We visited with family and friends with most of us having the roast. The staff were fabulous, super friendly and a great selection of drinks available. The friends that ordered from the pub favourites option looked great and were really happy. The rest of us agreed the roast was not quite a £22 roast unfortunately. Not enough meat and potatoes and we were still hungry if we wouldn’t have had puddings. The quality was lacking for the price. All the photos I could find from reviews were from the previous owners which we had before and was very good. Thornby Red Lion is a stones throw away and offer a much higher quality roast. Will still go back but would just order from the other menu next time!

A fresh change in landlord and chef and The Royal Oak is back on the map . Friendly and welcoming staff & great selection of ales ( just reduced in price ) and Lagers . Superb menu at a great price point and very well presented on the plate . The wines are very well selected particularly the Whispering Angel for the wife . Redecorated to a high standard and the completely refurbed outside space will ensure this pub is a destination summer treat . The whole vibe of the pub and the team in general is great to see . Well worth a visit !

Just had a delicious mid-week lunch Traditional menu but cooked fresh with lovely homemade additions such as the tartare sauce , chutney etc. Service was impeccable with 2 lovely young ladies who promoted the village enthusiastically. Homely fire and our dogs were made very welcome despite being quite muddy.

We set out on a drive, locally, to find a village pub we could use on a regular basis for family Sunday lunches. Decided on the Royal Oak. Nice looking pub. Bar staff pleasant and accommodating. The young girl was helpful, I had a special need for a small dinner. Received dinner...which was very tasty, nicely cooked...and a lovely glass of red wine and beer. Settled ready for a couple of hours of eating and hopefully chatting with locals. No sooner did our meal arrive...a local couple arrived and said 'sorry folks to spoil your meals but we'd like rugby on....to which the bar staff put the tv on. With the chanting and singing directly over our heads, we could bearly hear eachother speak. Most annoying was...there was another part of the bar with a tv which could have been used for watching the tv...not annoying diners. Perhaps the tv, without sound. Sadly, we left pretty sharpish. With todays difficult market for landlords, perhaps you could practice catering for a 'first come, first catered for' basis. Very sadly, we haven't found the Sunday pub we'd hoped.

We were a 3-generation family party of 10. Anna was incredibly helpful in planning out the arrangements and the pre-order so that we could have minimum delay on arrival before food was served. Lovely pub, great atmosphere, friendly and very welcoming too. Food was great (beautiful haddock and chips and mouthwatering pork tenderloin teriyaki) as was choice and quality of food for the children. Food was served bang on time - thank you, that is such a big help with young children in the party. Lovely selection of wine and beers and luscious dessert menu. Fabulous time enjoyed by all. Many thanks to the staff. Definitely recommended.

We were just passing through Naseby after visiting the Naseby Antiques and Vintage Fair and stumbled upon The Royal Oak. Very friendly staff were extra accommodating and the Sunday Lunch is excellent. Macaroni Cheese puree is a piece of genius, Yorkshire puddings were ginormous and the gravy was bomba. All in all 5 ⭐. Naseby locals you are very lucky.

Came today for Sunday lunch, they were packed but managed to fit us in as a walk in. The cauliflower puree is worth a visit in itself. It is a dish on its own right. As always, the staff were amazing. Warm and friendly and make you feel like family. Support this pub, as we’re lucky to have it 🙏🏻

I’m not the biggest fan of a Sunday roast, but I certainly am at The Royal Oak, it’s delicious! We visited for Mother’s Day and were made very welcome. Fantastic roast dinners and lots of options for the children too. Service great, as ever. Highly recommend.

As it was my birthday, it was my choice of where to eat and I couldn't think of anywhere that was cosier or more welcoming that I'd rather go to. The fire is burning, the candles are lit and the food is ready. We had a lovely meal, freshly prepared and really delicious. I had pollock steak, husband had steak and we had sticky toffee pudding and tarte tatin for pudding. Thoroughly recommended!

Would pick to eat here over anywhere! The food is amazing, the staff are super friendly and the overall feel of the pub is great! We even had our Christmas dinner here this year which was equally as amazing. Never had a bad experience and will always recommend to anyone no matter what the occasion!

