Whether you’re into your wine or a wine novice, No14 have an incredible selection, served in a warm & welcoming atmosphere. The wonderful couple that run this bar are incredibly informative about their wines and help educate without overwhelming. The food matches the sophistication of this place. By far our favourite place in Stamford - a real hidden gem!

We tried the trio of wines and they tasted as if the bottles had been open a few days and not good, £21 for 3 very small glass!! We had cheese to go with the wine which was £14 for one very small piece of cheese, half a quince and a few biscuits. Will not be going back even though it is a lovely place.

Went for drinks after an earlier meal in Stamford and thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the evening drinking a range of cocktails and some delicious. Wasn’t sure which wine to choose but the hosts gave some great guidance and we chose a lovely French burgundy. Would definitely recommend this wine bar. We’re planning on visiting again very soon with more friends.

We found the seating very uncomfortable ( hard cold stools ) Couldn't book ahead to reserve a better table ( for four). The "small bites " menu was definitely that! We ordered several dishes to share plus plenty of wine but the insensitive staff could not even raise their game to give us four salmon bites to share as the menu stated three ! That might have helped slightly change our mood about the place and not send in such a damning review. The staff were not "warm and welcoming". They do not therefore deserve our patronage again.

What an amazing find in Stamford. We had the charcuterie and cheese platter with an amazing red wine from Washington State called Boom Boom! Amazing depth of flavour, colour and fruitiness. Fantastic couple with so much knowledge and passion for what they do.Smoked mutton from Dorset and Compte cheese from Austria! What a few hours for lunch. A must in Stamford. Let them do the choosing for you.

This has to be my new favourite lunch & wine bar in Stamford. My partner and I love this place ever since we came to try it out for lunch. The food is delicious and the staff are amazing, especially when you have a request to change a meat option to another one.I love the fact that it has a nice chilled atmosphere where you can have a conversation and relax. Also, I have to say that there is a great variety of wines which you can try.

We were passing thru Stamford on Saturday night and stopped in for a glass or two of wine. The owners were great and chatted a bit about what they had on offer. We ended up trying their (new) house wines which were really excellent. I had the Pinot Noir, which I'd really recommend if you're partial to them. We didn't eat but did have some nuts from the appetizer list which were also lovely.Definitely on the list for when we stop in Stamford again.

I visited this cafe at lunchtime today. My order was taken quickly and efficiently. The food arrived after about ten minutes and was such a disappointment It did not live up to the description on the menu.I had goat cheese tart and salad, the portions were small. The quiche was very ‘hot’ rather than warm and there was very little saladI was asked if it the meal was ok which it was....just.I think for what I was given it was overpriced and lacking in substance. With so much choice in Stamford this cafe would not be a place I would return to.I try my best to support small businesses but this meal was not value for money.

I’ve eaten here on several occasions, in the evening and for lunch. It’s a beautiful cafe with pleasing decor and the food (soups, sandwiches, cakes, platters and brunch items such as avocado on toast), are all delicious and made with good quality ingredients. There is an excellent selection of wine. The main issue for me was that items are, in general, overpriced (£9 for avocado on toast for example).

We popped in for a glass of wine after having dinner nearby. The staff were polite and the venue was small but welcoming. We enjoyed our wine and will be back as the selection of wine is great and they do many by the glass. We had a lovely time, albeit brief, and will be back again soon for wine and also to try the coffee in the day time.

I have just spent three weeks in Stamford visiting family, which I do several times a year, and while there came across No 14 St Mary’s Hill. Initially it was the tasteful decor that enticed us in but on sampling the gourmet coffee we were totally hooked and returned several more times. I enjoyed the cappuccino and croissant with butter and jam and can hand on heart say it is the best in Stamford ( I have pretty much tried them all). It was during one of my visits that I got chatting to the owner who I found to be really friendly. She understands coffee and explained how they did a lot of research before determining which coffee brand they would use. The pastries on offer are local and very fresh. The menu has a nice variety of fare, all of which seems to have been thoroughly researched and thoughtfully chosen including a nice selection of wine and spirits. This aside the decor at No.14 is so tasteful, not to mention the beautiful location which looks onto the old church. This truly is a classy establishment and it will be one of my first ports of call when I return in the Spring.

Firstly, let me say that I love my food and cook from scratch at home. My husband and I were out in Stamford and decided to pop in to No 14 as we had never eaten there. The young lady who served us was lovely and the bistro is clean and nicely decorated with a nice ambiance. We ordered our food, which took around 25 minutes to arrive. I had the salmon pate on toast, which at £9.95 was pricey and so I expected a high quality pate with crunchy quality toast and a nice garnish..not so. I received 3 (half size) pieces of limp bread with the pate already spread on and it was mediocre to say the least, no salad garish. Very, very disappointing. I could have enjoyed better with a tub of M&S pate. My husband's sandwich was just ok, but at £9 for a sandwich just ok isn't good enough. We would not eat there again. Shocking food at over inflated prices. Stamford has some excellent places to eat, but sadly this isn't one of them.

