside. What a lovely meal we had. There was lots of choice on the menu of all types of cuisine and only £6.25. All the food was home cooked even the chips were obviously hand cut portions were plenty. Deserts were only £2.50 and they were huge. If we had come here the first night we would have ate here every night. If you are looking for somewhere to eat a really nice restaurant quality meal go to the charnwood you won't be disappointed.

Unfortunately, the Dunes Complex is definitely not wheelchair friendly. There are disabled parking spaces in the car park. However, they were all taken, and some didn't have Blue Badges visible. Once in the Dunes Complex, there are 2 more ramps to consider, the 1st one is quite steep, and the 2nd one is less of a hassle. If a wheelchair user or someone who has mobility difficulties wanted to get to the stage, they would have to ask staff for a further ramp. To get onto the stage itself, well, there are narrow corridors that a wheelchair does not fit through, and there are no handles or any form of mobility aid.

Staying in Aby village for a week's holiday and had to try the local pub. Exterior looks a bit "tired" but don't be put off - inside it's friendly. cosy and lots of character. Excellent choices of dishes on the menu and "daily specials" board - we especially appreciated the choice of gluten-free options and Dawn was happy to go through each option in detail. Good portions and served hot! Very tasty and wholesome. Wide range of dessert options too and it was evident from conversations with other diners, that Dawn would also be happy to adapt these just to suit individual requirements. Obviously very deserving of the many awards over many years.

I ordered a Sunday roast delivery from here and it went in the bin as soon as it arrived! Everything was burnt to a crisp and absolutely disgusting, I would not recommend eating here at all! I've heard from a few people how awful the food has been there for a while now but thought we'd give it a go for ourselves. Avoid at all costs and don't waste your money here!
