The best restaurants in South Kesteven East Midlands

We had a takeaway from Sassis on the11/04/25 it was by far the best takeaway we have had in Bourne since we returned 15 months ago. We have eaten at most of the restaurants here in Bourne during this time and they have all been rather underwhelming including 2 or 3 visits to Sassis under the previous management these were perhaps the most disappointing as while the food was pleasant enough as far as we were concerned it was just above average Chinese food. We went to Sassis on Friday as we had seen it had changed hands and were keen to give it another try. Our first question to the new owners was do you do jungle curry and we we very pleasantly surprised to hear that they could do this item so we ordered this with another off menu item and hoped to be pleasantly surprised. I got home with our order and opened up the dishes and was immediately pleased to see the food looked and smelled exactly as I was hoping for. However when we actually got down to eating it we were blown away it was not just the best takeaway we have had in Bourne but one of the best meals we have enjoyed in a very long time. We cannot praise the new owners enough for the excellent food we enjoyed. This is Thai food as we know it and have eaten at many Thai restaurants in the past. We will be regular customers in the future.

Whether you’re into your wine or a wine novice, No14 have an incredible selection, served in a warm & welcoming atmosphere. The wonderful couple that run this bar are incredibly informative about their wines and help educate without overwhelming. The food matches the sophistication of this place. By far our favourite place in Stamford - a real hidden gem!

Went in on spec on a busy weekday morning. There were plenty of people in the place but as we approached an empty table to see what the notice on it said, a thoroughly unpleasant and unwelcoming young member of staff snarled 'it's reserved, there's room upstairs'. I commented 'wow, what a welcome'. We duly went upstairs and when mentioned to the same member of staff that we were ready to order she snipped back 'there are two more people to take orders from before you'. We duly left. What an ungracious, unsophisticated young woman. To behave like that at work, presumably with her employer's blessing, beggars belief. No care, no flair, no manners, no panache. There are plenty other wonderful places to have a coffee in Stamford, we will patronise them from now on. In mentioning our experience to a neighbour locally she commented she'd experienced similar. What a shambles Fika, come on managers and get this all changed round.

Don’t go here to eat , poor food , small portions and barking customers dogs and no taste to food ,chewy , over cooked and expensive for what you get never again

very nice settlement on prices i would highly recommend this place because it was truly magnificent flavors.

Lots of eating opportunities left and right of the micro pub. Simply an admirable place to discover ales - it has a good range and now that it has such a large following, there are plenty on offer at a very reasonable £4 a pint ( June 2024). What better than get an Indian delivered and eat that with the beers. Fabulous. Special days out around the area makes it a very sociable place

The service was the best thing about this restaurant. I love spicy food however after ordering the jalfrazi I could not eat my meal, it was too hot, my mouth was suffering and it was not enjoyable as I couldn't eat it. At no point during my meal did anyone asked if the food was OK either.

Not bad food, decent prices, friendly staff. Still call it the Goose, mind.

Absolutely fantastic fish and chips. Best in the midlands. Lovely staff and atmosphere.

It was a surprise lunch for me from my lovely friend who drove me all the way to Stamford especially to take me out for lunch at the cozy club and for me to photograph the town afterwards. It was lovely walking in … what a lovely environment and beautifully decorated too and very welcoming staff. We had a nice table and had a fabulous meal together. Thank you so much. My 12 year old son brought a regular Chips for £3.50 yesterday Friday the 9th of may. Only to find a small black hair amongst the pricey chips. Not only that at least half the chips had black in them.

Ruth, but also the entire team have been wonderful hosts. We were guests from Germany in the UK for a business trip and were positively surprised about the hospitality, friendliness and warmth of the Britons. Thank you for the pleasant accommodation. We felt very much at home.
