Food was excellent! Dropped in here with my parents for dinner, wasn’t expecting much tbh, but boy was I surprised, the food was outstanding! We ordered the mixed starters first and they were decent enough, but the main courses were fabulous! We had red curry with duck (meat was succulent, sauce spicy but not overpoweringly so) , stir fried duck in tamarind sauce, - wonderful, stir fried duck in oyster (we like duck!) wonderful. We washed it down with a very reasonably priced and more than passable bottle of house white (Hardy’s Sauvignon blanc). We were served by Sassi (the owner?) who was a delight. All in all I can thoroughly recommend this restaurant and when I’m next in the area I will definitely be back!

Came with some friends for dinner. Food was lovely but on this visit I did have a couple of moans. The food as delicious as it was did seem to be very short of meat in all our dishes. I think I counted 6 small pieces of chicken in one dish. The other one didn’t have a lot more. For the price of the dishes I would have expected more protein. They all seemed short staffed and wasn’t as good as my last visit unfortunately.

My first visit to Sassi to try their Thai food. Service was mixed as although the young people conducting the waiting were pleasant they were not particularly efficient having firstly went off then came back to be reminded of our order then still bringing the wrong dishes. However once we got our food it proved to be very tasty, authentic and very enjoyable. Anyone can make a mistake so we will return on the strength of the food that is extremely flavoursome but this review would have been a 5 if the waiting had been more professional.

Our first time eating Thai. A small menu but with something for all tastes including vegetarian. The food is well presented although it took a little time to get all the starters and we were only a table of four and it wasn't busy. Our plates arrived and were presumed to be hot but then it took a while before the food was served. it was warm enough to eat but could have been hotter. the portion size was a little small too. The flavours and quality of the food though was excellent.

Visited on a Friday evening and was surprised by how few people dined while we were there. We shared four mains between us plus starters and rice. The food we had was lovely but the portion size very disappointing. One of our mains was an aubergine dish and served on the smallest plate ever. Lovely flavours but left feeling hungry which isn’t ideal. The only dish that was a seasonable portion size was a Pad Thai.

We had a takeaway last year & were disappointed then but thought we’d try again. We ordered by the appropriate numbers on the menu but instead of getting prawns in tamarind sauce (57) we got sweet & sour prawns (60), a dish we didn’t want as one of our other dishes was sweet & sour chicken. We did contact Sassis to let them know but the lady disputed it, which was very disappointing as we knew what we’d ordered! Be aware that there are mushrooms in nearly everything, I guess to fill the dishes out & also the chicken in the sweet & sour was minimal & cut so small. On a positive it was tasty but could be better for the money.

We have tried a takeaway before and not been impressed but, having read all the great reviews recently, we decided to try the restaurant. We had 2 starters and 2 main courses. We were asked to order by the number of the dish on the menu rather than by the name of the dish. Many of the drinks on the menu were unavailable. The meat in 3 of the dishes was overcooked - dry and quite hard. The Thai fish cakes were gelatinous and tasted like fish paste. I may have been over generous in giving this a 3 star review on reflection; we definitely won’t be returning.

Had a take-away from here recently. None of our meals were freshly cooked; i had rung in the order an hour before collection so guess they cooked it straightaway and then left it standing. Noodles were mushy; none of the veg were crisp; the beef was that horrible re-constituted stuff; the spring roll were tiny and burnt; al of it was merely warm, not hot. Would have been far better getting ready meals from Lidl and doing ourselves in the microwave; tastier, fresher and far cheaper.

We've undoubtedly found a new favorite Thai restaurant for the future. FOOD fantastic choice of dishes, far more than we are used to, to the point we struggled to choose our main dishes. We played it safe & choose Thai green curries but next time we will certainly try something else. So many appertising dishes to try in future. SERVICE was spot on, not quick but very helpful & nothing was too much trouble. We will certainly go back in the future & can't wait.

Booked this late on Friday, for Saturday night. Our first visit to Sassi's, and a bit worried as there was no issue, plenty of space for 4. We arrived on time and taken straight to our table. The prawn crackers arrived whilst we deliberated over the menu. Written in Thai (with clear descriptions beneath). We had a mixture of starters and main courses, these included, Thai chicken cakes, deep fried crab, Stir fried mushroom with cashew nuts, chicken stir-fry with oyster sauce and of course a Thai Green Curry. Additions of jasmine rice, noodles and stir-fry veg. 4 bottles of London Pride, a G&T; and a soda later and we asked for the bill. Under £85, for 4 people including drinks. Cannot understand why Sassi's isn't packed. The service was great, not too much and was only asked about the food or drink when we were between eating and talking. A GEM of a place.

