A lovely village pub serving excellent food. Lots of character and very comfortable. We went for a family Sunday lunch. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The choice drinks was very good, including a few non alcoholic beers and a cider for the drivers. We had starters, mains and desserts. The roast beef I had was perfect, and the vegetables were a nice selection. All perfectly cooked, and good sized portions. We had sticky toffee pudding for dessert, and that was awesome. Excellent in every respect, and we will certainly return. I just wish it was a bit closer to home for me, but it's well worth the hours drive.

We have been here a few times for lunch or dinner and it has always been very good. Beef brisket , burger and sausages are all very good and appear to be local quality produce. Nice seating areas either in bar, restaurant or conservatory area. Nice staff. Would definitely recommend for decent food at a reasonable price.

Had a big family meet up, including a dog, the service was amazing. We have had problems before at other places after 2 hours being almost forced out. We were staying in Oundle and decided to book here for dinner on our last night. What a great choice! They reserved us a corner table with plenty of space for our Irish Setter which was ideal as the place was very busy and he's a very "sociable" dog! Good choices on the menu, the sirloin steak was perfectly cooked and the lamb rump tender. Star of the night for me, though, was the rhubarb and custard Eton mess - yummy! Service was prompt and friendly. With drinks the bill came to just under £90 which we thought was very good value. Next time we visit Oundle we'll be sure to return.

We visited for lunch at 12.15 today and were both quickly shown to our seats in the lovely restaurant area. We both had the chicken pate starter(pictured) which was delightful, in fact we both could have eaten this as a starter, Main and any other course.... Extremely good. Mains, my wife had the gammon, eggs and chips and I ordered from the specials board, the pulled beef chilli with rice which although extremely tasty, had a firm bit of heat to it, really good though. With 2 pints of Guinness, a pot of tea and a pint of coke, the meal cost us £70. The pub is located in the attractive "Cotswold like" village of Polebrook near Oundle, about 5 minutes from the main A605 road. Parking to the rear and dog friendly too.... And a small pub garden. We were both very impressed and will return without a doubt. Visited 27th April 2024.

15 of us ate in the restaurant for Boxing Day lunch and it was impeccable. When I called to book a few weeks before I asked if they’d be putting on a roast dinner (as many pubs go back to their usual weekday menu after Christmas) and was told they can do that if we wish, which was really good of them. Friendly helpful staff, beautifully decorated pub and the roast beef was amazing! Gravy so so tasty in particular. Thank you, we’ll be back very soon!

We visited The King’s Arms for dinner. The pub was quite busy and had a lovely atmosphere. We were warmly welcomed when we arrived, served drinks at the bar and taken to our table. The restaurant was quiet with a calm atmosphere and beautifully decorated. The staff were all friendly and attentive, we had a little wait for our food, but not too long. It was well worth waiting for! Delicious, hot and freshly cooked with high quality ingredients. The portions were a good size, we even managed dessert too! The Kings Arms is well worth a visit, I would recommend booking a table so you are not disappointed. We will be returning again soon.

My husband and I came here last weekend, wanting just a snack and not having booked. We got a table in the garden and were given menus plus the blackboard of small bites. We had 3 bites for £10: battered king prawns, calamari and fries plus an order of whitebait for £6. All served with two generous portions of garlic mayonnaise. It was the hottest freshest fried food I have ever had - and we've eaten at a lot of places both here and abroad.Service was friendly, polite and efficient. The chef even brought out our food - one way to ensure it's served at the temperature it should be served at! My wife and I my wife found The Kings Arms on Tripadvisor and telephoned first to find if dogs were allowed to which they do so we booked a table for one o'clock in the bar section as were approx 30 mins away. From arrival to leaving we found the service attentive and pleasant (I think Rosie) and the bar section within the restaurant was enjoyable (clean, tidy and a good decor). My wife and I shared the 3 for £15.00 starter nibbles (we choose Homemade Corned Beef Hash with Fried Egg, Stilton Cheese Arancini Balls and the Toasted Flatbread Trio of Dips...Pea and Wild Garlic-Pesto-Houmous and Tzatziki) plus the special nibble of the day Chilli Bowl with Nachos and Cheese £5.50...all were excellent ,tasty very fresh. I was at a loss when the Chequered Skipper in nearby Ashton had changed hands - it had been such a friendly place to have a pint and share good food. Delighted to find they had migrated to Polebrook.A warm greeting marked my arrival and the service was cheerful and efficient. A good range of beer, wines and soft drinks. On a Friday or Saturday night it is wise to book. The dinning area is well set out and not crowded, with rather fine stings of lights. All good well presented and both the traditional cod and the butterfly chicken dishes were delicious. The desserts were also good and not too fattening! Portions were well judged, I could enjoy the food without feeling guilty that i had taken in too many calories! If you wanted to eat more, you could have added a starter. It is my go to place for a meal out alone or with friends in the area around Oundle. The cheerful staff were well trained and made this another reason for going.

We have been to this cafe a good number of times and i couldn’t recommend enough for the majority or the times we have been. However, we went this morning and the lady who was serving us (we have never seen her before) was very rude. My partner ordered a coffee and she brought over the wrong coffee, he politely asked if this could be fixed and she told him he was wrong and didn’t know about coffee (he is a fully trained barista) and then just rudely said ‘so what do u want instead then?’ all the other staff members we have met are very polite and friendly except the one we were greeted by today.

Had a birthday celebration here for 8 and really enjoyed it. Food was lovely, not over priced and service was great. My only negative comment would be that some of the food was served with paper under the food which became soggy and was hard to separate from the wet food. Suggest removing before you start .

What an amazing local village pub. Zoe, the landlady was so attentive and nothing was too much trouble. She made my wife and my visit extremely enjoyable. To top it off England won the football and the atmosphere was absolutely electric. The many large screens meant you could see every moment of the game too. Totally recommend this venue for everyone.