Best Sunday roast I have eaten in a long time! The beef was unbelievable and all other dinners were just as lovely. They also told us the beef was served pink and asked if this was ok as if not, they’d cook it to our liking. Really glad as my husband can’t eat it like that and so changed his beef for more well done. Service was brilliant and staff are friendly and welcoming. We went back again Christmas Eve because we enjoyed it so much. There was 10 of us first time and 13 the second, and all the food came out together and every one of us thoroughly enjoyed it. Can’t recommend highly enough.

The Royal Oak is a great place to eat if you love good food! Good menu - lovely burrito, fig, walnut starter, delicious smoked belly pork lead melt in the mouth. Others had seasonal roast turkey, which was apparently also delicious. Nice decor (not over-the-top) with plenty of nooks for diners and a friendly atmosphere. So, a friendly manager, nice staff, good chef. Our family members travelled from Worcester, Birmingham and Cambridge We will be back regularly for family meet-ups here. The Royal Oak was a great find. Thank you.

Booked a table of 17 for Sunday lunch to celebrate a family birthday. Due to size of our party we were asked to pre order which was easy to do. On the day some of the guests decided they wanted to add a starter which was not a problem. We all thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and would highly recommend. Lovely atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, great food and drink. Thank you

Ate here last night (21/8/2023) and had an excellent plate of haddock and chips, minted peas and a very nice tartare sauce. Being an old guy(74 last month) I have eaten a lot of fish & chips over the years and last nights meal would rate in my top three all time list. Really good fish in a beer batter and very tasty chips. Service was also very good, the young ladies were both friendly and efficient and the beer was good as well - I highly recommended the Royal Oak as a refuelling stop if you’re in the area.

Excellent meal, I had the Scotch Egg starter with the Tomahawk Pork chop. Both were excellent, really tasty and presented well. My wife had the Vegan Chilli Nachos to start and then the Pepper Crusted Tuna Loin, really delicious. It's good to see this pub going from strength to strength since Anna and Seth have taken over just over a year ago.

This is a lovely pub with a great ambience; a good balance between country rustic and modern. The service was also excellent with the girls serving the tables very polite, friendly and efficient. However this was my first visit to The Royal Oak and I was a little disappointed in some aspects of the food. I had the vegetarian roast and while the mushroom and cheddar wellington was delicious, the roast potatoes were very dry and almost seemed to have been reheated. Another member of our party had the beef and was disappointed to find that it was not pink at all, having been slightly overcooked. The accompanying vegetables were very good aside from the rather strange cauliflower cheese puree which none of us enjoyed. The desserts and coffees were delicious. We will return, I'm sure, and hopefully will find the food more consistently well prepared.

I was looking to find somewhere to stop on a long journey home and came across this pub after a quick google search, the reviews looked good and was relieved I did not need to book. I tried other places but they were fully booked and this looked a nice place to rest up. Having been here can see why booking wasn't needed for a table the drinks are over priced its not a city but the food seemed a good price which did not make sense ? When I commented to a nice old gentleman he said with a laugh I should have tried the truck stop ?? The young staff were really nice but there was no real atmosphere or hurry to ask us if we needed anything. The menu was interesting but I don't feel it matched up to the end product. I was too tired to complain just relieved to have found somewhere but I think the owner needs to make some improvements on drinks prices and food that matches the menu

Visited The Royal Oak for Sunday lunch and had the best roast beef dinner we have had for a very long time! The roast beef was what I would call "proper beef" cooked to perfection. The vegetables were fresh not frozen and again cooked perfectly. We were so impressed with the meal that we recommended the roast beef to another couple, which they ordered, and agreed that it was superb. The staff were lovely and bubbly and very courteous. We will be back. Thank you.

Very friendly man frying and serving the food. The shop smelled of stale oil. Flies in one of the light fittings. It's really scruffy and in need of refurbishment. The food just tasted unpleasant. It will be an idea for the owners of this fish and chip shop to visit The Trawler in Daventry to see how a business of this sort could be.

Dining at our village pub gets better and better - there’s always a warm welcome and Sunday lunch is a favourite when the family gets together. My roast beef was beautifully cooked, the vegetables were spot on, with Yorkshires and roast potatoes that went down a treat … with plenty of gravy (important for my lot!). Our thanks to Ellie and her friendly team.