We had sweet corn cakes, Beef Massamam, Moo Pad Ped and the food was absolutely gorgeous very authentic, our only critic was we would have liked a few more cashews in the massamam! and the time it took for delivery out in Haconby a few miles away, 1 hour rather than 45 mins which on a busy Friday is perhaps expected, we warmed up our food in the microwave.

Having lived in Bourne for 5 years now and never been to Sassis, tonight I had my first Thai meal. The restaurant has a relaxed and clean atmosphere, the staff were quick to serve, polite, and helpful with our questions. Starters were prawn/chicken toast, and a spiced minced chicken thing, both with a sweet chilli sauce. I couldn't begin to remember their real names! Main courses of a chicken in garlic and pepper sauce, prawn pad thai, and a mild pork curry with coconut rice. Everything was hot, served quickly, and SO full of taste. The portions were perfect. With 2 beers, the bill came to under £40, well worth it! We left with a take away menu as this place will be seeing repeat custom aplenty!

People of Bourne should give this restaurant a try. Some other reviews say that there is no atmosphere, this might be because it's an open plan environment, but its people that make atmosphere. so if more people gave this great little restaurant a go then the atmosphere would be better. The food is fresh, flavoursome, everything that Thai food should be! It is not overpriced - a meal for two last night was £40 including a bottle of Wine. We had two starters (crab cakes yum, yum) two mains and rice and noodles. This is our second visit and we will be back again and will keep trying to encourage more local people to give it a try. We ate at Sassi's this week for the first time, having previously ordered an excellent take-away from them. The restaurant is rather stark and yet the staff very welcoming, although we were the only ones there bar one lone diner. We settled in, made our order and waited. Our Chang Chinese beer arrived, but we were shocked to find that having paid £3.30 each that this was for less/similar to half a pint - £6.60 a pint! Our group was four adults and a four year old (very little suitable for her...) so we'd gone for four main dishes and two sides with a couple of starters. The starters were about £3.50/£4.00 each, one of them constituted three very small chicken wings, the others were of more generous proportions. The bottom line is that the meal was absolutely EXCELLENT in terms of taste and variety; it was nonetheless HUGELY over-priced. For example, over £9.00 for a duck main dish that would've been small even if a starter for two. Would we go back? I am afraid not, it was way too expensive. We may, however, get another take-away as this was far better value. We left feeling very happy with the taste of the food, but with the bitter taste of having paid the maximum amount of money for the minimum amount of food.

Although the inside is a little star and functional, the staff and music provided us with a very intimate feel. The food choices are excellent with a range of great choices for the meat eaters and veggies alike. I plumped for a wonderful tofu dish, noodles and Jasmine rice and my wife ordered a duck dish and share the accompaniments. Can't say how great the tastes were. For a moment I was back in Thailand. Absolutely lovely. Also, when the bill came it was cheaper than anywhere else we gave visited in Bourne. I have watched Sassi's change and evolve over the past year or two and move from a snack bar/ fast food establishment into a pure Thai restaurant now. However, although I have eaten everywhere in Bourne, often several times over the past 10 years, I had never eaten here. Not until last week that is and what a suprise. The decor is almost there, if not outright Thai still comfortable and pleasant. The welcome we received and the service there after was warm, friendly and knowledgable. I think it may have been Sassi herself but she was lovely. She gave suggestions on dishes and which went best with what. Not Thai experts but we thought there were innovative and interesting options which were a welcome change to the same old bland Chinese food served in other Chinese restaurants in town. The food arrived quickly and was delicious, absolutely delicious, both starter and main. Perhaps the take away experience isn't as good based on a couple of reviews, I don't know, but our meal was faultless.I can't understand why it isn't far far busier, it's great value, 2 courses plus beer and wine for less than £20 a head. we will certainly be going back and going back soon.

