How can anyone on here say this is a bad chippy? Honestly, sometimes Trip Advisor reviews really miss the mark. This place serves AMAZING fish 'n' chips. The batter is crispy and the chips are incredible. And I say this as a Northerner, so clearly a fish n chip aficionado. If you visit Oundle, get fish 'n' chips from here, you will NOT be disappointed.

A little gem hidden away. Took my mum for afternoon tea. Lovely old fashion tea set already set out ( cup, saucer plate) . Linda our hostess brought out a 3 tiered plate stand. Top plate was mini cakes, doughnuts and profiteroles. Middle plate was a selection of thick crustless sliced sandwiches with hearty fillings. We had tuna, cheese with red onion, sliced tomatoes and egg some plain and some with tomato. Our bottom plate had again variety of cake two of each - good sizes Walnut ? , lemon, a slice of something sweet chocolatey with a bit of a crunch (very tasty) and scones with jam, clotted cream. And some strawberries. We were also asked if we would like tea or coffee. We chose tea and a pot was brought out. When we needed a top up, we only had to ask and another was brought out to us. Linda our hostess also checked with us that everything was fine and also gave us a doggy bag to take home what we couldn't manage, which we needed and was a lovely consideration, with us not having ask for one. The afternoon tea was very good value for money, very filling and yes we were absolutely stuffed. The staff are very friendly and cheerful. It was very relaxing we did not feel like we had rushed. It was also very clean and tidy. Even though it was cold outside, it was lovely and warm inside. Just remember it is easier to book in advance, also you can let staff know any dietary needs.

Was told this place was good. But i had a different experience. Not only was a very simple order got wrong more than once the eggs were overcooked not runny. It was not busy at the time. Hopefully they was just having a off day. A little over priced as not good

Let’s start with the positive. The cakes are incredible!! All homemade and taste delicious. Now for the down side - the takeaway coffee cups need to be reviewed as the bottom fell out of ours as they got soggy very quickly. It was disappointing as the coffee that was 1/4 cup that was consumed was lovely but the pavement had the rest. Such a shame!!

I've been a loyal customer of Raja’s for years, and throughout that time, the owner has consistently been rude and unwelcoming for no apparent reason. Despite my efforts to be polite in an effort to build a positive relationship, she remains brazenly discourteous. It feels like they believe they can treat customers poorly because they are the only real chicken shop in town. I've had enough of this treatment and will no longer support a business that doesn't value its customers. The food's not that great anyway.

The pub has a traditional bar for having a drink, and a destination restaurant which is extremely popular. The menu is balanced, although not particularly extensive, but it is the quality of the food which makes it so popular. I'd advise booking at busy times, but you will not be disappointed.

We decided to try the new menu at the Wheatsheaf for lunch. Plenty of spaces in car park. Friendly welcome and after getting some drinks at the bar we were shown to our table. Lots of choice from burgers to top class mains. We chose the rack of lamb and duck. Both very well presented and cooked with good selection of vegetables on the plates. Followed by a pannacotta. Service was quick and friendly. Recommended.
