Hare & Hounds in East Northamptonshire

A village pub, but made to feel extremely unwelcome but a few locals inside, take the mick out of my name trying to draw a reaction and the food was shocking. About 6 chips and had to pay extra for cheese and well it was just dreadful

Tuesday at the Hare & Hounds for our Dad & son beer evening. We're sort of irregular regulars at this pub, like a few in this area, turning up now & then!! Only this time it's been a while. Always a good welcome and a well-kept pint. As I'm invariably driving, I have started on low alcohol beers recently and spent an evening on Guinness 0.0 in one pint cans! We sat and chatted between ourselves about music, life, the universe and everything, basically!! This is actually a rather attractive and well turned out pub inside & out with plenty of outdoor seating and a nice feel inside. Staff & customers are always friendly here and you find yourself included in conversations quickly and joining in. One Summer Sunday, we booked for lunch when my daughter was bringing her new American partner to stay in the UK. In the end, the party was reduced by one coming down with COVID and another having tonsillitis. Such is life! We apologised when we arrived but it wasn't a problem. It was too hot really for a roast but roast we were going to have and I must say, the food was excellent, though I spent most most of the time minding my granddaughter!! Service from the young woman behind the bar and a colleague, was excellent. Friendly and thorough, though there were few to serve that hot day! All in all a solid 5-stars. Chef did a great job. Try this pub!!! But don't eat roast on a sweltering hot day!!!

Village pub with a sizeable garden and a car park. Usually, it has at least one real ale available. Walkers welcome.

A cosy friendly pub serving some excellent food.

I rarely leave reviews but I had to go our of my way to compliment the chef on one of the best steaks I've eaten for a long time, cooked to perfection, I highly recommend the blue cheese sauce.

We had a delicious dinner courtesy of John on Friday. Excellent service from Charlie too. We all agreed it was a fantastic evening spent with friends & family 🍷🥃🍽

Nice welcome and dog friendly. We were told that they were in the middle of a menu change so the options were limited. It was very quiet though. Hopefully it will pick up soon for them.

We had a fantastic work Xmas meal last night. There were 13 of us and Michelle took great care in welcoming us and ensuring that we all had what we needed. The food was freshly cooked and the choice of food was great. You can choose from their Christmas menu or their normal menu. Michelle our host was very welcoming as was the barman. Sorry I can’t remember your name 🙂 We will recommend you to our customers family and friends.x

Sunday lunch for Father's day..... Bit chaotic in the kitchen and service was very slow considering..... By all accounts they serve takeaway food too which seem to take priority over table seating..... Food was delicious to be far..... Wouldn't hurry back but would give it another go....

Prawn curry was delicious. The lady behind the bar was really helpful and friendly. There is a nice atmosphere and it's a really nice little pub. We stumbled on it by accident while out on a bh walk. So worth a visit if you're in the area.

My wife recently had her baby shower at Hare & Hounds. Beautiful location, very tasty buffet and amazing staff. Thank you all so much for providing an excellent day. We’ve also ordered food from here a lot through lockdown and it will definitely continue. Food is always spot on and hot. Highly recommended giving them a go.

Lovely place, and very good food. I had deep fried cauliflower to start with and Moroccan Jambalaya (rice, broccoli, plum, sultanas, and peas).

Well what can I say , everything was spot on, food, staff , value, just outstanding, lovely bar staff and the cook was lovely too. Highly recommended without a doubt. See you again very soon .xx

Totally unimpressed with the quality of food for the price, gravy carton had completely leaked all in the bag so when I opened the bag the gravy went all over my kitchen floor, meat was dry, potatoes were more like boiled potatoes that roasted ones, very let down, won’t be ordering again.

The food is simply amazing. Scotch single malt is well stocked. Service, just wonderful.

Got off to a good start, on arrival saw the signs for cocktails. Love love love a long island iced tea. Upon placing the drink order the cocktails were a no go, not sure why as waitress just mumbled and looked awkward but once I said I'd have a cider she looked very relieved. We placed our order for starters only to be told sorry forgot to tell you there is no calamari. Ok easy mistake to forget to tell us that. Placed our order for starters and mains. We asked for water for the table, lovely big jug of iced water arrived to them be asked if we wanted glasses!!!! What did he think we here going to drink out of without glasses???? Starters finished and cleared, then over an hour later went to ask where our main course was to be told " they are doing it now we forgot about you" what ????? Waitress came in to clear a table near us that had left, to say sorry we are really busy. By this point there is only us two in there and one other drinking at the bar. That's busy. The waitress then said they been taking just eat orders, so dies that mean they forget the customers actually in their establishment. Then a young man come up and asked if we wanted more drinks or desert, OMG they having a laugh we haven't even had dinner. I said this to the waiter who then disappeared without even an apology or to say " I will go and check where the food is". By this point we had enough and decided to leave, the young waitress said the dinner was coming and we could have it for free. We still decided to leave as the service was appalling the customer service non existent, and we felt our custom was worthless. DEFINITELY DO NOT recommend this place, especially on a Sunday.