Delivery was pretty quick so no problem there, although as in Morton ( not that far ) there was an extra £2 delivery charge. I am afraid that neither of us were over exited by the food. The flavours were a bit weak and after several holidays to Thailand I think we know our Thai food. It is a pity as we were so glad to have discovered a Thai restaurant in Bourne. Having read the excellent reviews about this restaurant and its take-away meals I thought I would give it a try. I ordered 2 x Massaman chicken curries and 1 x green curry all with coconut rice and some spring rolls and sweetcorn fritters all to take-away. The curries were all chicken with a very thin liquid sauce and we had to leave it in the containers to eat it otherwise it would have soaked into the rice. The green curry was far too hot compared to the ones I have eaten in the past, the 6 tiny spring rolls were overpriced and so were the 3 sweetcorn fritters. Unfortunately I have been put off eating in the restaurant or having another take-away. Such a shame as it is the only Thai restaurant in the area. Nothing wrong with the service, but then I was the only person eating in, the large coke was also very fairly priced as most places rip you off so good on you. However, could have done without the guy drilling in the back room (hope it wasn't the kitchen) throughout my meal. Struggled to understand no Thai fish cakes on the menu! I am out of the area on business (hence eating alone, yes I have mates!) and was drawn in by the classy look outside, sadly the taste did not deliver, no red chilli in the red curry.. A little expensive at £28 for the above including only 2 drinks but it was good to try somewhere different in the town. Would go again.

Isn't it odd how different people's views are? I know food is a subjective thing but the last reviewer's comments are so at odds with almost all the others, and with our own experience, that you wonder how that happens. Anyway, everyone's entitled to their opinion, and this is ours.We went as a party of 6 on Saturday evening. Other reviewers had almost universally said that the food was great but some had reservations about the place itself. To deal with the latter point we found the decor and atmosphere absolutely fine. If anything it's quite modern and sophisticated, and perhaps that's what takes people by surprise because it's not typical of oriental restaurants in the UK. We liked it.As for the food we all loved everything we ate: starters, mains, rice, noodles, the lot. Being a party of 6 we tried quite a few dishes between us and there were no duds at all. Helpfully the menu is marked with ratings of how hot everything is so you can easily pick something for everyone's taste heat-wise. Service was efficient and friendly, and the bill, including 2 drinks each (a mix of wines, beers and spirits), came to under £20 a head. We thought it was terrific value and will definitely be back.Come on you Bourne residents. Get behind this terrific little place. Use it or lose it.

we live in Bourne and have seen the rave reviews on this place, so we decided to get a takeaway, it cost a lot of money we thought for the little we ordered and it was so bland, no taste at all, the prawn crackers tasted stale and the beef was chewy. we wont be going back! I cant understand how the reviews are so good.

We ate at Sassi's on Saturday night and had a really lovely experience. We were late in planning our evening and were lucky (and surprised) to find the restaurant very quiet. All of our starters were delicious (you make the best prawn toasts!)and set the standard high for the main course. We were not disappointed! We had four different choices with a range of 'heat'. All were really tasty. There was no problem in dealing with my daughter's food requests - and suggestions offered were really helpful.I find it a little sad that the restaurant was so quiet on a Saturday night, people of Bourne you are missing a real treat!

If you have eaten authentic Thai food in the suburbs of Bangkok, Sassi's could look familiar. At the moment it is all about the food, without too much concern over the decor. I'm sure the place would be much busier if it was made to feel like the sort of Thai restaurant British people have come to expect. The food is great and similar to meals I've had in Thailand. The staff are friendly and it's good value. I'd suggest you sample their takeaway service first and if you like the food, book a table and eat in. Bourne will benefit from a new place to eat and if it gets a design makeover it should thrive. I will continue to eat there, regardless of its appearance.

We supported our local Thai restaurant on a Friday night. Given the quality and value of the food, it was disappointing to see the restaurant quite empty; 4 of us had two courses and drinks for under £80.The chicken cakes with a sweet chilli dip for starters were excellent. We all had different main courses and the sauces they were cooked in were all full of flavour; very authentic Thai. A better ambiance about the place could be created with relative ease; soften the lighting, add a few candles/flowers to tables, and partition off the take-away area.We wish sassi's luck, as Bourne needed something that isn't Chinese or Indian

Very friendly staff and flavorsome food, came with my husband for a meal and we both very much enjoyed it, a little over priced on drinks, but i guess that's where they make most of there money.

Intro:This is a continuation in effect from my previous review and is really an update in respect to the delivery service and quality of food experienced outside the restaurant.Delivery:Called it in at approx 5:30pm. Quoted 20-30mins. He was not wrong! Rapido! 20 mins on the nose. As for the previous review that was quoting 1hr 40mins, all I can say is that must have been an unfortunate busy time and special circumstance. My previous delivery times experienced from Sassis have ALL been no longer than 30 mins. In anyone's book, this is quick and is about the fastest I have experienced in Bourne. Well done Sassis! Additionally, the gentleman delivering goods was very polite with a genuine smile on his face. This makes a nice change from some of the delivery guys I have experienced. I'm sure you'll agree?Quality:What can I say, excellent! As good and as hot (temp) as in restaurant. Enough said. Conclusion:Eat in, get take away or have it delivered, either way a fantastic tasty meal ticking all the right boxes. Well done Sassi's, keep it up. 10 out of 10.