Felt the older lady was quite abrupt and after having a terrible day really made me feel quite upset my eyes actually started watering. The younger member of staff in the stripy t-shirt was so friendly and lovely in contrast and if she wasn't there I think I'd have walked out. The interiors were nice and it felt cosy just a shame I felt not very welcome.

Dropped in for a coffee and cake and how glad we did. The coffee was super, lovely and hot and very reasonably priced. The decor of No.14 is to a very high standard. The staff/owners very accommodating, indeed, we were ready to leave just on closing time when two customers came in for a coffee. They were not turned away, but welcomed. Where else would that happen? Next time we are in the area we will certainly call in again. Highly recommended!!

Lovely bright and airy cafe/bistro. We only stopped for a drink and a cake. Excellent range of organic teas and they serve a mean chocolate brownie. Interesting range of wines, gins and other spirits on a small display in the cafe with a bigger range in their wine shop. The panini's looked lovely as well.

Very nice place with attractive decor and pleasant atmosphere, overlooking St Mary's church. Quite expensive, but coffee excellent and the cakes were delicious. I had coconut and raspberry tart, my husband triple chocolate brownie. Friendly staff and good service.Would like to try lunch sometime, but concerned about the fellow reviewer finding it disappointing.

My partner and I popped in for a drink and a light lunch yesterday. We each ordered a glass of wine with a sandwich and avocado on toast. The avocado was priced at £9 so we were expecting something very nice. When the food arrived my partner was very disappointed to see only 2 small pieces of toast with avocado on top served on a large plate. To say it looked minimal is an understatement. The avocado tasted bland and to charge £9 seemed somewhat expensive.

I’ve been staying in Stamford for the past week. I like a good cup of coffee and boy did I find it at No14. The hand roast is award-winning with good cause. Flat white is my choice, and Tracy is a master on the machine. Nothing is too much trouble, and both Tracy and Keith are happy to discuss your (in my case particular) coffee needs. I’ve had coffee, morning and afternoon, and lunch in the middle. Excellent patisserie, service and setting. I recommend the fish cakes! Go visit.

Staying at a B&B; just across the road, we tried the inviting looking No. 14 St Mary's Hill on the first day of our stay in Stamford - we ended up going back each day! This was for pre-dinner glasses of wine, a lunch and a little bit shopping - so it's a great all rounder of a place. They offer an interesting and varied selection of wines, including some in their enomatic machine which expands the number available by the glass which was great. As well as enjoying the wine and gin selection, it was lovely to chat to the friendly owners about all sorts including travelling, food and, of course, wine!

On a book hunting trip, we looked for a new stop for coffee and cake. Lucky find. Service was a bit slow but what do you expect with a popular venue? Hard to choose a cake as there was such a selection. Finally picked an Eccles Cake - and glad I did! It was possibly the best one ever. Almost a meal in itself. Friendly staff, light and bright surrounding and great coffee.

Third time I have visited No 14 and took my son in to sample one of the many wonderful wines that Tracy and Keith have on offer in their wonderful wine bar/ deli/café. The decor is beautiful, the food fantastic, with subtle, music creating a chilled, relaxed atmosphere. The wines are phenomenal, try the 2011 Rioja and my favourite, Huia Sauvignion Blanc from NZ. You won't be disappointed and I as am lucky enough to live just down the road, I will be popping in now and again, next time to try their amazing coffee. If you are in Stamford make it a "must visit" place to try. Tracy and Keith are great hosts, will be very welcoming, and make sure you talk to them about future wine tasting events. Enjoy.

Visited no.14 Stamford last week and was not disappointed. Delicious light lunch followed by their Union coffe, which is the best I have tasted. Can't wait to go again to try out their unique wine machine, a great way to sample different wines with a view to purchase. If you are a bit of a wine buff, look out for their wine tasting events. Looking forward to a return visit when next in Stamford. Well done to the owners for opening something different.

Visited for a light lunch. The room is well laid out with a number of tables and it was nice to have real flowers on the tables. We had a table by the window and looked out over towards the church. We had a cheese scone and a leek, cheese and potato pie with green leaves - both were excellent, in fact my wife said it was the best cheese scone she has ever had, while the pie was light and very tasty. Coffee and tea were also good, especially the tea. The service was friendly and very good - we ordered at the counter and the waitress brought over the food when ready. Overall this is now our favourite place in Stamford and suggest that this is well worth a visit.

Been here several times for breakfast and lunch Lovely food, friendly staff and good coffee Nicely done out inside too If I was to have one criticism it’s the tea… it’s weak and I think you should offer a more “robust” bag for those that like strong tea Apart from not everyone wanting posh tea bags this is now our “go to brunch place” for good , hot and yummy food I can always drink the coffee instead!!

Don't bother if you have a dog with you. Looked a nice inviting local on entering but was given short shrift by the barmaid as we had our cockapoo with us. As there was 4 of us in our party, she turned away the opportunity to more than double her clientele on a quiet Sunday afternoon. Not what you would expect from a country pub.