Sat here after eating THE BEST chicken burger I have ever had. Stuffed… well I will be once I’ve smashed my pudding. Staff have been really friendly and helpful

We ordered a take away via the Just Eat app, it should have taken an hour to deliver the food but the restaurant kept delaying it. We ended up receiving our food after 1 hour 40 mins. When we called the restaurant we were told Management would call us back but we are still waiting a week later. When we received the food, we were very disappointed. The creamy garlic mushroom starter had no garlic in and came in an unpleasant, watery sauce. The garlic and chilli prawns were shop bought tiny prawns that you would get in a prawn cocktail, which had hardly any flavour. Disappointing when that starter alone is nearly £8. We moved on to the mains where we both had the chilli burger. Firstly there was a teaspoon of chilli on the burger - expected more than a mouthful, spread thinly so you couldn't taste it. Secondly it said it came with jalapeño, but there wasn't any. The only thing which was nice were the chunky chips, they were delicious. So in summary, for £50, I thought the food was over priced and not cooked well at all.

We have visited the hare and hounds a number of times, as the service and food has been excellent. We decided to have a rare treat and go for Sunday Lunch. We were somewhat disappointed on three fronts. Firstly. The mushroom starter was nice, however when the bread is left in the bowl with the sauce, it was reduced to a mushy mess. Secondly. The beef roast was very tough and rather fatty. The slice of beef as approximately a third of an inch thick and took some cutting through. Thirdly. The service was somewhat lacking. There seemed to be an abundance of staff that congregated around the bar discussing there social life, complaining and playing with their mobile phones. At one point we though we had thought we had walked into a re-make of the breakfast club. Whilst I hope this was a one off, as it has been a great pub to visit. Perhaps more management of the serving staff and mindfulness that people visit the pub for a pleasant time and not to listen the the antics and complaints of the staff. Perhaps better supervision would not have gone amiss.

Lovely, dog friendly pub. We have eaten here a few times now and it has always been spot on, really tasty and generous portions. All the staff are really friendly too.

Terrible service! Tried to order online for delivery which they are registered with just eat for. Last minute my order was cancelled with no explanation ! Awaiting refund ! Left with no dinner? Will never go here again, will tell everyone to avoid! Bad service, let down!!!!

Excellent pub. Very friendly. Dog friendly, inside and out. Fabulous big garden. Child’s play area, Which is fenced off. Very safe for kids. Recommend!!!

It is a fascinating little country pub /restraunt with modern updated decor. The food is really first class, it was our first visit but definitely not our last.

Recently drove past and noticed board outside saying they now do breakfast Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings so popped in yesterday with two fellow Breakfast Buddies and guest to give it a try. Nice friendly welcome . Good English breakfast with proper sausage bacon and choice of duck or hen's cackleberries cooked to order. Wish the new owners every success with their plans to develop a worthy amenity for the village.

Fantastic country pub, recently renovated and looks superb, we tried the brand new breakfast menu and were not dissapointed. Proper sausages and bacon coupled with ducks egg. Lovely.

Came across this completely by accident as had a business meeting close by. Although quite small it is perfectly quaint. Its lovely inside with fresh decoration. They have a small food menu which is simple but does the job. And is fairly priced. Well.worth a visit. We will be going back again soon

A beautiful local pub with a great mix of punters. Dog friendly; just ask the wife, she has never been kicked out. The owner knows exactly what the customers want. Very friendly and welcoming staff and there is a good sized garden with entertainment for the kids.

What a fantastic pub with an amazing look and feel, tons of people turn up for fresh fish and home cooked chips every Friday and on the first Sunday of every month, patrons are treated to quality live music.. Great local ales and a wide selection of wines and spirits and family friendly!

Guys please look at what we are up to with local pubs like the Red Lion in cranford . We have wifi systems that bring new customers into the venue off the A14. Not just from offering it but from becoming listed on sites offering food and wifi across networks and social media sites. We also have cctv that links to the tills, handheld tablet type epos systems that doubles up as a till on a docking station so best of both worlds. Phone called ID, that links to previous reservations and online reservations that increase table bookings by 30%. Allot of local pubs have as we look after 80% of the independents. We also support all of them for free. Hare loddington, so many to list.