Everything cooked perfectly and you can tell the ingredients are of the best quality. Our experience at the restaurant again was great with fantastic service and good food. We ate here last night as we both love Thai food, but we didn't think there was anywhere local that was good. We came here with family and the food was excellent, we have been to Thailand and the food was almost as good as being there. The Red & Green Thai curries were delicious. The surroundings are a little different, but don't let that put you off, the food far outweighs that.We will received a 10% discount for going on a Tuesday night, but we will definitley be going back and may even try a takeaway soon.

IntroFor a number of months now I have passed this restaurant on the way home from work and while waiting for the traffic lights to turn, always thought to myslef I must try there. So last weekend we (me & my wife) did........ It is great to see something a little different other than the usual average pub grub, curry houses & Chineese restaurants that are dotted around Bourne. This at face value at least seemed like a refreshing change. First ImpressionOn entering the establishment was welcomed with a friendly smile and a hello. "Table for two" (quiet anyway so no problem) was requested and were asked where we would like to sit. Picked the table and proceded to view the menu. Good clean modern decor and furnishings, functional although could do with being a little more cosy? This maybe because it is quite light in there or you may need some candles on the tables etc etc? Not too sure but some thoughts from the management here maybe? Hope this is taken as a suggestion idea rather than a criticism management? Anyway, great menu, massive choice and lady who took order very knowledgeable about dishes. Very helpful as we are not currently a big Thai food goer. This may change though......The foodWe ordered starters and main courses. Both courses for us were excellent. Fresh, perfectly cooked, tasty, great balance of spice, heat and flavours. If you are more used to Indian food than Thai like us, then fear not. I would challenge any Jalfrezi lover not to enjoy a Thai red curry as I did with noodles and rice. However, there is such selection that you will find something and the staff are only too willing to help you make that decision. Value for money?Yes it was. Thai food can be thought of as somewhat expensive and depending on where you eat it can be. But this I have to say was excellent quality for a reasonable price and good service to boot.ConclusionA great place to eat if you want something a little different. Exceptional quality of food with great service and nice environment save for the comment I made earlier. We will definitely be going back as a couple also with extended family in the very near future and I do hope this new restaurant goes from strength to strength. We will probably check out the delivery service too. You should try it and I really hope it flurishes where other places havent in Bourne. It really deserves to.

We have been frequent visitors to Sassi's since they opened & we have never been disappointed, with either the quality of the food or the service. They have very quickly become our first choice for a Friday night takeaway (I hate cooking after a long week!!) & it is very hard not to order every week! The food is fresh, with plenty of fresh vegetables in the curries & extremely authentic. So much so, that when we were in Thailand on holiday earlier this year, the Hubby had Massaman curry, which was exactly the same (taste, flavour, spice) as Sassi's. Now you may say 'of course it's should be the same - they're a Thai restaurant', but as we all know this is not always the case. The owners are so friendly & will go out of their way to make you feel welcome & ensure you enjoy your food.To add to all of this, they are also extremely good value, so if we ever do go to weekly ordering it won't effect my purse too much ;-)

Sassi's have been feeding us regularly since their early restaurant days whilst our house was in pieces around us, and we are staunch fans! We have been made very welcome and the tasty, wholesome food has never wavered. They are completely flexible if you want to be pampered and tweak your choice. The flavours are fresh and authentic, every bite a little different; pleasantly rustic. The restaurant is coming along very nicely now although if the food is good and the company fine, we didn't care that it was basic. It's been lovely to see this restaurant grow slowly and establish it's identity in Bourne. We always leave this place feeling we've had a lovely repast and at the same time, done ourselves some msg-free good! The menu is extensive, the food top notch in terms of flavour and freshness, and Alan, Mike and Sassi are the warmest of hosts. Can't recommend highly enough... Amanda and Mike xx

This restaurant is offering really beautiful food at such a reasonable price! The staff are attentive and friendly. I was just a bit wary about trying Thai food, because I do not like highly seasoned dishes, but having had several meals now I know that does not have to be the case. The Massaman curry is fabulous. Really tasty and very mildly spiced. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
